I would give negative stars if I could. I strongly recommend AGAINST anyone from seeing Dr Xinyang Huang. My experience with him made me wonder why he even became a doctor.

He stood far away in the clinic room with his hands clasped tightly in front of him like he was protecting himself from me, as though I was some kind of biohazard. His body language and tone were immediately dismissive. Made no efforts to examine me but immediately started gaslight me by telling me that my symptoms couldn’t possibly be related to my injury and there’s no way I could be experiencing what I was experiencing.

Turns out I have a concussion - which he had dismissed despite now I have multiple confirmations from other doctors that I do.

Dr Huang needs to take a strong look at why he’s in the medical profession. All the other reviews here are accurate. He does not care about you as a patient and will just try to rush you out the door as quickly as possible without trying to help you at all. I will be looking into filing a formal complaint about his lack of care to the BC doctors board and others who have had terrible experiences where his dismissive attitude should do considering filing complaints as well.

Very rude receptionist and they don’t help until you die. It’s all in air for them. Been 3 weeks calling still no physician? Cannot book an appointment? Cannot come to office? Cannot reach doctor? What can we do here?

I went to this clinic on Saturday I had a very swollen throat and trouble breathing the doctor didn’t seem too concerned about my health issues and gave me a swab and didn’t prescribe any medications he simply told me to take Advil which I had been doing with no better results hence why I came into the clinic. About 7 hours later I had to be rushed to Burnaby hospital as soon as I walked in they rushed me to the emergency room and gave me two IVs. I sat there for 6 hours and was prescribed t3s, antibiotics and a steroid. Now I can breathe and eat moderately better I thought that clinics were suppose to help the patient apposed to taking up space at the hospitals I think the doctor was at the end of his day and didn’t care about my health issues or my request for meds for my severe pain and swelling. I wish to file a complaint on my visit as my was a very serious matter involving my breathing.

I do not like to post or review anything about doctors as I respect this profession a lot. But a newly graduate doctor, Dr. Xinyang Huang really shows no care and lack of knowledge and experience towards his patients. He stood far far away from the patients with a mask and a shield. He did not do a thorough check up nor ask any basic questions about the patient’s symptoms. When he was asked about the medication, he was hesitated, couldn’t give me any confirmed or detailed answers or just cockily gave me a quick answer (which was totally incorrect after checking with my family doctor)
I would advise patients to see other doctors. I would also suggest Dr. Huang to be guided or mentored by other doctors if he is considering to work in this field for long term. Patients do need to be treated properly with care.
Thank you to the other doctors and front staff.

I do not usually post or review anything, but my experience with Dr. Xinyang Huang was unpleasant and somewhat stressful. He does not seem to care about a patient, rude, and very cocky. I was in pain and walked away with no help at all. The whole appointment lasted for about 3 minutes maximum. He might be knowledgeable at what he does, but he does not seem to shine when it comes to communicating with people. Maybe it will take years for him to become more comfortable and patient with his patients, but I would advice other patients to avoid seeing him at all costs. Thanks to the front staff for accommodating tho.

Over 5 years of PrimeCare on Edmonds being my main clinic. Went from visits to the walk-in clinic to appointments at the family doctor side.
I did walk-ins mostly before Covid. We've only done 2 or 3 walk-ins over the past year. Don't remember them specifically because they went fine.

The front desk staff have been curt in the past but not actually rude. Fair, they're only human. I can't recall having any issues with them. Sometimes it takes a while to call in, but I understand they're busy. I don't even know their full work load-I only know the receptionist part of medical front desks.

My family has made several appointments with PrimeCare. When we have concerns, general health checks, regular checkups (reoccurring appointments for long term issues). Sometimes they call us to book, they leave voice messages if I miss their calls.

My concerns are always taken seriously, I'm fully informed of any possibilities (causes, treatment options) -if it might require specified knowledge then he refers me accordingly.

We have never felt that the service was lacking.
I feel that if you are kind, then kindness is returned. Care for those who take care of you.

I have great respect for those who attempt to care for hundreds and those that serve dozens of individuals a day.

There is a great amount of negative reviews that are unjust-not only here but for all medical institutions.

The Canadian health care system has been in crisis. There's shortage of healthcare professionals, burnout, funding issues, everything is severe.

The issues are not the staffs fault, it is the governments for not addressing issues with the system.

Think about it mathematically.
If we go purely off statistics from 2019, BC primary physicians saw 120 on average per week. 24 patients a day.

If we round it down to 20 patients a day, 20 minutes each. (15 minutes with the patient, 5 for paperwork.) Total 6.5 hours of appointments. If they take two 15 minute breaks, 30 minutes lunch, that's a 7.5 hour work day.

This assumes every patient strictly adheres to the timeline and all appointment related work takes 5 minutes max.

People usually aren't exactly on time, even if they're not late. 2 or 3 minutes because of forgetting something. 1 minute of the phone ringing before picking it up.

Appointments are not always 15 minutes. It's more likely for an appointment to take longer than for it to end early. (diagnose, figure out treatment option/s, explain both, answer other questions.)

The longer people take for appointments, the later the doctor is for the rest of their patients.

I'm pretty sure it takes longer than 5 minutes to; go over patient information before the appointment, log/update medical notes, send prescriptions (or relay info and delegate tasks to front desk.)

Again, the math breakdown is based below the average statistics before covid.

It's a gross underestimation, the old statistics are already crazy by themselves. If a doctor took 24 patients-max 20 minute appointments that all magically start and end exactly on time-and the legally mandated 30 minute lunch break, that's already a 8.5 hour work day.

I understand this is why it only gets busier.

The system is at fault, not the staff.

I have been coming here for almost a year now. After attending the walk-in clinic so many times I became a family patient of Dr. Andrew Wong. Me and my husband both are seen by him from time to time. I have continuous appointments for health issues, I've never respected a doctor so much before. The walk-in clinic does have wait times that get a tad lengthy if you don't come in first thing in the morning, though they're always busy so it's understandable. I'm surprised they take in as many patients as they do when they only have 2 doctors on holidays. While I book appointments for Dr. Wong it's been absolutely a dream. I've been recovering so well and Dr. Andrew Wong has been the best doctor I've ever had. He is kind, caring, and more than thorough, he knows what he's doing. I respect him a great deal.

The worst customer service, the person who is taking the calls is rude. I don’t recommend this place
I called in 9th of Feb at 10am
25 February 2023 11:17
My Dr. Is great. Always on time and goes above and beyond to take care of my health. Really happy with this clinic.
08 February 2023 6:57
Today I had very very bad experience with the receptionist on Saturday Jan 21. I called 3 times and she is put me on hold then saying she can't hear me and rudly hang up. This hapen with same girl in past saying she can't hear and hang up. This is really disrespectful and annoying.
02 February 2023 13:14
So I called at 7: 41 am and the message was they had already reached their capacity. I thought they start accepting calls at 7: 45? No matter how early i call the message is they have reached their capacity.
31 January 2023 10:36
I'm surprised this place has such a low rating! I've been going here for a couple years and I've never once had a bad experience or been treated rudely. You have to be early to get in due to there client limits but as long as you call before 8am, you will get in. The doctors have always been really helpful and always follow up afterwards. You just have to be upfront about what you would like them to do and they will provide it. They even got me in during the evening in the urgent care when they were booked up one time. They obviously have limits as a walk in but if you need general testing there good for referrals and check ups!
30 January 2023 16:21
In ten years I have never been able to get an appointment at this useless clinic. Why does it even exist?
17 December 2022 18:34
I came to the walk in clinic and they say they just doing virtual and it was bad because I came around 7: 20 to register at 7: 45 they told me I’m phone the doctor just have Advil and rest that’s it. They don’t even care if your sick or no.
20 October 2022 3:44
I wouldn't even give this place one star. I've been on hold for 30 minutes. Tried multiple times a day, still didn't answer and with my throat sore as hell I waited for a call back but nothing came. Just a few years ago this place was okay now it turned into some kind of joke.
13 October 2022 17:30
Okay. First off. The website does say walk ins. They do not take walk ins. To do walk in. You need to call between 7: 45-8 am. For same day they don’t allow booking in advance but from what I can tell they are always full

Secondly. The Asian receptionist is super nice polite and patient. Now I read a lot of reviews where they all say otherwise. But I was sick. So. Whatever I came here anyways and the clinic is super small but the lady was nice.

Suggested if I’m coughing up blood, I need to go to ER not walk in clinics. I had hopped to skip waiting 3 hours at the hospital.

This clinic also posts they don’t prescribe any of the typical meds. Like. Cough syrup. Sleeping pills. And a whole list of other things. Pretty standard stuff. Cough syrup. But yeah. If you need doc for a scrape or referral to somewhere they should be good for this. But if you need prescriptions. This clinic doesn’t look like they are willing to write any of the usual scripts.
05 October 2022 20:05
Clinic front office staff were great DR was absolutely awful!

I came in with a finger infection in its early stages. DR refused to acknowledge it, and was extremely dismissive. I now have a late stage finger infection that is threatening complications as I didn’t start the antibiotics course early enough.

Real shame when medical professionals prefer to make you feel like a nuisance instead of a patient.
04 July 2022 11:29
I've been here a few times and I have to say it's a miserable experience. Trying to book an appointment is a hassle because they will only do phone appointments and you NEED to call at 8am when they open (even then they don't answer for the first half hour and their phone system loops) On top of that Dr. Huang is just a terrible listener. Diagnosed me with gout after telling him I had pain in my right toe. Didn't ask me about my diet, age or other risk factors and prescribed me anti-inflammatories. Spoke to another doctor, turns out it was just a sprain. I get that being a doctor is hard but maybe due a little more due diligence before prescribing medication.
02 June 2022 5:35
I was at the clinic last monday and so far I'm waiting for you to send the prescription to the pharmacy. I am very disappointed with the neglect you are doing with my health.on thursday i spoke with dr. I complained about my pain and he said again about sending the prescription to the high gate pharmacy and so far he hasn't sent it. I have a bacterium inside me, I am in pain and you are ignoring my clinical situation.
29 May 2022 14:31
Called and waited for over 10minutes, the woman who picked up ask for my health number with an unpatient tone, as i am reading my number she said “wait a second” and immediately place me on waiting again. I did not continue to wait after another 5 minutes.
18 May 2022 8:18
Incredibly disappointed. As a common problem that most people have in the lower mainland it's increasingly harder to acquire a family doctor. I explained what I was diagnosed from a different clinic. I wouldn't be contacting this clinic if I could get into the other clinic that also only allows people who have a family doctor now. So the doctor I spoke with at prime care medical said to go back to that other clinic, and that he says my symptoms don't describe what I've been diagnosed with. As a walk in clinic I'd be cautious here. You'll likely only waste your time as I have.
29 April 2022 17:31
A Walk in clinic that doesn't accept walk ins.or allow you to book an appointment unless it's on the same day.

Also won't allow me to bring up more than one medical issue at a time.
23 April 2022 20:36
I called around 1: 15pm to this clinic to get some test done. One of the receptionist told me to come 2 pm to get my urine sample. When I get there I was standing like they dont see nothing which there’s literally no one in the waiting area except me. After they took my urine sample I heard one of the lady that I spoke with on the phone to her colleagues lf she knows booking me in on that day and her colleagues said “had no idea” and she keeps giggling. I just literally talked to her and was told to come ASAP. However the doctor phoned me after a week very knowledgeable, very straightforward on the details and guide me step by step but the second doctor seems like out of the place and doesnt know about my case. After 3 weeks I phone them but the lady told me to call tomorrow morning because theyre fully book of the day. I called the day after in the morning and all I got is the same thing call again and hang up right away! Not coming back here anymore lack of professionalism and communication.
20 April 2022 15:51
Terrible, absolutely terrible. Waste of time, no communication amongst the staff. They are not consistent with any of the information they give and they contradict any prior information. They tell you one thing and then when you ask for an update they tell you another thing. The only reason I come here is because it is close to me, otherwise avoid this place at all costs.
15 April 2022 1:10
Couldn’t get in with my family doctor soon enough so I called this clinic and they got me in for a same day appointment. Checked in with receptionist and they put me in an exam room immediately even though I was a little early to my appointment. Quick and efficient service, didn’t need to wait long at all, doctor came in to see me at my appointment time and fixed my issue within minutes.
09 March 2022 7:56
Called to make an appointment for next days, a lady aswered after 10 minutes and just said WE HAVE NOTHING FOR TODAY, OKAY? THANK YOU and hung up.she doesnt even wait for me to ask a question about prices or make an appointment for another day
21 February 2022 11:46
Bad service. I wish I could give zero. The male doctor whose surname is Huang knows nothing about medical science. I told him all the symptoms I had and he said he did not know what that is and asked me to take pain medicine. Is that a qualified doctor?
17 February 2022 22:40
The receptionist is very rude. Judging from her accent she must be Filipino. She hang up on me she does not listen when talking.
17 February 2022 5:47
Consistently hour long hold times when calling only to be told "no appointments today".
29 January 2022 0:50
Worst receptionist! It is so rude! When I was trying to make an appointment she kept me on hold and then picked up the phone for a moment to tell me “this is silly”, and sent on hold again.
27 December 2021 6:02
I just call to ask info and the receptionist was so rude. She doesn’t give me any info and told me to call any day at 7: 30 am
09 December 2021 19:54
Just called to make an appointment and was informed nonchalantly that appointments that are doctor's calling that aren't answered come with a $50 charge to patient. The last time the clinic called me if was outside of the agreed to calling window.so I find it absolutely wild this clinic would still have a policy to charge patients if they can't even keep to their timings. This unnecessary profiteering from patients during a pandemic feels crass at best. Won't be back.
30 November 2021 16:03
They never have a doctor on site. Called them last week and was told that there will be no doctor on Thursday and Friday. Called them again on Monday and was told that there will be no doctor here on Mon and Tues. What's the point of opening on those days then?
25 November 2021 15:02
I went to this clinic today because I have an ear infection, a fairly bad one involving some blood, I really needed some help. There were no other patients but four extremely unprofessional staff much more interested in chatting together than helping a patient. When I could finally speak with one of them she was subtly hostile, disrespectful and used several weird excuses making it more and more difficult to see a doctor until I finally just gave up and left. They are not honest, nor communicate well and directly. Really weird place and unfriendly to say the least. Never go here if you need help with a medical issue, they don't seem to care. Worst walk-in in Burnaby.
23 November 2021 9:09
Called PrimeCare on Friday at about 10: 45am and surprisingly got a virtual (phone) appointment at 11: 30am (That was quick!) Dr Chen called and very meticulously investigated my 93-year old mom’s condition and give what we felt was good advice. Advised us to call again for an in-person appointment to make sure my Mom’s lungs are clear but reminded us to get a COVID test first (which we already did 2 hours prior). She even told us she’ll ask the secretary to call us so nobody would forget about this need for in-person follow up. This is so attentive and professional. That evening our Covid tests came out negative and we tried to book an in-person visit. Strangely we were directed to the Edmonds UPCC which shares some facilities with PrimeCare. We went told there are any appointments available until Monday but again surprisingly we got a call that an appointment was available Sunday 3: 20pm. This is the 5-star part up till this point. The 3-star part follows: (to be added later)
16 November 2021 15:21
Worst place to go tryed to make an appointment and gets booked so fast even when they till you to call ealry in the morning and still gets booked ill recommend other place but this one
16 April 2019 22:00
The funny thing about this clinic if patients need to use the clinic washroom must leave a photo ID to get the washroom key lol.
10 April 2019 13:21
Terrible office, and absolutely rude and inconsiderate staff (especially the front desk staff).

Charging me for forms, in which aren't supposed to be charged to the employee and refusal to let me leave without paying.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
11 January 2019 16:23
Clean. Doctors listen and are patient. Not a 5star just due to reception. It seems no matter who is there they are very unfriendly.
