Nuba Cafe and Catering in Mount Pleasant

For any regulars out there, I'd think twice before eating here again.

This place used to be one of my favorites but we got takeout recently and the portion sizes were so incredibly disappointing for $50 worth of food per person! Called to check with them and they said everything was correct and, while the staff member agreed the portions were small, they said it is what it is and they werent in a position to do anything about it. Very unfortunate.

I used to love this Nuba location for its friendly service and atmosphere, but recently it hasn't been great. I always seem to end up wit bad servers; especially the man with the long hair/bun who I find really rude and dismissive. Do better Nuba

Great food. Restaurant gave our reservation away to a group which didn't have a reservation which was annoying. But staff were good about putting together a make shift table.

A real authentic Lebanese cuisine with some elements of fusion. Really well executed, the food is top notch. Excellent and courteous service and a welcoming interior add to the atmosphere. A real gem of a restaurant.

One of the server was very rude. Very bad service will never recommend this place to anyone. Worst experience ever

Very good food and great service! Highly recommend trying Nuba. We liked the cauliflower dish (Najib’s Special) which was perfect to share, along with the Garden Falafel and the Lentil dish. I really liked the Chicken Shish Tawook dish but my only complaint was the extremely small portion. I had to order a few extra chicken skewers which were even larger (and cheaper) than the chicken skewers in the dish itself. I’d suggest is to order lots of the extra chicken or lamb skewers for extra protein! The beer and cocktail list was unique but the cocktails are certainly pricey.

We always love Nuba and our most recent dinner was enjoyable as ever. They have recently added a bunch of new menu items and they were all delicious. We highly recommend the lamb ribs - they were super tender and the flavour was great! The bison kibbeh was also a highlight of our meal - the flavours and textures were amazing. Of course, no meal for our kids here is complete without a big bowl of cauliflower. Our server was also friendly and efficient which made the meal even better.

Food was good but very pricy with a small quantity. This was my meal after a hike and I ended up having to get a second dinner.

Perfect place for causal dining with friends. Modern decor, friendly attentive service and tasty food. Baba Ghanouj is a good refreshing summer appetizer. Everything is good there!

We love Nuba, especially this location! We have been coming here for years. We had take-away regularly during the pandemic and it was just as good as eating in the restaurant. We love it because the food is always consistently delicious, fresh and very flavorful. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. We love coming here.

DELICIOUS! We had never really eaten Lebanese food before, but I can highly recommend Nuba! The food was all wonderful; beautifully prepared and presented. Every dish was very fresh, and clearly hand made. I would have never believed that hummus could be so good. All three of us enjoyed every bite and will be recommending Nuba to our friends. The decor is cute, although my personal taste would be towards a somewhat more formal style. Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall a great experience.

Delicious and beautifully plated. Wonderful service and bright atmosphere and very reasonable. Loved it.

Shared a lunch plate with a few add-ons between two people, which was just enough for a light meal. The dips and lamb hushwie were great, however I found the falafel and flatbread to be slightly on the dry side. Their Chai Latte was equally beautiful as it was delicious. The price point was a little high for what you get, but it was still an enjoyable meal overall.

We ordered lunch from Nuba for our office, and they were so helpful and accomodating. The office staff enjoyed the food and would definitely order from there again.

The chicken and cauliflower was really good. Flavourful. And they have refillable pita bread

The food and the service were amazing. Our server, Zahra was delightful and hospitable. We ate kibbeh and Hushwee. Both were delicious and prepared in new and fun ways.

Great food, and it definitely filled me up. Nice and friendly service! Was expecting more meat on the dish, but as mentioned it did fill me up so no complaints.
I was ordering by my self but did wait over 20 minutes for my order, could have been a little quicker!
Will go again.

Food is good but portions are too small. Mains don't come with any sides. The value isn't there. Was interested in some of their other dishes but it's hard to justify coming back.

Food was decent.i would say the quality of the food differs per location - hands down the gastown location is best.the service here was mediocre.got seated and was only served water 5-7 mins after.took an additional 10-12 mins to be asked for our order.dishes were served 15 mins later, and no one came by to check up on us.asked for additional pita and it never came.mind you the restaurant was empty and only another group of 3 came mid-meal - there were 3 servers.

This restaurant came highly recommended through one of my friend and yes, I do recommend dining @ this restaurant to anyone reading my review. I had good experience with the food, the service, the ambience. Do not miss on trying the halloumi cheese here. I'd tried halloumi before in various other restaurants, but the one here is very unique and aromatic. Overall, great experience!

The worst middle eastren food i've ever had, portions are very small and food so expensive.of you've money better to spend it somewhere else

Great spot for a lunch bite. A little bit disappointed that the lamb platter was removed, now only an entree. The chicken is good nevertheless.

Writing this review as our stomachs grumble and we head over to Superbaba to top up on more food. We are so disappointed, and we feel robbed.

We ordered:
Chicken tawook mezze
Garden falafel
Halloumi cheese mezze
Lamb hushwie mezze
Total cost: 65.94

The portion sizes were so small! The halloumi was $18 and had 4 pieces of cheese and some tomato. That’s it. The chicken was dry - 2 skewers on a smear of hummus, with a bit of cabbage on the side. The falafel were cold and stale. For the four dishes we only got a handful of pita.

Overall very poor value and no flavor. Super bummed!

We had Nuba cater our Christmas party this past weekend and the whole experience was extremely positive. Quick and easy quoting/payment, they gave some flexible options for dietary restrictions, prompt delivery - not to mention the food was incredible. I've been eating leftovers for four days and I have no regrets. Bless you and all that you stand for, Nuba: ')

This place is pretty amazing for eating sustainable, they have a great Gluten Free options as well as vegan and yes even for your meat eating friends. The serve was very attentive and friendly, but not the fake type friendly. McKayla rocked it. The have very classy music in the background.a must stop by, one thing missing is GF bread to dip in the amazing humus

The food at Nuba has always been great. But being able to organize a hot meal being delivered to the office was never easier. A quick phone call and email later everything was settled. They also made customizations and edits based on our specific needs. I highly recommend this to others who are organizing a party.

We catered a small Holiday party with Nuba and every part of the experience working with them was fantastic. Victoria was responsive and helped design a perfect menu for our event. Food was ready for pickup on time and was delicious. Would highly recommend!

Working with Nuba to cater our staff event was an incredibly positive experience. They cater to so many dietary preferences and needs so being that we are a Naturopathic Clinic with lots of DF/Ve/GF folks, it was so nice having party platters that were appetizing, filling, and suitable for the diversity of dietary requirements. Thank you NUBA for being so easy to book with and creating such delicious platters for our event - we will be sure to using their catering services in the future!

Victoria and the entire Nuba catering team are fantastic! We ordered a dips platter for a group event and it did not disappoint.the food was amazing and it was the hit of the night for everyone. I love Nuba restaurant and their catering side will forever be a "Go-to" for me going forward.the hummus is my favorite, the Baba Ghanooj was a little smokey for my liking, but everyone else loved it and the Tzatziki was AMAZINGGG. They have the best Feta in the entire lower mainland too.

Nuba rocks it so hard.consider their catering packages and platters for your next group event.my friends and I loved it and I still have some leftovers this week.

We've been using Nuba to handling the catering for all of our work events for a few years now and its fantastic for so many reasons - but one key one sticks out to me:

Dietary restrictions! There are so many dairy free, vegetarian etc options available that it makes ordering for large groups super easy.

Also - the food is absolutely fantastic and a Vancouver staple.

Patricia organized catering for our office of 20 people on very short notice and they were so happy! Great communication and the food was so delicious!

The Nuba catering team was amazing to work with. They were organised and responsive, and provided us with many options. Most importantly, they made the actual event feel effortless. They were efficient and courteous and everything ran smoothly. And I should mention that our guests loved the food! We will definitely use them again.

I had a lunch combo which had a big volume. So I could take home the left over and enjoyed twice their tasty dish! I ordered ram dish, but I want to try eggplant dish for next time!

Nuba catered a work event I was helping organize and everyone loved the food! Great service, fast and clear communications from the catering team, and delicious food. I returned a few times for catering with Nuba since it went so well!

Great dips and appies. I wouldn't recommend the cauliflower steak though. It's not really a meal, just a giant cauliflower. The Najib's special cauliflower is a better pick as a shared plate.

I had Nuba cater a 40th birthday recently. It was fantastic. The food arrived fresh and hot! I would 100% use them again.

I ordered catering for a small event and it was amazing! All the food was individually packaged and was perfectly presented. My guests were happy and full. The food was so delicious and we would definitely order from them again!

For customers without a “passport, ” there’s only take out & pick up options. Entrance at side door.

Wow! We had the absolute BEST time at Nuba!

All the food we tried was delicious and just so beautifully plated, the service was outstanding (unfortunately we couldn’t catch our server’s name, but she was lovely, timely and so efficient, even though it got super busy…) and it was just such a nice atmosphere over there!

10/10 - we will for sure be back here!

Victoria and the Nuba catering team are amazing! She was helpful, prompt, and answered all my questions before I even had a chance to ask them. The food arrived right on time and the whole event was a success. I can't imagine a better choice for catering. I would HIGHLY recommend.

Nuba catered our work event for 50~ people twice in one day and they were absolutely amazing both times! They offer a wide selection of menu items for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. The portions were HUGE and the food was delicious! What struck me was their attention to detail (for example, ensuring each dish got equal heaping spoonfuls of lamb) while also being so quick with their serving. Our teams got their meals hot and fresh. They also provided individual compostable containers, wrapped pita and sauces to distribute in a food safe manner. Such a positive experience and really recommend Nuba for their catering and food quality!

Nuba catered our wedding and were amazing! Food was fantastic and service was incredible. All of guests were raving about the food, pick up and delivery was seamless. Victoria was so helpful and knowledgeable, couldn't have asked for anything better!

I wanted to do a catered meal at home and thought Nuba would be amazing. They did not disappoint. Right from the initial contact by email with Victoria, she made the ordering process so easy and delivery arrived exactly on time and warm and WAY more food than I had expected! Great experience!

I have always been a fan of Nuba and their amazing food, but this was my first catering experience. Needless to say, it was delicious as always. Victoria was so gracious in taking care of my fairly last-minute order and putting a great meal together so quickly. In addition to the regular menu items the canape platter was great to try from the catering menu, and was a great hit at our staff party. Thank you again!

Incredibly disappointing. I should have read the reviews for takeout before getting excited. I hate to give any restaurant a bad review when so many are struggling with pandemic protocols and modifications but this was just.so bad.

We have been supporting the restaurant through takeout as much as we possibly can and, exactly as others stated in their reviews, these folks just don’t have it figured out or just don’t care. Currently, the only highlight of Covid birthdays is the take-out and this was probably one of the most disappointing takeout experiences I’ve ever had.

Update: I contacted the restaurant as per the request below from Management but have not had a response.

With the new Covid restrictions I had hoped they’d figured out their takeout procedures but, judging by more recent reviews, it sounds like they really haven’t. Such a shame as they used to be one of my favourite restaurants in the city. If you’re craving Falafel, please go up the street to Superbaba where you’ll get fantastic service and food.

Whenever I crave Lebanese food, I just headover to Nubatown and I recommend the same to my friends! One of the best Lebanese restaurants in Vancouver! I’m consistently blown away by the service I receive. Even through covid, they went above and beyond to make sure our experience was exceptional.

Nuba is always fresh and delicious. Great drinks to complement your meal. Loved their outdoor seating back in the summer!

This Lebanese joint is cool, we dined in and shared three mezze's between two for a light lunch which was okay but not enough to fill you up.
The food 100% deserves 5 stars for sure, as well as the decor alongside nice colorful and leafy aesthetics and vibe they have going on in there. The food portions were OK (mixed feedback from different servers) and extremely well presented as you can see, although you'd have better value for money buying two lunch plates as it can be quite pricey for a smaller lunch almost $50 including tax and 15% tip.
The food is seasoned to perfection and caters extremely well for veggies like ourselves whilst not sacrificing flavour. Although not sure if it was just me, but the cauliflower Najib's Special was real overrated as I was told there crazy addictive by one of the servers.
My justification for three stars was the mixed recommendations as well as when we ordered a third mezze (as when two came it was clearly not enough) that it turned up within 2 minutes and cold. I asked the gentleman if it was meant to be and he said certainly not. The staff prepared a 'fresh' mezze which proved it was a send-back that had been conveniently hanging around.
Anyway, long story short the Mjadra (green lentil) when it arrived fresh was actually my favorite and super yummy. You can see the difference in pictures as to how it should look. When it actually arrived as it should, we were also correctly given a side of pita which was not provided the first time!
Based on the last points, I wouldn't head back in a rush, recommend and felt pretty 'taken for a joke' when the cold mezze arrived in hope I'd not notice.
I hope this was justifying but fair.

I used to love Nuba and have been many times. I hate to be harsh but the last couple of times have been very disappointing.

Meals are offered for take out but not for dine-in and my friend and I wanted to support the servers, but were not impressed.

The quantity is not worth the cost and the options are limited. You have to spend over $20 regardless of whether you want an appetizer or a lighter meal.

I am apprehensive to go back to any location which is a shame because the service is friendly, the environment inviting but the value just isn't there.

Nuba is easily one of my favourite restaurants in the city. The service is always awesome and the food is always exactly what I'm in the mood for. Even though the pandemic has provided the industry with many challenges, the staff at this location consistently go above and beyond. I always recommend this location when people are looking to try something new.

I wanted to visit this place for a long time and because of the pandemic I just skipped. Finally, we visited the cafe yesterday with my friend. I love the chicken tawook and meatballs. But, portions are small when you compare with the price. Unfortunately, I was still hungry after having lentil soup and chicken tawook. So if you would like to visit them make sure to order big plates.

I agree with other posters. Portions are small for take-out. And I have eaten at the restaurant (and other locations). Terrible. Never again.

A very good place for lunch in Mount Pleasant. Food was well prepared and space was good well designed. Reasonable prices.

Nuba is like home ~ taste the goodness in each of its platter ~ am I biased or I fell in love with this place on the first bite I don’t know but this is a magical place for me where the taste of goodness makes me talk like a poet ~ just perfect ~ the best

Friendly and attentive staff really make this place great - of course the food is fantastic: healthy, fresh, different from the usual, sharesies are great for groups - higher priced than average but worth the visit

Food was ok, a little bit burnt and too oily. But tasty. Location was great, so was the service. Their pistachio butter cake is the best!

Nice place, the food is tasty however the portions are very small. To be truthful the waitress did tell me that one plate of order would not be enough. So I had a very nice soup and a prawn dish. Well I still left hungry. The food and a glass of wine set me back by CAD38 which was a tiny bit unexpected. Overall, very nice, professional and honest crew nice ambience but nothing really special, and I think a bit overpriced. Nice experience.

Love the staff and the food was delicious. Honestly feel like the management staff were very condescending and continued to make me and my family uncomfortable. The staff did a beautiful job to prepare our meal and make us feel as if we were at home (we were visiting from Quebec). It was honestly a beautiful experience and I would not be writing a bad review if I did not feel like I had to. The manager, or whoever was in charge was completely belligerent to the staff, but more importantly made me very uncomfortable with my family. I don't care who you are, but you do not make my twin daughters scared in a place that advertises delicious food. Will not be returning and hope the staff decide to leave and work in a more humane environment where they know it absolutely wrong for a manager to treat other humans like this. If the manager is reading this, all I can say is I hope you reevaluate your decisions you have made that make you feel that you have the justification to treat other like this.

Good lunch option a short walk from Olympic Village. Tastey food with a variety of good vegatarian options. Najibs special is a must if its your first time. Any of the plate options are a good size for a lunch. Often busy so may be a wait and only good for tables 2 to 4.
