We’ve been wanting to dine at PidGin for a long time, finally had the excuse of a birthday and came here to celebrate.
No need to look any further than the seasonal, always changing tasting menu: it’s incredibly good, based around the best of local products and excellent value. Not a single course missed the mark: to single out any as favourites in no way suggests the others were lacking: each course was designed to build the progression of the meal while being able to stand on its own merits.
That said: the dish with the braised lentils was OUTSTANDING: sure there was some perfectly cooked sturgeon sitting on top, with some lovely sautéed greens, but the lentils…OMG: braised with butter, mirepoix, red wine and a stock that tastes like it was days in the making with a depth of flavour that is the hallmark of a skilled chef: just ladle me up a bowl of that and walk away from the slurping noises….
Can’t overlook the soba noodles and mushroom dish either: it hit my partner’s #2 ranking after the lentils: rich and nutty and full of earthy nuances. But we were also treated with a surprise extra of the rice cakes with gochujang bolognese: I had read about this dish before and it is as good as the rave reviews say: one of those dishes that just can’t ever leave the menu… this one took my #2 spot.
Even so, there were a lot of comments along the line of “what about”…. The ‘fish’ toast: uni, a gorgeous compressed, citrusy snapper, a perfect bite. Or the celeriac sonata that followed… and the tempura: who knew that a piece of ginger, battered and sprinkled with flaky salt, could be so good? And the duck dish, which as my partner said, fantastic but just not quite as fantastic as those lentils, sorry!
We finished up with a dessert pair - again they treated us to a little extra: a lovely light custard that had my partner wanting to shamelessly lick the cup out, and then a perfect beignet with Szechuan pink pepper and a beautiful miso caramel.
Onto the service: we lucked out and had Jordan, who is one of the sommeliers (WSET wine AND sake) who curated the drink pairings for us this evening. Do just put yourself in these skilled hands if you can: the wine pairings were excellent, diverse and perfectly matched to their respective courses, but the sake pairings were even more nuanced and truly elevated the food as they should. If you haven’t had the pleasure of an expertly guided sake flight or pairing then you should try it as soon as you can: good sake matched well makes the food sing.
Service was personal, warm, and quietly impeccable: the courses were timed perfectly, we had time to enjoy each dish but never felt like we waited at all for the next one. Descriptions of each course were interesting, detailed yet concise. Also a nod to the kitchen team: a shellfish allergy that can often be a nuisance with a tasting menu was handled without so much as a hiccup: a quick substitution on one course and a condiment served on the side for another was done without fuss. So refreshing compared to the places that pretty much roll their eyes when you request them to work around a genuine allergy.nothing says happy birthday like a side of epinephrine. Definitely have to give top marks to Jordan though who was really a big part of making it such a lovely evening: attentive service without being stuffy or hovering.
Michelin has listed this restaurant and I expect that soon we will see another red star added to the Vancouver listings. But more to the point, we will be back as soon as we can to see what’s in season, and we already have the list of friends who we know will enjoy this lovely experience as much as we did.

Fabulous hidden gem.best date place ever.great service.great food and had am amazing date.would definitely go again and would for sure recommend you check it out. Love the menu and drink menu also.

Been a minute pidgen. Our restaurant club last dined here at a collab dinner with Galiano’s Pilgrimme in 2018 so we thought it would be a great choice for our annual xmas dinner. The tasting menu was extensive, and texture was the focus: from warming truffle soba to crispy tempura ginger to creamy finger lime bavarois, this meal was the epitome of winter kokumi. Pacific Northwest ingredients with Japanese elements were key to most of the courses. The fish on toast was a fun, approachable, and beautiful amuse dotted with Hokkaido uni and cured snapper…and the sturgeon was also a highlight.

I was really looking forward to the fall tasting menu, but unfortunately it wasn’t overly enjoyable. There were a few tasty dishes but the rest missed the mark. Most notably the celeriac salad, my table couldn’t finish eating it. I commented to the server that it tasted off and it was dismissed. Left feeling a bit disappointed.
11 October 2023 13:44
We did the chef’s tasting menu and were fortunate enough to sit at the actual chefs table. The service was spot on. The timing was great. The food was spectacular! It was so fun watching professionals executing with ease. Highly recommend!
27 September 2023 10:54
We got the tasting menu and everything was good except for the sturgeon with lentils. There was little rocks in our lentils but our server gave us rice cakes instead. The server was so nice but just a bit disappointed about the dish as it was a main course.
27 September 2023 4:58
We went there for the tasting menu which was overall underwhelming. The sunomono and salmon were particularly bland which I don’t understand. Nothing else was worth the money. Not that we were expecting expensive ingredients but I feel like a tasting menu should showcase new, interesting, or creative flavors. The tomato salad tasted like a tomato covered in mayo that you pull out of a burger. The octopus and risotto were uninteresting. The only saving grace of everything is the plum sauce in the dessert which was amazing. We also enjoyed our cocktails, especially the Busan Sunset.

Sadly I also had food poisoning 5 hours after eating here which including vomiting and extremely bad diarrhea. My boyfriend had abdominal discomfort. But to be honest the food made me more upset than the food poisoning.
05 September 2023 8:27
I would put 3.5 for the experimental tasting menu but the service was pleasant so making it a 4. The appetizers (scallop tartare and salads) were alright. The Hamachi were the best, high quality tuna. The morel tempura is a tad disappointing, too oily for me. The main salmon is sadly under seasoning to my taste but i like the charred zucchini. The sorbet is too sweet unfortunately. They do accommodate my no beef and pork diet.

Tasting menu was delectable; like that it featuresseasonal options. I loved that a few cocktails could be ordered as a flight or as shots.
15 August 2023 14:25
We had a lovely meal here with our son. All agreed the tasting plates were exceptional and will return soon. Excellent!
30 July 2023 20:40
We went there for a chef's table experience despite a negative review on this experience recently. I do think they took in the feedback.because we had a phenomenal experience.

It's impressive what they are able to create from a tiny kitchen. I definitely recommend the sake/wine pairing. We discovered some new types of sake and wine that we have not had before. The hostess took her time explaining each dish and wine. And coming from NY the price for the quality of meal and experience felt very reasonable!
13 July 2023 19:05
Don’t go here. This isn’t fine dining. This isn’t elevated service. We paid for the chef’s table experience which sounded like a nice way to celebrate an anniversary. Just to cut to the chase… We sat without any sort of acknowledgement or explanation for no food for 15+ minutes on 3 different occasions. We were without water for 20 minutes. We had an initial round of drinks, and, when the server cleared my wife’s sake glass, there wasn’t any sort of “want anything else? ” On top of that, the chef never even acknowledged us there! I don’t expect to have a sit down, but just a wave or a head nod maybe? This wasn’t inviting service. It felt like we were a nuisance here. The cost for the dinner was 250 CAD. Michelin star? Please. There are hundreds of better spots in Vancouver. I genuinely want a refund. This is unacceptable.
20 January 2023 18:32
Sincerely ask the owner to reevaluate the teasty menu. Everything teasy good, but far from enough for two people. I cannot wait for one hour and half to finish all the courses and then noitie that I need to order more food to fill my stomach.

Environment was a bit noiser than I expected.
02 January 2023 11:55
We always try a restaurant we've never been to before and Pidgin's food and service was amazing. We tried the 7 course tasting menu and were satisfactorily full. The infusion of French and Asian was delicious. The wine selection was aplenty (but don't try the German Pinot Noir - it had a weird citrus/effervescent taste to it). Overall, it was a delightful evening out and we were very happy with our meal and attention we received.
31 December 2022 1:09
I highly recommend the tasting menu, as it gives you a good sample of their different dishes. The local wine pairings were surprisingly good as well. Very friendly staff and good service.
29 December 2022 13:19
The food was amazing. It was quite easily the best dining experience I have had. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food. Anyone of them could talk to you about the dish you were having. They were clearly a team and the entire staff cared about our experience there. Definitely would recommend!
21 December 2022 23:00
As the name states it, it’s food amount and size is for pigeons (ultra small), in regards to taste it’s “ok” nothing outstanding for the price you pay.
16 December 2022 2:23
A little pricey for the portion size, but delicious nonetheless. We opted to order a la carte in order to try more dishes and enjoyed every one we ordered. The ingredients were well chosen and very tasty, you could tell that the chef thought about each dish and wasn’t trying to throw a bunch of ingredients/flavors that only sounded good together (which I find happens commonly with Asian fusion). The service and atmosphere was wonderful, and we will definitely return to try their new menus!

We had the tasting menu with wine pairing at PiDGiN while in Vancouver recently and absolutely loved the experience. Ryan is truly passionate about wine and food and it shows - his enthusiasm made the visit that much better and we probably could have chatted his ear off all night! Angela is also a huge asset to the restaurant and they made our experience so memorable. Brandon - you have a wonderful team in these two! Thanks everyone for such a nice time, delicious fresh, local food and incredible wine and sake that we savored the whole way through.
02 December 2022 3:15
Very friendly and knowledgeable service staff and attentive to our table even though we don't have a huge party with lots of orders.
30 November 2022 19:21
The tasting menu with drink pairing is the way to go. The staff were fantastic, the flavours were amazing.
22 November 2022 4:58
Went to PiDGiN as a group of 4 and grabbed the tasting menu (which frequently changes) for 3 and some of the A5 Wagyu beef. Unlike other "fine dining" restaurants, the meal is served on one plate for everyone and shared. It makes for a typical Asian experience where the food is communal and split, but of course with a more high end flare. As a group of Asian bros, it was nice and a fun experience.

Tasting menu was amazing and a ton of fun to eat. Incredible variety in the dishes and we were always excited to see what would come out next. Service came at a reasonable pace and the server was great.

The A5 Wagyu was quite frankly the best bite of meat I'd ever had and a worthy experience if you have the disposable income and have never had it before. Obviously, $100 for a few small pieces of meat is a huge expense and not something one should regularly indulge in.

Only regrettable thing is the location, which has been getting increasingly sketchy as of late, but once inside you are transported elsewhere and forget. Thanks for the great evening and meal.

I’ve been wanting to try Pidgin for many years when I first noticed them driving past East Hastings and Carrall St.

Known for their Asian and Pacific Northwest cooking styles, I was excited when I finally had the chance to try them last month.

They offer a tasting menu where you share 5-6 dishes between 2 people and they are usually food that the kitchen is developing. We decided to go à la carte and was suggested we order 3-4 appetizers, and 2-3 mains to share amongst two people.

We started off with their tuna tartare, the albacore tuna was fresh and soft, mixed in with the ikura and celery for some texture crunch. The nori purée sauce was way too salty and over powering in my opinion. I suggest using it as a dipping sauce instead of mixing it into the tuna tartare.

Next we had the kombu kobucha salad, I love kobucha squash, and all the flavours worked really well. I would suggest parboiling the peas a bit to further bring out their sweetness as raw peas can have a chalky starchy flavour.

The last appetizer we got was the chicken wings which were coated with a gochujung sauce. The wings themselves were crispy, but the sauce was too sour which became the dominant flavour. Would have been nice to see a good balance of sweet, sour, savoury and spicy flavour.

For our mains we started with the Korean rice cake with beef. The rice cakes were nice and chewy, the gochujung bolognese I felt was on the sour side.

Next we had the smoked magret duck breast. The duck breast was cooked perfectly to medium. The pomme dauphine was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They didn’t have blue oyster mushrooms that evening but the maitake mushrooms were still great. Overall I think this was the best dish of the evening.

We finished off our meal with the pork belly rice, which was served as a big cube on top of rice. The pork was braised until tender, so we mixed everything into the rice like bibimbap. I might be biased but I’m used to braised pork bellies with stronger spices and seasoning. I felt some spices in this dish could be amplified or the dish can be served with the braising liquid reduction on the side. I was tempted to ask for some of the nori purée from the tuna tartare.

Service was great and attentive throughout the evening. We had a bit of a mishap with the dishes in the beginning, but our server was super apologetic about it and even comped our drinks. Overall, I can't ask for better service than that!
16 October 2022 16:43
Pidgin has some of the best food in the city. It's consistently delicious. Their staff is so friendly, and they're great at what they do. Go there. Get the ribeye, and the rice cakes, and the beef tendons, and well, just get everything, really.
11 September 2022 18:33
Knowledgeable staff, thoughtful ingredients and combination, crispy blackened salmon skin, a satisfied palate. If only they had more nigori sake.
09 August 2022 1:16
Angela, wow, 5 stars alone on her service. The tasting menu was delicious and the accompanying drinks were spot on. Ambiance is perfect for a chill and relaxing time. All of the staff was extremely friendly and provided great service. The experience was definitely elevated thanks to them.
04 August 2022 12:59
On a very hot Saturday night in late June of 2022, we walked into a fairly quiet Pidgin Restaurant at 8: 30 PM. As is our wont, we chose to sit at the bar, and we were an island onto ourselves. No one else was at the bar. It took us aback. I anticipated a happening scene. However, there is a certain kindness and empathy that is inherent to Pidgin and its staff. Within seconds we were enveloped by warmth and camaraderie. Brandon, the owner, engaged us in conversation about the food, life, and a whole bunch of stuff, recommending the set dinner after listening to our needs. The food was fantastic, way beyond our expectations. Fresh truffles enhanced our dishes, and my Asparagus Brie cheese fondue with black truffles and almonds will remain a part of my best taste memories for years. Halibut was cooked perfectly, but the accompaniment of flavors enhanced every bite. Each dish put smiles on our faces, and the staff made us feel we were eating with friends who were cooking for us. They all took pleasure in our pleasure. How cool is that! The chef came over to say hello and to thank us for coming in. That made us feel great, but it was his cooking that made us wiggle with joy. The cocktails and wine did give that wiggle some impetus. Pidgin is another great Vancouver restaurant that shouldn’t be missed.
24 July 2022 11:48
Great Experience!

So glad we finally tried this place out. It's not in a great area of town but definitely worth going to.

We got to sit at the Chef's table and see the kitchen in action. Shared plates. We had wings, pork crisp, beef tartare. The Foie gras Rice bowl was amazing. Great local wines.yummy cocktail.

Super friendly, attentive services.

Will definitely return.

If you are looking for food that is tasty and innovative this is the place.
19 July 2022 13:09
I do not have the words to describe this experience. This was genuinely one of the best meals of my life.
From the unique cocktail flights and sake tasting flights to the dessert options, the experience was 11/10 from start to finish. The service is done in a way that is efficient, with every employee helping every table and bringing their expertise to every experience. Every single server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and well versed in the menu and in the food. Every single dish we had was memorable and impactful, from the scallop topped with shaved lime ice, to the Korean rice cakes, to the Szechuan pepper beignet. I never knew what to expect and every dish was phenomenally unique, creative, and most importantly high quality delicious. Make sure you make reservations because this place earns its customers.
05 July 2022 18:22
One of the most beautiful meals I've has in recent memory. Thoughtfull ingredients, and knowledgeable and passionate people presenting the food mixed with a little crab mayonnaise to dip perfectly crunchy tempura into.made this a very special night. Get the tasting menu. Shout out to Ryan for taking such good care of us.
24 June 2022 12:03
Of all my reviews, this one was the most difficult to write. I enjoyed my experience at pidgin. Very attentive service, luxurious preparation of ingredients, and of course tasty bites. With that said, it's impossible to separate the restaurant from its city setting. As I'm enjoying seared duck breast, some of our most vulnerable and ignored are right across the street. My take away is to don't feel bad for enjoying things, but at the same time don't forget those who struggle. They're here too.
22 February 2022 5:05
We ordered korean rice cake (which was the most interesting tast, rice cake I ever had in my life, I am from Korea so I know about rice cake dish a lot if they remove this menu the restaurant will be much more, popular. We only liked the tofu akadashi, rice cake 5/0.7 tofu akadashi 5/5 the fermented cabbage 5/1 risotto 5/2
18 February 2022 2:49
Pidgin is absolutely fabulous. I was a bit concerned about dining out in the middle of this COVID wave, but we made the reservation weeks ago and decided to stick to it. I’m so glad we did. The service was just amazing — they explained the COVID protocols immediately and are doing the best they possibly can to minimize risk. The food was fantastic and creative. We had the octopus, cauliflower, and wings off the a la carte along with dessert. Cocktail was phenomenal. I wasn’t super impressed with the famed carrot cake (it was a bit dry) but the beignets that they brought unprompted more than made up for it. The location is a bit dicey, but if you know Gastown you know the vibe. You’ll forget all about it once you’re inside and eating. Go eat here! I’ll be back for the tasting menu next time.
09 February 2022 5:29
Better than L'abbatoir ;)

Tasting menu and wine pairings were fantastic. Everything was great, but the octopus stood out for us - get extra.
31 January 2022 13:42
Always comforting to come here. One eyed samurai is my fave cocktail here. Also love their oyster shot and foie gras rice bowl. Whenever I go, I try to order as many items as possible since some items are always changing!
22 January 2022 17:07
Friday Evening meal - had the typical Vancouver Challenges of obtaining a reservation - but of course this had nothing to do with the restaurant itself.

I was very excited to try Pidgin based on the reviews.

The owner should be proud of what he built and food is good. Very Good but not great for the amount paid.

The server who served us was what made the review so poor. When one eats out at a fancy restaurant, we expect three things. Great Food, Great Ambiance and Great Service. Pidgin receives 2 out of 3 in this category. Again - the food was good, the location and ambiance itself were very nice - the server belongs in Broadway play as a pretentious server serving only the snobbiest of individuals.

I felt accosted on multiple occasions by this fellow, with each interaction feeling like he was speaking down to me. We ordered many small dishes and had some cocktails, leading up to what we hoped would be a fantastic meal and dessert. Finally, after the 5th interaction with this fellow, we decided to leave without having our dinner.

I asked the server to please bring me my bill ($180 without a main course) and we left to another restaurant to enjoy a nice dinner and dessert to cap off the evening.

As long as this waiter continues to work at this establishment - I will never recommend it regardless of how good the food is.

Side Note - the owner did come by earlier to discuss the menu and welcome us - it was classy (he did not announce he was the owner) and much appreciated.
14 January 2022 1:51
Legend in it's own time. Vancouver West Coast fusion dining at it's best. Well sculpted environment, drinks and menu that will delight your pallet. Was in recently and they have a very safe, comfortable layout. We went with the chef’s menu and our waiter was spectacular. Great knowledge, suggestions and making for an entertaining evening. The food was impeccable and delicious, fresh local ingredients. We’ll definitely be going back, a staple in Vancouver’s fining dining.
26 November 2021 6:58
I went for my anniversary and I do my research before going to a fine dining resto but It is just ok the food I was expecting more from the tasting menu, after the dinner I was still hungry, great Bison. Really nice service.
23 November 2021 17:57
Concept is interesting and food is great but for 2 and the discovery menu we paid 170. I was super hungry at the end of the meal portions are way too small!
Lower the price (dont tell me rent is expensive on east hastings) or put more in the plates please
18 November 2021 22:21
We went for the tasting menu recently and were unfortunately very disappointed. We had both been to PiDGiN before and loved it previously. This time, only 2 of the 7 dishes were anywhere close to the standard we would have expected.

Unfortunately the theme of the dishes was "underseasoned". The sashimi and maitake tempura were very bland and didn't taste particularly fresh. The octopus dish was lacking flavour and particularly disappointing because my friend had had it previously and described it as amazing. The halibut was passable but tasted more like something you'd cook yourself at home when you weren't feeling well. The only saving grace was the elk and the dessert. The elk was flavourful and cooked perfectly. It was as if the kitchen suddenly found the salt. The carrot cake was a very nice surprise. I'm not usually overly excited about carrot cake, but the deconstructed approach with various overlapping textures was a delight. All in all, the food was inconsistent and did not seem anywhere near worth it for the price. We were so dejected that we stopped taking photos of the food.

The ambiance and service was great though. Quick, efficient, and courteous. I just felt it a shame I couldn't bring myself to say more than "fine" when the server asked how the meal was. I hope I didn't come off too rude. Hopefully PiDGiN fixes the direction it is going and restores it's former glory.
18 November 2021 3:55
Had the testing menu, the mushroom and halibut dishes were good. However the octopus and elk were chewy, not tender.

Usually don't give too much thought to service but couldn't help but notice that the tables next to us that also had the tasting menu but were sat about 45 mins after us had the mains come out at the same time as ours. Our appetizers took forever to come out for some reason.
25 October 2021 19:46
Best meal I've had in Van, and I've tried lots of high end places. So much creativity went into every plate and it all tasted amazing. Everyone should try PiDGiN at least once.
22 October 2021 18:36
Overall, a great experience and I recommend anyone who likes food to check this spot out. In a rough area but worth the risk.

Very complex taste profiles on most dishes. Rice cake Bolognese had a surprise kick to it, making it quite a delicious dish. Pork belly bowl beautifully done with amazing compliments, and most dishes were excellent in fact and appearance.

Some improvements:

Host/server - Not warm and friendly, rubbed me the wrong way actually

Perception of value and value of dishes not reflective of the price

Drink service was slow for a 50% occupancy restaurant

Server did not check in on us after third round of food so I decided not to order a fourth round

Tomato could have used an additional flavor profile

It is hard to eat everything out of the bowl

Steak was very chewy, not a nice cut if you ask me and major value issue in my opinion
10 October 2021 9:05
My partner and I had an anniversary dinner at the chef's table and everything was perfect. There were lots of great drink options and a nice variety of vegan dishes. The server was friendly, knowledgable, and efficient. Everything was topped off with a tasty carrot cake dessert.

I highly recommend eating at PiDGiN. It's among my favourite restaurants in Vancouver.
08 October 2021 14:00
I ate here with friends and I had the worst experience.they forgot about my order and I waited 30 mins before I realized my food wasn't coming. The server didn't really confirm why I was sitting there with no food. Maybe they think I wasn't ordering? Not sure. When we brought it up the server was indifferent and the manager didn't really own up to the mistake and was pretty defensive. They ended up sending my order through the kitchen. By then my friends has finished their food and I was left to awkwardly finish my food which came so late I didn't even want it anymore. I'm pretty easy going when it comes to service and I understand when it gets busy.but this place made me never want to return again. I was pretty upset.
01 October 2021 7:14
This was one of our best restaurant experiences. Excellent food. We had the set menu with pairings, which I recommend if its your first time. Service was excellent. Service staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Kym was off when we were there. We are big fans of Kym from the TV show. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area. You will need to book ahead.
27 September 2021 10:37
Hands down, the best meal I had the entire week while visiting Vancouver. The dry aged striploin, black garlic butter, fermented bok choy, paired with le vieux pin, violette, syrah was DIVINE. I will never be the same.
24 September 2021 15:45
BRILLIANT. Absolutley exceptional tasting menu. Knowledgeable and friendly. I never ever felt out of place and all staff are happy to talk to you. Our servers were amazing. Would reccomend to anyone. The dishes were brilliant.
20 September 2021 20:21
Absolutely incredible meal. We especially loved the pork belly rice bowl, rice cake, and the foie gras bowl. The flavours worked really well for us, and each dish was highly creative! Well done!
20 September 2021 0:15
Highly recommend! Had the vegetarian tasting menu. They were very accommodating to the groups dietary restrictions!
16 September 2021 17:05
Delicious food, delicious drinks! Such a cool atmosphere and the pork belly rice bowl and chicken wings were out of this world.
14 September 2021 6:44
The first time I came here was years ago! I'm so happy that it's still around as the food is great! All dishes are meant to be shared which I love, because you get more variety for your buck. My favorite dish this visit has to be the octopus. It was so soft and the white sauce that came with it paired well. We also shared the shishito peppers (which was a large portion), the agedashi tofu (on the smaller side), and the fois gras bowl!

Our server was super friendly and attentive. The ambience inside the restaurant is perfect because it's nice and dark with candles and low comfortable lighting.

The only thing that shocked me was how different the area has become. Everywhere I looked there was someone homeless on the street or tweaking out high on drugs. I know Vancouver has always had a bad homelessness and drug addiction problem but its evident that its gotten worse throughout the years, which is heart breaking. The problem isn't going to go away on its own so I wish the government would focus more on programs and housing. It made me feel guilty walking through the neighborhood to have a nice meal when there are so many starving.
08 September 2021 7:23
Did the chefs tasting menu last night and the food was to die for. Cocktails super yummy, waiter super funny …… we had such a wonderful evening. Worth every penny!
29 August 2021 11:52
I had the tasting menu and it was perfect. The staff were amazing, the service was without flaw and the food was exquisite. The soft shell crab tempura with hondashi mayo was divine. I disagree with a previous review saying the octopus tasted like "fish sausage" and it was one of my favorite dishes. Being on my own I only had the halibut and it was a rich and decadent way to finish the savory portion of the menu. The carrot cake was good, much lighter than I'm used too. I loved the yuzu curd and the crisp candied carrot. In general I found it to be a cohesive concept that was well reflected in the dishes served.

Thank you
16 June 2019 0:37
The platting technique and preparation were perfect, the fusion flavor was good but not great. Very cozy, great environment. Inventive cocktails, I loved the one eyed samurai:)
Great for a date or dinner with friends.
04 June 2019 3:31
Love the Foie Gras here. Always delicious. The atmosphere is really nice. Defenetly not a cheap place, but I think it’s worth it.
29 April 2019 8:22
Came here for dine out so I wasn’t expecting too much. We added on a few items like the later shooter and the pork belly fried rice. Those were the highlights of the meal. The final dish they had as part of the dine out menu, the beef streak lettuce wrap was also very delicious.
24 April 2019 7:57
Visited during dine out and was very pleasantly surprised with portions, quality, service. Will absolutely go back!
19 April 2019 4:55
Fantastic restaurant with excellent and superior cocktails. The menu is set up for a sharing experience. Their sake list is like a wine list with a diverse selection, best to ask the waiter for some suggestions as the background of each choice is interesting to say the least. Overall a fabulous restaurant with superior service and cocktails.
09 April 2019 17:20
The food and drinks here are nothing short of amazing! Wonderful friendly staff and a very forthcoming and honest owner!
08 April 2019 4:44
Amazing food. Love the fusion asian element. Each dish was well thought out, complex and super tasty. Loved the foie gras rice. Highly recommend.
05 April 2019 17:11
Really great food. Price range is on the higher side but very clean modern cooking. Cocktails are also great.
22 March 2019 4:43
Yet another wonderful dining experience at Pidgin! We tried the oyster shots, some of their delightful cocktails, and several other dishes on their feature and regular menu. The server was incredibly nice and helpful, and kindly explained to us the menu, together with offering some great recommendations.

Definitely coming back!

Foie gras is not done and a little expensive as well. The most ridiculous thing is that the owner replied me that he has no word to say to me. Then why do you reply? Everyone has their own opinion that’s why we have this evaluation system. I must say everything is perfect in your restaurant? Ridiculous

This restaurant was excellent! We were a group of 5 from Ontario and went here sepcifically for the Dine Out Vancouver option. It did not disappoint! The food was amazing. We wished there was more! The wine that was suggested to us by the manager was exceptional. He was knowledgeable and personable. It was quite dark in there but we all thuroughly enjoyed our experience here and would return when in Vancouver. Highly suggest it!

A nice high class full menu place, where the staff is friendly and the chefs obviously have talent. My SO and I came during the Vancouver eatery festival, which made the prices a little bit cheaper, but due to the events popularity, the food seemed to suffer due to it being larger produced festival fare. The mushrooms were to die for! Would definitely love to try the regular fare.

Overall mediocre experience. The cocktail I had was quite good, but the food was just OK overall and nothing particularly stood out to us. Plating for certain dishes looked like no effort was put into it.

Especially disappointing was the service and speed we received our dishes. There was at least a 20 minute wait between each dish, and it wasn’t a particularly busy night. The table beside us, who arrived later than us and had ordered some of the same dishes, had all of their food served and finished before us. They were out the door at least another 20 minutes before we were, and my group does not eat slow either.

The reviews for this restaurant seemed really good so we decided to give it a try during the dine out event. Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was utterly disappointing. Most of the dishes were either over salted or under salted. The dine out menu had a risotto dish. The risotto was undercooked to the point where it felt like we were eating the rice raw. We had to ask them to remake the risotto because it was too undercooked to eat. We were hoping that the risotto would be cooked properly the second time around; however, when it came out, it was barely edible and was still quite undercooked. The service wasn’t that great either. The server asked one of my friends if she wanted truffle in the mushroom dish and she said yes, only because the description already mentioned truffle as one of the ingredients in this dish. Little did she know, the server actually charged her for this truffle, which doesn’t make any sense because it was listed as one of the ingredients inside the dish. We don’t mind paying for the truffle but we would have liked a little more transparency in his communication. Overall, very disappointing Dine Out Vancouver experience and we will not recommend this place to friends or family.

My fave restaurant in Vancouver hands down. Their food is amazing. I wish the location was better!

One of the best restaurants in Vancouver hands down. Attentive service, delicious food, excellent bartenders, great Japanese whisky and sake list! Love this little gem! Whenever I have friends or coworkers visiting from out of town, I take them here. It's an excellent Vancouver experience. It's also a great spot to go to dinner with friends or for a datenight. Definitely get the chef's tasting menu with the Sake pairings. Well done team!

We reached a little late and tasting menu wasn’t available then, however I ordered pork belly friend rice and it was great. Red wine selection is not that good.

Amazing food and experience. Unfortunately slightly let down by a poor wine pairing and option to 'add on' addition food options. Could be so much more if focused on holistic dining menu and better wine. Great service and very thoughtful staff

Had the omasake, some dishes I didn't enjoy like the oyster shot but overall it was really well executed.

As I step in and sit down, the first words out of our servers mouth felt like it had already determined it’s fate. “It’s 6o clock and we need this table by 8: 30. ”

I believe Abraham Lincoln was told the same thing that night about his loge (theatre box seating).

The food was already ordered for family style eating, so the restaurant determines really if we get out on time. The food was overly salty. There’s seems to be sauerkraut in most dishes. You’ll see them
in my pictures, the beat salad, the slow braise short ribs and duck confit. I believe the salmon with crispy skin is the only dish I can say I enjoyed.

So as the desert came out it was about 8: 20pm and I reached for my drink and it was gone. I asked the server and she said it was empty and took it away. I’m pretty sure I hadn’t finished my Moscow mule but I’m not about to Rock the boat when everyone is having a good time. However I don’t think I’ll be back when there are plenty of places, that wouldn’t rush a meal.

I truly want to give this a 5 star but strictly due to the price/value of the restaurant I can't. The set 8 course menu was $65 per person and we just thought that was too high for what you got. Dont let the high number of 8 fool you, a little bowl of nuts isn't really a course. The duck leg was fantastic but you really wanted more of that great hoisin flavour to be there. The salmon was great, but not over the moon amazing. I do recommend this restaurant, especially for the exceptional service and knowledge of the staff. The biggest standout has to be the service. Thank you for a wonderful night and spectacular sake.
