I got my 2 budgies from them and I am so glad I went there. They explained everything to me about budgies and how I should not try to touch them within the first week so they get comfortable in their cage. Staff was very knowledgeable, helpful, and nice

PRIME EXAMPLE OF HAVING TOO MANY FISH IN ONE TANK. THIS STORE CANNONT SELL ME A FISH BECAUSE THEYRE WORRIED ABOUT IT DYING WITH DEAD FISH FLOATING IN THE TANK. THIS. IS. DISGUSTING. TAKE THIS BUSINESS DOWN!

So overpriced…. Staff seem desperate for a sale. The manager can be heard interrogating his staff who seem to be high school age kids.why is this guy still in business? He’s so rude and mean to his staff… waiting for head office to respond to me about this man.

Great service. The attendants were very patient, explained how to take good care of my children's first pet (Hamster) and helped me choose the essentials to get started. I really liked! I recommend

Adopted a beautiful Syrian hamster here. The one we chose was one of the staff members Christine’s favourite and was sad to see her go. Our little Mochi was the calmest hamster there, she let me rub her belly and enjoyed being in my hands, we had to take her home. You can tell the staff really love all the animals and take great care of them. They are also very helpful and knowledgeable!

Called and asked the store if they have any Russian Dwarf hamsters and was told that they have 3. Drove 30 minutes out to their store just find out that they were all robo hamsters. Staff member literally told me that Robos and Russian Dwarfs were the same thing and went on to pretty much say that I was in the wrong and then she just walked away in middle of our conversation. She seemed as if she was uninterested in speaking to me. Really sad as I spent hundreds here previously, I bought a cage, a Russian hamster (since they carried them before) and supplies. Really disappointed.

If you go and buy fish and plants there ask for Christine if she is working. Young woman with a ton of knowledge, always smiling and courteous. Went there twice this week and every time I asked her if she could help me she did so promptly and happily plus she genuinely knows the industry. It is always hit and miss going there. Christine is a definite asset to this place. Her fish bagging skills are second to none. Double bagged in a way they could not get stuck in the corners. Very impressive. A + service from Christine.

An employee, named Trish, has some shockingly poor customer service skills. Please talk to your employees about how to properly interact with customers.

Surprised at the poor attitude of several staff here. I saw them roll their eyes at customers and generally disrespectful in their approach to customer inquiries.

At the till, the cashier made mistakes on all of the items I purchased: she missed the discounted sticker price even though I displayed it prominently when giving her the product (overcharged by $16). I pointed out the sticker for a correction. She then guessed the bulk item I had in a bag ($3.68 instead of $0.60) and I had to show her the name on my phone because I took a picture of before checking out.

No acknowledgement or apology for overcharging by $20 and a gruff “cash or credit” at the end. Really poor impression that makes me not want to return. I recommend shopping at either Bone & Biscuit or Bosleys instead, they’re both just around the corner and have no problems when it comes to general customer service.

Today I randomly went to look for xxs clothing and supplements for my chihuahua puppy, since it’s hard to find his size as he’s so tiny. The guy who was at the reception seemed very weird. He followed me and my boyfriend around the store which I found to be very disrespectful. After not finding what I wanted, I found something else useful I could buy, I came up to the checkout desk and he sarcastically remarked, ‘finally found something to buy eh? ’
He was offensive and rude I did not like how he interacted with me and my boyfriend. Poor customer service which made me feel super uncomfortable. Never coming back to this location. DO NOT recommend. Ignorant disrespectful staff. Buy your pet supplies from somewhere else.

Expensive, disinterested staff and very little in the way of expertise just makes me not ever go back and thank goodness I don't and I won't.

Usually have what I need in stock. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. I just wish they were open later, like Petsmart.

Customer service is superb here! Such friendly staff and owner. They are always kind to me and have helped pick out cat food, toys, and treats many times. My go to place for pet supplies.

The stuff were so rude. People (cashier and manager) always with a bad face, looking like they were doing me a favor to help me to spend money at their store. So frustrated. I was there to buy my little one first fish. He was so happy.while we are dealing with so many mad faces. Do not recommend this place for sure. They don't need our money.

Decent store, but anything you want (especially feeder fish) will be leagues cheaper at the PetSmart across the road.

Was in looking for a pet rat today, the prices are double + what most pet stores charge, but that wasn't my issue today. My daughter and I were browsing the store as the extremely rude older bald gentleman that works there started tearing strips out of two female employees in front of the whole store, completely unprofessional and to the point scared my little girl, walked out that door and will never be back. Nobody deserves to be spoken to in that manner even in private nevermind in the middle of the store with 6 people uncomfortably looking on.

I was so disgusted with the level of care the reptiles in this store are receiving.you couldn't even see in 3 of the tanks, almost all had that carpet substrate that collects mold, water pooled at the bottom of the tank. I was shocked! The fish tanks and birds look well looked after, but why neglect your poor reptiles?

I think you know what your doing is wrong and that it needs to be corrected! So smarten up.disgusting

Terrible management that mistrests the staff and forces them to push costly unnecessary products on customers in order to make sales goals. Dont support the bullying management by giving them your business.

I had to change my review. Recently I was mocked by the Manager at the till. I have no idea why he would make fun of my voice. The cashier asked me to say my phone number. He repeated the last four digits of my phone number MOCKING me! I said are you kidding me? Do I sound like a mouse or something? The cashier was appalled and apologized saying “that’s just _, he’s just like that sometimes. ” Her face was red and she stumbled to make an excuse for his poor behaviour. I won’t say his name he knows who he is. I asked him right then and there why he did that, he just snickered and walked away. I cried when I went home because I have never been so shocked and embarrassed after years of supporting a business. I hope he finds happiness and inner peace, because he’s clearly got some issues of his own he needs to work on. Please don’t speak to anybody like that ever again.

Grandview Petland location offers absolutely the BEST customer care! Their staff is very knowledgeable, can troubleshoot with you if needed, teach and give the right advice.

Went to get our first fish for a new tank today and was quite surprised at the incredible array of fish in their store. A young lady helped us pick out fish and gave us a lot of helpful information. We were awed at their operation and could have spent hours looking at their stock. Will be returning tomorrow to buy more fish and I'm sure we will be returning again and again.

I live very close to this Petland and go there often to buy supplies for my pets. Today I got there 5 minutes before closing as I didn’t realize they closed early on Sunday’s. I knew what I needed and would have been out of the store in a few minutes; however, they did not even let me go in and kept saying they were closed (even though it clearly was not 6: 00). If they actually care about pets as much as they claim they do maybe they should try to keep the store open until actual closing time. Very disappointed.

The prices are absolutely ridiculous and most of the animals looked sick and not well. Poor animals.

Poor selection in the fish department. They didn't have either of the types of fish we were looking for in stock.

Amazing Choices of food, supplies, and equipment for variety of different pets! I often come here with my niece to show her the different animals on display. The staff is excellent. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend this place for any and all of your animal needs.

So very impressed with Allan, the manager. I'm kinda old, was lonely, and got 2 little budgies, cage etc.from there and a few months later I noticed their' nails were long. Called the store and Allan came to my rescue. So fast and efficient while I was pacing and wringing my hands, lol. What a kind, caring man. THANK YOU SO MUCH ALLAN! Amazing service!

I’m glad happy they help lots.and lots explain Improvements and good discount off what I buy for dogs and anything’s toys or treAts snacks good prices.they told me best pet smart vet more cheaper prices than other vet more cost.cool wow really good improvement.wow I’m so very happy peatland helpfully.

I went in a couple weeks ago wanting to purchase a syrian hamster. Unfortunately, the sales associate named Trish, had no idea about the hamster I was inquiring about. She had no idea the type of hamster, age or gender. Her response being "Oh they came in on my day off" which is not a good enough answer to provide when trying to help someone choose a lifelong pet to welcome into their home. Afterwards, I called back and spoke to the manager and she gave me a different answer to the age of the hamster I had just purchased. I feel as though the employees should know at least the basic information of the pets that they are selling, and if not ask another associate do not just make up the answer. There were plenty of other employees just standing around Trish could have double checked with if she was unsure. Only reason I am giving more than 1 start is because I love my little girl "Lulu" who I ended up purchasing, and have had no issues with her so far

My husband and I were looking for a new groomer for our two schnauzers after our groomer went on maternity leave. We figured that we would give Petland a try.what a huge mistake. The groomer Jill stated that she knew how to groom a schnauzer but clearly did not. Totally butchered the haircut, completely removed my small schnauzers' eyebrows, skirt and other schnauzer defining features. If she did not know how to groom schnauzers at the very least she could have inquired about our expectations. We will never go back and recommend people to stay away.

I've changed my review. This place is seriously overpriced. Don't go here if you expect a decent price, just go to your local PetSmart instead. The only nice experience I've had here was the staff in the small animal section being very enthusiastic about the rats.

Excellent customer service. We adopted a beautiful black kitten from them. We couldn't bring him home right away because we were moving into a new condo. They allowed us to adopt him and took excellent care of him until we could bring him home (about 5 days). Every time we go into the store they recognize us, remember our kitten's food and go grab it for us. They also remember the name we gave him and ask to see pictures of him. We enjoy going there because we know they care about animals and are knowledgable.

Bought a dog treat and as I took off the plastic found a maggot inside the treat. Went inside to return it and the staff seemed to have little concern and told us to get another treat from the same bin. Yuck.

Love checking out the cats, has a lot of products. Really i just like that they have a room for the rescue cats you can adopt!

With two cats and a service dog with particular diets, we always find what we need from this petland. Better than that, we bring our dog, and often our 2 year old with us and are always greeted when we enter and offered assistance. When there is time between customers, staff frequently step over to speak about the various pets, offering toilet our daughter pet them, and always treat our registered dog with great respect.

Just incredible staff with a warm, welcome feeling of a family store, despite being a large chain!

Great place to go for pet food, with friendly, helpful staff and a good selection. And lots of cute animals to visit! Could probably be better on keeping hand sanitizer available.

Had a great experience at this location. Just a few days until puppy is ready to come to the house and I had gone in to get all my puppies supplies and needs. One of the staff named Aeisha immediately asked if we needed any assistance and helped with the whole process of getting everything together and was very honest, genuine, and knowledgeable in her suggestions. I will certainly be back as I find out things that I may need for the puppy in the coming days and weeks.

Employees treat my boyfriend and I like we are going to steal something every time we walk in. We are by no means sketchy/grubby looking people. But every time we walk in we are followed through out the store by the staff and watched from afar.
If the staff was trying to help.they would offer help but they don’t. They just keep an eye on you and follow through out the store. Super rude. Super unnecessary.

Nice enough rooms, the breakfast area was a mess 3 out of 4 mornings. When asked for clean cutlery and plates I was told they were dirty and was given desposables.not happy

I got to hold a ferret (we know manager) I was in love with it. You also get to pet the Guinea pigs. All of the staff are very nice and respectful.

The service there is brutal. Most times what im looking for is not in stock. I was buying my fish there which staff are not knowledgeable at all. Which in their defense theres always new employees and they are not trained.ive seen fish dropped on floor and put back in tank! Also way over priced compared to other pet stores. Also have complained to manager Alan.waste of time. He should not be running a pet store.

I would recommend this petland over any other pet store that I have been to. Thank you to the manager, Alan for answering all of our questions and for helping us to set up our beautiful fish tank. Also the groomer, Chantal did an awesome job with our fussy pup. She was very happy when I picked her up which was the cherry on top! I will be back here on a regular basis.

We were interested in buying a new fish and so we waited and waited for ten minutes for staff to come and help us but were totally ignored.

THIS REVIEW IS A WARNING TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO THIS PETLAND LOCATION:
The manager of this establishment is not a professional individual. Though he comes across as nice enough person, I have witnessed countless harassment of other employees, between rude remarks and lowering hours over any little thing, he is not fit to be manager. If you are one of the regulars that visits Petland, Im sure you have noticed that there seems to be at least two new employees every time you go in, and the rotation does not end. He will put money before the health and safety of his animals, often selling very expensive parrots and other exotics to unfit owners just to make a sale, and when confronted on any of his actions he will simply cut your hours and make your life a living hell in hopes that you quit. There is a reason that they always need employees, and the reason is that no one wants to work with him. He also prefers to only hire females, claiming they "work harder" though working there as a female does not come without the uncomfortable remarks and the feeling that being alone with him would not be a very wise idea.
Don't bother trying to go to the owner for any help, they have been friends for years.

For me Petland is fun if you go to look at the animals however that is pretty much it. We went their to get dog collars and everything is so expensive, a descent collar for a large dog was $30.
