I have went to drop off recycling during their posted hours (also posted on gate) and the gate was closed and locked up. This has happened several times. They also no longer take paint and other items like this. When I say hello or thank the staff they just ignore me, quite rude. Also sign on tables with a cleaning bottle requesting you to clean the counters, I believe that is their job as paid employees. And then they have the audacity to have a tip option at the refund cash machine.

We took our gable topped milk cartons to this bottle Depot. These were clean and the bottle depot would not accept these. Their website says the do refund these items. It is very inconvenient and frustrating for an 84 year old to continually be turned away. Can anyone straighten this out?

Not very friendly and you have to do all the sorting yourself.
No recycling of other glass, plastics, batteries, or electronics
Before moving to Parksville we had full service recycle centers. Disappointed

I've been going here regularly ever since they opened and have never had a problem. The current staff may just be the best ever.

Bottle depot what can you really say about it? Hot line ups and lots of ppl, only 2 ppl in returning at a time and 3 feet back from the door. Not much more

I haven't been in the depot for about 8 months. Last time it was so clean and the staff very friendly. Everything was washed down and staff were cleaning. This time I was so surprised at how dirty the place was. I didn't want to touch anything. Don't know if the place has changed hands but it definitely has gone down hill. Will now be going to Qualicum.

Be nice when they allow people back into the building to organize their bottles instead of the parking lot in the pouring rain.
Ok so.many months later.still no change for the better, just added congestion at the entrance.if your plan was to avoid 'contamination' of any sort.you're going about wrong.there was less congestion when people were allowed inside!

The staff in the bottle depot portion are mirroring the customer service shown by the fowl mouthed so called manager woman quite well. Do NOT expect a pleasant experience.

The rude person is gone, which is good. We are now allowed to return everything, which is also good. Being closed on a Monday throws a lot of people for a loop, as lots of people have free time to get this done on Mondays. No one wants to drive to Courtney or Nanaimo just to return.

I'd change to 5 stars if they were open 7 days a week.

The only friendly person I've ever encountered here is the deaf lady. She is so nice and does a good job. The others need to take a lesson from her.

Don't know if true or not.but heard new owners got rid of all previous staff and hired new.is this true

First time in the Parksville location. We took in a full bag of empties. It went very smoothly. Hats off to everyone working there. Trying times

These folks are doing a bang up job in these times! Truly a good experience and no worries! Thanks to them all!

If you have to return empties here instead try slamming your genitalia in the car door, it will be a less painful experience.

My Bosses Louise and Niel are Super hard working my boss Louise works day and night to make sure her staff are comfortable and feel appreciated and safe at the worksite. This worksite everybody makes sure everything is tidy and I work really hard to sanitize carts and trays for all customers I love my Job and im very appreciative that i have this job and my staff are all awesome they are so happy every time im there im working and around them and i make sure i make sure the customers feel their getting helped or need questions answered to the best of my ability.

We are making sure that everyone is happy and are trying to keep everyone safe!

Louise and Niel work hard every single day there isnt a time where they dont and this is such incredible hard working crew we work tirelessly and hard I think having this new safe procedures in place is great during such a difficult time This is the new normal we aren't going back to the old normal BC will never be the same so everyone just needs to go by the guidelines

The staff and owner have always been so helpful. They work hard and treat me very well- I appreciate Louise and her staff.they are efficienct and I appreciate them.

Very poor system. Only 1 cart with 9 trays allowed per trip. Or you can get bags for 50 cents each and fill them. But we didn't have any cash on us. They would not take the cost of the bags out of our total, we had to pay first. The lady said we could fill the cart and take the cash for it to pay for the bags, but since we're only allowed one trip that doesn't matter anyway. Horrible service, will not be returning.

This is a very clean recycle facility that is pretty busy so beat the rush and go early. You do need to sort things out prior to drop off as they don't have the room needed to sort once you arrive. They take a variety of items and it's my go to place to recycle but there are rules to follow so you may want to familiarize yourself ahead of time. The guys at the back have always been polite and I haven't experienced any problems only a willingness to help and I am at the recycle on a weekly basis.
The bottle recycle is laid out well, flows quickly and has sinks to wash your hands if needed. My experience at this facility has been positive.

I have many years of customer service experience and I have always sorted my recycling items I take to the yard BUT the owners of this depot need to have some protocols in place for the yard staff. I went to the yard in summer of 2019 and at entrance saw this crude sign which consisted of spray painting on a piece of dirty plywood which read and I quote “ If your recycling is not sorted Go home and sort it”. That is a rude way to explain to customers and especially seniors, what the policy is. I agree the staff should not have to take abuse and harassment from customers BUT that rule should apply to staff that are rude to customers also. There is a polite way to explain policy to customers and I find this lacking from SOME of the yard staff.

Bottle section was ok; but after such rude treatment in the yard I now throw all my plastic bags out. Not going through the power crazy people again. They use to be so nice; what a shame.

Hadn't been to this depot for ages and was a bit leery after reading other customer reviews. However, I found the staff to be very polite and also quite helpful when sorting the variety of bottles, cans, etc.

Mother treated very poorly by young man in the yard today. She was trying to bring her recycling and it was not sorted to their liking and he gave her a pamphlet to take the bags home.and a shrug of the shoulders and told her " oh well" when she asked further questions.will not go up on a Saturday again due to this worker and attitude (really discourages people to want to recycle). Much better experience with inside bottle area, never a problem.

I worked for this company for a very short time.the treatment of the Employees/Customers by the Manager Tracy.is absoultly is APPALLING. This Company owes to me for 21.25hrs of work that Has Not Been Paid.i will be going to the highest imaginable court to recieve my pay.every last NICKEL & DIME.and will be calling head office about this treatment i recieved as an employee.my rating for this establishment is a Hard -10 stars.
MANAGER Tracy. U NEED SERIOUS PHYCOLOGICAL HELP

Worst place. Everyone is absolutely miserable and ignorant. One guy was swearing smashing stuff into a bin right in front of my little kids saying the f word since he had to pick something up off the ground someone dropped. Have not been there once in years where there hasn't been someone in a foul dam mood.

This is the third time I’ve been to this facility. Something has to be done about the managers rude attitude toward customers. She is aggressive and confrontational. The staff however have all been friendly and helpful. I feel bad for them having to put up with her poor customer service skills or lack there of.

I have never been so disrespected at a buisness in my entire life. The owner was rude and refused to awnser any questions I had, she pointed out a few problems then refused to tell me if they excepted the containers or not, just continuously repeated that they were not a sorting facility anymore and to follow the brochures. When even on the brochure they gave me it it states to follow the facilities sorting procedures. She just said I would have to go home to sort it and come back. Then I went inside to drop off a few containers that they had a sign saying they took and as soon as I said that they wouldn't take them in the back, the employee didnt even let me finish talking she cut me off and said then you'll have to leave almost left with out my bottle money.
