Pete and his team are awesome. They will get you the freshest cut you want and the highest quality you can find. + if you have any restriction/preference, they will go above and beyond to find the best for you.

High quality meat with great service and completely reasonable prices. If you don’t see the cut you’re after, they’ll prepare it in the back for you. If they don’t have it in the back, they’ll let you know how they can order it in or figure out a replacement with you. I buy almost 100% of my meat here.

Can improve the lamb department; stewing lamb was too fatty, merquez was made supremely hot.

Terrible customer service! Shutting the deli down more than an hour before they close. Long time customer, we will not be returning

Quality of the food is good, but customer service is very hit or miss. Ordered an 18 pound turkey, they didn’t have it. Didn’t bother to call me to let me know. They tried to sell me a 14 pound, saying that they saved the 16 pounds for other people… (I guess I don’t matter as much as they do). When I told Pete that I didn’t want it he didn’t care and didn’t apologize. It makes me sad because I like the quality of the product but I wish the service was as better.

Great selection of quality meats and super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I find no matter how busy they may be they always treat customers with patience and genuine care. Great prices for the quality you get. Definitely one of the best local neighborhood butcher's in Vancouver.

First time customer experience was good until I arrived at the shop. I ordered a Tomahawk steak over the phone a couple of days earlier. The fellow I placed the order with couldn't have been nicer. When I came into the shop today to pick it up, the fellow that served me had three steaks wrapped for me. When I told him I had only ordered one, he was a bit non-plused and selected one for me to purchase. Frankly, I wasn't bothered by the attitude. Stuff happens. But what really rubbed me the wrong way was being squarely pushed to leave at tip at check out. I'm sure the steak will be great, but that business at check out has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Highest quality at the best prices! These guys are great, very knowledgable and friendly. I just bought a huge cowboy steak cured in Koji, an experiment one of the guys was trying out for fun on some beef they brought in to test from a ranch in Kamloops. They also have cool additional products like potatoes and onions just in case you need some essentials, some amazing frozen handmade wontons from Dumpling King, Bintang charcoal, Nonny non-alc beers, and always rotating through cool products. 6 stars out of 5

Everyone that worked there seemed nice but the guy that served me. I don't do butchers much (or at all) and like most people I do Safeway or such but one of my favourite cuts, pork shoulder steak, is all but gone from most grocery stores so I checked this place out. Firstly when I asked for a shoulder steak the guy looked pretty annoyed as it was a something he had to cut and it wasn't just good to go. His annoyance seemed to increase the less I knew about what I wanted (it was the first time I was buying it not pre packaged). Finally he was unable to hide his disdain upon finding out I was frying it (sorry kids, I live in a small box in Vancouver and am currently without a BBQ). Guys, you run a specialty butcher shop. Not everyone knows as much about the product as you do. Maybe if you take the time with a noob ya might get a repeat customer? Just saying.

This butcher shop has a cool vibe, and they have so many selections of meat. I'm surprised that they have fresh lamb lol. The worker (maybe the owner) is very kind and generous. I bought some ground lamb, also asked for some lamb fat for my kebab, then the other worker patiently trimmed 2 big good pieces for me for free. Will definitely come back!

The marbling on the steaks can't be beat. When I eat a Pete's steak, I feel like a king. Rework your food budget and shop here, it's worth every dollar

I had such a bad experience today at this butcher. I used to like shopping at this place however the quality in their customer service I had experienced was awful. First of all none of those guys were wearing masks! After reading older reviews they weren’t wearing masks during BC mask mandate either.
Anyways, I had approached the counter and wanted a lean piece of pork meat grinded because what they had already grinded was looking like a big pile of fat with hardly any meat! First guy came to say he needs to ask the store manager if they can grind or not. Weird.
Store manager Judan approached me and reluctantly said that even if he’s going to grind new for me is going to be the same as the one in the window and he went away. All I wanted was a lean cut for them to grind. That is the definition of being a “butcher store”: giving the customer a cut they want and how they wanted…
Ground beef wasn’t available either and they said it’s not grinded in thei store either. Then I asked for some bone knuckles of either pork or beef and was told to check front freezer. One guy came outside to point me to some marrow bones, definitely not knuckles. I had my medium size poodle with me and he literally made one bark sound, he does that when he meets new people…which annoyed Judan butcher person who asked me to tie him outside because he doesn’t like barking dogs… my dog was not misbehaving as per the store owner response below!
Sir, you haven’t addressed any of my concerns why I wasn’t helped by any of your guys there. And there were quite a bunch. Instead, you attacked me in your response of me going into your store with my dog. I don’t remember seeing a sign on the store door NO pets allowed. If I miss that my apologies. Regardless, your staff could seriously improve on their customer service manners and friendliness and be more helpful with a curb side offer at least, if your butcher guy hates dogs.
It happened I was walking together with my dog that day on my very rare day off, after working long overtime hours in health care hospital settings. People like me working with Covid-19 sick patients do know that masks are important to minimize exposure.
All I wanted from your butcher was to grind for me a lean cut of meat, and apparently that was an impossible task for them.
Perhaps your store name should be changed to a deli store. Definitely NOT a butcher store.

There are much nice butchers with much nicer products and who care about their customers and treat them respectfully in this city! Support those ones that care for you. Very disappointed

We've just arrived in Kerrisdale / arbutus neighbourhood and we decided to go to this butchery. We're french and we didn't know the exact names of pieces we wanted (hampe, onglet, bavette d'Aloyau) but the staff were very helpful and patient with us. It's definitely gonna be our go to butchery from now on!

My favourite butcher in Vancouver. They even do sandwiches. Great meat quality and the best eggs ever. Loads of other unique items you might enjoy! Sausages are very good as well. For the summer they also make burgers that are very good.

The best butcher shop! I've been to a few butchers locally, but now come exclusively to Pete's. Reasons why they're good: 1) Staff - Can't be beat on service and knowledge. They always go above and beyond giving recommendations and information on cuts of meat and best ways to cook & prep. 2) Quality- They have a huge variety of cuts and meats, and it's always so fresh and incredible quality. Got a few rib eye steaks last week for the BBQ and my family couldn't stop raving about it 3) Specialty goods- They also carry a really nice and special variety of sauces, spices, and store made pates. The chicken liver pate is SO good, I have gotten so many other people hooked on it. Pete's: If you guys are reading this, please don't ever stop making it! Oh and 4) Price - very well priced for the quality you get.

Came in for one item and walked out with three and the desire to come back for more. Came away with house-made guanciale, English breakfast sausage, and duck rillette

Amazing quality meat and incredibly friendly staff. I go out of my way to get meat from this place because they provide such a great experience and everything I’ve ever bought there has been delicious.

Wonderful and knowledgeable staff members - great selection of meats that you can expect from your local butcher shop (try the gochujang/onion sausages!) plus other goodies (try the horseradish mustard from the Toronto deli Caplansky’s!)

A wasted trip. The butcher is open but the sandwich deli is closed “due to covid”, with NO notification online or anywhere prior to asking at the counter in store.

Quality over quantity is my philosophy on meat. The best beef tenderloins I’ve ever had. $15/half pound steak but so worth it considering that would be a $55 steak at a nice steakhouse. Don’t hesitate this place delivers amazing quality meats.
The Nashville hot chicken sausages were unreal as well.

Fair prices, good quality cuts and friendly helpful staff. What else could you ask for out a butcher shop.

Knowledgeable and helpful staff selling good quality meat products. Their prices are more than what you'll see in your local supermarket but you're paying for quality - you won't be disappointed.

I don't know who the buyer is (Pete?), but these guys have some of the best meat in town. It doesn't have that "livery" taste you often get at supermarkets. It is tender and tasty. And the butcher blokes are always cheerful and helpful. Be prepared for slight bump upward in price, but check it out; it's worth it!

This purveyor of quality and delicious meats is a carnivores' delight. This is a go to for all of our day to day and special occasion purchases. Best in class and tops in town.

First time goers to a butcher and boy were we not disappointed. Pete's team helped us with a lot of information and taught us how to look for a great cut of meat. Ended up picking up some Ribeye, Striploin, and tenderloin! 100% will come back. Thanks!

This is a great butcher shop. I really miss it now that I moved to east van. They typically have a great selection and if it looks like they maybe out of something just ask. They will get a new set going for you. I like their ribeyes, toulouse sausage and Maui ribs.

Great selection for cuts of beef and usually for sausages. Their heritage bacon (when it's in) is unreal. Cook it in the oven. Put it in when you turn it on and set the oven temp to 350f/175C. 10min after putting it in flip and cook for 10 min more.

Awesome people work here! Helped me pick out something for a "special" occasion.beautiful ribeye. Also picked up some head cheese, made in house, delicious!

But besides that, the meat is typically pretty well priced compared to big box stores and the quality is top notch!

Pete's Meat has come through time and time again with quality meat and quality service. From making me peameal bacon to ordering me a turkey for Christmas and then putting it in a brine which made for delicious gravy from all the drippings, they will always retain my business.
They also do great sandwiches for lunch too! The guy at the sandwich counter is great at his job. Keep up the good work team.

Great selection of premium meats that won't break the bank. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly!

Passive aggressive staff who get grumpy when you ask for meat in grams. They also expect you to tip. Only reason this place gets a couple stars is for their nice hot sauce selection.

The sandwiches they serve here are excellent and very reasonably priced. Good selection of meats as well as an assortment of other quality food items.

The staff are so amazing and accommodating. They go above and beyond to make sure you get exactly what you want. The meat is high quality, always delicious. We do not buy meat from any where else.
