Had exactly what I was looking for and the staff helped me get in and out in like 5 minutes.

My partner and I love this home hardware! It’s so easy to be intimidated by stores like this as people who are not very handy, but each visit has been overwhelmingly positive. The staff are helpful and kind. Thank you!

Just needed another Honeywehell fan and they had the same model that I've been buying for a few years. (Probably from Home Hardware) Not expensive and had a good laugh checking it out as the clerk had been using them also and replacing the same one (s) also!

We were searching for a specific wood finishing product that wasn’t available here. The woman we spoke to was very knowledgeable and spent quite a bit of time explaining the pros and cons of possible alternatives. We appreciate her advice.

I always do my business at the Fairfield location and I am extremely happy with that. I own a local lawn and garden company. Yesterday I went to the oak bay location. I was looking to pick up some equipment needed for my company. I happened to meet the owner and his wife. They were so rude and pretentious I couldn’t believe it. He told me that they are not associated with any other home hardware location. He said that they were independently owned. The owner and his wife said that their prices would not compare to other home hardware locations. In the end I would not purchase anything from this location. I have been in business for over 30 years and never came across such a rude owner.
I highly recommend the Fairfield location. Please don’t support the Oakley location!

Worst “customer service “ ever.
Tried to return a defective fan I purchased 4 days before. The manager told me they would not take it back and I should sell it on marketplace. Seriously! I returned it without any problem to the Fairfield location. Something is definitely wrong at the Oak Bay location.
Call the main Home Hardware number for help if they will not allow a return. Apparently this store has customer complaints regularly. I will never shop there again. Go to the Fairfield location instead.

What an awesome community hardware store. They’ve managed to squeeze just about everything you’d need into a good sized store. Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful!

Staff are always helpful. They have most of what I want for gardening. Parking around lunch time can be sparse around lunchtime.

Great selection of goods in a small footprint which sometimes beats hiking through a mega-hardware store. Service is usually good but sometimes whether at the cash register or on the floor, service can seem a bit abrupt or not so friendly for reasons not readily apparent. Overall though, knowledgeable and helpful staff make it a good shopping experience.

Amazing and reasonable staff, went in to get a spare key RE-cut alongside the original from a previous locksmith that never worked, and had the manager (I didnt get his name) re-shape the key for my car when they had no key available to replace.the re-shaped spare worked like a charm, I came back in to thank him, and he was nowhere to be seen. The gesture didnt go un-noticed, and I very much appreciated the quick work

Just witnessed a female Employee at Oak Bay Home Hardware accuse a young mother and her daughter (customers) of shoplifting. I spoke with the woman who was being harassed, after the incident, to make sure she was OK. Come to find out she is a Dr.in the area, who albeit is not exempt from shoplifting, but likely not a prime candidate for petty theft. I was shocked at the bizarre treatment she received by staff. Oak Bay Home Hardware, please train/educate your staff regarding customer service. I have lived in Oak Bay for over 50 years and have never witnessed such an irrational and unwarranted spectacle created by an employee.

Today I returned 3 smoke detectors for refund. My electrician preferred the battery operated ones, not the hard wired ones I had purchased a week ago. I received a refund, no questions asked, even though I had removed the cellophane wrapping.

I appreciated the polite manner and integrity of this business!

I enjoy shopping at OB HH. The staff are knowledgeable, know the product layout of the store and extremely helpful. I was in earlier this week and was asked by 4 different floor personnel if I required assistance. Nice touch as I can go into a big box store and personnel seem to disappear into the shelving. It is a pleasure to deal at this store. My hardware store when I am in town from Ontario.

The place is better than the attitude of several staff members. They should be more positive or obliging while serving customers.

I went to too of them to nuy the same thing and got a surprise in a bad way at one place it was 14.99 and at the other was 20.49. Not happy but i need it for cooking

The staff here are super helpful and do not ever treat this ole gal as a silly old woman. They offer suggestions for a better way to do things and share their expertise generously. John shared the reliability of a new light sensitive timer I needed for my new Xmas lights. God knows I could never have read that miniscule print on the enclosed sheet! Many thanks!

Cashier was very unfriendly but someone did try to assist me in finding an item that the cashier said was elsewhere.
