When I noticed some irritation in my cat’s eye, they were able to get me in same day when I wasn’t able to get into her regular vet. Staff were quite friendly and they handled her well.

However, after briefly discussing her eye, the vet tried hard to push me into a seemingly emergent $2000-$2400 dental surgery- as quoted by them. Trying to do blood work that day and get me to book her in immediately.

Luckily, I trusted my gut and was able to take her to my regular vet the following week for a second opinion. There, I was relieved to find that this wasn’t even close to the case. My vet quoted me $600-$900 for the dental service she actually needs and explained that it isn’t emergent, but should be done within the next 6 months- giving me time to plan and save without stress. My vet didn’t understand why the vet here had been so extreme in their recommendation.

I’m extremely disheartened to know I wouldn’t be able to trust the recommendations at Oak Animal Hospital in the future, based in this experience.

Edit: Reading other reviews and realizing that price gauging and the recommendation of inappropriate procedures (specifically dental) is a common experience here. Should have read them earlier.

If you leave a negative review you get harassed. Dr. Mann doesn't interact well with clients, human and pet alike. Be prepared to follow up persistenly on issues that have been gaslighted as simple dental cleaning might mean serious dental issues and a small wart can become life-threatening if left up to the vet.

Fantastic vets with amazing staff!

Our cat (ZsaZsa) isn't thrilled about vet visits and can sometimes get spicy with the Oak Vet team, but she's treated like a princess every time we visit. Dr. Mann is the only vet that ZsaZsa trusts enough to allow a dental exam. Oak Vet has managed her periodontal disease and reabsorptive lesions since she was a kitten and has been quick to provide expert cleanings and extractions when required.

During the 2023 forest fire season, our poor kitty had to be rushed in due to excessive drooling and tremors. Corrina, the clinic manager, quickly scheduled an appointment and the Oak team ran a series of tests (x-rays, blood work, and urinalysis) to diagnose the underlying cause of the symptoms. Oak Vet has all their diagnostic equipment in-house and the results were back within an hour. It was determined that ZsaZsa had an underlying respiratory condition we were unaware of, which was exacerbated by the burnt wildfire particulate. After receiving her medicine, she improved quickly and was back to normal in under 24 hours. We continue to rely on Oak Vet to manage this condition as she is a senior pet.

It was an incredibly stressful afternoon and the team worked quickly to help our sweet kitty. We deeply thank Dr. Dhillon and the rest of the Oak Vet team for their kindness, compassion and quick actions that helped ZsaZsa feel better faster.

I have been a customer of theirs for years. And over all they are very good.

This last time they were very accommodating with my cat's emergency. Grateful.

Edit: unimpressed with Dr. Mann's response to this review.
Shortly after posting it, my boyfriend received a call from Dr. Mann. His is the number on file for our cat. Despite reaching the wrong person, Dr. Mann wanted to know why I had made a negative review and didn't want to end the call when my partner said he was busy. Be prepared, if you describe your experience you might receive an uncomfortable call asking about it!

This vet deals with small animals, and I had nothing but good experiences when I brought my rats in (about five years ago now). Five stars! The vets were gentle, kind, and helpful.
However, now that I have a cat, I cannot say I've had the same experience. Definitely a two star kind of time. Basically the vet I've seen (Dr. Sandeep Mann) seems very willing to promote unnecessary and expensive procedures. An example: he recommended surgery to remove a lump that he had confirmed was benign. It felt as though he was more focused on increasing the vet bill, and less on our cat's health. Similarly, he recommended a very expensive dental procedure that required anesthetic, before recommending diet change, tooth brushing, or dental treats that would have addressed the tooth staining.
If you are concerned about finances, or unnecessary stress on your pet, I would recommend getting a second opinion elsewhere.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my hamster to get it's nails trimmed here, and on the second visit I was told my hamster had a wart in its ear. After an $80 examination charge, in which the vet didn't even touch my hamster and spent less then 5 minutes with him, I was told the wart would fall off on it's own. This vet also recommended replacing the paper bedding with wood chips, which anyone with a small animal knows is VERY harmful to a hamster. The wart did not fall off, it grew exponentially. When I called and spoke to the receptionist about my disappointment with the examination and advice that was given, I was told a manager would follow up with me. Nobody ever called me to follow up. Because I was advised by this vet to leave the wart untreated, it grew so big that I took it to an emergency vet. This vet told me because the wart was left so long it was untreatable. My hamster died shortly after as the wart grew to an unmanageable size. If my pet would have received care from a knowledgeable vet when the wart first appeared, it would not have died prematurely. DO NOT TAKE YOUR SMALL ANIMAL HERE!

We had our dog tooth surgery and neutering here. After the neutering, one of the sutures came out and we got worried so we sent a photo to them and they replied back to us very promptly saying not to worry.

Highly recommend this place!

The receptionist here is very nice! She’s a gem!
