Ole chicken

I’m heartbroken.this place used to be my go to for a good atmosphere and great chicken, unfortunately it seems the owner has changed and therefore the quality of food has plummeted. I ordered a half-half chicken and kimchi jjigae to share with friends and noticed the portions have shrunk significantly and tasted below sub par. Considering you’re charging $17 for a kimchi soup I would expect it to taste more than red pepper flakes and vegetable broth. The chicken itself would have been better off still clucking (the lack of seasoning [EVEN SALT] was laughable, not to mention the Yangnyeom chicken somehow tasted like instant curry powder). We also tried to order Soju and they were apparently sold out of EVERYTHING except the $27 option. A very unfortunate end of an era, RIP OG OLÈ CHICKEN: (

! IMPORTANT REVIEW READ!
I need to begin by explaining that none of my statements are exaggerated in any way. This was by far the WORST experience I have ever had in any store/restaurant. Period. The experience was immediately sour. When we (a group of six) were first seated and asked our order, we waited a full 20 minutes before we were even given water. I went to ask the server for water which she said she would then get, but we didn’t get it for another 20 minutes. This was just the beginning (and again, this was all timed). We ordered two bowls of rice, which the server appeared to make no progress on fulfilling until 30 minutes into our experience, where the server got out two bowls of rice AND LEFT THEM ON HER COUNTER TO GO COLD. Finally, an actual hour in, we got our kimchijige (kimchi stew) and two cold rice bowls. The only thing keeping us from leaving was each other and a hope that the food was good. When the kimchijige arrived, there was barely any substance. All we were given was a little bit of soup, a couple tofu, and a couple kimchi. There was also supposed to be meat in it, but we got only a single piece (image attached). We had also gotten kimchi, which costed three dollars when it’s free everywhere else, and we were given an absolute pitiful amount (see image). Also, we had ordered a coke but still didn’t receive it, so we asked the server and it took her five whole minutes to get a single can of soda from the refrigerator less than a dozen meters from our table. Remember, this is an hour into the meal, and we still were waiting on two ramens and a normal roppoki. When we FINALLY received our ramens twenty more minutes later, the cook had absolutely drowned it in sesame oil. I’m a Korean and it makes absolutely no sense that this type of oil would be put in the ramen to such an extent, clearly an American cook throwing whatever bottles that has Asian writing into our meal. The cook hadn’t even put in the whole egg that we ordered in the ramen. ——-What the most abominable part of this experience was when the server tried to serve us another customer’s food. ——-Before getting our ramen, we saw the server going to another table (we thought it would be our food after such a long wait) with a cheese roppoki, then returning with it just a minute later. An hour and 30 minutes into our experience, we asked for our roppoki twice in five minute intervals, and both times the server said “oh I’ll check. ” When she finally came back to us, she asked whether we wanted roppoki with cheese instead of the normal roppoki we ordered. This lady was actually going to serve us the same food that another customer refused dozens of minutes prior, we told them no, and now at the two hours mark the server came with our normal roppoki, again drowned with sesame oil. Was it busy? Nope, there were three-four small groups around all waiting for their food for hours like us. The unoccupied tables were covered with filthy plates. The workers too lazy to clean them up. When we finally went to leave, there was a long line of customers who wanted their check because the server was off in lala land just walking around doing nothing. We needed to wait ten minutes to LEAVE. There was no way in the world we were going to leave a tip, but it turned out that because we were a group of six, an automatic 18% tip was granted to this joke of a worker.

If the owner sees this review, I’d greatly appreciate getting some sort of compensation (or at least some explanation) cause this was an absolute dumpster fire of a dinner.

Wow… where to begin. We ordered at around 7: 40 p.m. Then rechecked the time at 8: 00 p.m. No waters nor the 2 beers and coke we ordered. Mind you, there were only 4 other tables in this store. We checked the time again at 8: 25, the first stew came. Second thing we ordered came at 8: 35. All was fine and we expected our last item to come within 10 minutes. It had been 20 minutes since our second item so I decided to ask where our third item was. The server said that she would “check” on it. We overheard her bringing the wrong order to the table next to us. A few moments later, the server asks if it was okay that they replace our third order with the order they made as a mistake for the table next to us! Despicable. It took an hour and 30 minutes for our entire table to receive their order, with each order about 20 minutes between each other. Unfortunately we were forced to give a 18% gratuity tip because we were a group of 6, although we wanted to give no tip at all. I wish I could give this place zero stars.

Restaurant staff were great and let us know about all the different promotions. I know KFC from living in Korea and this is the best I have had in North America. Very reminiscent of a place I went to in Hong Dae. We had a great time and great food. 너무 좋았습니다

Quite place on a very busy street. Great food. Kimchi rice was and chicken was so delicious! K-pop playing on projector was cool.

Wasn't able to buy because they didn't have combinations for a single person. Only portions were available. Don't know how 1 person is supposed to buy there.

We had an amazing time at this restaurant last night. The service was amazing, the staff were all so helpful and nice, and the food was delicious. Thank you for making our friend's birthday so great:)

Popped in looking for somewhere that offers takeaway so I could take it back to the hotel. What a find! This place was delicious. Sweet and Spicy chicken is my new favourite followed closely by the noodles and pork.

My friend ALBERT was a great server and offered great service! Appreciate him for treating us well and providing laughs! Had a great time and the food was delicious ️

Service is fine but the food is far from ok nor authentic Korean style…I ordered a fried potato noodles with pork… and the first photo shows how little pork inside…and it is not worth $18 at all… And for my fd’s choice… it’s even worse. He ordered a seafood soup and usually korean restaurant would offer rice with it. It didn’t, which is fine. But tht soup was just some red water with almost nothing inside (maybe a few pieces of small frozen squid) and it costs like $2x? It is a total scam even in downtown. We were so confused with that soup and I saw other review said they tho it was leftovers…it was exactly how we thought! Fried chickens look good but taste not good, very salty, Will not go back again. And we spent almost $60 eating these, it’s insane.

Awesome Korean chicken! So far the best in town and amazing portions:) the dining place is a bit too dark but staff are great and helpful as well.definitely coming back

Good place to go for late night grub. Casual vibe, dimly light, and kind servers. The food is delicious, but a tad overpriced.

Nice and vibe place. Beautiful interior. Expensive if you are going alone but worth it if you are going as group. Would recommend and go again

Hands down to the best korean chicken I’ve ever tried. Love the flavors and the price was just right for the amount of chicken that was served to us. There’s tons of people dining here though so I didn’t enjoy the part where it was loud and I can’t hear myself talking to my friend that much. (It was friday night) Anyway, I came for the food and they did not disappoint!

It’s amazing Korean place to enjoy your night nice music choices food is so tasty making your order might take up 15to 20 minutes but it’s so delicious I got my chicken and Iam happy with the great taste? If you are dt Vancouver you absolutely want to visit this place and they do delivery 2 I gave it 4 stars only for timing if making your order other than that it’s very good

Heard about this place from my friends and decided to give a try. The restaurant looks kidna cute. Pretty busy and packed with people during dinner time. A bit of the wait but not too long. Service was ok.
The spicy squid was good though too spicy, wish we could adjust the spicy level. Chicken also good but more on the pricey side.
Worth a visit and recommend to group of 4-5, you can share and try different dishes

I went there 3 times but it was great.
One thing is that pls update your restaurant information so that we can know how long does ur restaurant open and when will it close.

I wanna go there again!
One of my fav restaurants

First time at Ole Korean Fried Chicken on Robson Street. Yummy fried chicken. The fried chicken is perfectly balanced between sweet and spicy. Staff were great and friendly. Definitely give this place a try if you're looking for some hot fried chicken that's a little different from everywhere else. Recommend.
