Great for a quick bite. Delicious Wor Won Ton soup. Definitely worth the money.

I wish I could give this zero stars. I don’t know what was worse: the food or the service. We were seated and almost immediately asked what we wanted to order. We asked for more time and the rude waitress stormed off in the middle of my sentence. Different waitresses kept trying to take our orders which made it seem like there was no organization or communication between them all. The food… oh the food.horrible. Worst Chinese food I have ever had. I would have preferred days old leftovers from another restaurant than what I was served here. I even asked how the Beef Lo Mein was prepared (since there were no photos) and the waitress looked at me and responded with “I don’t know how to answer that question. It’s Lo Mein” then when the plate arrived it was Chow Mein. I was hungry so if it was somewhat tasty, I would have eaten it but I truly could not get past my first bite. I tried to cancel on of my orders before it came but (again since there was no communication between them) it was still brought out and we were forced to pay for it even though we didn’t want it, canceled it, and left without touching it. Possibly the worst dining experience ever.

We ended up leaving after reluctantly paying the overpriced tab (the 3 waitresses were yelling at us to pay for the wings we didn’t want) just so we could get the hell out of there.

We should have known this was a bad spot when we saw the waitress yelling at another table…

Left with a bad taste in my mouth, an empty stomach, and $50 short.

Took quite some time until we could order although the restaurant was not full. But the food is amazing, tasty and for us too much, we had to ask for boxes to take the rest home.
Just bring some time and patience.

Service and food was bad! In the end we asked for containers to our pack leftover to waiter/ server - reply came like “ why did pack? What for? ”

We tried take-out from Ocean Garden. The food tasted pretty good, and most of the dishes had more grease than John Travolta. Consequently, I had to drink two litres of ice water after the meal. The curried chicken was relatively grease-free and had a nice flavour; I'd recommend it.

Always a good experience at this wonderful restaurant. The food is always hot & fresh. Service is always friendly & fast. Will definitely return.

If you go, go HUNGRY

Myself and 3 friends came in for won ton soup, service was fine, soup was wonderful, made me forget about the rain for awhile.

Ocean Garden has been my go-to place for dine-in. I’ve ordered delivery from them several times and sorry to say, was disappointed every time. Tried it again today and the food was awful! Perhaps they’re not concerned about changing the cooking oil in the deep-fryer, because the egg rolls and deep-fried prawns tasted overwhelmingly like fish. If I’d been in the restaurant – I’d have sent them back. Won’t order for delivery again and probably won’t go for dine-in either.

We were in Chinatown and were looking for a restaurant to dine in. Most of the resraurants were closed by that time (it was 7: 30pm) and we saw Ocean Garden still open. We walked in and was greeted by Mei. We already knew exactly what we wanted, the service was fast and the food were great! Love their hot tea as it was cold and raining outside. Mei was very friendly and made sure we were comforable. She was always smiling and that made us smile too. We had our leftovers to go and Mei gave us forks to go with it. Amazing food with amazing customer service!

Pass it by. I never had Chinese food and in China Town, that needed salt. Not a good sign. The food odd not prepared well. It is dry with almost no sauce. The noodles were burnt and the rice was old.

Wait staff was always in a hurry and did not listen to you request. Hard to understand.

We told people standing outside to move on.

Don’t try the sweet and sour chicken ball's it is really bad and the chop suey chicken is only celery with soy sauce 100% dislike

It'ss hard to find late restaurants in Victoria, and that's how we got here. Not regreting at all. Is very affordable, the portions are huge, the tea is delicious (a special blend of the house, which is included with our food). Kind staff, nice installations and convenient location. Recomended.

Exceptional food at a convenient location. We had Cantonese chow mein and chinese crispy chicken and they are the best in the city.

The worst "Chinese" food I've ever eaten in my life!

Bad, bland, no salt, no taste! The rice tastes like raw pancake flour.

The meat is supposed to say lean and is pure skin.wacala, the worst thing I've ever eaten Chinese food.and lousy service, I arrived and they threw the menu on the table, without greeting at least.

STAY AWAY! One of the worst restaurant experiences of my life in addition to the foulest Chinese food I've ever tasted. Tourists be warned just because this restaurant is in Canada's oldest China town district and conveniently under the arch, don't be fooled. My girlfriend and I ordered the Szechuan combo which included chow mein, hot and sour soup and deep fried beef. I knew it was a bad sign when the food arrived three minutes later. The chow mein was very undercooked with some kind of vegetable mush, the hot and sour soup very vinegary and the fried beef was hard as a rock. We tried to send the chow mein back but the server was super rude and then let us know all of the food was precooked hours ago. Nothing is made fresh at all, the food was inedible and the service was horrid. This place is a tourist trap through and though probably surviving on being the first restaurant you see as you walk into the china town district. They also segregate the seating into two different sections based on people of Asian descent on one side and then everyone else on the other side, literally divided by a barrier in the middle of the restaurant with the prior group receiving notably better service. Do yourself a favor and stay away, don't make the same mistake I did.

Mediocre grocery-store style chinese food that they reheat for you. Didn't tip because there was no table service even though we were the only ones there, and they got mad at us.

This was the first place I decided to try food in Chinatown and I was pleasantly surprised. I am a picky eater as I have stomach issues but the waiter Collin (hope I spell his name correctly) was very patient and the cook delivered exactly what I was looking for. It was delicious, fresh and generous amount. Recommend this place. It was clean and in a nice location as well

The food is disgusting, the price is experiencing!
The First, they don't ask me which tea I would like to drink, but they charge us the tea fee.
The second, the food are disgusting. I ordered lunch special, the chow man is dry, the deep fried chicken and prawn oils and no favor, too much flour. The fired rice too dry and too hard.
The server make me uncomfortable. We are 4 adults and 2 children. We told the server we were not very hungry, we wanted to order 3 meals, but the server remind us just 3 meals, then my parents add 1 more meal. Finally we had 1 meal left.

The most important thing is the total is $67 dollars, but I don't know why they charge us $77, then I ask the server "is the price including tips? " she said "yes. " I hated they didn't let me know the price including tips. (Luckily I checked the bill, if not I'll pay the double tip.) Then I paid $77 for the unpalatable lunch.

For sure I would come again.

My favourite place for Chinese food. Great food and service. I recommend the crab with fish maw soup, Sam-see and house special chowmein, and crispy chicken. My personal favourite is shredded duck with preserved vegetables with thin rice noodles in soup.

I was not impressed. After many people told me how great this food was after moving here I decided I wud finally try it. We had the plate for 2 and everything was no more than a 2 out of 5. The puffy shrimp was small inside and batter was very greasy, pork was very fatty and the almond chix was tasteless. I found a hair in the sause and the won ton soup was phleh. I will not recommend or go back. There are by far many better places to eat in china town in downtown Victoria

Got very sick after eating the (A dinner) think it was the fried rice. My wife ate the (A dinner) with chow mein she didn't get sick.
My thought are to never go here again.i was in bed for 3 hours with a stomach ache then when I got up had violent diarrhea. Be safe ppl

Incredibly good War Wonton Soup. Three of us shared a large bowl. Lots of seafood, wontons and greens quenched our hunger. Excellent service and good value.

I have pretty low standards for Chinese food but this was just awful. Ordered chow mein, sweet and sour chicken balls, and an egg roll, literally nothing was enjoyable. The chow mein was especially revolting, it was super dry and flavourless, and the chicken balls had a very thick doughy batter. They even managed to ruin an egg roll, possibly the first time I've ever had a bad one. I've tried almost every Chinese restaurant in Victoria and this was the worst so far. If youre ordering skip the dishes, i would suggest Shanghai city or Fountain

This restaurant delivered excellent customer service to me and my family. Their food is delicious and we will definitely be back. Great Chinese food in Victoria, eat here!

A very good Chinese restaurant in Victoria. The food is good and the prices are decent. There usually is not a wait but when there is it isnt very long. The dinner combos are very good and they have great chow mein!

Our family of 6 has been enjoying Chinese in China Town on Christmas Eve for several years and for the first time tried Ocean Garden. We will be back next year and probably sooner. The place was rocking busy. The food delicious. Service was very good and all for great value. Check it out.

Right at the corner of the entrance to China Town. Great location but bad service and so so good. With a eat or take a hike attitude I am surprised this is even worthy of a review. Food is somewhat western stylish standard sweet and sour pork and the usual chow mein noodles. If you are in the area I would take a pass on this one.

To preface, I'm used to Chinese food from California. This restaurant is the closest business on Vancouver island to provide food which I am familiar with and taste good. I really enjoy the mushu chicken, but it takes a while for the wraps to warm up. You have a great selection of hot stew pots. And their kung pao chicken has just the right amount of vegetables and nuts in it, mixed in with spices. I always visit this restaurant whenever I'm in Victoria, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do

Daughter liked the szechuan beef. I did not care for the egg fu young, and I normally love egg fu young. I also thought the tea tasted off somehow.

The meal came so quickly, I ordered the prawn fried rice and chicken curry sauce. It tasted so good, rich and well seasoned. It is the best chinese spot in Victoria. Easy to navigate its location, looking forward to having lunch there again.

Our go to place for excellent, fresh and steaming hot Chinese food every time. We've been going to this restaurant for at least 20 years. If I see tourists trying to decide which Chinese restaurant to go to when they are in China town, I always tell them they can't go wrong eating at Ocean Garden.

Great value.for mediocre Chinese food. I apologize for being critical; but the seafood in the "seafood and tofu hot pot" has too much baking soda; I can taste it in the soup. The szechuan beef is missing any hint of the szechuan pepper corn; it was not even spicy! I am disappointed.
