Do not shop here. The managers treat staff very poorly, even refusing to give staff legally required breaks. Our city doesn't need businesses like this.

This has been my neighborhood grocery store for years, Peter (the owner) is kind, professional, and always up for a chat. It's a very clean store, unfortunately it is getting expensive due to inflation but that's a give in. I have supported them for a long time and will continue to do so. It can get busy depending on the day of the week and the time, but that just shows how good of an establishment it is.

Peter's YIG in Kelowna provides a decent grocery shopping experience. The prices, while not spectacular, are generally more reasonable than other local options, especially given the current high costs of groceries. The store offers a good range of products and usually has a well-stocked inventory.

However, the association with Loblaws does dampen the overall appeal of the store, raising questions about corporate ethics and sourcing practices.

Overall, Peter's YIG is serviceable for your grocery needs, but not without its drawbacks. Three stars.

This is a soulless Loblaws grocery store owned by billionaires that I have been easily boycotting for almost one year (a good start).

Too many "heads" allowed to steal from this place and "pan handle" in front of this place. Do not support companies that lack accountability to our community. "Pan Handleing" is illegal, so is stealing. Put policies & people in place to prevent this type of behavior at your store. Boy cott all companies with a lack of accountability, who then put the burden on the city. Clean up your store. Inside and out.

It is great I can find some Brazilian food. But vegetable and fruits are more expensive than other stores.

I bought chicken at independent grocery twice and both times it was bad. The first time I just threw it in the garage and the second time I returned it. Do not buy meat there!

Somewhat big store and well stocked but lots of the produce was on the shelf after it had gone bad

Best grocery store in town. Owner is an unsung hero. Always available and helping. Best pick up service as well. My first choice.

The price is very very high it seems what ever they charge what ever the feel like the quality it is not there they have rotten oranges in the bag and they charge arm and leg

I gave this 5 stars because it's next to Yum Yum Tree.

Wonderful grocery store. Peter is a very community-driven business owner with lots of locally made and grown products. All his staff are so nice too - thank you! I only shop here.

I have always really felt comfortable shopping at independent, the staff are friendly and able to help.

Lately though, the increase in prices of meat and poultry are really making it impossible for me to continue shopping there.

With the price of gas i cant even justify stopping there for the affordable items that they still do sell.

Its really unfortunate that i probably wont be grocery shopping there regularly any more.

Have a million positive things to say about Independent Grocer in Kelowna. I was waiting in line to check out and had the absolute pleasure of chatting with a man named Matt.
Not very often does somebody stop you in your tracks to ask you how your day has been, i was so pleasantly surprised! He made my day, one of the kindest people i have ever met!
Next time i am in i will be keeping my eye open for him! Thankyou Matt, you are very lovely at your job and i can tell you are such a light in this world!

This store has lots of small town charm! I shop this store well I live in North Glenmore it is worth the bus trip to your store Peter! Top notch customer service! As a paraplegic I am unable to reach the top shelf and I ask for help and they always ask would you like to have assistance shopping I say no thank you, but thank you, for your offer!

Great local store, with I wonderful international section as well as lots of local products. I especially like that they carry Dutchman local milk and also have a really great selection of imported foods from Italy, South Africa and Jamaica.

Great, fast service in the meat department. Had a big order of beef done in no time. That's the way to do it.

Yes it's overpriced sometimes and certain things get sold really fast but you just have to stick to sales and deal prices.

I just ran in to grab 1 thing and I was Very impressed with the cleanliness and over all look of this store.seemed like a great selection of produce. I will definitely come back to shop

The customer service.should be more helpful. I had a 25 dollar gift card.but the pin was erased bye a young man at walmart.and so I left and came in yesterday just to be told.that.they declined me.so went to the ess service.today and told them my story.but they took the card away and didn't renew one for me.pretty sad how this would happen. I'm sad

Such a great local grocery store. The staff is friendly and they carry lots of quality products from local small businesses. It's my favourite grocer in Kelowna ️

Decent grocery store with relatively affordable prices. I'd highly recommend that you also consider the save-on foods because when things are discounted, it is more affordable there.

I am writing this while waiting 50mins to get only three prescribed meds from the pharmacy. Such a waste of time.

This store had products other stores don’t have. Great international section. Fresh produce. Organized store. Great location.

Small but great! My only question is why does such a small store need such a big booze section? Bigger affordable meat and produce choices would make more sense.

At independent grocery you will Always get kind and friendly service. Plus they carry some grocery items other big grocery stores don't. I love this store.

Great store. Canadian owned. Good staff.good prices.good selection of stock & supply. Its well laid out. Its clean.its bright Staff is capable & helpful. Its well air conditioned & you can browse as long as you like. Best of all it stays open till 10 p.m. Its just great. Im proud to be a regular customer as well as a fan.

Helpful and knowledgeable staff. You can tell they treat their staff great and are an inclusive employer.

Food isn't fresh. Always expires the day after you buy it. Had this happen time and time again.

I love it here, shopped here as a kid customer service is good, and appears to have fair chance employment, I'm a huge fan

They mixed up my order n my daughters order, they put the chicken on hers, we fixed it ourselves because we got our food to go. Other than that it was delicious

I went in for pork chops that were on sale. They ran out so I got a rain check. Went in a few days later & they said they put the order in & they'd be in in 2-3 days. Went in & they promptly cut them fresh for me. Conner brought them out to me. He carried them for me to the front & ran & got me a cart. Best customer service a lady has ever gotten. Kudos to you Conner. Your a very valuable employee. Thanks, again Conner.

They have organic fruits and vegetables, small portion ready to cook meals, and nice cheese and deli selection.

If you live downtown, this is the place to get groceries. Don't waste your time and money at Safeway, you'll just disappoint yourself

Just came here to buy lottery tickets, as my Mum at the lab. The Capri centre used to be brilliant.its terrible now! It no longer has cute little stores or coffee shops, just a maze of dingy hallways

Middle of the road grocery store. Not a lot of choices when looking for specific bran ds of items. Produce selection was fresh. I found the meat department was impressive. Prices are pretty good and checkout lines move quickly.

I enjoy the deals I find. Often stuff for 40 percent off and its perfectly good food. Milk is the cheapest there and I. Usually happy with the friendly cashiers

Should be open at least until 23: 00.

The Superstore welcomes Independent's old customers with way better prices. Cashiers are kind and helpful.

It was in walking distance to where I was and the prices and products were good no problem with produce or drinks or meats

This is my backup store when SuperStore isn't an option (don't feel like driving that far). They are essentially a smaller superstore but with great local products.

Good selection; competitive prices; plentiful 30-50%-off stickers on marked-down items are easy to notice; friendly, helpful staff; always clean and tidy.

Cant say enugh good things about Peter's Independent, the manager and stalf were super helpful, love to shop there and yes best prices for wine ;)

Definitely need more variety of healthy alternative products. Otherwise huge assortment of household and grocery products.

Clean staff is helpful when asked. Only issue is with the credit card people harrassing me while shopping with my small child

Terrible staff likely due to lack of training. If you want to use your earned points ask if there is a cashier who's been there a while. Newbies won't inquire how to do something they will tell you "you can do that next time". Limited selection and produce prices are out to lunch. Take the few extra min and go to Superstore or anywhere else.
