Porto Taco

Amazing food. My personal favourite order is a veggie combo platter - incredible and such a huge portion! My husband always orders the veggie taco salad, which is also delicious. Definitely recommend, we are locals and frequent this restaurant. They also have a great patio and delicious margaritias - amazing spot for a hot summer day.

Food tasted good. Good portions and prices, depending on the dish you order. Customer service was a huge turnoff and a great reason to not come back. Happy Hour is advertised all over, but they were not able to tell us what was on Happy Hour or prices. Did not come across as the friendliest people, not making any eye contact or conversation while ordering. Not a fan of the high tip percentage options, 30% for ordering at the counter and getting our own water? And one of the workers smell of cigarettes was pretty strong, for the one time they came to our table. Just overall not impressed with the customer service.

Spent $115 on 7 tacos and a margarita. The order was all mixed up between 3 people and an additional taco was charged to the bill while one we ordered was not. After approaching a staff member they laughed and showed us the bill which was not accurate. All mexd up is a block down and much cheaper. They’re service is so much better. I do not intend on coming back to port o taco.

Wow! Shoebox of a restaurant but food makes up for lack of space. Fish tacos amazing. Will be back for sure

Stopped at Porto Taco while driving through Port Alberni. The food was delicious! And the staff was super nice. Would 100% come back again!

Visited here with husband and kids, paid $68 for four full meals (2 mucho nacho, taco salad and burrito) that my eldest granddaughter said deserved and a 'Chef's Kiss'. I couldn't agree more, first time there and it was so delicious!

If you are in Port Alberni and you've never been to Porto Taco, you must go! Right now!

Probably one of the best tacos I've ever had. My husband agrees. We got the chicken and red snapper. Good size, perfect amount of sauce, fresh.incredible! We will be back.

Great food and fantastic prices! I had the chicken tacos and they were amazing, especially with their jalapeno sauce. The staff were very friendly and the place was nice and quiet despite being quite busy, which was really nice

Smelled a bit funny inside, so we ate outside and the food was delicious. Great fresh tasting tacos and lime juice.

Best Mexican food we have ever had. My husband had the nachos with beef and I had the enchiladas with rice. Both were so flavourful. The ladies were friendly and helpful. I’m not sure when we can go back but I can’t wait to.

This place is somewhere I always made sure to stop when I'm visiting Port Alberni. But likely not after today.

I walked in, no one in front or behind me, promptly ordered and paid. I watched a steady roll of customers order, eat/take out, and leave after me, while I sat and waited and left people waiting in the car.

With what seemed to be a pretty good staffing set up in the kitchen, they told me "only a few more minutes" each time I asked about my order, wondering to myself what the heck was taking so long - the restaurant was empty, and the kitchen staff were visiting amongst themselves and had starting cleaning up in the back.

After 30 minutes of sitting there, not one employee asked me what I was waiting for so they could find out what was up. Instead, I was offered a margarita while I waited.for another 15 minutes. Finally I walked up to the kitchen myself - I could see no one was working on assembling a very uncomplicated, $48 order of only three beef burritos to be told "oh sorry, we lost your order. "

After scrambling to pull it together, the only way they offered to 'make it right' were with endless apologies thrown in with some complimentary churros, and chips and salsa that we didn't want in the first place.

The cherry on top: there was a hair found in one of our burritos - they all ended up in the garbage.

To end on a positive note, the margarita was delicious. But I can't say I will be rushing back or talking this place up to my friends and family in the area anymore after this sub-par experience.

Excellent food (chimichanga is delicious). I would recommend dine in there when visiting Port Alberni.

Hubby and I got some take out, with churros to go. Sooooo yummy! I crave those churros all the time. They offered us samples of spicy cookies and two separate drinks they made from scratch. Definitely will be going back!

Great variety of vegan, vegetarian and regular food. Its better without restrictions but they have no problem accommodating

Fresh, flavourful and high-quality food. Friendly, efficient and professional service. Chimichanga is generously portioned, as is taco salad. Order at least 2 tacos or tostadas for a meal, 1 is good for a snack.

Absolutely amazing place! Highly recommend! Wonderful customer service! Fast service! The "boss lady" (sweetest lady ever) even brought us out extra chips and salsa because we ate it so fast! The prices are great for the quality of food you get! Everything was so fresh and flavourful! We will most definitely be going back!

Amazing burrito! A huge serving! Beef taco was fabulous, only needed one, guacamole coleslaw served on it was amazing! Churros were great! Great friendly service!

My daughter works here and LOVES going to work when her schedule allows! We also LOVE the food. So nice to have options and every time it has been consistently fantastic! Way to go everyone. I am happy that the owner gives younger people the opportunity to prove themselves as well. Keep staying great!

Great food and mostly great drinks. I'd pass on the tequila sunrise, not sure if it was bad tequila, orange juice or the fact it was a double but it was awful. Everything else was excellent.

Yummy, fresh and very presentable! Gave 4 stars as I didn't like the way the manager or owner (not sure) lady talked to the young girl working the register. She seemed stress with it possibly being a peak hour but personally I couldn't work in an environment if my boss was talking to me like that. Sometimes it's not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it.

We were visiting Port Alberni and happened to come across this gem of a place. Anyone who visits Port Alberni would know that finding take-out or dine-in food (other than greasy spoon) is difficult later on a Sunday evening. I called this place a half hour before they closed, and the lady I spoke with was very warm, helpful and eager to serve our family of five, despite being so close to their closing time. When I picked up, the location was just as warm and inviting as the people working. And the food? ! Delicious! Homemade with care and very fresh. If you haven't been, you simply must go!

Very nice. Friendly staff and good food. We had the beef burritos. Shredded beef, not hamburger, with gauc and cheese. Lots of other people eating there as well. They're margaritas seem to be very popular. Nice change of pace.

Visiting from Calgary this places was recommended by a friend who lived here for a few months. Did not disappoint. Tacos were excellent had the shrimp and the fish. Both flavourful and very fresh. They had about 5 or 6 hot sauces to choose from including 2 housemade sauces. Make sure to finish with a churro. Very good. Not overly cakey. Nice and crispy and sweet.

Ordered two fish tacos. Wait was not bad but this was just before five pm. The tacos were nice and tasty but I thought pretty small for a meal costing $14. I was still hungry after and I am not a large guy.

Huge portions compared to Tacofino in Victoria and it's super delicious. The staff were all very friendly too! You'll definitely want to stop here for a bite!

Amazing food, so much better than we even expected! Definitely coming back again. All the sauces and flavours were delicious. The fresh salsa tastes just like your on the beach in Mexico.

Tacos were very good, but quite a long wait. Looking forward to trying other menu items. Hopefully next time will be quicker.

Sooooooo Good, I really can't wait to go back. I went as a recommendation from a friend. Who eats here with his work crew when the come into town. I had a Chicken Taco and a Beef Taco. I was told to try the Taco salad next time.

If it wasn’t for the chicken burrito I would give this place a solid 5 star from the service to the other food! We ordered shrimp and fish tacos those were on point! They were delicious. The nachos were also top notch. My only issue was with The chicken burrito. It wasn’t the best to be honest! The rice and the bean were predominant. We were not able to taste the chicken! We will definitely comeback when We are in the island again

Awesome place, great staff and quality of food. The only downside is I’d really wish they’d stay open all year around. Port is becoming a year arround residential town and for it to continue its growth you really these quality places to stay open in winter.

The fish burrito is outrageous, very filling and fairly priced! Service quick and friendly. Convenient location on our way back from Tofino before the ferry.

All customers were wearing masks except any of the restaurant staff. Took 30 minutes to receive our take out.

Ordered the nachos. They were fantastic. Well layered with lots of chicken and other toppings. Extremely good value as well. Would definitely recommend.

We stopped by to grab a quick bite on our way to Tofino. Me and my husband were very impressed by the food we received. We have a had Mexican food at lots of places in Toronto and this one is definitely one of the top spots for Mexican food that we have tried so far.

We had a great lunch at Porto Taco! My husband really enjoyed his chimichanga and my veggie taco was super good too! The sangria is a must!

Wanted a vegan meal in port. Not an easy feat. This place had great service and the burrito was generous and tasty.

So fresh and so yummy.gave tacofino a run for their money! Good service and reasonable prices too. The fresh chips and salsa to start were a great touch!

Service was great, staff was friendly. Food was delicious! It was an added bonus that our dog could join us on the patio. Looking forward to our next visit!

I am Celiac and there aren't a lot of good options for us gluten free folks around. I walk in having never eaten mexican food after hearing they had lots of gluten free options and I was amazed. Went for lunch and came back the next day. Really fast service good food and cool spot:) go try it

They seem understaffed and that affects service, but everyone is happy and the food is high quality.

Unremarkable! I will confess I lived 38 years in San Francisco and am used to Mission style burritos. I had the pescado burrito and was immediately disappointed as the fish was breaded and seemed to come from a box? The taste was bland and the burrito was clearly toasted on the flat top which made for a crunchy burrito. In the real world tortillas are steamed or fresh (rarity). Oh well, the search for a great burrito in the PNW and BC continues.

Best veggie chimichangas I’ve ever had! Very tasty, reasonably priced food, friendly service and fun atmosphere.

We stopped here on our way to Tofino and fell in love! Love the music, the decor, the outdoor patio, and especially the food. So great!
