Passion8 Dessert Cafe

The quality of their bingsu has suffered majorly over the last few years, it’s flat and disappointing when it used to be fluffy and delicious. The owner responds to feedback in a defensive way with no interest in improving their product or customer service. My partner I were regulars who will not be returning to their subpar establishment. If you want bingsu that’s actually made with care go to My frosty or Winter Bear. Such wasted potential.

My friends and I frequently visit this place, which is one of my favourite cafes in Vancouver.

Also all of the staff are friendly, and the store is always clean. Especially, their fruit (mango and strawberry as shown in the pictures) bingsu is fresh and delicious. It's made with milk, making it smooth and rich in flavor. The bingsu is generously topped with various ingredients, and every time I order and eat it, it brings me happiness.

Been coming here regularly every 1-2 months, but the bingsu on last weekend's visit was far below the usual quality. The ice was clumpy and not fluffy so the bingsu was flat and squashed, there were less strawberries than usual (and really sloppily placed), and the inside was not layered with strawberry and shaved ice like it usually is. There was also a door or something repeatedly slamming in the back, like the employees weren't holding or closing it properly. This has our favourite bingsu place for close to a year but after such a drop in quality I'm not sure about returning.

Edit: I posted this on Monday the 20th, the weekend before that is the 18th and 19th. So yes I went when it was open.

The appearance of the mango shaved ice was very attractive. It was my first time to try it and I really liked the texture of the ice shaved. The mangoes were very fresh and had a good taste, but overall it was not too sweet, and if they could add some sweetness to it, it would be great. We went there at night and could hardly find a table.

Ok taste but not worth the crowd and insanely rude customer service with a lot of random rules. The one day I went with a friend they made us etransfer payment.

I ate the tiramisu bingsoo with my friend. It tasted good and the atmosphere was very cozy. The staff was also very friendly.

Their snow mountains are really amazing, especially honey berry! The ice was milk so it was super flavorful.tostery was also very crispy and sweet! Highly recommened!

This place definitely do not have good service at all anymore. The server told us to order first before we sit and we decided within a minute what to order but the lady was busy using the iPad and had her back faced toward us. We waited politely for about 5 minute and then someone else came to take our order. I believe she is quite new because she had to constantly ask the first server what to do. We were the only ones ordering at that time and got the last 2 slice of cake; as we sat down 3 different groups came and were also told to order first before sitting. The new server then went to the back and the first lady started to take other people's order. We waited about 20 minutes and then went up to say if we can have the cake as they were right there but the server said she has to take other people order first before she can get our cake even though it's sitting right there which made no sense because other groups will keep coming and the new server was nowhere to be seen. We asked for our money back and left. Will not be coming back again for a while.

The options for drinks and desserts are great! The ChocoBear is amazing for sharing between 3-4 people. The only thing I didn't quite like is that spending a minimum of $20 is required to sit at a table.

Used to come here regularly but this past visit was a disappointment. Not only they raised their prices, which is expected due to the economy, but their portion sizes shrank. The nice owners were replaced by abruptly manner staff.

Awful customer service. The lady in cashier was so rude. I believe she doesn’t know how to respect people. I will never come back again. She should know how bad her attitude is.

The food is good, but unfortunately my friends and I had a terrible experience. We ordered a large mango bongo. After about 15 minutes of waiting we go up to get our tray when the worker calls our name and there was 1 large and 1 small mango bongo. We didn’t realize there was a mistake since it was our tray. We start to eat our food and about 25 minutes later a worker comes up to us. She very rudely says you ordered 1 why are you eating it (the other one) we are extremely confused and ask for her to explain. She says I took your order and you only ordered 1 and the girl got tables mixed up, as well as continuing to aggressively ask why we ate it. We said we assumed it was our order and that’s why we ate it. We offered to pay for it which she just replied ok and then left us. We did pay for it at the counter. This attitude was extremely unnecessary since it was a staff mistake and it was a disrespectful way to treat customers who weren’t being rude, and were just confused.

I'd never had milk shaved ice so this is as much a thumbs-up for the dessert as it is for that particular instance of the dessert. My 17 year old nephew thought it was the best dessert he'd ever had, and while I wasn't willing to go there, my God it was delicious. I was furious with myself since I live 2 blocks away and have only ever gone for take-out cake, not realising their speciality item is amazing. (I held off on bubble tea for years, assuming I'd hate it, and I tried it last fall: hated it. Not so this: I can't wait to return and try it again).

Yummy bingsoo! They layered some pieces of strawberry in the shaved ice which was a nice surprise.

We came on a Sunday afternoon at around 2: 30pm. There was only one other table other than us inside. They are usually more popular at night. We got their mango shaved ice. Service was really nice and they were pretty quick in making it. I loved the separators between each table making it more private. Overall the mango ice wasn't too sweet and the mangoes tasted fresh. I like that they layered some mango syrup in between the layers to keep it from getting boring. Great place to hang out

Also does not serve water, which does not comply with the by-laws of Vancouver.

Desserts are ok, but definitely overpriced.

The desserts are always excellent! Great place to come with friends after dinner to hang out. I feel safe from the partitions between tables and the front counter lady took the job of checking vaccine cards very seriously. There aren't many tables, however, so on a weekend evening there might be wait time.

Firstly, good portion of ice cream but only if sharing.
Not the best quality of ice cream, it was mostly icy. Expensive for one person, and they don't have much options if you tend to eat alone, you'll end up over eating

Machine was down and supplies were out when we came here tonight, so can’t have the shaved ice. Instead we had toast, it was better than I expected. The drinks were good but not as presentable as shown on the menu. Service was friendly and fast. Whole dining experience was great.

We really enjoyed their Honey Cream Cheese Toastery. The staff on hand were very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable.

I cant even explain how horrible me and my family felt by going here.we were met by a waitress and the first thing that went wrong was when she asked for vaccine cards.it is normal to ask for the vaccine card but not from a kid who is visibly under the age of 11. So, we ended up getting takeout, and while ordering we asked if we could buy “face macarons” which was the name on the label of the macarons, and then the waitress had the audacity to responded as if she didn’t even know her own products. After, we went outside so we could wait for our takeout, but then another family came in with kids YOUNGER than the kid who came with me and was denied, and they were let in right away to dine in. THIS WAS THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT I EXPERIENCED. So, I went up to her and confronted her about this and she immediately apologized, even though she knew what she was doing by rejecting us for having no vaccine card for a kid that is younger than 11.the food was okay though.

This is one of the coziest dessert spots I’ve been to in the city. The staff is super friendly. Their injeolmi bingsoo is a must try! The ice is so fine and the toppings are generous. On top of that, they make the bingsoo look so adorable. I find that the other drinks are fine too, but nothing special/unique about them.

Great shaved ice, wished that there was more variation. However I can not recommend their actual baked goods weren't exception. Stick to their shaved ice as well as their waffles.

What a wonderful korean cafe on cambie street. Normally have to go to lougheed for this quality. The owner is so kind and makes the perfect desserts for dine in or take out. This rice cake injulmi toast was amazing, as well as the strawberry bingsoo

Amazing desserts. The owner is very sweet and kind to customers. This Korean cafe is a perfect addiction to Cambie sweet. Nothing like this around the area

We had a piece of Tiramisu cake and hot drinks, hot chocolate and caramel macchiato latte, very tasty!

Two minutes finished one large strawberry yogurt………because full of ice. Am I Oder $5.8 ice for drink? Don’t not talk with them. I know they will say that it is.so never mind.

We got the Real Tiramisu and Mango Bongo Snow Mountain. Both were so good! Just wish they had complimentary water but they stopped providing it.due to covid I guess.

Their croffle was very tasty! I have tried their strawberry and mango bingsu in the past and both are solid picks. Small size was big enough to be shared between two people.

They told us their machine was broken and that it would take 30 mins to restart but that it was also a 30 min wait for a table even though there were open tables.

We were alright with waiting but they made us stand outside in the 33 degree heat. We asked to wait inside at one of the open tables and they said it was alright. Not even 4 mins go by, the same girl approaches us and says there were people ahead of us waiting to order.

They are terrible at communicating, one girl said they were short staffed which didn’t have anything to do with the situation. I was really looking forward to it and now they lost us as customers because they don’t know how to run a business.

They have a policy where every person in your party needs to spend at least $5. Frankly that policy is a bit ridiculous even during Covid times. Just be wary if you're going with a group of friends or bringing a partner that might not necessarily want to buy something.

One of the waitress has very bad attitude. Good food but Bad customer service. Should train staffs on better service with no attitude.

Disappointed with this place. I had been here before and tried the Honey berry one and it was really nice. Today we ordered mango bongo to go, it was suppose to come with mangoes, cheese cake and ice cream. But we only got shaved ice and mangoes. There were no cheesecake or ice cream. Paid $16 for ice and mango. Total waste of money.

Very loud and surprisingly no music. The atmosphere looks pleasant but they could have made it sooo much better by installing one speaker.

They have amazing pastries. We ordered from Uber ears last weekend. They were moist and mouth melting.

Good flavors of bingsoo. Had blueberry and mango, and mango was the general favourite. Portions seem a little smaller than other bingsoo places comparing to the price. Would probably have bingsoo elsewhere for a better value.

Nice little dessert place. Every item is small size. Tried plain cheese cake w americano. Each is not special in itself but the combination. Exquisite!

Also tried the Matchacha - snow mountain, quite good

I drove 13.4km from Port Coquitlam because I was led to believe that they close at 12 am and I made it there 11: 45 Pm and they didnt even compensate: (sad way to end a Friday night. Too bad, looked good

Shaved snow is always good. Mango is in season, so, go and order while it lasts! Their pastry is really yummy. Something new to try. Pairs well with any of their frozen delights

Toastery is a must try when visiting Passion 8 Dessert Cafe.
Soft on the inside, crispy on the inside. Top this crunchy goodness with whipped cream and nuts. Served on a smoking hot pan, this dessert will satisfy all your sugary cravings.

Our personal favorite is honey cream cheese one.

Very aesthetically pleasing café. I would come here everyday if it werent for the fact that its far from where i live.i wish there would be a franchise store in ubc.there are many photozones and i would recommend the maldive latte.its a mint flavoured coffee (i think) but the mint isnt that noticeable.do not mix! The strawberry bingsoo and injeolmi bingsoo are also pretty nice.

Great shaved ice, very refreshing and their sizes are large! We got the tiramisu and it was great. However I would say 15 dollars is still pretty pricey for shaved ice along Cambie street.

Yummy and delicious. Cold and mangoey. Bring the whole family or eat a whole bowl forever alone. Good times.

Wow I've never had this kind of shaved cream dessert before, but it was absolutely delicious and unlike anything else I've had before. Definitely worth a try! Four of us shared a large size of the matcha snow mountain and it was perfect.

Delicious matcha bingsu (shaved ice), however kinda pricey.and I think I’ve had better elsewhere. Have to try their cheesecake or mango one next time as I heard it’s good!

Had the matchacha, the place is quiet and quaint. Overall very peaceful and nice atmosphere. The large bucket is pretty big and can be shared with 2 or 3 people.

It is delicious. I am surprised this place is not more well known. Kind staff, great vibe. They even gave us a complimentary strawberry milkshake. Their tiramisu ice is a great balance between Coco flavor and sweetness. Definitely would recommend.

Small but cozy:) Makes for a great meet up location, parking is a little tight but the food is great!

After an extremely filling meal, we decided that we wanted bingsoo and this place was walking distance. I've always heard good things about this place. Since I haven't had bingsoo in a while, I thought why not?

My friend and I ordered the mungbean bingsoo. For me, it was a little too sweet. I prefer less sweet desserts. The ice was thinly shaved and almost tasted like ice cream. We also ordered a special drink - I believe it was something sunset latte. It was way too sweet for me. To the point where I couldn't take it. If I knew how sweet it'd be, I would have definitely ask for 1/4 sweet. If you're a big fan of sweets, this could satisfy your sweet tooth.

Overall, the shaved ice was worth it! As for the drink, it was just mediocre for me.

One of the greatest bingsoo (shaved ice) place in Vancouver!
They could even hold some group of people (like we went as 9 people) so it is great for gathering too.
Have good parking spaces (and also tons of street parking) and only 10-15 min walk from Broadway-City Hall station.
We had mango, blueberry, strawberry and tiramisu ones and they all tasted great.
Place is super clean and staffs are really nice.

Delicious bingsu with surprises mixed in! (Mochi, cheesecake, red beans and rice crackers in ours when we dug down!) Huge portions! Very friendly staff.

Binsoos, cakes and drinks!

The shaved ice binsoos here are very good without being overly sweet and sugary. My personal favourite is the Tiramisu (pictured). It even has some little chunks of cheesecake buried below the surface and it's topped with a shot of espresso.

The shop is small and always crowded at night full of young people. The only problem with this place is that it skirts the line of a cafe shop where you want to have a dessert but also is very high traffic to the point that it's always a wait for a table.

Not really ice cream. More Like shaved milk ice with some.icecream and fruit. All dishes are the same with just diffrent toppings. Menu is small cafe is small and I wasnt left satisfied

Amazing customer service, the cashier was also really nice. The atmosphere is subtle and modern. I would recommend the "Mango "Bongo. "

Tiramisu and Mango are my favorite shaved ice flavor from here. This place is very busy and I often have to wait on weekend nights but the wait was not too bad and it’s worth it! I like how they even have a small parking lot in front!
