Seasonal wetland and flood plain. Lots of birds with seasonal migrators moving through. Saw two sandhill cranes last week. Dog walking on the hill.

We watched the finches going into a friends old wooded birdhouse while 4 hawks were soaring overhead above Panama Flats on a lovely sunny afternoon at 20 Celsius on our second day that felt like summer.

Fruit, picnic spots and great terrain! This is an incredible place to walk your dog, jog, ride bikes etc. You access it easiest on Roy Rd. There are pullouts to park and the best trails are on the west side of the Rd which would be your left if driving on Roy towards Wilkinson.

These rails are good for bikes and even all terrain blades an boards. There is a main smooth chipped rock pathway with offshoot grass paths. If you venture into the grass, mind the ruts. When moist they aren't too bad but when the clay soil dries it dries quite firm and there are some large somewhat hidden ruts.
When it's wet, expect to lose a boot in some of the grassy trails.

FRUIT TREES! 4 or 5 types of apples trees. Plum trees. Pear trees. Lots of sweet sneaky spots to throw down a blanket and have a relatively private picnic with someone special. On the main trail there are benches every so often. There is a duck pond in the middle of the park. They are friendly and quite funny to watch.

Winter: When the fields are flooded in the winter and freeze, it's beautiful. If you want ice skating there is a great spot very close to here. After 4/5 cold days -2 or below. People ice skate on the fields further North on Hastings St. When you get close to the end of Hastings there will be fields on both sides that are flooded often. People park along the Rd and skate for free. It's also a beautiful spot if you're an amateur photographer. Flat expansive fields covered in pools of water.an old farmhouse, horses and ducks.

There is a little coffee house just up the road on Burnside W.maybe a 3min drive north called "The Nest". I like to go there and warm up with some barista magic after a brisk walk or skate.

I hope this helps you plan some fun adventures. ~K

Nice easy walk through Panama Flats. Great for bird lovers. I like to continue on through Colquitz River Trail as well.

Decent walking trails; you'll run into lots of interesting children and adorable canines using the paths. For Pokemon Go players, there's a gym sitting along the path that isn't contested too often. In the dead of winter the entire area either becomes a small lake or a skating rink depending how cold it gets.
