Port-O-Call Inn & Suites

The older lady at the reception was extremely rude. They need to learn how to treat customers properly. But I guess you get what you pay for. Won’t stay there again.

The rooms have been re-done recently and a very clean. Big Netflix capable TV and comfy beds. My only complaint is Nanaimo's fixation with LOUD Harleys. I cheerfully await the EV Harley.

Je suis très satisfaite. Belle propreté, belle petite entrée de jardin avec fontaine (à sec mais quand même jolie haha). Grand bain. Parfait pour un repos avant un rdv à l’hôpital.

This is a real nice place to stay at affordable cost. I stay here on a regular basis on my visits to the island and I’m satisfied with the overall experience.

Well hotels in nanaimo have a policy they wont host anyone who lives in nanaimo i get it drug dealers whatever but wow discriminatin ive never experienced this anywhere else. & beware cockroacks found these little fellows hanging out in bathroom yuck i sure hope papa roach doesnt try n leave with me

Our room looked like it had been recently renovated and it was clean, great soaker tub, nice bedding and everything we could want for a 1 night stay. The area was a little noisy at night but didn't detract from our overall stay.

Staff were impolite and unpleasant upon booking and general communications. I grew up just down the road from here and would Never recommend a stay here.

We stayed in room 100, and brought our two small rabbits, which we bring on all our stays with no issues. Upon entering our room we noticed cobwebs on the ceiling, and bathroom ceiling fixtures were missing. Microwave was absolutely disgusting. After some organizing we noticed our socks were black from the floors. We put the do not disturb sign on the door as we went out for the day and left our pets in there. When we came back the sign was on the ground and there were some towels on the chair inside. I went to the office and spoke with a woman who said the wind must have blown it off, which I find extremely hard to believe. She then asked about my pets saying that they were not dogs and we would have to clean up after them even though I explained that I had paid a pet deposit and have never had a problem with our pets at any other place. This is the first review I've written, as I am extremely disgusted by my experience. I would never stay there again, and wouldn't recommend.

Great location, close to downtown and was able to walk to the Thursday evening market. Ilona was very helpful with how to get there. Thank you

Coming from out of town for work! I was in a rush to get a place and found Port-O-Call on Booking.com (not a plug lol)
On arrival I loved the look it felt like a getaway with a giant fountain in the front, unfortunately the fountain was not flowing
When to the front desk and was greeted by a nice man, I filled out the paperwork (no birthday info was asked as one reviewer said they had to give that and got scammed)
Got my key card and went to my room.

Arrival at room and was fairly happy and only a few overall complaints.
I had one that had bedroom and living room.

Pros:
Staff was nice.
Room was nice.
Coffee was good.
A/C unit in the bedroom and standing fans to help circulate.
Tv was ok
Fridge and microwave worked well
Big shower head
Close to the harbour boardwalk
Lots of parks close by

Cons:
Queen bed had a crater on one side (fine for 1 person)
No A/C in the living room.
Front Door was sticky
No bathroom fan
Flickering lights
Fountain was not functioning

Some of the cons are just me being picky lol, would I recommend this place! I would but can only vouch for a onetime stay in one room so it's all up too you.

Rooms were clean but they were in need of repairs. The door was extremely hard to open. Peeling paint, repaired holes but not repainted. The accessible accesses were dismal to say the least. The staff was very friendly however so there was that. Location was by a busy highway with sirens going off all night however you were within walking distance of certain centers.

After leaving a hotel from rude staff over my card malfunctioning I came here, they were patient, and friendly, after we got my card to finally work I was supposed at how nice the rooms were for the low rate, nicely redone bathrooms with stone, extremely clean. I am glad that I had troubles at the other hotel to find this place, made my day so much better

Do not stay here. They are fraudsters

They ask your date of birth and all kinds of additional information that you do not need typically need to stay at hotel. I made a big scene about this in the lobby when I got a room. This was literally 12 days ago. AND NOW MY CREDIT CARD I USED HERE HAS BEEN FRAUDED

Right beside a busy road so very loud. Also full of sketchy people so was pleasantly surprised each morning I woke up alive. There's no furniture in the room or anywhere to hang or store clothes so that's annoying too. There was a kitchen table and a couple chairs which was kinda weird since it would have been more beneficial to have like a dresser? Definitely will not be back

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!
Called to book a hotel room just now on behalf of myself and husband, the EXTREMELY RUDE MAN who answered the phone hung up on me as I was trying to ask if we could book with my husbands credit card, he very rudely hung up the phone as he ASUMED i didnt have a credit card. I called back as we do have a credit card, he verry rudely refused to give me his name and i told him it was extremely rude that he hung up, he yelled back that i dont have a credit card and then hung up again.just because its a skiddy cheap motel dosent mean all guest are skids!

I had amazing experience at the port a call in, staff if super friendly, rooms are very clean and nice. 7 Eleven is right across so if you wanna grab few snacks you can walk it over. I recommend port a call in to everyone that wants to have a great experience. If there were 10 stars I would give it that.

My friend and I were trying to get back to Vancouver, but all of the ferries has been canceled. As it was already after 8pm we were desperate to find overnight state. We got non-refundable room in the Port-O-Call Inn, which in my understanding meant that we already paid for the room, not for reservation. In couple minutes, I received confirmation text. We walked 2km in terrible wind with our backpacks and other stuff to the place, to learn that they do not have any more room left for us. My assumption was that room we initially booked, has been given to someone else, even we already paid for it and got confirmed. Lady who were behind the desk was not helpful, it was like "sorry, I don't have room for you guys". When I asked about my card already being charged, she advised me to call Expedia to cancel it and she will confirm. She refused to provide written note of rejection - I was afraid that when Expedia would call to the Inn asking about the situation, she would deny it. At the end refund from Expedia came through just fine, so I understand rejection was confirmed.
The whole experience was terrible.

Decent motel. Upon entering we were overwhelmed by the smell of cleaning chemicals used but we aired it out. Bed was comfortable and clean, pillows as well. Thanks for the great hassle free stay!
