Tried their holiday special Chocolate Forest Bûche cake. It was rich in chocolate but not too heavy or sweet. I like it!
11 October 2023 17:32
We are disappointed with their food and service. White Spot has better quality brunch for less. Whatever they used for thickening the fruit smoothie is not well blended. The tables are not clean because they don't wipe them. The servers don't always understand what we are ordering unless we repeat what we wanted many times. We don't recommend this place for brunch.

The bakery items and the coffee taste really good but the staff attitude needs some improvement.
10 June 2023 7:06
Top notch french pastries & cakes. I order here regularly for birthdays & special occasions.
04 June 2023 22:50
Mornings can be busy especially when promotions are running but staff handle it with aplomb.
03 June 2023 8:54
You can taste the potential, but it misses the mark. Everything seems a little dialed back.
23 April 2023 7:55
This place is overpriced and pretentious. Pastries are at best one day old, stale with hardly any flavour. Drinks “mocha”, is not even close to real mocha, lukewarm and no coffee flavour. Even the dishes are chipped. Obviously, these people have no clue of the real “faubourg”, Paris. Stay away, far away.
26 March 2023 13:06
Super expensive for what you get. $90 for an afternoon tea is crazy. Just over $20 for one of their hot chocolate festival offerings. Crazy
16 February 2023 21:34
Conveniently located cafe with food and coffee. Service has been a bit slow every time I've visited. Their macarons are delicious and the assorted pastries are so cute! Their savory items are just okay.
03 February 2023 5:02
This place used to be good but now it's way overpriced. Do not order the breakfast board for two. It is barely enough for one person. Instead of the stated bowl of fruit and two croissants you get a cup of fruit barely and one croissant cut in half. For $30 I would expect more than a small snack to feed two people. It also took half an hour to prepare. Very disappointing.

This location has been here many years servicing the local community. Plenty of savoury and sweet options with friendly owners and staff to help. Nice amount of seating for a pleasant bite and drink.
17 January 2023 5:22
Things are laid out well and it's easy to sign your points account. Staff are friendly and efficient.
11 January 2023 15:21
I came here because it was one of the only places open early in the morning, and I'm so glad I went! The staff were all so friendly to me and the atmosphere was very calm and inviting. I ordered a lavender latte and pineapple crepe to go and both were lovely- the latte especially. The two came to about $19 after a tip, which is a little pricey for me, but it was well worth it and I'll absolutely be back. Thanks to the staff for the wonderful experience:)
02 January 2023 1:50
Had a few baked goods and I can't say I was impressed. Everything I tried was about on par with any bakery you could find inside of a grocery store. Absolutely not worth the price premium.
26 November 2022 8:48
Nice setting delish pastry and baked good selections for eat in and take out. Great for coffee meeting with friends over breakfast or light lunch.
21 November 2022 18:06
Always a MUST when I’m in the area! Or even when I’m not! Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and kind.
Food is amazing and if you have not had the Bordeaux Canele’ you MUST!
22 October 2022 14:38
Awesome place. Pastries are great, just the right amount of sweetness. My son dropped his piece of cake, and they were kind enough to replace it.
15 September 2022 16:39
Have heard about this bakery for a long while and finally made a visit today while I happened to be in Kerrisdale. I love croissants, so I ordered my classic trio of Almond Croissant, Pain au Chocolat, and Ham & Cheese Croissant and couldn’t wait to get home and taste them.

However, I was quite disappointed. I first bit into the Ham & Cheese Croissant and it was hard as a rock. Just tough to chew. I put it in the microwave for a few seconds to warm it up and it softened slightly, but was still hard and not flaky at all.

Thinking it may have been a fluke, I tried the Pain au Chocolat. It was slightly less hard, but still not flaky. Rather, it was chewy and dense. The chocolate filling was nice, but the actual croissant itself was not up to par.

As for the Almond Croissant, same story, different filling. Filling was tasty, but bread part was not.

Overall, I’ve had better croissants from supermarkets. There are so many other bakeries that make better croissants that taste better day-old than these ones on the day of. Could not believe that a bakery that claims to be Parisienne can deliver such underwhelming quality in a classic French baked good as a croissant. I’m giving the review 2-stars due to the filling quality to be decent. Perhaps the other pastries may be better? But, stay away from the croissants.

The Good: The Pastries, Bread, Crepes, Macaroons etc.are fantastic. Lots of places to sit. Beautiful covered patio at the back. That was a nice surprise when we first discovered it. I also ordered Afternoon Tea once via Uber. It was beautifully packaged. It came with a do it yourself pop up Eiffel Tower that provided an outstanding three tiered look.
The Bad. I called for takeout. The girl said we're pretty busy. You will need to pay in full now via phone. How does this save them time? I have no idea. You can pretty much read between the lines. We don't want your business right now. We were 5 minutes away after driving from across town. We go there very often but this might change our minds. It's better to go where you feel wanted.
09 June 2022 10:14
No vegan options except a salad. Not accommodating to people with various dietary restrictions sadly.
25 May 2022 1:27
If I could give 0 stars I would. The manager Melissa was horribly rude and even walked away from the middle of the conversation. I have an allergy to Gelatin and came to ask about a store credit and she was super rude. Her staff even tried to step in but she hushed them. Horrible Horrible manager do not go to this place until they get a quality manager!
13 May 2022 21:31
Got an earl grey and almond
Croissant and for first time ever I can say there was no flavour in either. It’s a beautiful spot but save your money and find another bakery.

Visited their W41st Ave.location in Kerrisdale expecting to be impressed. The place was busy, and the staff there were shorthanded. Faubourg is affected by the very common problem in Vancouver, not enough people interested in working in the restaurant industry. Despite being super busy, staff were diligent and explained that drinks in particular, might take a few minutes to be prepared. No problem there. Ordered a Nutella filled crêpe, a couple of macarons, and a double baked pistachio chocolate croissant. In general, the 3 were ok, but not spectacular. The croissant in particular, probably better when recently baked, but by mid day just ordinary, and therefore not worth the price in my opinion. Will have to give their other specialties a try. The cakes, tarts and savoury treats look great, and I'm really hoping that the experience will be more exciting.
08 April 2022 4:13
Good flavour combinations. Very pretty cakes and pastries. That pretty much what you would expect for a award winning bakery.
03 April 2022 7:30
I came here with my wife for brunch. The coffee and pastries are definitely worthy of 5 star.

The reason why its 4 star is the quiche. It doesnt uphold to the par excellent standard of the fresh sandwiches, cofee and pastries. Therefore, they have to do a relaunch and do an improvement.

But of course, i will be back for more experience with Fauborg. One of our favourite Parisian cafes in Vancouver?

Ham+cheese sandwich:
Really tasty and fresh, loved the baguette. You can choose the type of baguette you’d like for your sandwich.

Pistachio and chocolate croissant:
Really delicious but the pistachio paste is a little too sweet for my liking.

Iced chocolate:
My boyfriend really enjoyed it and me as well. Not too sweet not too bitter.

Latte:
Quite disappointed in the taste as it feels a little watered down for my liking.

The service is quite good and I felt welcome as soon as I walked in. Cashier forgot to serve me my croissant for a while but as soon as I reminded her she was very accommodating and kind. Definitely would recommend Faubourg for the pastries and would come again.
03 December 2021 12:30
I got a mango yuzu cake, strawberry cake, a carrot cake, and a brownie. They were all flavorless and extremely light. Maybe that is the style? Although they looked fancy, the first couple of bites were NOT yummy. Services is good though!
21 November 2021 8:02
Not sure why it took us so many years to try Faubourg but we found our new fav in the city! Definitely worth the drive for us. Even their lattes are five star! We intended on only stopping in for coffees and a croissant but the pastries looked so good we had to order more to take home!
20 November 2021 20:05
I have to say, I’m so disappointed by the taste. First impression I entered the store was smelling too oily in the air. My jacket was covered oily smell after I came out from the store. The fan system needs to be upgraded. All cakes were well presented and looked really delicious. I shared three cakes with my family. The chocolate tart was most delicious, mango cake was popular as well, good and unique combination of mango and matcha, however, the lemon tart was tasting too much sulphur and egg smells. The tart was lack of aroma, no vanilla extract added. We didn’t even finish half of the lemon tart. In my point of view, generally very disappointed: (Sorry to give 3 stars and will be back to retry around Christmas season.

I visited this French bakery shop at the heart of Kerrisdale yesterday seeing the pretty pastries, eclairs, tarts on display. There was a long queue inside.
The ambience of the place is nice and relaxed. There is a big seating area inside as well as a patio at the back. We tried their decadent tri-chocolate mousse. It was delicious. Most of the pastries cost about 7.6$ which I found to be quite expensive.
I would love to try some of their other pastries in future.
09 August 2021 1:12
One of the worst coffee tasting in Vancouver. My Americano taste like water, pastry tastes like over night. Cakes taste low quality. Its the times u regret every penny u spend.
01 August 2021 0:22
Wow. This is what comes to mind when I are here. The breakfast croissant was flaky and tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend Faubourg if you have never been here to try. Picked up some Pain au Chocolat to eat at home as well. Would definitely be back.
03 July 2021 4:29
Attractive decor and setup. Their pastries are only ok. Latte was quite disappointing (taste like it was watered down). Perhaps their cakes and other products are better? May be a while before I return for another try.
26 June 2021 23:23
It's nice but they forgot part of my order and I guess it's my fault for not double checking the bag because my baby was crying and I was in a rush. Got home and realized they didn't put the pastry in the bag: (I was so looking forward to trying the canelé
04 May 2021 10:32
Quite a disappointment this morning! The almond croissant was not what I expected it to be: empty from inside and the only almonds are scattered on top. The pain au chocolat was ok but the quality is not something that matches the Faubourg Paris name. And to top it all, the cheap brown bags were a total turn-off. You expect a nicer box for your goodies at least, looking at the prices! Ughhhhh! Faubourg should match the quality of their food and services to their prices.to say the least! This review has nothing to do with the staff but rather Faubourg itself! Never going back for sure!
06 March 2021 0:12
I Bought the 8 inch tiramisu cake and it was 56 dollars it was the worse tiramisu cake I have ever bought and tbh the tiramisu cake u can get in Safeway is wayyyy better and fraction of the price. The cake it self felt frozen and it tasted like air there was no flavour so disgusting and disappointing.
25 February 2021 6:43
Most excellent and authentic French Fare. The Galette des Rois- was sheer perfection-100% as good as any in France. And for some reason I can’t teally explain, The Best cappuccino I have ever had anywhere. In my life. Everything is as us should be.
28 January 2021 23:34
This is a fabulous place in the heart of Kerrisdale. Amazing baking/ very high quality. The cafe is relaxed with great music and vibe. Very conscientious about social distancing, sanitation, and the flow of customers. Patio out the back for nice days. Super friendly team that works so well together - Frank, Helen, Mickey, Melissa. Come shop local in Kerrisdale and make this one of your stops!
17 November 2020 3:49
Rarely do i review a place while still inside. The cafe is cold at the moment as the doors are always open but the prosciutto brie on a traditiinal baguette really hits the spot. Would have preferred food on a plate but we have to understand the times.
Covid friendly spacing with considerate patrons.
13 May 2020 7:15
We picked up some cakes and tarts for Easter and they were so beautiful and delicious. It really made a difference for my family during this very strange time!
15 April 2020 18:08
"The sandwishes are not fresh, low quality of pastries, croissants and breads so so (before noon not bad, after too soft) and cheap coffee. Looks like they would like to copy PAUL but it’s a fail. "
25 March 2020 21:19
Very bitter latte. I don’t know if it was just the barista or the espresso. There are better coffee in the area for sure.
16 March 2020 21:52
Ok coffee. Interior not very inviting. Pastry was blant and did really taste much. Fine for a quick coffee. There are better options near by.
23 December 2019 0:01
I have given this place a few chances. It is always a hit and miss.

The counter people are not honest, they claim all the baked goods are prepared daily. Well.the blueberry muffin I got this morning went straight into the garbage. Stale, fell into crumbs, dry, barely any blueberries. The counter girl insisted it was baked this morning.
14 October 2019 12:50
Lovely ambience and presentation of offerings. The iced latte was very good and the macarons too. I would definitely visit again the next time I'm in the neighbourhood.
11 October 2019 12:03
2 out of 3 items were at least a day old. Canele's texture was like stale bread. The "shell" was soggy (ie. Nonexistent) and the center was that of day-old bread pudding. Hazelnut croissant was not crispy or flaky and was simply oily. The ham and cheese croissant was a little fresher but still doesn't hold up against some of the other patisseries in Vancouver, especially for its price tag.
11 October 2019 10:11
Bought pastries and a cake for a birthday. Pastries were good but when we cut the cake we found a strand of hair inside. That killed our appetite to eat the cake and yes it's very disappointing. Even more disappointing, there was no response when I sent a complaint email through their website.
-
update: after 3 days, I finally received the email reply apologizing the incidence and offering a new cake as replacement. Thanks Faubourg for that.
10 October 2019 12:48
The place looks amazing. Just looking at the amazing food behind the glass gives me joy. I love that feeling when everything looks so good and there's so much to choose from. Its because of this that I am so disappointed by my meal. The mushroom quiche is very dense and rubbery, my iced latte lacked flavour. I had expected so much more because of the way everything looks, because of the high ratings of this place, because it's in Kitsilano. The best item that I ordered was my matcha passionfruit cake, but even that was just good. Both matcha and passionfruit blended well, but it was a bit sweet, and I thought the (coconut?) pieces in the cake took away from the overall taste.
However, this would not stop me from trying something different (the croissants or other pastries) in the future. It *looks* too good for me to not taste it at least once before deciding to go elsewhere.
24 August 2019 4:55
Nice atmosphere, really enjoyed it. Love this place. They may not really be from Paris (don't let them fool you!), but their aim is to take you to the pinnacle of cake and pastry.
06 August 2019 0:45
Great service. Amazing friendly staff. The food looks amazing but the taste is kinda deceptive. Didn't taste fresh and also do not try the quiche.
21 June 2019 9:51
If you're craving an extra dose of glitz and glamour, there's Faubourg. They may not really be from Paris (don't let them fool you!), but their aim is to take you to the pinnacle of cake and pastry.and despite trying a bit too hard in terms of decor and bag design, they do succeed - to great effect.

I love the fruit tart and opera! Also the croissant
It is like other pastry places.you order, pay, sit down and enjoy.
The place also does high tea, never tried but will like to try it.
I have been here a few times, the pasties quality is maintained. Staffs are friendly and welcoming. Tables are not very clean. I saw customers were nice to put away dishes and staff did not wipe the tables.
The only thing I was not happy about is the macarons. I ate a few old macarons which they were hard and dried.
Overall, it has a good atmosphere, delicious pasties, friendly staffs. I will definitely come back if I am craving for the pasties!

I love Faubourg. The service is outstanding. Oliver and all the staff always so friendly and looking forward to assist. The pastries of course are delicious and great atmosphere.

Booked Bistro 41 by Faubourg for 1: 15pm
13/03/2019 through OpenTable. When we arrived we opened the door into the front bakery part of the premises we told them we had a reservation. The staff looked blankly at us and left us standing there. I asked one of the staff again and I said we must have the wrong place. The female staff member asked us to wait and a male staff member came out and I asked him. He said the cafe in the back was closed because the chef was at a Tour de France event. I told him I had just booked a reservation through OpenTable and he said they never get any notifications about reservations because they do not have the app. He finally said we could come into the cafe and eat. I said "okay" and then he disappeared. After about 15 minutes he came back, gave us place settings, the menu and water. He returned 10 minutes later to take our order. The one item we really wanted, "French Onion Soup" was not available. We said we would go somewhere else. He apologized and said the whole situation was not very good and we should complain to the management. The entire experience was bizarre but the bakery in the front looked delightful.

Thanks Ken for the extra help.we wanted a sandwich without Ham. Ken offered to make us fresh one.
Coffee was great.the place is very relaxing with the right background music.
