Ora Sushi

We had a lovely dinner at Ora Sushi this evening. Food was tasty, although portions were on the smaller side. We ordered the sunomono salad, gomae salad, volcano roll, and vegetable yakisoba. The service was exceptional and worth mentioning - we were greeted by and waited on by two young servers (I think their names were Midori and Damien?) who were both friendly and courteous. Despite it being quite busy in the dining room that evening, we really appreciated the attentive and efficient service they provided throughout our meal. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and highly recommended!

If I could leave zero stars I would. We have ordered delivery for them before and the food was mediocre. My husband wanted sushi and we were in Steveston Village so we went in. Yesterday, Saturday Nov 25. It was busy, and there were a few dirty tables. The waitress shoved us in a tiny corner table, telling us it was a tight squeeze. The next family that walked in right behind us, was seated nicely at a large table in the middle middle of the restaurant. After 15 minutes of sitting there, with no service, the middle aged server ran over. We ordered everything all at once. We never received our green tea, and she proceeded to bring dishes to the table that we didn’t order. I explained to her. We did not order tempura. We did not order edamame, and she argued with me and said we did, and slammed the edamame down on the table. She brought over another roll that we did not order. I told her, we did not order this. She was frustrated and left it on the table. She did, however take the tempura and deliver it to the table two down from us. So obviously, she had made a mistake. I have a prawn allergy and ordered a deep-fried California roll. My husband ordered a dynamite roll which has prawns. I told her of my allergy. My husband never got his dynamite roll. She brought over a deep-fried dynamite roll and put it in front of me. I said, are you sure this is a California roll? She said yes. And walked off. Thank God I looked through the roll…. Otherwise I would’ve gone into anaphylactic shock. After waiting about another 20 minutes for the Server to return to let her know of the error, she didn’t come to the table. At this point, we have been sitting in the restaurant for two hours. I try to explain the error to her after I walked up to the till where she was standing, and she Was increasingly frustrated with me, insisting that I had made a mistake. Pretty sure I don’t order prawns when they could kill me. We finally got our bill. A younger Server, who was quite lovely and very apologetic, brought it over. The older Server never returned to speak to us. The young girl was embarrassed and very kind. I thanked her for being kind And professional. Our bill was exactly what we had ordered, Although we didn’t receive all our items. We paid and left. I also have come to learn that on their website, they advertise that they support wigs for kids. These are new owners. They took a bunch of money that was supposed to go towards wigs for kids and kept it. Wigs for kids never received the money from the new owners, and they are falsely advertising. Absolutely terrible business. Terrible service. The owner should be embarrassed - this is coming from someone who has worked in the service industry for 18 years.

Love the food at this Steveston location, however a bit pricey for the portion size. The service would’ve been good, however, it was such a slow service.

Sashimi was tasty and fresh. My wife and I have visited this place several times in the last couple of months including my birthday. The service was on point each visit and the fish was fresh. The value is definitely comparable to other places but I find the food tastier for price here.

Expensive, small servings and bad service.was ignored by servers multiple times and the sashimi was sooo small not worth $30

Food is good but the service is always super slow. Don't go if you're starving, you will waiting a while!

We hopped in here on a whim while touring Steveston and it was the best decision we could have made- food was delicious from the first sip of tea to the last bite of sushi, portions were great and served with cool, creative presentation, I had to Shazam the background music a few times because it was so lovely, and the lady taking our order was incredibly welcoming and fun! Thank you for making our day.

Very good place, food is delicious and prices are good. It's my son's favorite restaurant in Richmond.

Most of their menu is edible but they will serve fish not fresh. The server had no sympathy to offer even a small discount on items not touched.lol

This is the first time I go and probably would be the last. I seldom give a low star rating unless it’s really bad. This place is overpriced and food is mediocre. The portion of the food is so little. Especially the pork katsu, there’s only 2 bites of rice and the pork chop was dry and thin like paper. There’s too many choices out there.

Service was not bad though. The server would refill the tea for us when served dishes to our table.

Overpriced, poor customer service and food was not even close to what it was supposed to be. Not to mention that the portion sizes were too small too. So much so, in addition to soup that we ordered to start with, we ordered 3 main dishes for 2 people. Yet, we both came out of the restaurant hungry. While most often we come home with our leftovers after dining out. Disappointed ️ and don’t recommend this restaurant.

Had lunch here today. Ichiro was fully booked so we found this place. There were only 2 other tables of diners so we got seated right away. The servers are very young and inexperienced and clearly don't know anything about Japanese food or their own menu. The service was horrible. The food however was very good and reasonably priced. We won't be back but if you want good food at a reasonable price and don't mind waiting for it and asking several times for it, this place will suffice.

We went here on Canada Day and it was packed! Even though the resto was full of customers, the servers were able to serve our order quickly.

Prices are reasonable and the owners and crew are very nice. Food tastes yummy!

I used to be a loyal customer, but I don't think I will return to this place. Last time we noticed the food hadn't the same quality, but we thought it was a specific problem. Today I had the worst experience. I don't know if they changed the owner or manager. It's not worth, it's overpriced! Actually, the price is the same, but they reduced the food amount a lot, the quality isn't the same, the service were lack. The sushi thickness is now 1/3 in comparison to the sushi in the past, the food were bland, We waited too much for our food and my husband's food arrived about 10 minutes after. The waitress used to offer tea or water, checked if everything was ok with the food and paid attention to customer needs. I don't know if they didn't receive a training. I am really sad for writing this review because I always recommended this place to my friends.

We go to Ora to celebrate ours birthdays and just lunch out, love the California rolls, tempura and BC roll, the veggi sonomono salad is delicious. Being disabled I always reserve a window table as it's more room and I can see my scooter outside the window.

Fresh, affordable and delicious! Love this place and it's in the heart of Steveston. Dine in or take out they never disappoint.

The Japanese restaurant we regularly visit was packed so we came to Ora sushi but will not be returning.

Service: Terribly lacking
When we went in the server (lady with pony tail and glasses) just looked up from the bussing station and didn't bother addressing us at all. The place was emptied so we seated ourselves.

There were no other tables, yet she didn't bring us any water nor come to take our order for 20 mins until we called out to her, then she acknowledged us but continued to organize empty take out boxes/folding bags and came over 15 mins later stating she was ready. We were quite ready, to walk out the door from being ignored.

When the food came, instead of placing it on the table, she would hover it and wait for us to understand she is passing it to us and have us to take the dish and set it on the table ourselves.

There were no refills of water and whenever we asked for anything, it would take her awhile to bring it. When other tables started coming in, another server came out to help, which was much more friendly and competent. Hopefully the restaurant would be able to properly train the first server to up their game.

Food: Edible but low quality
The sashimi still had fish bones. Food portions are very small, almost half the size we'd get at the other restaurant but prices were par to other places.

In general it was an unpleasant experience, there would be a lot for this restaurant to work on.

We intended to have Greek food that day but ended up here coz our original choice was closed, and we're glad we came in. This is one of the best Japanese restaurant in Richmond. The salad is loaded with seafood, i kinda want to ask for extra greens. The sauce has a nice touch of spicy flavor that's good to the palate. Unlike other teryaki don I have tried in Richmond where the bowl is heavy on rice that is almost losing its flavor, this rice bowl is just perfect to make tummy satisfied. Although our order of soft crab came in late, it was still worth the wait. I will come back to try the Ora tower next visit and will update this posting.

Portion was small for the price. Food had plastic inside them. Service was garbage. Would have given 0 stars if possible.

Intended to have brunch at another restaurant but it was closed. Glad I decided to try here out. Enjoyed my meals and the waitress was friendly.it was my first trying hot Sake. It wasn’t what I expected lol (I’m not a fan of beer, it tasted so much like beer). Good service.loved the bibimbap

Awesome place for get to go sushi to satisfy your cravings! Strongly recommend you try wild sockeye salmon oshi and the tuna tataki rolls. The food is ready fast and you can order online.

Too expensive!
She totally ripped me off so I recommend not to go Ora sushi.
If there is 0 star I would do that, also there was the worst services ever!

The lady in this restaurant was super rude. I ordered take out and paid, and the lady then started showing all the attitude/impatience and rude gesture and even raised her voice only when I asked her how long I need to wait because my daughter is at a workshop and waiting for the lunch, and she kept on saying she was busy and then she started yelling at me. I've never seen a person could be this disrespectful to the customers in my life. When I said I wanted to cancel the order because of her attitude, first she said she couldn't do refund to my credit card and can only do cash (even I told her this is COVID period and I'd like to be refunded to my credit card) and refused to provide the receipt. She then rudely forced me to take the coins and forced me to leave the restaurant, and she even told the server and the other lady who worked at this restaurant not to talk to me and ignoring my request of receipt. When I requested to talk to the manager and I was told she is the manager at this restaurant. This was an awful and terrifying experience. I was shocked how a business can run like this and how a customer could be treated like this. Will never go back to this restaurant!
