Okay, a few things:

1) no public washroom, make friends with bushes if desperate.
2) there are cyclists here sometimes, reactive dog owners beware.
3) lots of shades and tress, no need to worry about the sun.
4) some of the ‘trails’ very are narrow and it’s difficult to pass each other sometimes without your dog having to also get close to other people and dogs. Again, reactive dog owners beware.
5) plenty of parking.
6) no cars in the dog park.
7) large grassy fields if your dog wants to roam or chase rabbits/birds.

Overall, this is a really nice dog park. It’s also kind of in the middle of nowhere so isn’t busy. People seem to be pick up up their dogs and it’s kind of fun to read the signages on the history of this place. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Great off leash park. Sadly no eagles this time around and their nest appears to be MIA (swear it's been in the same tree for a decade) and the creepy tree is no more

I love finding new off-leash dog areas! I recently visited North 40 Park Reserve and overall had a positive experience. The park is a great place for dog owners to bring their furry friends and let them run free. There were lots of people and dogs around, creating a friendly atmosphere that we enjoyed. The loop we walked took about 40 minutes, which was a little short for us, so we went around 2x.

Compared to other dog parks around Vancouver, North 40 Park Reserve is relatively flat and not as exciting. We didn't see much wildlife during our visit, which was a bit of a disappointment. That being said, the park is still a lovely spot for a walk or to spend time with your dog.

While we didn't personally see any Bald Eagles during our visit, we heard from others that they can be spotted in the nearby trees during late winter. It's definitely a draw for bird lovers and something to keep in mind when planning a visit.

One interesting aspect of the park is its history as the site of the old Vancouver Wireless School, which was closed in 1971. The old roadways that once served the community remain, and there are informational panels located throughout the park that provide historical background. For history buffs, this is definitely worth checking out.

Overall, while North 40 Park Reserve may not be the most exciting dog park in the area, it's still a great spot to spend time with your furry friend or take a leisurely stroll. If you're interested in the history of the area, be sure to check out the informational panels throughout the park. And if you're lucky, you might spot some Bald Eagles during your visit!

Lots of eagles to be aware of if you have a small dog. Lots of room to wander and sniff. Be aware there is nearby farms so the smell of manure is strong at times. Signs warning of water contamination as well. Great space for off leash running alongside a bike or scooter even though some of the roadways are lumpy from tree roots.

Can walk for miles and miles and miles here. Great spot for the doggos! If it has been raining they will get wet n dirty though.

It's the biggest dog park I've ever seen, but also an amazing spot for bird watching including bald eagles

The best part about this place, is that everyone you meet just wants to talk about dogs. No Trump/Trudeau/Vaccine talk, just dog talk. If you see an elderly man on a bike, he used to live there when it was a base. Ask him about it.

A park that is located in the middle of nowhere. It is Excellence for you and your dog to walk around off leash. There is no specific Trail for you to walk everywhere is quite interconnected.you just keep going as you see a path and just keep walking until you're done.

Everyone is a friendly on the way and most people are dog lovers you don't have to worry. However you got to make sure that your dog is fine walking without your control on a leash. Quite a sufficient space for parking ur vehicle at the entrance

Nice open area in Ladner with some interesting history behind it. Great to take your dogs here to run around. I would suggest to supervise your dog since they can get lost in the bushes.

Great off leash dog park. My only issue would be that if you let your dog off leash, you better have good recall with them as there are coyotes that live there and I have seen a dog get lured into the bush once and then attacked. The dog survived as the owner was only a few feet away BUT be aware that you are in their (coyotes) house when you go there.

Absolutely gorgeous park to walk through with an incredible history that is written on signage posted throughout the area. Dog off leash friendly area with very open spaces and lots of wildlife to observe.

Good place for a short and easy walk, dogs happily running around off leash, Lots of bald eagles to see this time of the year.

A good long trail for dog off leash. Walk with history.
But beware of coyotes.

It would be nice if they could provide more garbage bins along the trail.

Really interesting off leash park but be warned lots of mud and muddy water. Our water loving dog had fun but was filthy. A lot of eagles flying overhead or roosting in the trees! We got lucky with parking but on a nice Sunday afternoon be prepared to wait.

It's a pretty cool park. Used to be a military radio station base during the cold War and you can still see remnants of the buildings and roads that used to be there. Its a dog friendly park and there's always lots of dogs running around.
Of course the main reason for going there is that there is literally hundreds of bald eagles there.

North 40 Park Reserve. I think I saw it once online and it looked like a large dog-walking park. Then I took a closer look recently when choosing a place to visit on the weekend.
It’s big! Upon entering there is a long street to park vehicles. There are a few maps that show the origin, history, and layout. It’s very cool to see the old map and then walk the streets of this once residential area.
There are many people who come here to walk dogs. If you like dogs, eagles, planes, and/or history, you’ll like this park. Eagles are everywhere in the trees and circling above. Planes are constantly landing and taking off from Boundary Bay Airport across the way. History is everywhere in the posted signs, the streets you walk on, and the remnants of homes. Concrete pads, small ditches, decorative ditch walls, and stepping bridges, are all overgrown with grass. In some areas of the streets, mother nature breaks through to reclaim the land. There is also one structure still standing that was the base for the boilers to provide heat.
Keep an eye out for an older gentleman riding a bicycle. He stopped to chat with us. He is one of the former residents! He had some great stories and said he bikes through the park every day. He will be happy to share his memories with you. If you want to venture off the streets (and one sidewalk!) bring boots as the grassy areas can get very soft and muddy.

A great mixture of easy walking, bird sighting, and small morsels of history. Be comfortable with dogs as this is an offleash area.

Great place to walk a dog. Open area with off leash. Did notice some hawks and eagles in the area and there was some posted signs for Coyotes, so be weary if u have a little dog.

I love coming here. Steeped in history, you can see the remnants of the Vancouver Wireless Station. The entire place is a dog off-leash park. Great place to take the family canine.

I loved it and so did my 2 heelers.

One of my favorite off leash dog park, lots of room to roam around for me and my furry friend. The paths are maintained year round and await a new adventure every visit.

A wonderous place. Beautiful historic trees, owls (if you can find them), eagles in the fall (if you can count that high)

This is a beautiful park full of filming locations! This park has been used in dozens of films and movies. It's well maintained and beautiful to walk around in. Plus, lots of friendly dogs!

This is a great Off Leash Dog Park but even if you're not a dog owner I'm sure you'd love to stroll through this historical landmark! BTW, all the dogs I met along the way we're exceptionally friendly well-trained and disciplined. It's Blackberry Season as I write this review, so you might want to bring a little bucket along and pick some! Delicious in fresh baked muffins.

Very cool place. I rode my bike ~2.5hrs here and it was every bit worthwhile. Not overpopulated, and with many, many different trails spanning the entire area which ranges from fields to concrete roads leading through forest.

Dogs love it. Big area for dogs to run free. Some trails as well. Lots of BlackBerry bushes well maintained and trimmed back. Don't suggest riding bicycle. Kids had several flat tires from BlackBerry Bush thorns.

Don't get me wrong I like going here but this place could use some major work. It's in need of a fix so to speak but just leave the birds alone.
04 July 2019 19:51
Great place to take your dog for a walk but no washrooms and no clear signs for walkways. Some paths lead to a dead end but once you have been there a couple times you know which way to go. Lots and lots of bald eagles to watch.
