Original's Café Mexicano

Carina was our waitress for the second half of our meal and she was very friendly and gave wonderful service! Give her a raise!
Every other waitress/waiter seemed to be out of it a little.

An older house turned into a restaurant. Friendly staff, good food, but prices tend to be on a higher side. Will be coming back to try different menu options next time.

Amazing second visit to Original’s Café Mexicano. Food is amazing and we love the atmosphere of this place. It’s so wonderful. Favourite item to order is the bartender’s choice!

We wouldn’t come back again though - the server made the experience very uncomfortable, constantly pushing for people to add paid extras, trying to convince people to get drinks, and ask if we want “guacamole side to share”. We eventually gave it to a guacamole side which ended up being a pathetic tiny cup of guacamole for $5.50 and didn’t come with a single chip.

Went there on the Mexican independence day and they had special menu. Everything from appetizers, cocktail and main dish was tasty. Highly recommended

Very expensive. Automatically charged a 18% tip and just said that when the bill arrived and we asked. The kids plate took more than 15 minutes to be served after main plates. We asked a lot to complete the order and two times came incomplete.

Had a terrible experience here. Came here on a beautiful day and it wasn’t too crowded. Had to wait at least 5 mins before I had to promptly ask someone for a table. After that waited 10 mins and never got a menu. Had to ask for that too. Got the menu and waitress comes to take the order 10 seconds after we get the menu so we asked for a couple of minutes. Waited 10 mins and no one comes to take the order. We walked out as it wasn’t worth our time. The menu items are ridiculously overpriced for such a shabby place too

A charming little hacienda (Vancouver style) with a big, shaded yard, where they serve up exquisite, authentic Mexican cuisine. This is a family run business where they just love to feed you. You really have to eat here, many times, to appreciate what they've accomplished.

Delicious food! The ingredients were high quality and fresh. The portion sizes were large and the staff was super friendly!

Heres my take guys hope it helps:

1. Very Overpriced for average at best mexican food that you can eat anywhere else.
2. Very slow. Took 45min for 3 order of tacos to come out.
3. Taco was meeh. Below average taste with not enough portion specially for the price.
4. Enchilada was not bad
5. Server was nice though.

Overall, the place seems to be overhyped and the food you get for the price doesn't make sense to me. I cannot recommend sadly.

The food was slightly overpriced for the quality you get. Could be spicier as well, found the spice level to be very mild. The chocolate cake dessert we got was definitely the highlight!

Awesome food, great drinks, TOP NOTCH service! This is truly an authentic Mexican restaurant in every sense of the word! Our server, Mauricio was amazing and made our evening very enjoyable. The private covered back patio was perfect for our dining party. I can't recommend this place enough. This will be our go-to for Mexican food from now on. No others in the area come close to comparison!

Food is good but service is i would say… poor
Upon entering the store had an server ignore me after I said Hello, even after eye contact. Reserved for 2 and asked for a patio table and was sent towards the back covered by trees. Asked to be seated on the patio table in the front by the sun (4 tables open). Was told that those were reserved for parties of 3.30 minutes later 3 of the tables were seated by parties of 2. No apologies after too. More like “it is what it is attitude. ” Might have been an anomaly that day but I wouldnt visit again.

Absolutely amazing and beautiful place! Understaffed for lunch the day that we went there. However, they were super apologetic, super accommodating and the food was next level. The drinks were made with care and the recommendations for food and drink were top. Notch. Definitely will be back because this is a special spot indeed!

Ordered take out in advance yesterday for late pick up. Showed up right on time but the food was room temp. Ordered a steak burrito and instead got some weird steak disk with a cooked cactus? The rest of the food was good but dissapointing since it was all cold. Would probably give them another chance on a slow day or lunch instead.

My go to restaurant in the lower mainland. Authentic, excellent food served by polite, engaging people. Incredibly quaint setting too.

Poor management. Took the manager 10 minutes to decide if they have space for one person or not. They were hardly sorry for it.

Average quality, tight portions and expensive. The 20% minimum tip prompt is audacious. Dining options in the area are limited; this value proposition would not survive in most cities.

Since there is no nearby competition they are doing OK. The service is very friendly but I have had better mexican food other places.

Overall, I love the atmosphere. I like the coziness, the laid back and the friendly staff. The food is good. I was only disappointed with the ceviche. That was the main dish I was looking forward to after visiting Mexico. The ceviche consist mainly prawn as the seafood. I wish the menu would have put more description. The one I had in Mexico had fish as well. Just my expectation too hype. Highly recommend for date night and hangout with friends

Food is so good, ambiance is fantastic, make sure you reso on the weekends! It can get busy! Don’t show up to a tiny mom and pop restaurant and expect to be seated in 5 minutes during dinner time Port Moody Gen Xers!

For this birthday celebration dinner we booked a table for 3, and were seated at small deuce. There was nothing else available.
The margaritas were excellent, the nachos good. We should have stopped there. Our main courses: quesadillas, chile relleno, and lamb (at $39) were underwhelming.
Miss the quaint service and atmosphere of the family restaurant.

Wonderful friendly staff and awesome food. A family reunion of 13, we ate there on Sunday and enjoyed very much. Recommend this cozy restaurant in Port Moody.

Placed an order at 9: 00 pm and the staff were still nice and helpful. Best Mexican cuisine that I have had to date! Waited about 35-40 minutes for my food but it was so worth it! Highly recommend and I will definitely be going back soon.

Really great time here. Homey feel, prices are pretty reasonable, and the food was delicious. Also, the staff, whilst busy til the night got later, were very friendly, and made the dinner that much better. 10/10 would recommend

I used to love this place, supported it through covid, and recommended it to numerous friends but something has changed recently. The quality of food (beef is chewy, basically no cheese & too many beans) and attention to detail (incomplete dishes - missing key ingredients) has diminished noticeably. Unfortunately I will take a break for awhile.

Had a beautiful lunch today. Shared chicken fajitas and Baha fish tacos. Such amazing flavour! Will absolutely be back as every dish that came out of the kitchen looked amazing!

The ceviche and bartender's choice margarita were both great but the highlight was the barbacoa! This is the best mexican food I've had in the Lower Mainland and the ambiance is fantastic too!
