Papa's Shish Kabab

While the flavors at the restaurant were good/mediocre, I found the portion sizes to be rather small, especially considering the prices. It left me wishing for a more satisfying dining experience in terms of quantity for the cost.

I was surprised after ordering. It’s cost-effective and has a lot of quantity. I don't think I can eat it all by myself.

Papas is something more of a restaurant for me. Having a high standard of food quality is just one of its features. Another thing is to be dramatically friendly and quiet. The thing that really makes this place just unique of its kind is nothing but its good service.

They scam you, I payed $50 for 4 prices of kabab. It was not cooked and soaked in water.
If I could give 0 stars I would.

I came here for the first time, I had the best food in my life, I recommend it to everyone.

Nice new location, a little further north than their previous one. A slightly smaller dining room. Food quality still very good with big portions. Had various kebabs and took some to go as well. Pictured was the take out order.

Ordered on door dash today, half my order was missing and even the drink was wrong. The quality of food wasn’t good unfortunately. Very disappointed

A small restaurant that serves delicious and fresh Mediterranean food. Portion sizes are good. Clean and nice set up. Good customer service. The place is only a few steps from the Burquitlam Skytrain station. Will definitely go back.

The owner of restaurant is so detail oriented and clean. The food taste is so similar to home made food.big portion and reasonable price. I love their non-alcohol beer (ISTAK). It's so nostalgy.enjoy your self in weekend with a live music.you could cheer your self up with a good food, music and dance.what else we do need? Haaa

Oh man, I absolutely loved this place. Right off the bat the rice is so awesome here secondary the meats are so well cooked perfectly moist and seasoned. Prices are pretty good and size portions are nice and decent. Calamari was also excellent. Will definitely be coming back to try other things on the menu. Pictures of the food helps a lot because for those of us not familiar with Persian style food with Persian names it's hard to know what we're ordering so this is a plus as well.

We've come here 3 times now and it has become a new go to for us for Persian food. We have tried the vaziri, barg, koobideh, and lamb chops. The food is always fresh, juicy and delicious. We also love the zeytoon parvardeh and the Kashk bedemjoon. Pricing is reasonable as well. We always come in the evenings for dinner and find the customer service to be spot on each time.

Amazing experience here at Shish Kabab. We came here as a family of 7. I ordered the Vaziri (see picture), and it was so well presented. The beef abd chickeb was so moist and juicy. The service was outstanding and the food even better. Will defintly be coming back.

I tried different calamari, but Papa's Shish Kabab is my most favourite one. And if you buy it as a takeaway meal, the portion is huge, I could have it for three meals.

It is a very great place with fast and respectful service.
The food is honestly better than any expensive restaurant in north van. The quality of rice is really good. The kebabs are juicy and delicious.
The price is really fair.

Food took so long. Almost 45 mins on a Monday and restaurant temperature is so cold. When asked the server to put the heater. Her answer was she is freezing.

We dropped by for late lunch. We ended up having soltani “special” which comes with lamb instead of beef and was $6 extra (found out later) and the special bakhtiari.
The upgrade to lamb was a hit, as the beef was too chewy unlike other places were barg is just awesome. The chicken and koobideh were good to, though their koobideh is with beef only, it should be lamb and beef. Overall is too expensive for what it is.

Our experience with the service was fine. However I would NOT ask for any recommendations as they tend too recommended the most expensive items in the menu (and pushed back on our initial choice) and upgrades that are extra like half salad half rice and they don’t really tell you that everything is extra until your bill comes.

One thing that raised an alarm immediately was that we were told that the prices in the menu were “old” and that “the prices change all the time”.

I’ve just ordered from here. Our food tasted wrongly. Please do not order Kabab Torsh and Shishlik, cause they don’t know how to cook them! Their Zeytoon Parvarde wasn’t good as well. I am so disappointed! Maybe some other food from their menu would be better. I liked their presentation though. They served grilled tomato, pepper, and onion. Also, their rice was good.

Absolutely phenomenal! The service was amazing, and the food was even better! Our server was so welcoming and made the experience overall so much better. I had ordered a chicken souvlaki, and it was honestly the best chicken I've ever had from a greek restaraunt. The Saganaki and spanakopita was amazing as well! 10/10 would reccomend! Quiet, clean, cozy, and overall one of the best restaraunts I've ever been to.

The food was amazing, I ordered the lentil stew with lime and the choice of lamb. Good service, nice atmosphere, plenty of seating in the restaurant. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes. These are two of the lower priced dishes, great for everyone to choose. A hidden gem!

Really good. I always order from this place, and I like the fact that I can get tahdig whenever I order without being subject to availablity. Kabobs are really good, especially Papa's Shish Special. The variety of meals on the menue is good too. My only suggestion is that the diced beefs used in the stews could be leaner. Overall, recommended!

This place has nice food and is close by which is why we come here.

Today we went in and decided to order a platter. At the bottom of the page it says I can substitute the full rice for 1/2 rice and 1/2 salad for an extra $2. When we requested this change we were told that no changes allowed on platters. I referred him to the note regarding the $2 up charge for changes and he flat out refused to honour it. He just wanted us to order 2 meals separately instead of the platter for 2 (which ended up being cheaper).

I’m was pretty surprised by his attitude. We are regular customers and good tippers.

This was actually not the first negative experience. Last year I came here with my sister and brother who were visiting me from Another country. We found a Long hair in the food. When we told the manager he said that it must be from my sister or I. My sister and I both wear headscarves so our hair is completely covered.

I won’t come again. I’ll go to pasagard which is much a much better Persian restaurant Anyway.

Very dissatisfied and disappointed.

Solid food - ok service. Calamari was a little softer than I’m used to but flavour was good (I like it really crispy). Lamb was super tender and delicious but the real MVP was the chicken - cooked to perfection and basically melted in my mouth. I’d visit again.

1. Best calamari ever! So tender! 2. Take out is very generous servings and we usually get two meals out of it. 3. Very nice staff! When waiting for my order to be ready, I’ve been offered coffee and also had it brought out to my car. Definitely recommend.

Their roast lamb is addictive! The location is fine, very accessible and clean. Having had a few different dishes now I can say they were all well done and delicious, just now I can’t stop thinking about the roast lamb.

I've lived in the neighborhood for awhile and finally decided to try a chicken wrap from here and wow it was delicious. Juicy and flavourful meat, excellent sauces, and filling. I'm kicking myself for not stopping in sooner but now I'm going to try their menu in full. Try them out!

One dish was burned and the other was supposed to be a stew which we have made and enjoyed many times. It just tasted like sugar water with some chicken specs. No texture, no other flavor except sugar. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
The good reviews are obviously bought or friends. This place is gross AF.

Probably the worst persian food you can find.
Old and cheap quality food. Koobideh and barg were both made from cheap meat, not recommended at all.

The top reviews are mostly fake and obviously paid for good review or probably haven't had persian food before, not a very friendly owner and the lady with an awful manner, food quality is pretty lower than average. The tip doesn't go to the people working there.

Yummy Persian food. Have all the staples. My go to is the Visiri. Little bit of chicken little bit of beef. Perfect combination. Their stews are really good too ghormeh sabzi and the gheimeh bademjan. They also have Greek food in their menu though I’ve never actually tried it. They’re on either skip or door dash currently and offer free delivery if your close by.
I did a catering order from them for a large 30 person party. Taking one star off because the chicken was a tad dry for that large order but have never had an issue dining in or ordering takeout.

It's one of my favorite Persian restaurants in Metro Vancouver. Great food quality, good service, accessible by bus and skytrain, and reasonable pricing.

The meat was tender and tasted amazing, the dishes were really good, and service was great, highly recommend.

First time here and was amazing. Good location right by bus and skytrain. Parking is plenty right in front of the restaurant. Good quality of the meals Persian and Greek cuisines!

We went there several times. The food is delicious but the last time that we went during the weekdays, both of me and my girlfriend got foodborne which we guess was because of stale food. If you want to test, I recommend to go at the weekends.

Tonight my family and I went to Papa's Shish Kabab to dine out. We ordered a variety of meals. The quality of the foods surprised us! The polite and friendly manners of the staff with high standards illustrate the well management of this cozy restaurant. If you want some high quality meals for yourself and your friends and family, I recommend trying this restaurant.

Very delicious food. I do miss the live performances and large atmosphere but I understand the reason for downsizing. Delicious none the less

I'm Persian and I know this is low quality and worse service (not respectful), I suggest to everybody to go North and West Persian restaurants, almost same price, don't waste your time and money here

The food here is amazing and I am very happy that the business is up and running again after the relocation. One of those little hidden gems.

We paid for the foods that we didn’t eat because the restaurant was really cold. We wanted to take out our rest of foods, but they didn’t allow. The lady who worked as a waitress told us very impolitely that you only could eat your foods in the restaurant if no, we will throw them out. I apologized my guests who were invited to come there. We only wasted our time, money, and food there. Don’t try it.

This is the worst restaurant I have ever seen in my life. I was in my first tour in Vancouver BC and decided to try an Afghan restaurant taste. I checked in to Papa’s Shish Kabab and was warmly greeted by the front desk staff. Then I was directed to have a set at a table. After setting, I ordered Vaziri (rice, chicken, and grounded beef Kabab). After a while, the servant brought my meal. I started eating and found a screw under the Salad as you see it in the picture. It was really an unfortunate and awful experience that made me so much disappointed. However, I showed the scene to one of the front desk staff. He poorly responded me and asked me to pay for the service. Because I was new and didn’t know what to do and who should I tell this issue, I paid for their service and left the restaurant. Later on, all my friends were asking me why I did not complain. I told them that I didn’t know who should I complain.

Inexpensive, very delicious foods, staffs mostly are busy,
Live music keeps the place live and happy.
If you want to have these foods in any Persian restaurants in downtown Vancouver, you have to pay double for half portion.

It was an awful experience in December 2017. Very low quality of customer service. The lady who was a waitress was too rude and very impolite. She didn’t know her job too. The lady’s washroom was broken, and was very dirty. The restaurant was too cold. We asked them to turn on the heat, but they answered it didn’t work. The quality of food was terrible. I am so sorry for the manager and the owner of the restaurant. I never ever recommend it to anyone.

My experience was so bad I don't know where to start. First I would like to talk about the service. The service was extremely poor as when ever I needed something it would take 15 minutes such as water. Our waiter was unwelcoming and extremely rude. The second and most important part for me is the food. I was disappointed at the lack of options during their dance night. I ordered the sultani and I regret my choice. The most basic thing is the rice and it was plain and had no taste. Rice is extremely easy to cook and saffron adds great flavor but theirs was still plain. The meat was the most un bearable part. The koobideh was dry and hard to chew. It also tasted like it was mostly fat and not enough meat. And then we have the barg. It is possibly the best kabab and they still messed it up. It tasted rotten and poorly marinated. The only part I enjoyed was the singer and that is all. I don't usually write reviews but this was one of the cases I had to do it.

We like this restaurant, but make sure you recieve what you order. The last time we visited, we received good food, but not exactly what we ordered. We are always impressed with the taste and portion size.

We reserved family table for New Years party.
They charge me for 3 years kid, $20.
I asked them, do you have any plan for kids when we pay $20 for them.
Unfortunately just a plate of fries.
Bad service, bad quality food and not friendly staff.
It’s terrible $40 for two plate fries.
