I hate the trainer there at the New Westminster branch. He’s very rude, and I feel like he’s a racist. Also, he has horrible bad breath that needs to be treated for his job and customers. I don’t want to learn any exercise from him. Please hire one more trainer who’s kind to the customer.

Very nice gym. Staff is friendly. Good ambience too. The gym trainer Carmine is jovial, kind and helpful. He genuinely helps his clients.

They lie about policies here in order to get more money from you. I've never been so disgusted with an organization in all my life!

Love the flat monthly fee none of those bi weekly rip offs. Lots of equipment and the staff is friendly and helpful

With sadness, I am editing my planet fitness New Westminster review from a solid 5 (below) to a 2 due to recent circumstances.

First off, I want to voice that all of the front desk staff and the fitness trainer, Carmine, are excellent, so this has nothing to do with them. Also, the gym is clean and the equipment is in good shape.

I am however, most concerned with the fact that the fitness trainer is going on holiday for one month and I have been told by other staff members that there is no replacement for him. I tried to personally speak with the manager about the situation to verify this, but she was "not available". I consequently emailed more than a week ago, but have still not been responded to. I know that other patrons have also expressed concerns about the situation. To not have a back up plan in place is simply inexcusable. We pay membership dues that include training and one month of no classes is too long of a time. The lack of communication on this issue is also disrespectful to the members.

A second concern is that both the ceiling fans in the functional training room have been broken for a ridiculously long time (one of them for about 6 months). Apparently they are "waiting for parts". That room gets so hot and stuffy that it is sometimes unbearable. Maybe it's time to give up on these parts and just purchase new fans? Ventilation and air circulation should be a priority in a gym setting so that you are not endangering patrons.

I am not sure if these above issues are stemming from trying to cut costs, but budgeting for employee absences and general facility maintenance should be allocated in the branch budget.

Perhaps Planet Fitness needs to consider hiring a couple of staff to fill in for training/front desk for absent employees. The cost of these employees could be shared amongst the branches in the lower mainland and they would be assigned where needed as vacations and illnesses occur.

PF New Westminster is great. I was actually not shopping for a new gym as I already belong to another gym, but this was opening near my workspace, so I joined for the convenience, for something to do on lunch hours when it is raining, and because of the low price.

Over the past 3 months since it has opened, it has now become my favorite gym. I normally go in the early mornings during the week before work, sometimes to work out on my own and sometimes for fitness classes.

Jeanine, Andrea, and Matt are the usual front desk staff for the weekday morning shift and they are so friendly and helpful. They keep the place spotless (it's probably the cleanest gym I have ever been in), organized, and they seem to have a good rapport with all the members that come. Carmine organizes the fitness classes and he makes the training enjoyable yet challenging and effective. He is very encouraging and motivating and knows just what to say to keep you going.

There are a lot of extra amenities for the black card members (tanning, massage beds/chairs, etc.) and the availability is pretty good. It's a simple sign in system on a clipboard when you arrive to the gym.

The equipment is in excellent condition (it's a new gym, so the equipment is also new), is spaced out adequately, and there are plenty of cardio and weight machines available.

The ventilation is good in comparison to other gyms and they have these huge ceiling fans rotating which keeps the place cool.

Sometimes the app to sign into the fitness classes is a bit glitchy in that sometimes the calendar is unavailable, so you sometimes have to retry a few times or get the front desk staff to sign you up. I don't think the app has anything to do with the New Westminster location, rather, it's likely manned by corporate.

I highly recommend this location!

The staff are great! Very friendly and efficient. Attitude welcoming. All kinds of people and levels can feel comfortable. The layout of the gym is spacious and the equipment is very good. The spa options are enjoyable and easy to access. Very happy to be a part of your gym. Debbie

Love the massage chairs and the Hybrid tanning!

Been waiting to see when are they gonna fix the fan (more than a month and they can't fix it) in the ABS section smell very bad. But they always send you a text to remind you to pay on time the bill

Clean gym with lots of new cardio equipment and strength training machines. Great atmosphere and location.

Very bad service and app design. My credit card expired, and didn't pay in time. You know what? They didn't give me any notice, but waited quietly, So they can charge late fee after ten days. When I complain to their staffs, they just repeatedly saying it was in the contract, like it was all my fault. See? They already planed to set their customers up at the beginning. What a bad experience.

Very organized and very accesible facilities. Staff is highly recommended for great customer service.

This location need improve the management, sometimes there is only one stuff even none in the front desk, sometimes there are a few, some staff less welcoming and careless for the clients.

I love this location. It’s big, open and clean. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. I’ve been to other locations and i think I’ll stick to this one!

I have been a member for a year, best gym, best deals, gym is so clean and the staff are so friendly.

Excellent place to workout with a friendly staff and atmosphere. Raj, Andrea, Matt, Janine and manager r superb in being helpful and always willing to help it’s customers. Carmine has been second to none in assisting me thru the past 3 months in getting stronger, healthier and more fit with my routine. So thanks a bunch to all of them. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Me: Currently black card member, years of training, previously with another local gym. Roughly 4 months with Planet Fitness. Typically working out around 4 or 5am.

Should you join PF? I'd say it depends on your goals and fitness level. Staff wise, they're nice and helpful, and knowledgeable enough for the equipment available. You can show up during staffed hours to have a tour of the place.

First I'm going to say is, there is a ton of cardio machines. We're talking aisles of cardio machines. There's also an area to do circuit based training, and a stretching area, as well some TRX gear. There's a fitness instructor for the TRX.

In terms of strength training, you're limited to 4 Smith machines, 4 cable systems, 1 to 2 of the usual fixed resistance/weight machines (pec deck/leg extension/etc types). The max dumbell is 60lbs. There's some kettlebells. There are no squat racks, barbells or bar variants. Plates are available for the Smith machines and 1 leg press - 5lb, 10lb, 25lb, and 45lb. No 35lb

I'd suggest check it out yourself and see if the equipment will fit within your goals and fitness levels, even if that means varying parts of your routine, say longer tempo, more iso hold, more reps, etc etc. Because it is cheap at $15 or $25 per month.

As my visits are early mornings or mornings, I have minimal exposure to the afternoon and evening crowds, but that's usually their busiest times. The PF app shows a "crowd meter", but I'll leave that to you as to how accurate that is.

Black card membership has access to the back area, with 2 massage chairs, 4 aqua massage chairs, 4 tanning rooms.and.some other rooms for another perk. I've only used the massages and tanning rooms.

Classes are available via the app, but I have yet to participate in one.

I have the high school summer pass. I know many of the one-star reviews have to do with teens being careless with the equipment, and this really is a shame. I do think that the pass has the right idea, but a poor execution at the expense of paying customers. Either way, it is a great gym with a great atmosphere. (And I mean, the pass directly benefits me, so 5 stars)

The staff is always chilling here night shift there's one white girl who always laughs and have fun! Never seen any staff cleaning equipment or doing any work rather than play with their cell phones or chit chat and have fun!

This place has tje kindest staff. I was unsure to go cause of my weight and they treated me very well. I never felt uncomfortable at all amazing gym. I'm a Gan of tje spa it always available when I go and very clean. AGAIN THE STAFF ARE?

The Free summer pass was great for students who wanted to actually be in the gym for once (me) and a great way to be healthy in the summer other than playing games all day

The staff and the place is very friendly and most people clean the equipment after use

People who complain about the teenagers are just overreacting because in reality most teenagers are just there to actually use the gym and take turns and even ask others if they’re done with their sets

HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER PASS has to END!
Every day there's a teen:
- Starring at women like creeps
- Damaging things in the stretching room or bathroom when not peeing everywhere but not in the toilet.
- Holding up machines while texting, they don't take a normal break of 1-2min it goes up to 15min.
- Not re racking dumbbells.
- Cutting you in front of the mirror.
- Trying to work out way too close to other ppl.
- Seating on your machine after pre wiping, they don't check if the machine is taken.
- Not removing weights from bars
- Damaging benches placing dumbbells, plates, even whole bars with expose grip in direct contact. (They will be gone in 3 months, but the damages to the place will stay forever!) (No, it won't get fixed right way, the biceps curl machine is ripped for a month already.)
- Overall lack of gym etiquette.
They should not be allowed to be in the gym in the busiest times like after 4pm. Weekend nights are a mess.

Anyway, the equipment is really good for beginners/intermediates and some advanced gym ppl trying to maintain the body active if you can overcome the lack of bench press, free squat hacks and heavier than 60lb dumbbells. Black Card membership area is really nice, maybe adding more 2 chairs removing 1 tanning room would be better since tanning is always empty. (It could be a 4* but teens are ruining it.)

BEST in the business. Best equipments with most variety, spacious and clean, great washroom, sanitary conscious to avoid COVID, friendly and smiling staff, most cost effective, accessible with plenty parking. Several massage and tanning equipment.

Close to home, relaxed atmosphere, any questions answered with detail, trainer available to assist with workout program

Whenever I went, I never got the strength training empty or any machines there. I like how they have a huge section for cardio and HIT workout but they need to have more equipment and space for strength training. Overall it’s not bad!

This gym was amazing when i first started coming, but now with the kids summer promotion it's way too busy, and there's never enough machines. The teens take away from the "no intimidation" environment bc they act like they're too cool for school and just mess around with the equipment.all the staff are amazing except for one girl who acts rudley. I don't know her name but she was working June 8 at around 3: 30 pm. She's super intimidating just upon entering!

Started coming to this location when it opened up, (since it's closer to my place) and I am impressed. Facility is nice, it's a good amount of space. And customer service was great, s/o Raj in particular for the tour. It's a good spot for a workout no doubt

RUDE / SARCASTIC AND PASSIVE AGRESSIVE STAFF!
1#Female staff are extremely disrespectful, their not out for your best interest so if your looking for customer service, you wont get it from them because they act like they dominate over you just cause they work there. They also act as if their made of gold and their the best thing since sliced bread.

2# The gym has an (Alarm) they turn on if you grunt while you work out, always listening to your every sound and probably go on if you just might breath too loud while work out. From the looks of it they hate masculine men because they have a sign saying they are against body building men with tank tops holding water jugs and the gyms slogan is "JUDGMENT FREE ZONE". HOW IRONIC.

AVOID THIS JUDGMENTAL GYM, ID RATHER WORK OUT AT HOME!

Prior to joining I was going to Fitness World, which was a decent gym but I did not like the fact that too many users did not clean up after using equipment and the staff did not seem to really care. Planet Fitness is the exact opposite, where almost all users clean up after themselves, along with staff constantly make sure the cleaning supplies are properly stocked. The other positive is that the price is unmatched and there are no longer term commitments. The only negative about the gym is that the gym needs more weight machines and less cardio.

Awesome gym, 24 hours, great staff, great selection of equipment and the membership is super affordable with so much included.

I actually got this membership because I saw someone complaining on the new Westminster community page how they got banned for getting angry with the staff about not being able to use the massage chairs and that was a good factor to me that they don’t allow abusive people to work out there! Super safe space:)

As a first time person in my 50s planet fitness has me so excited and now in control of my life, the staff rock! And it's so very clean!

Bathrooms are unclean and management is rude and unprofessional, I believe her name was Kez or something but all my interactions with her have been horrible. The gym itself has too many cardio machines, that are limited to a certain speed. No weight scale and not to mention the odor that fills that gym is disgusting. Massage chairs were nice until i realised the people who use them dont even clean after them. Redlight room always has a dirty matt. It used to be cleaned and now its always dirty. Horrible gym and will never be coming back to it.

Fantastic gym. Incredibly friendly staff. Equipment and layout is all great. I am a member at Dynamic fitness in New west as well and I have not been back since signing up at Planet Fitness.

The only reason I have not given 5 stars is because they have a promo right now where high school students get to work out for free. Don’t get me wrong I think this is a good way to get young people in to fitness BUT this has made the gym a hangout spot for teens after school and around the time I am able to come to the gym. Several stations in the gym with 4-6 teens hanging out on their phones, taking selfies, messing around with each other and often they won’t even be working out, just taking up space at the one station.

The receptionist guy and pizza guy were so mean that they didn’t allow my kid to use the washroom before the tour. So during the whole tour my kid was very stressful in holding herself. They didn’t know that WE WERE NOT HERE JUST FOR YOUR WASHROOM! Plus, other staff were nice and easy going. May 19.

Place is always clean and all the staff is very pleasant and takes pride in their job and work place. Can very quickly see why so many people have been drawn in to leave their previous fitness centres to come to this one.

Spacious, affordable, modern, clean, all new equipment. Very pleased this opened up in my neighborhood.

The staff is so arrogant that the guy had not one minute to answer my question properly.

He just said "oh we are so busy here. I am signing up 50 people a day. It's getting crazy busy here".

This gym does not need new clients according to their staff.
