Pacific Car Rentals

I'm late to review, but we rented from them in July 2023 and being our first time in Vancouver, we were a bit nervous picking the right rental company.

I've rented cars in Halifax, Florida, Toronto and now Vancouver. They are by far the best company I've used with the nicest cars and friendly people. The best milage allowance to the most easy going to make you feel comfortable using the car.

We're returning to Vancouver in 2024 again, but for a longer visit and planning on using them again and renting the Bronco again.

I don't give praise like this, especially to a rental company very easily because so many issues can pop up.

I want to say thank you to everyone there who helped us. I wish I could remember your name, I'm bad with names, but you see my name here and if you look me up from July 20th for about a week rental, you helped ease our stress and made the return super simple.

Y'all are good people and thank you for making our trip so much better. You put up with us calling constantly because we were very worried our rental would somehow get messed up and we didn't want to be without a car or the bronco we wanted to use. You were patient with us each time and reassured us.

Great prices and outstanding customer service. Not only did they deliver the Jeep and not "or similar", but they followed up with correspondence at various times leading up to the rental to confirm all the details. They were quick to respond to any questions, and the drop off at the airport was so easy and inexpensive. Fantastic overall experience. Thanks for being a big part of the wonderful memories of our trip!

Very unorganized, messy and unhelpful. Booked our car for 9am. When we came to pick up the car, they had some issue with their payment machine and kept us waiting for almost an hour to give us the car. Very unhelpful and frustrating. Finally after an hour, they decided to process the payment from one of their other locations which they could have done earlier so we could have left sooner.
We missed our reservations in whistler where we were going and had to pay a fine for that. When we asked the car rental place to give us a discount atleast for the massive delay and inconvenience they refused.
Would not come back here and would not recommend them to anyone else. Very poor customer service

I rented a BMW 750Li from Pacific Car Rentals in July 2021. I was told there was damage to the rims. They sent me pictures and immediately charged me $1700 for the repairs. I was promised the repair receipts but even after several emails with Jeff over 3 months, they were still never sent to me. My biggest regret is not suing them.

Very efficient staff and excellent location. (just 10 minutes from YVR.
We had a specific vehicle request so Mark brought it for us all the way from downtown location. We had to change it and did the same for us, saving us the hustle of coming to downtown.
Definitely a very professional and excellent customer service that it is VERY rare to find nowadays.
We are super pleased and we will return again.

Rented a van for a large group from the W. Georgia St.location. Service was great, pricing was good, and vehicle was perfect for our group. Would definitely rent from Pacific Car Rentals if in Vancouver in the future.

Got a brand new Ford Expedition with beige interior and panoramic sunroof.

FACILITIES
They have a big parking which make things easy to drop the car.
It’s possible to drop the car OFF HOUR which is perfect.

MONEY
Very good value for money, paid 200 CAD for one day Rent with unlimited mileage. I got my caution back after around one week.

Excellent experience from the beginning to end. We got a 4 WD vehicle that was stated in the contract (not ‘or similar’ as with many other companies) with snow tires that we required for a ski holiday. Very good condition vehicle - no problems and a fair price. Highly recommended.

Awesome to deal with. The only car rental company in Vancouver that picks up the phone when you call them. Way better than the big companies. We needed snow tyres to head up over the Coquihalla Highway into the ski fields in winter. This is one of the very few companies that specify that certain rentals will have snow tyres. I would definitely use them again.

Really great experience with them. Prices are good, car was clean and in great condition. Even came with a jug of windshield washer, which is perfect because it's winter and I used it a lot. The pickup and return was smooth and easy and quick.

I guess only complaint is I wish they have more or better locations. But still worth the drive if you're local and renting.

First class service! One of the few car rental companies that I could get any concrete information about snow tyres. Car was exactly as booked. Simon answered emails promptly. Would 100% recommend to anyone.

I rented Honda Pilot with the winter tires. The handing over and return were super quick and easy. And I like the fact that they have winter tire option so that I get the car with it for sure. Because I called a couple other rental car, some of them have winter tires, but they dont guarantee it.

Perfect, super easy Pickup and Return. Perfect place to Rent a Car when you stay a couple of days downtown and want to explore the neighborhood.

You can also Park the Car there overnight for free.

When we needed a car at short notice they had a selection of cars available when the US majors didn't. When I phoned I went straight to a person who is local and knowledgable, not an international call centre nor a voice messaging system.
Then picking up and returning the car, the service was first class, friendly and efficient. Apparently the company is a family owned local firm. Long may they survive in competition with the massive US conglomerates.

Booked a travel van for a day and wanted to extend for another day, they approved it until 10 am next to next morning, and they called us and said you guys have to deliver van by 5 pm on the same day, how we gonna do that man, we are 3 hours away from city, we are not going to fly with van, You gave us van not the plane that we can drop you van in one hour. They deducted around $ 4300 from my card. When we talk to them they were so rude.

Can’t be more satisfied with both the vehicle and the service. I rented a GMC Yukon for a 3 week vacation and the car didn’t miss a beat. My family and I were very impressed with everything. The service we received when collecting the car was fantastic and the return process was so easy. I can confidently recommend this company to all of my fellow Aussies visiting Canada.

Hi,
We had rented 2 Honda Pilots for 12 days and gave them business of more than $5000.
But when we took the cars the girl Adriana advised us to drop at 3 and the guy who gave us the cars advised us that we can even drop the pickup by 5 or 6.
Even showed us place where to park and drop keys.
Long story short on 2 of July we received call at 3.30 cars are not there and additional charges will apply.

I called them back continously but noone picked up seeing mine number.
I went there at 4.30 to drop it asap as they are in Vancouver downtown and I was in Abottsford.
I asked them politely why were not picking up call and please let me talk to the guy who called.
Adriana said everyone is gone and then Shortly this guy Marc came from back and I asked him you gave us call and he accepted that.
Adriana told me to go out of office asap after finding that she lied.

They charged me full tank of gas which I refilled it already $324 but after my email they refunded and Jeff told me he don't know why this was charged and then additionly they charge me $234 on each vehicle for 90 mins late.
Guys don't fall intrap with 2 dialects from the customer service. Otherwise you will end up paying $500+ for 90 mins like me.

Excellent service. They always responded to all my e mails efficiently. The car was in excellent condition and clean. They guided us to pre book extra mileage.they even agreed to look after our extra bags which wouldn’t fit in the car. Bestest of the best.

So underrated - this place was AWESOME! From the moment we walked in, there was a long line but the staff were efficient and professional and moved through the line quickly. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. All of the cars are fairly brand new and very clean. They even had after hour drop off, so we were able to pay for the day and drop it off without rushing to get back. Great prices as well as for 1 day we paid $90.00 for the rental and got all the way up to whistler! It was so perfect.

Close to downtown so it's very convenient if you are living or traveling in downtown area. Staff are very kind and honest. I think their deal is pretty decent. Had a nice trip with easy help of them with easy spot to park overnight. I am definitely coming back when I'm visiting Vancouver next time!

Great service start to finish by the staff at Pacific car rental (downtown van). Called and reserved, picked up the rental (less then 15mins) and dropped off rental a week later. Highly recommend! Thanks team!

Such a great place to rent a car. I surprised my partner with the Camaro for the weekend, we had such a blast and the guy working the desk was super accommodating and helpful. The whole experience was easy, fun and affordable. I'll definitely rent from you guys again!

Rented a car for my holiday in Vancouver and was extremely happy with the car and the service I received at Pacific Car Rentals. The rental process was easy and straight forward, I would highly recommend them.

Easy to book online. Matt was awesome at the store. Excellent customer service - walked us to the vehicle and showed us the best route to return the vehicle to the lot. Super friendly, professional - a real hospitality attitude. He clearly enjoys the work he does and takes pride in ensuring a great customer experience. The vehicle was close to new and super well-kept. Upon arrival to the lot when returning the vehicle we were greeted by a super friendly fella who took care of all the details and we were on our way. We will book again with this company!

Really wanted to like this place, rental rates were reasonable, close by, and they inventoried 4Runners. However, if anything goes wrong be prepared as they don't check their cars for basic tools which can leave you stranded.

Unfortunately, whilst taking my family on a road trip across BC we hit a pothole flatting the back rear tire. We thought "no biggie' we'll just change the tire. However, Pacific Car rentals failed to do a thorough check through the car and didn't include an owners manual and lock nut key. We were SOL, out of service on the side of the highway. Luckily a bystander pulled over and offered his gps phone. We called BCAA and luckily were towed back to town about 3hrs later with the sun setting. The entire next day was then wasted waiting for a tire shop to cut the lock and replace the tire, delaying our drive home by about 8-10hrs. This delay being crucial as it made us get stuck in Vernon on the way home due to forest fires. Thus delaying the return of the car by 8 hrs, or an extra day.

At this point of the trip we were looking to resolve this issue smoothly, as we didn't appreciate being stranded and delayed due to such an easy fix. We were met however with an owner named Brad who said "well we always put a manual & lock key in the car", blamed us for ruining his next reservation, never apologized and tried to charge us to replace 4 tires. Him stating that because it's a 4wheel drive vehicle that this is needed. What he fails to tell you is that he also OWNS A CANADIAN TIRE, and they'd be doing the work. How convenient eh? I got Toyota themselves involved and they quickly denied the need, as a car as new as theirs did not need 4 changed, let alone two. Pacific eventually came around and agreed to the 1 tire change. I agreed to pay the one tire replacement if they comped my towing. However what I didn't agree to was them charging my CC for the extra day (their fault for delaying us), and an extra gas charge, even though I returned the car with gas just under half, which is the same as I picked the car up with.

In closing, if all goes well I'm sure they're ok to deal with, but if it doesn't prepare for the worst. I will not be renting again from Pacific.

Staff is wonderful, car excellent, price is so reasonable, pick location is downtown. Save me coz they allowed me to park in there area. Will definitely rent here again!

Had a good experience with Pacific Car Rentals. Quick pick up. Central location. Car was clean and in good condition. We returned after hours, and their technician was there working hard cleaning the cars!

I rented a Toyota Corolla with Pacific Car Rentals for a few days to drive up the Sea to Sky Highway. Everything went extremely well. Very pleased with the level of customer service I received - so polite!

Prices were also very competitive in comparison to the big car rental chains. I highly recommend and will use again when I am in Vancouver!

BMW 750li. Enjoyed the car very much. My wife enjoyed the luxury a lot. KM before extra charge was a bit lower than I had expected, but that’s par for the course on luxury rental. Front desk counter was quick and courteous and I used the after hours drop off. The security deposit of $5000 was promptly removed after they opened in the morning and the final charges were exactly what I expected. I appreciate how quick they were with that. I would rent from This company again.

I wish they can pay attention to their calling and walk-in customer. I tried to book over the phone and went there personally but staff was very busy.

Wow we rented a Honda Civic for one week, great car, great place to rent a car.

When booking there office informed me that if I return the car at 10am not noon we save a full days rental. Remarkably honest and we where also able to leave our luggage there temporarily to go to breakfast before our flight home. Great job thanks Mark @ Shelagh

Checking in and out was quick and easy. The car was ready when we arrived and the Technician walked us through the features and options available to us.
The key drop-off was very convenient.

Friendly and efficient staff. Thorough check before leaving. The only thing is that the Toyota Highlander we rented got some serious brake malfunctions when we were driving on hwy.brake failed to stop or even slow down and we nearly hit the car in front of us, which was super dangerous. I had to exert drastically more pressure on brake to make the car stop. Luckily there was no accident but seriously it was scary. When I returned the car, I told the staff about this issue and was told they do have their cars examined once a year at the dealer. Please DO have the highlander checked ASAP. Don’t want anyone else to be put in such scary and dangerous situations again!

Service was terrible they did not give us the car in the last minute they did not call us, less than 10hrs of our trip and couldn’t cancel our trip, no refund our hotel. Rude on the phone and they hung up on us and say shut up and hang up. He did not apologise or help us to get another car.

Knowledgeable and high quality service. The agent on the phone named James guided me through the pricing and rentals. Rates were also better than others in the area.

Very easy and smooth process with Pacific Car Rentals, from start to finish. Overnight car drop off was fine. Would recommend.

Car was not what ordered, and alternative staff rushed me with and did not brief me on all features. Result not an easy drive or manoeuvreable car. Had a minor bump in carpark. Avoidable if had been given car of choice or advised of rear camera feature.

Great service from start to finish. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Booked last minute. They accepted an Irish debit card without a hiccup. The car was spotless. Very reasonably priced. No hidden charges. Highly recommend.
