Port Moody Urgent and Primary Care Centre

After no luck with getting into walk in clinics I thought I’d check out their website and make sure that my symptoms met the criteria and give this facility a try as I had increasing pain over time. I checked in and maybe 3 people ahead of me at the time. Waited an hour only to be told by the triage nurse to go find a walk in clinic. So I guess I didn’t meet the criteria, which is one thing. But the indifferent attitude and lack of empathy was really a slap in the face. She also told me about a walk in clinic that took appointments, which they don’t. I know it’s relatively new but man… maybe even a sign out front that says “if you can last another day and go to walk in clinic then do that instead. ”

I've had different experiences with local healthcare, but I absolutely love Dr. Brian at Port Moody Urgent and Primary Care! He possesses outstanding communication skills and exceptional medical expertise. I'd also like to mention that the staff is incredibly friendly and cooperative. During my last visit, I was too shy to explain my issue in a crowded waiting area, but they quickly found someone who speaks Russian, and I felt more comfortable. I highly recommend this place for urgent care needs. My heartfelt respect goes to the staff, and thank you for your job well done.

I was triaged immediately at 1: 00 on a Saturday afternoon. The MOA was pleasant and gave clear instructions. I was told it would take about an hour and a half to see the doctor. I was given a specific appointment time, was able to leave and return. When I came back a little bit early, I was immediately called into an examining room, the doctor promptly saw me. I was able to have a prescription filled at the pharmacy next door within 10 minutes. A cleaner sanitized the front counters while I was there and was waiting to wipe down the examine room as soon as I left. I saw Dr. Khera. He was pleasant and knowledgeable.

Took my daughter in this morning and all the staff we dealt with, especially nurse Anthony were awesome and friendly. Very busy, but they prioritize. Will go again for urgent care.

Yesterday was my 2nd undatisfactory experience at this clinic.
4 months ago I got stitches in my hand from a male Dr. There, which quickly became infected after following the Dr’s aftercare instructions to a tee.
I then had to go in a few days later and get the stitches taken out early, with the 2nd Dr. Telling me that the original aftercare instructions were incorrect.
I went in again yesterday with a swollen infected eyelid and flu symptoms and after waiting 2 1/2 hours was told by the female Dr. On duty to follow up with my family Dr.as she didn’t consider my symptoms to merit her attention even though my eyelid is twice normal size, obviously infected and extremely painful.
The only thing she did was take my blood pressure and suggest advil for the pain.
This is ridiculous and I obviously won’t be able to see my family Dr. In less than a weeks time and will miss work and possibly risk further eye issues as the infection worsens.
VERY UNSATISFIED with the level of care at this clinic.

The facility’s own site specifically describes eligibility for care and includes: infections, and new or worsening pain.

I took my daughter there this morning, waited in line before it opened, and she sat there for two hours before someone told her to go home and wait for a phone call from a nurse who would determine whether she’d get to see a doctor.

She developed sharp, localized lung pain in the past couple of days following an extended bout of respiratory illness. It hurts to inhale. I suspect it’s an infection. But hey - new pain and infection, right? Aren’t those both eligible conditions for treatment?

The “nurse” calls three hours after she checked in and essentially says unless you’re coughing up blood, you don’t get to see a doctor. No exam. Not even so much as a stethoscope sounding to determine the issue. And of course no antibiotics which would be prescribed with a diagnosis of bacterial pneumonia.

This isn’t health care. It’s a disastrous way to ration meaningful treatment.

Unless you’re bleeding or suicidal, and can simply wait most of a day to learn whether you’re sick enough, don’t bother trying to use this facility.

I was there today around 1pm because I had cut my finger badly. I was seen within 5 minutes by the nurse, and a doctor saw me right away and I received stitches. I was out by 2pm. All of the staff, including the receptionist, the nurse and the doctor were kind and professional. Thank you!

Came in too late with an urgent medical issue got turned away by a rude receptionist and told I can try tomorrow and they might be able to help me but it's not likely.

This was the 5th place I have gone to try to get medical help and been turned away. They should probably re-name the place as it's pretty misleading to think you will actually get urgent care.

My four month old baby had fever. We try calling them but never answered. Then we drove to the clinic around 12pm ish, and found out they were not accepting more patients. Way to go fraser health care!

They do not have available resources and asked to fill the form to call us back later while I see 2 person sitting in the waiting room

Great place!
As a cancer patient I've been to lots of doctors and ERs. This urgent care center is really good. The staff, nurses and doctors really care about you. I was seen only after 30min of wait. The place is extremely clean.

Very good system going on there, friendly and helpful staff. Port Moody is so lucky to have this clinic.

2,5h for the nurse to tell me to come back 1,5h later. People come here because they are sick, letting them wait for this amount of time just to say come back later it’s just disrespectful.

Waiting for 4hours and a girl just arrived after me waiting for 3: 45h and got to see the doctor in less then 2 min without an appt. We can hear all the conversation, that was nothing urgent that this person has priority on everyone that was there.

Came here once with my nephew, he was 1 year old and crying he was sick and scared. There was the rudest nurse ever, complaining that he was crying, it’s a baby!

First of all, people need to understand, this is not a regular walk-in clinic and it is not a hospital emergency room. It’s like the middle of two. So don’t expect that they will treat you like either, and it is based on urgency. If you have a rash or flu, you will be seen after a person that comes after you with a deep cut and bleeding like a fountain.
In my opinion, this is the best Urgent and Primary Care Centre in Greater Vancouver. This centre never failed to provide me and my family with the best care. All the doctors we’ve seen were professionals, caring, understanding and knowledgable. We never had to wait for longer than 20 minutes, that’s how efficient they were. Staff was never rude to us. I meant it could happen that after a very long day dealing with sick patients, they got tired and started to lose patience themselves, but in general all the staff were very cool. The clinic is very clean, I have seen one cleaning staff went around to clean the medical rooms after each patient left. That is amazing, kudos to the management. The pharmacy next door is also a bonus.

Very rude and disrespectful staff. I brought my daughter to get an infection checked out and the nurse Theresa, was treating both my daughter and I with no respect. Theresa was speaking to me a in a very aggressive tone and was doing the same to my 15 year old daughter. Dont recommend at all. Don’t come here unless you really have to because the staff is rude and unprofessional. Especially Theresa.

Called in with an urgent matter and they were friendly, compassionate, and made sure that I received assistance. Very grateful for their assistance
