Long time customer, never felt anything bad about Price Smart Foods. However, with the new logo and color scheme, black/dark gray, I was shocked by the ugly design and it made me say "ewww"…

Casher name Ling was so rude so I
complained to the management by email.
He told me that he spoke to her and never happen again.
However, Ling is still rude every time include even New Year’s Day. I believe that she remember me and discriminates me badly.
Hate to shop there cuz her attitude is ruining my day.
Now I can say what is the point of complaining, doesn’t change anything but give you manual apology email and then done with you.

I must commend Chris, the supermarket manager, who embodies exceptional customer service. On one occasion, I sought a baster, and he went above and beyond, personally assisting me in locating it despite his busy schedule. His leadership radiates through the entire Pricesmart team. They don't just provide directions; they accompany you to your desired item. Although I usually prefer to navigate the aisles myself, whenever I've sought assistance, they've consistently guided me to the exact product I needed. While it's crucial not to set this as an expectation, it's worth emphasizing that courtesy towards the employees goes a long way, as they are unfailingly friendly.

The store's staff members are a beaming, friendly, and ever-helpful bunch. I cannot recall a single instance of encountering an employee with a frown, a testament to top-notch management.

Pricesmart's operating hours are exceptionally accommodating, starting as early as 7 AM and closing late. This flexibility has rescued me during those last-minute snack runs or when picking up essential medications.

Don't overlook the recycling area, where you receive ten cents for every beverage container you've purchased from them. This not only constitutes a fair deal but also contributes to a more sustainable environment.

Now, turning our gaze towards the pharmacy, Shelley deserves special recognition. She went the extra mile in searching for my new insurance carrier number, sparing me an additional trip back home. Notably, she exhibited patience and dedication, even when there was someone queued up behind me.

The supermarket also offers a delightful selection of hot, ready-made meals for purchase. This proves to be an immense convenience on those days when cooking feels like a daunting task.

One particular area in the supermarket that continues to pique my interest is where they sell ingredients by weight, spanning from candies to herbs to spices.

Lastly, the pastry section at Pricesmart deserves a special mention. It's where you'll find the undisputed champion of Tuxedo Cakes in town. Whenever we host parties at home, it's an absolute must.

I'd love to name the outstanding employees I've crossed paths with, but their numbers are simply too vast. Nevertheless, each of them deserves our heartfelt appreciation for consistently delivering exceptional service.

One noteworthy area for improvement in the pharmacy is the implementation of a system to contact customers or patients once their prescription is received from the doctor. I've noticed that another pharmacy in Richmond offers this valuable service, and I sincerely hope Pricesmart can invest in a similar system.

Should they adopt such a system, I would not hesitate to award them a remarkable 6-star rating. However, for now, I can confidently bestow upon them the highest possible rating of 5 stars for their unwavering commitment to excellence.

It's like a save on I guess, if you're looking for Asian specific groceries, you're in luck, everybody else it's just a subpar Save On

It’s really busy there and it always is and I rated it three stars only because you can never find anybody staff ways to give you a hand when you can’t find something.

Ground pork has been made from pork meat injected with lots of water:
I purchased a pound of ground pork from PriceSmart a few weeks ago, after putting the ground pork into a freezer for a few days, and then I took it out yesterday, during the defrosting process, it was noticed that there was a lot of water coming out of the ground pork.and the ground pork shrank a lot after it was being cooked to only half of the meat mass. It is obviously that staff at PriceSmart meat department injected lots of water into the pork meat used to make ground pork to increase the ground meat weight when it went on the scale. This is a common weight cheating practice in some developing country. I am sad to see that it is now being used in PriceSmart Richmond, BC location.

Fruit and vegetables not fresh, not replace the bad one, sometimes no more meat, not put more stock, staff work at the vegetable section is lazy always talking with each other.

Great fun place with lots and lots of Asian snacks (more than normal for a price smart location)

Fresco superstore walmart and even Safeway have better Prices most of the time than price smart but they do have the odd deal sometimes.

PriceSmart foods is a mainstream supermarket. Also sell chinese cooked food like dim sum and Japan sushi. Not a best of the best taste of food sell here, but good to try buy food here.
Cooked chicken and some western cooked food left side supermarket in the warmer. After 3: 00pm some Asia cooked food like dim sum have discount. Behind a warmer is coffee machine. Also sell bread and cake.

I really like this store. Manager Mr Josh and Mr Chris both are really very nice, even helpful. If I talk about availability, this store has huge variety. Moreover, staff is very cooperative.

Many choices, I got high quality Japan made frying pan, the price was less than T&T 10 bulks. Happy shopping

As a visitor, I have visited many grocery stores in Richmond area. Most are good and PriceSmart is on par with those nice groceries. But one thing is distinguishing it from the rest, it has more variety of goods. For instance, it has 6 egg box and shelled egg plastic bag, among other things. The employees at the store is courtesy and knowledgeable as well. For those reasons, I give a 5 star rating.

Bought a bag of bread and found out there was two holes which looks like someone put finer in and touched it’ll the bread, customer service told me they cannot do anything if the products left the store. I wasn’t asking for returning but at least give me a new one.

Just wanted to share my experience with Ray, at the checkout counter.

I usually don’t purchase flowers with groceries and was kind of in a hurry to get going while picking up milk in the morning, so I picked Rays counter because it had shortest queue.

Ray was very warm and professional, proving me insight into caring for the roses I purchased.

Never had a better experience, hope word gets back out to Ray!

Feels sort of like a combination of TNT and Save-On-Foods. A good variety of both Asian and standard fare. A great hot foot section with BBQ meats and a variety of hot dishes and dim sum. Lots of fresh seafood and various meats. The bakery section has standard coconut and BBQ pork buns, yummy cakes and other deserts. Prices are good and the service is friendly. Parking lot is large with lots of spots.

I just moved in from Toronto and the asian hot food selection/groceries are pretty great. I usually go on Saturday evenings, and the cashiers are always fast and polite. Would recommend, but only if you get the points card, because it gives a significant discount on certain items. Otherwise the groceries are a lot more expensive.

Excellent place to shop for BOTH Asian food and conventional western staple good.and tons of parking spots.unlike some other supermarkets where you have circle for many minutes before finding a spot. And cashier lineups are almost always speedy and quick

Items are getting more and more expensive and less competitive. It becomes almost impossible to find any bargain now.

Worst customer service, they would not help me with a simple return. The team lead, manager (Ronnie) weren’t able to help me, instead starts laughing behind the computer screens. Very unacceptable. These managers and customer service rep needs to get re trained and learn how to respect their customers and do their best to help them out.

Always enjoy buying groceries here! Great price, wide western and Asian selection, and the music is always lit.

Great variety of products here, I’m always amazed by their ready-to-eat food section. You can find all your grocery here and they have a large parking lot that’s rarely full. Staff are generally pretty nice too

Great variety of food and grocery though a little bit pricey. Giving 2 stars because I saw a small 'micky' mouse (same place but not in photo) running across the kitchen.

I have had excellent service the past couple of times I’ve been to this location. When I had trouble finding an item, I asked for help and the store manager, Chris, was efficient in getting what I needed. On a separate occasion I asked for help from Corina and she went out of her way to help me. She got her colleague, Ashley, to see if there was any in stock and when there wasn’t, she helped me call another store to see if they had any. They were all very professional and courteous. Thank you for the excellent service and job well done!

The employee called "Simon" at the seafood department is rude and dismissive towards customers. This happened multiple times during the evenings when I try to purchase seafood. It's unfortunate that I always get him. He will be busy in the back talking to his co worker and doing their own things instead of helping the customer during business hours. He will try to avoid the customers in line then come up with excuses to not clean the seafood but only pack it because he's too lazy or not physically fit to do the job. The department needs better management and clear hours of operation instead of the workers acting like they own the place and making up their own rules.

I like the friendly pharmacy staff and most cashiers have been friendly as well. What's great is the amount and variety of international foods they have. It would be nice if there was a little more spacing between people. People clump together in aisles. Social distancing?

Its ok, a little more expensive than some other grocers but on the plus I always find something new & different to try. Awesome fresh bakery & meet/seafood selections

There's were some very cheap stuff and done very much overpriced stuff, typical supermarket, basically a save on because they are owned by the same company

Fantastic place. The man who works at the lottery kiosk inside was wonderful. It was my first time buying lottery tickets and he carefully explained them to me, even recommending me some. I now understand how to play Keno and how draws work. The kiosk was fully compliant with current COVID-19 safety regulations, and the man wore a mask and gloves the entire time.

Other reviews say he is stern and "does not like checking tickets" but that is only because
1) there is often a lineup behind people who want him to manually check the tickets, and if he had to check everyone's tickets, the line would never get shorter. Hence, he reminds customers to use the ticket machine to check themselves, before lining up.
2) @Minyoung Kim - in your review of this location, you state you had "no extra hands" to check your tickets with, but you were still able to line up, and hand him your tickets to check? I was right behind you when this happened, and the man working at the kiosk POLITELY asked you to check your tickets at the machine. As you stood there arguing with him, there were 5 OTHERE CUSTOMERES waiting behind you. Minyoung, you wasted everyone's time, and could have resolved it by simply checking your ticket yourself. Don't remove details from the story to make this kind man sound like a bad person.

Generally speaking, people who write reviews, especially for local places like this grocery store, are on extreme ends of the spectrum - either they had a wonderful time, or a horrendous one. Don't let the 1 star reviews fool you, but don't let the 5 star ones raise you expectations either. Go in with an open mind and make your own opinions.

Once a a Save-on-Foods location, the chain changed its name to Pricemart, and now it caters mainly to the Chinese population in Richmond, which accounts for over half the population that grows everyday. The price is very competitive, the products are fresh, like other Save-on-Foods location, and it is in the center of the city, so this is certainly a good place to shop. Parking can be a nightmare at times, but as long as the peak hours are avoided, one can usually find a spot.

Many Asian food items with occasional special price. Would recommend Asian friends to make a visit.

Store manager there is super helpful. He noticed I left my bank card on teller side and kindly informed me.

Lots of people and lots of traffic. If you have to drive, just be careful of wondering pedestrians. Although lots of parking space, it always full for some reason. There is also a liquor store nearby, so you can get yourself a one stop shopping experience.
Try to avoid weekends as it most likely the parking lot is full.
Quality itself is above average (as the price is compatible to other supermarket in Richmond)
Also, they are one of the few supermarkets has the self checkout that accepts cash. It gives you more cashier counters if you are still using cash only services

Shop and return bottles there. Poor customer service. Refused to take bottles that is not 100% clean.

Huge selection of western and Asian products. Fresh meat and seafood. Always fresh fruit and vegetables. Highly recommend the bakery. I often buy cakes here - they are super fresh and the price is reasonable.
The staff works hard, but language might be a challenge.

You can usually find something or other on sale, I usually come here for cheaper shrimp, prawns and fish alls for my cooking.

Poor customer service at the meat department. We bought the whole rack of spare ribs, but the staff said they can cut "two" cuts only due to special price. After the spare ribs cut, each one is almost 4 inches wide. I asked the caucasian lady if she can cut in half and she said No because is special price.

Good range of F&B products with frequent offers and price drops. Self Check Out facility helps during busy periods.

First time but last time shop in the supermarket.what a bad customer service! Cashier should be trained to be friendly, every customer is coming to buy something and pretty sure we are not coming to fight anyone on purpose just shopping. I lined up the 15 items express of course i counted.how much i had in the basket, as i told the woman i did not exceed that she said nonsense "i saw you keep pulling" and the burnt face of the whole processing. Please indicate that you can only check out 1–3 items.

Such a good selection and they have several exceptional cashiers, such as Ling. I deducted a star because they don't have an effective method to reduce waste (food & bag) in the produce dept

It’s a bit on the pricy side. The produce never looks very good. The staff is rude, and last time I was my cashier accused me of stealing crackers. It was a open box in my stroller that I had for my daughter to snack on. It was clear this wasn’t a new box.

Sea food is pricey. But my home is near by so I shop regularly. Everything is good but the kitchen staff, specifically is a shot lady, she is so rude, her attitude makes you no turning back.

The best mango cake in town!

I recently discovered that Chef Donson at Pricesmart in Richmond makes a delicious mango cake. When I first saw his creation, I was curious about the strange transparent orange orbs on top of the mangos and cream. I decided to buy it for Mother's Day and I'm glad I did. The cake was full of delicious cream, fresh mangos and mango pudding but the orbs really made it special. They are dots of mango juice with a thin layer of gelatin on the outside that burst with flavor in your mouth when you take a bite. I've learned that they take a lot of time and patience to make.

I called the bakery to order the cake again for a birthday the next month. I spoke to Donson, the man who created cake in the first place who told me that he had discontinued the cake but would be happy to make another one specially for me after I explained how much my family had enjoyed it. He even managed to do it as a same day order!

I am very impressed with the quality and timeliness of the service I was provided. I never expected to find such an excellent cake at Pricesmart!
