I have had been to many vets over the years as I have worked with rescues, some great and not so great, and can say this is the worst experience I have ever had. After recommendation (some people actually like this clinic? Maybe because they are cheaper?), I took my dog there to get neutered and totally regretted it. Not only was the staff and Dr P extremely rude, although was warned the bedside manner is not nit great, upon asking a question on the healing protocol post surgery, I was asked if I had surgery and just use my common sense. Then rudely ushered out. Well I have not had my balls removed and anyone whose had a dog knows they will want to exercise even if not healed. How hard is it to give a couple of sentences on post care or hand out a pamphlet I found on Google? ! That is not just bad manners but negligent care. Besides “don’t ask questions, ” no follow up apt. I wondered how my dog was treated there as it seemed a very uncaring environment and literally cried in the car, vowing never to put him in a place like this again. Yes it is less expensive but they just cut corners and the savings were spent establishing a relationship with another clinic anyways, as we are never coming back here.
I also later saw they gave my dog a lepto 4 vaccine without asking, a vaccine that is deemed not necessary in our area and has had much controversy as of late re dangerous side effects. Didn’t even ask and as a owner, should be my decision. Heard he is retiring soon, and should probably do so sooner rather than later.

Great experience, he was so good with our pup. She didn’t even make a peep with her vaccines, he also gave us great advice which we took and glad we listened. We’re very happy with the veterinarian and staff, sad that he’ll be retiring soon!

Dr. H was bewilderingly callous and rude to us after we received our dog’ cancer diagnosis. We had never gone through this before with a beloved pet and we called looking for some information about what the diagnosis could mean. He cut us off on the phone and told us we should find another vet. His behaviour was completely unprovoked and incredibly hurtful, and I still don’t understand how anyone would deserve that kind of treatment during an already difficult time. Selkirk Vet treated us with total compassion and saw that we just loved our dog and wanted to know what he would be going through. I absolutely would never recommend this vet to any family needing sensitive and caring care for their loved one.
