Best coffee shop in Nelson! The staff works wonders when they are busy. Such a cozy place too!

Food is great and it is one of the hang-outs in Nelson. Personally, I find Oso's coffee too intensely roasted, but that does not diminish it's popularity. A must if you visit Nelson!

Always busy, but somehow we always got a seat. The coffee was amazing (I tried the Americano and oat cappuccino) as well as the soup, Bagels and yummy baked goods. Clearly we went back a few times

Number one reason I love this place, is that there was somewhere I could bring my dog. Breakfast bun on croissant with all toppings was PREMIUM DELICIOUSNESS. Iced latte coffee was next level amazing. Will be returning

We went twice and tried the muffins, breakfast bun, coffee, and chocolate croissant. Muffins and bun were perfect but croissants aren’t the best.

The most popular coffee shop in town. Each place has their specialty. There are a variety of Panini to suite any palate with a selection of other savouries. The baked goodies and treats always please. The hot chocolate is excellent, however, soy is the only alternative if you are non- dairy but still my first choice.

Coffee is quite good, nicely priced and vibe is charming, but pastries are on par with Starbucks, not great.

Is it at this place for the first time, as a first-time visitor to Nelson, British Columbia. This place was wonderful! Loved the atmosphere, the coffee, and the space itself. Some of the best espresso I've had. Will absolutely visit the next time I'm in town!

Charming coffee shop, with a really nice outdoor patio. An outstanding egg sandwich: a "breakfast bun" that can be ordered on a croissant. The cafe gets busy, but the staff is very efficient and friendly, so the waits aren't bad.

Vibes are on point. Great in-house nitro cold brew, served with coffee ice cubes. I added a little milk and it was perfect. I should note they don’t do syrups here so be mindful of that when ordering. I also ordered the salmon bagel it came with cream cheese already spread on it; on the side it had red onions, capers, and a ton of salmon it was roughly 9 bucks. Great price point and very delicious. Great space for friends and family to hang out but does get a little busy during the morning and around the 2 o’clock mark. Worth the wait though!

Some people might find Oso a bit cliche now, but they really do have the best coffee in town. Also the best outdoor sitting area you'll find anywhere. You might find the food suffering from an abundance of woke/vegan, but it's still a great spot.

Just a beautiful little coffee shop. Take the time to sit down and enjoy your coffee inside or on the patio, you won't regret it. Also my latte was da bomb!

The best Americano’s and satisfying, tasty treats! This place is divine in summer, with the beautiful gardens and dappled light. The vibes are so chill and everyone that comes here seems to just want to relax and hang out.

One of my favourite coffee shops, not only for the coffee but also for the vibes! The outdoor patio and sitting area is the things that dreams are made of. Every time I come to Nelson I stop in here. They definitely use a darker roast of coffee for their cold brew, but was a good treat! Would highly recommend stopping in here!

This coffee spot seems to be very popular, we generally like the single origin coffees with bright acidic flavours, and the coffee here is a dark roast. So it wasn't what we were looking for, but the coffee spectrum is wide so I'm sure it's a favourite for many folks. The spinach and feta pastry was delicious and I could eat 10 more of them.

Wildly busy, but coffee was yummy and the breakfast bagel, while waited for a while, was very delicious and definitely worth the wait! I really, really loved how the cafe is set up (inside and especially outside). I wish there was less of a crowd to be able to actually enjoy it.

Lovely place, can be quite busy, but that's probably because they sell good stuff. We had coffee and breakfast, enjoyed both a lot. And we used the WiFi for scheduling our trip.

Great energy in Oso Negro’s cafe. Steadily busy and lively. Great coffee and consistently high quality beans. Food is good too! Had the kale/edamame salad, and a sweet pickle baguette; both were delicious. Second visit I had the sweet potato patty - also great! Highly recommend stopping here for your morning coffee and snack.

My favourite Cafe in Nelson! The outdoor seating and gardens are beautiful. The staff are friendly and take coffee seriously, in a good way. Such a fun environment.

Zero Stars - Management Epic Fail!
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around a coffee shop.that serves muffins.and can't heat them. What did they think the point was? I didn't even get to find out if there was butter available. Oso, it's 2021, almost 2022. Microwaves are not evil. They are not witchcraft. They are a simple tool for a healthy business. That fact that you can't heat a muffin in your store undermines my confidence in you and your credibility. The coffee shop market in Nelson is too competitive for you not to heat muffins (and have butter for them).

I wanted to love this place so much. It is so cute and seems to be so so popular.

Unfortunately the coffee/cappuccino was some of the worst we’ve ever had…the coffee was incredibly weak and the milk and foam honestly horrendous…sorry to say this, but the girls behind the counter were super friendly but knew literally nothing about coffee.

Anyways, if you’re looking for a beautiful little spot, definitely check it out. If you’re looking to enjoy a great coffee, skip…there are so many other great coffee shops in Nelson.

This place absolutely deserves and justifies it's high rating - I had a sensational flat white along with a freshly baked lemon and blackberry muffin that disappeared in record time. The setting was great and even though they were busy, they had the staff to keep the line moving. Get amongst it

Best place for the coffee lovers. They go the extra mile by letting you tell them how much water and milk you want in your coffee.

What a gem. I'd say a hidden gem, but it's always slammed. Despite being so busy they are quick quick quick. Great breakfast sandwich. Unreal coffee.

Love the uniqueness and how it is locally roasted. The staff are friendly and the seating area is very nice and outdoorsy. The food is great and the coffee is good.
It is a little confusing about where to pick up though. Somethings pick up is outside and others it’s inside….

This is not just a coffee shop, this is a place you must experience. The garden is so serene. There is such a peaceful feeling the moment one walks up the unique steps. The coffee is great, the food is delicious. This place holds a piece of my heart.

After living in Nelson for 20 years, I had to move back to the coast to be with family. So great that I can order 10lbs of my favorite coffee, and its roasted, packaged and shipped the same day, and I get it the next day in North Vancouver. Love Dark Roast, love you guys. Thanks

I was just telling my kids this is likely the best coffee shop I have ever been to. It is a fantastic setting, fair prices, efficient and friendly staff and plenty of food/drink options. Two thumbs up to the owner!

Great coffee and vibrant atmosphere with hand made furniture decorated with bear paw prints. There is plenty of tables inside if you want to enjoy local artist’s paintings or you can seat outside to enjoy patio or cozy garden.

Great coffee outrageous prices. I am a local to the area and can barely afford this place.for the price they should be using an eco friendly (Loring) roaster and at least sealing the bags of coffee but alas they are just in it for the profits so what do you expect.

It’s hard to imagine there is a more beautiful coffee shop in the world, so it is always a treat to stop by when we are in the Kootenay’s and have coffee and great eats in a garden that totally fills the soul.
Our last visit the owner was there and was so kind to stop and chat about the history, architecture and garden. It’s one thing to serve great coffee, but to create and take such joy in sharing this with others takes this to a whole different level!

A favorite of my family. They offer unique blends of coffee to drink and to buy the beans aswell. Amazing and beautiful scenery when sitting on their outdoor patio. Definitely worth stopping buy if anywhere near by.

OH BABY! Now I may just have had the finest coffee in my life. We also had breakfast buns which were so beautifully presented. They were very good. Prices here are good. Service is excellent and friendly, which must be part of Oso's culture because it was busy. The line moves fast and there is plenty of seating.

I had never been hear and decided to agree to be taken for casual conversation with my father. It didn't really live up to the hype as I couldn't even order a drink I would typically get when I ever do go to a cafe. The atmosphere was really awesome though! I wasn't completely disappointed but I also wasn't completely satisfied.

This place has great coffee and breakfast sandwiches but don't expect to get in and out any time soon! Waited 35 min to get a breakfast sandwich and Finlay had to leave and get a refund! Was not a great experience

Lineups so long it takes 20min to get to the counter, then another 30 waiting for your meh food, just to find not a single place to sit. Great hot chocolate though.

Sloshed coffee on my hand trying to put the stupid lid on. The barista was more interested in wiping up the mess I made instead of the steaming coffee on my hand. Noticed a sink on my way out and was able to get some cold water on the burn. Coffee was ok. My first experience will probably be my last.

Probably the best know coffee shop in town. The outside is a great place to sit in good weather, amazingly well landscaped

Delicious coffee! So many seating areas to relax and enjoy your coffee and snacks. They have vegan and vegetarian options for food and pastries! I love their outdoor sitting area - lots of plants and birds. Bring your own mug or cup-if you have take out they'll charge you 25 cents.

Great atmosphere, great service, food is super varied for every diet, and the coffee was fantastic. The locals recommend it so you know it's the place to go!

Coffee so good I visited this place twice on my 24 hours in Nelson. Both indoor and outdoor seating areas are beautiful, the quality of coffee is high, and the biscotti is to die for! The staff seemed friendly. Would definitely go back!

Nice local roaster that is understandably busy. Line up was out the door in the morning so be prepared to have a leisurely wait. Not a show-stopper, but a good heads up for anyone in a hurry. Great patio outside. When you ask for a double shot of espresso, ask yourself if you are prepared for liftoff - she’s strong! (Do you guys add anything to the coffee?)

Love the coffee. Great treats. Very good panini. But the benches outside and the chairs inside aren't very comfortable.

Great setting to sit, people watch and enjoy a reasonably priced coffee drink. Staff are courteous and quick. Drinks are hot. Coffee is bold but not bitter.

This is a must stop for Nelson! Every time I come through I stop and pick up a couple bags of beans to keep in the freezer. The food is good, but the coffee is better. Get a dandelion Latte and sit on the unique, photo worthy patio.

Best breakfast sandwich and mocha. Love the atmosphere. There is usually a lineup, but it moves along quickly.

Fantastic coffee with an incredible patio to drink it on. The coffee is roasted daily and a good amount of take home coffee beans as well. Definitely a place to visit when going to Nelson.

Excellent coffee and treats and beautiful patio/garden! It also enjoy their a chai lemonade. Great spot to spend time, also really like their playlist.

One of my favourite places as the outside seating area is so unique with sculptural railings, water features and great landscaping.

While living in Nelson I always bought a medium to-go drip light roast for $2.25. Also the breakfast buns served in the morning are delicious for $5.50 with added pemeal bacon
This place is beautiful in the warmer seasons with a nice patio area in the front and also at the side of Oso. Buying their brand of coffee was easy and good for my french press. Good music and friendly staff. Owner is stuffy though. Overall best caffe in Nelson. Reasonable prices for Nelson

Amazing place. We bought some coffee and enjoyed the smell in the car for days. Beautiful outdoor seating area and yummy food. Love it.
