Terrible claim submission system. There is no place to leave comments on your claims to explain situations.
My pharmacy filled my prescription before I needed it filled. When I picked it up a month later I submitted it to Blue Cross. It is now under review as the date on the receipt is from a month ago. Now I have to wait and call them, as they will not, ever, provide me with an explanation as to why my claim was denied.
Perhaps they should start basing claims on the day the receipt is submitted so we don't get screwed out of our money.
They also say on their website that they cover certain drugs. Unfortunately they neglect to state that Pharmacare has to approve it first through your doctor before Blue Cross will cover it. So you get your prescription thinking it's covered, but it's not even though on the website they say it is. I'm out a couple hundred from that fiasco too!
Blue Cross needs to do better. Read these reviews and fix their mistakes, putting customers first!

Blue Cross has truly been amazing. They are prompt in their responses and MOST OF ALL it is NOT a nightmare to speak to an actual human!

Please don't consider Blue Cross. Our Pharmacists are leaving, and going to Cognitive Behavior Therapy due to Blue Cross complications. Always ask your pharmacist which health care provider to go with; they are the ones keeping us alive.

Incredibly bad! This company is so unbelievably excellent at stall tactics that it feels like they just want clients to give up on their claim. I have been dealing with a trip interruption claim for well under $100 since October and they continually find excuses and even contradict what previous agents have told me. I feel safe in saying that just about any other insurance company on the planet would be better than Pacific Blue Cross!

I do NOT recommend using Pacific Blue Cross as an individual benefits provider. Customer service is horrible. I have been having a payment issue with them which I have been trying to resolve for months but to no avail because customer service is awful. In short, I paid my one year premium in full but they are claiming they haven't received my payment. After sending in proof of payment multiple times the issue has not yet been resolved and I do not have access to the benefits I paid for.

Inquired for quote through website. First person contacted me through email and over a few messages said he would call me - never did. Tried to email and call to follow up and he said he works until 3: 00. Tried a third time (after 3: 00) only to be ghosted.
Filled out the online form a second time and had appointment confirmed and a different agent didn't call as per the appointment instructions. No contact information given.
Now that I read through some reviews they may have done me a favour by not even connecting in the first place. Don't waste your time to even call.

Once a year I sign in to print my medical expenses for my taxes. Every year it doesn't take my password. Every year it locks me out for 30 minutes then doesn't give me an option to change the password until it's locked me out again. Then I have to phone them and go on hold forever as they don't have a "we will phone you back" option. 1 star is u can expect!

This is my insurance company since it is the one my employer has contacted.
Overall, I usually get no issues to get reimbursed. However, it is very frustrating that the app needs to be updated constantly to fix bugs. Moreover, every time I want to get travel insurance, their app crashes… so I end up getting it from BCAA. It definitely does not give me confidence to get travel insurance through a company that is difficult to reach even in Canada.

The worst insurance company in Canada. The coverage they provide is atrocious. Many times when I've made a claim for a medication or service, I've had to fight them to get them to cover it. It shouldn't be this difficult! The fact I have to constantly advocate to get coverage for life saving medication and services is insane to me. If you're looking for a good insurance company go anywhere else but here.

First, was not explained clearly that the main services I needed were only partially covered and would be incrementally increased over a period of months to years. It’s a money grab and basically using the “small print” to their advantage, holding clients over a barrel basically, having to keep the policy for a long period before can benefit from much of the coverage, be it dental or health, such as chiropractic. This was definitely not explained when I initially called for information and set up the policy
Terrible glitches with their online claim submissions. Spent hours when should have taken minutes and ended up with misinformation and 1 receipt uploading for all my claims and unable to edit or add any more. Kept having to re enter all the info for the service provider (outside of BC). Called a rep and could barely hear her, the line kept cutting out and she took no responsibility for the issues, not even apologizing and basically saying all I could do was keep checking back over the next couple of weeks for the requests for missing documents (which I have ready but system wouldn’t accept).
So frustrating.

One of the worst Insurance Companies I have ever dealt with!

I have been paying premiums with Blue Cross since July. Then 2 months later, they disabled my account and I've been working with them to reinstate it. After complying and filling out countless of forms, they have given me a run around for the past 4 months that the forms are in process. I've always paid premiums on time, since they say "keep your receipts and we can reimburse you when the forms are approved. Paying for 4 months premium on a account that's no longer active, 4 Months later, they tell me claims are rejected.

Why pay for insurance when they don't cover it? Look at all the horror stories of their reviews and you'll find out.

Customer Service is also a waste of time as they are "working on your claim", paying for months of premiums only to know it's rejected.

Blue Cross shows what happens when you allow Americanized health care in Canada. They are overpriced, provide terrible customer service, and leave you in the dark over simple questions.

Blue Cross is an inefficiency that should be removed from the supply chain.

I don’t know why some complain about this app as I fine it most convenient and ease of use. Refund is in my bank account with utmost expediency!
I’ve been with this company for about 50 years now. I didn’t like my yearly allowable going down to 400.00 when I became a senior, but it is their policy.
As far as some claiming they don’t cover certain expenses, you get what you pay for.
Their are varied levels of subscriptions.

Pacific Blue Cross does not make its online format user friendly or efficient. When it updates its system to make claims you have to reenter provider numbers and addresses. Its almost like their operations are designed to discourage claim submissions.

They have the most worst customer service I ever experienced! If you want to get some money back on an early return, you have to call them multiple times and they still do nothing. Employees are totally incompetently. Don't take this insurance! Stay away from them! This service is not even worth one star!

I have used many medical benefit providers and Blue Cross is by far the best (used them for over 7 years in total over 3 companies and I rely on my benefits a lot). Direct billing is often possible (unlike others), submission process is straight forward on web or app, customer service is decent / nice (though their hours suck), and I usually get reimbursed pretty quickly. My only issues with it are more about ym plan itself and not PCB. Recommend.

The web site said that the claim didn't go through and to try again, which was disappointing. But it did go through and if I hadn't checked my email I would have submitted it again. Something should be checked out on your program.

The Bluecross app is a lesson in futility. When most extended health claims require mailing in documents, why bother with the app? Make a one page website that states your address and have done with it.
