Our favorite stop along the Alaska Highway. We stay overnight in a travel trailer is spot R1. It was right on the water. Spent the afternoon paddleboarded around the lake. Bathroom and laundry is available for RVers. Some had water and power, and the dump station is available on the way out.

For being in the middle of nowhere it's a great stop but if you have a service animal, like me to detect my seizures, you are not allowed to stay in the main lodge and will get moved into the old units with old spring style mattresses, very uncomfortable.

RV review. Never entered the lodge

RV sites seem like an after thought. About 6 feet between rigs once parked. We did have full service.

Wifi was unpredictable at best. Some devices worked, some didn't. Definitely low bandwidth, not unexpected in this location. Running wifi 4.

Layout made it logical for people to just walk through our site number 7. Other sites would not have this problem.

Nice views and right on the lake.

Seemed expensive at $80 per night but you do have to consider the location.

In Europe, Canada and the USA you can spend the night in a mobile home free of charge in the parking lot after a meal in the restaurant/hotel (170 CAD), except in this lodge. Is it greed or lack of hospitality? A PITY! Service and kitchen very good.

The lodge is located in a gorgeous place on Muncho Lake and was a happening place in mid-June when we stayed. All cabins/rooms are seconds from being on the lakefront. We had two dogs with us and they had designated pet rooms which worked out great. Some potentially helpful notes for other dog owners: this place was packed with other dogs, so there was a certain amount of barking going on throughout our stay so this might not be the best place to stay with reactive dogs or those sensitive to noise. The cabins are pretty basic, nothing to write home about; it’s the location that this place really has going for it.

Rooms and service rating is not actual experience. I am staying in the RV park and my only negative is they don't sell propane. If your staying for a while and run out you have to drive 1 hour to toad river for propane. Other than that this is 1 of the most beautiful sites to spend time at. Right on a glacial lake with plenty of wildlife to see.

All in all a great experience so far.

Situated on the lakeshore this is one of more upscale places on the Alaska Highway. This and the remote location means it’s more expensive too. It is one of the few places that offers RV electric hook ups. They have sites with full hook ups and water/electric. The restaurant offers dine in and take out. There is the lodge (hotel), motel, cabins, and RV sites. The bathhouse was clean and functional with showers costing C$1 for 4 minutes. The Wifi is free but spotty, being OK for checking email. They sell gas and diesel.

We stayed here as a stop-over on our way from Dawson City to PG at the end of June 2022. Rooms were fabulous, and the food was excellent! What I remember the most was the service. Isaac looked after us as soon as we walked in the door until we left the next morning. Derek, our server, was pleasure to deal with and very professional. We even hung out with Isaac and Derek after everything closed for the evening and had a great chat! Highly recommended. Next time, I take advantage of the fishing!

The cabins are great although parking could be improved. Most cabins don’t have a parking spot so you have to move your vehicle after offloading. This is the best place to stop along the Alaska Highway (97) between Watson Lake and Fort Nelson. Food is good although I recommend the takeout menu over the restaurant simply for convenience. The restaurant requires a reservation and it’s a bit pricy for what it is. Had the worst steak of my life here but hey it’s not a steakhouse so it was my mistake lol. Otherwise it’s a great place with friendly staff. This was our second stay. Get a cabin instead of a room in the main lodge!

Beautiful views, gorgeous coloured lake typical of the area, and exclusive/life saving location. But no discounts of any sort, very poor wifi, there is no cell phone reception for 200km in each direction (the payphone in the lobby wanted to charge me $10 for a call to the nearest city), so you’re really gonna miss that Wi-Fi, especially if you’re trying to coordinate logistics for your next stop. Did not see the cabins, we stayed in a well appointed room in the main building. Of note there was no refrigerator in the room, so if you have leftovers from your pretty-expensive-relatively-nice meal served in the main dining room, you will not be able to save them unless you have your own cooler. Staff were courteous enough, though it’s clear they’re not looking to make friends with the tourists, and the log cabin style building itself is quite beautiful. There is a giant wood carved map in the dining room that is worth spending some time looking at. Overall enjoyed our stay, but after the initial excitement upon arrival, decided to only spend the one night.

This was my 3 time at the Lodge and it was very disappointing for a few reasons. The food we had was below standard for the price I paid. I had margarita pizza that was under cooked not much sauce and the cheese on top was burnt. My granddaughter had a burger which was ok, I asked for a knife to cut it in half and they gave me a wooden knife and wooden fork. The knife was to small to cut the burger.
I wanted to take my granddaughter into the dinning room to see it, because she had never been to the lodge before and they would not let us in unless we were eating in there. The pizza and burger cost me $47 which was not worth it. We heard other guests who did takeout complaining to each other how bad the food was for what they paid.
When I took my uneaten pizza back and told them why I couldn’t eat it all they said was sorry you didn’t enjoy it, which cost me $22. There was no complimentary coffee offered to us. The lock on our door would not always lock for us. We only had wifi for 2 hours and we were there from 3 in the afternoon till checkout next morning. They said it was because we had iPhones. I never had this problem on my other visits.
I won’t be rushing back anytime soon. The cost of the room, inedible food not worth the drive or gas money. The location was the only best part of visiting the Lodge this time.

When I travel I rely on reviews so it’s important for me to also post them giving as much detail as possible. Yes location is great but that’s it. You will pay over $20 for a basic hamburger and that’s if you can get a reservation, there is not enough parking, the price is too high for what you get. But most of all the manager treated us with such disrespect when a room we had upgraded to at 1: 30 was given away to someone else. We were then given a room key that already had someone else in. The managers way of dealing with this was to demean us in front of other customers. I’ll be honest, I’ve never had someone at a hotel in this position be this rude. When we finally tried to go to sleep at 10: 00pm, the kitchen staff was so loud banging and yelling we had to ask them the be quiet. You could hear every step and noise from the hotel. What good are comfortable beds when you can’t sleep due to staff noise. My next time, I will take a picnic and enjoy the lake and keep driving down the road to a warm cozy place like coal river lodge.

This place is on a stunning lake. The sites are a little expensive but totally worth it. We went for the 3 course dinner which was a little disappointing but the overall experience is worth 5 stars for location for sure. If you can afford it.you can go on a float plane

Went to stop for gas there. Pulled up to the pump and the price showed $2.79 …. I realize you have to make a profit on a much needed commodity along that route ; however, when you price gouge like that, it’s just unconscionable.

We felt this place was over rated for the room. The beds were okay, didn’t sleep great. We were all hot. The room was cramped. Beautiful area so you are paying for the location more than you are paying for the quality of the room. The food was also mediocre. I had higher expectations for this beautiful lodge.

This Lodge was incredible. I wish we could've stayed longer, but I'm so glad we found it. We stayed in a pet friendly cabin, it was cute and cozy and just fine for our family of 3 + dog. I do wish it had a microwave and mini fridge, but there was a microwave at the main lodge. The internet was super slow (64kb up and down) but for the Alcan, with two straight days of no cell service, it was enough to reconnect at least. The food was decently expensive, but it's the middle of the mountains, so that's to be expected. Service was excellent, staff were super friendly, and most of all, the views were epic. Even in the rain and fog, it was a place I will never forget. Definitely worth stopping or even making the trip for exclusively. Thanks NRL! Hope we can stop in again.

On my bucketlist now: get back here with a few old friends for a days of excellent food and super friendly people, and hopefully some hiking/fishing/boating.

Expensive for the visit at $75.00 a night. The RV lots are tight. We had very little level ground to put out chairs. Our friends outdoor carpet went to the neighbours blackwater dump. The Lodge offered wifi but even at 0400 there was minimal service. Only one washer and dryer. The staff were pleasant on check in but some of the staff working outside seemed put out we were there. Next time we will camping at the nearby government camp sites right on the beeautiful lake for free

$200 a room for the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Staff was rude when asking about breakfast in the morning. I have semi permanent hair coloring and when I showered and dried my hair some color transfered onto their $5 white towel. They charged me a DAMAGE fee ($90) instead of bleaching their whites? So yeah don't go here if you have any hair coloring. I have stayed in way cheaper places and not been taken advantage of like they did. We spent over $800 total here. There was 3 groups of us and we all woke up dizzy and feeling nauseous due to the strong smell of propane and the staff said that they have an alarm for when there's "too much" propane.

I will never go here again. Plan ahead and book liard hot springs or camp out.

Anyone that has ever traveled the Alaska/Canada Highway knows that things can sometimes go wrong. Blown tire, blown engine, weather, etc. In our case, we unfortunately had 2 tires blow out on our Uhaul truck and trailer while we were relocating to Florida and were scheduled to overnight for 2 nights with the Northern Rockies Lodge.

Things don't get fixed fast in the Yukon Territory, so we were set back nearly two days awaiting repairs. Once we were able to get phone coverage, my wife immediately called the staff at the hotel to notify them that we would not make our first day reservation (We were 200 miles away!) The gentleman (Isaac) graciously helped us out and we even sent them a followup email (per their request) to cancel that days reservation.

The next day, our tire was still not repaired because they had to special order the size for the Uhaul truck. My wife again promptly notified the Norther Rockies staff with a call and followup email to let them know we would not make the 2nd day reservation. This time, however, they charged us the full room cost for the 2nd day because it was under their 24 hour cancellation policy. I understand company policies, but there needs to be latitude when a customer cannot possibly/physically get there for their scheduled stay. My wife spoke again to front desk of the hotel to plead our case and asked for some reasoning and common sense understanding. She said she would speak with the owners of the lodge and they would get back to us. They never did and that was nearly 2 weeks ago. We even offered to send them the Uhaul documentation validating our situation.

I have disputed the charge with my bank. In such a rural area like Muncho Lake where so many things can go wrong, its hard to believe that such an unreasonable policy even exists. I have to give it a 2 star rating (Isaac saved it from being a 1 star rating) because of the terrible policy and customer service, or lack thereof, that we received.

If you book a room here, you better make sure you can make it or you will get charged-no exceptions if your car breaks down or you blow a tire.

We just stopped in because one of the kids had a potty emergency and they were so friendly. None of the usual "customers only", we ended up buying some things just to support them anyway.

This is a great gem on the AlCan. It has the pristine views of the lake with great amenities and staff. Rooms were basic but comfortable and nice. Many options depending on your needs.

This is by far the best place to stay if you ever find yourself driving down the Alaska Highway. Great people! Great Food! Cozy warm rooms and beds. Don’t leave without trying the Schnitzel.

Fantastic place to spend a few nights, a great resort on the Alaska Highway, out there in the middle of beautiful Mucho Lake. Cozy clean rooms and cabins, friendly and accomodating staff, they even helped jumpstart our car before we left.
