QV Cafe & Bakery

Good food and service.
The washroom was sketchy dirty with no soap in the dispenser and an empty bottle by the sink. Our table and the surrounding empty tables either had food dried on them or had been smeared around with a dirty cloth. My mantra is if you want to know the cleanliness of the kitchen, take a look at the washroom. Even though the food was good, I wouldn't eat at QV again.

Cheesecake was the highlight of my year in terms of desserts. They have such a great selection of desserts and they are open later than most places! It's fun to go for dinner, walk around victoria, and end the night sharing a cheesecake or dessert square

Horrible experience, I was looking at the dessert. A girl from street, visibly on drugs was in front of me she asked me if I had change. So he told me if I was ordering to jus go to til. Another girl ended up walking up to til so he took her first. He clearly knew I was there before her. He served her first he knew I was there first. He discriminated against me because of the homeless, street girl. I have never been more humiliated in my life I asked his name he sour faced said he did not have to give it to me. I have a full time professional job, nice car and was treated like street trash. He was incredibly rude while servicing the homeless girl as well. I will never come here again and I can see the way they treat the people in the community that are in need. Absolutely disgusting, I had some choice words for him. The fact he knew I was there prior was absolutely and yet served the other woman who just walked up was so rude. I guess the fact I was by the homeless girl giving change I was a issue, and the lady that just walked up that he served first when I was there first was of the same decent as him. I will write my review everywhere. You would think them being in the downtown core they would not discriminate. If I could give a zero I would. I had been here many times over the years and have never been treated this way. People at the local 7 eleven treat people better than they do here. I was so mad about him serving someone that was clearly here after me as horribly rude. He literally told me if I was ready go to counter the woman had not been there before and he knew it because the homeless lady said I was next he did not take kindly to her that. He already knew that, most unfriendly man I ever met and clearly rude to me because of the homeless lady.

Their cheesecakes are sub-standard! Not worth it. We got a Tiramisu Cheesecake which was bearable and an Oreo Cheesecake which was pathetic! Threw both away

Everything was great until the slice of cake I picked was to my eyes the last one only to see them cut in half and give me half. Was then smaller than the regular ones. This is not 7$ worth.

Great selection of cheesecakes! It's one of the cafes/bakeries that stays open later which is nice since so many cafes close early in Victoria.

A post dinner favourite for us. A good selection of desserts. Pricing has increased considerably; it was oddly low but it is now what you would expect these days.

Stopped in for lunch and had a sausage roll and the English Clam Chowder, and both were fantastic. Amazing selection for desserts as well. Nice atmosphere wasn't too busy, friendly staff too.

Used to be one of my favorite places to get breakfast before cosmetology school doorene was always so great welcoming remembered my name and order its not the same as it used to be but still an ok place

This place never changes and I am surprised it is still standing. Eat some cheesecake here then go walk through the small area called Chinatown. You won't regret the outing.

The onion rings were some of the most disgusting things I have ever eaten, they were way over-battered, not fried long enough, and tasted like they had been fried in fish oil. The rest of the meal wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either.

I decided to buy an Everest Cake for a birthday party. I gave them good notice and asked for very simple instructions. Name. Colour icing. Big.
Make it big.

I show up and the cake is 30lbs. I live 100 feet away and lift weights. I had to take a break half way home! They gave it to me in a giant pasta box because it was to for thy to fit any other container; when I had it craned into my place, it walked across the house and turned my fridge over and said “this is mine now”. I then returned from gift shopping with a goat and candles to make a blood offering to please this cakes ego. It lunged out of my fridge shaking the entire building with its heavy steps, this friendly giant then lifted me onto its chocolate shoulders and carried me to the party. I had to chain it in the basement like King Kong while the festivities got started. Periodically feeding it smaller, lesser cakes to appease its hunger.
This cake was so big, when I brought it out 30 people forgot how to sing happy birthday. A child started to cry because he didn’t think we could all eat it. Not even children dream of cakes this big. We reinforced the picnic table with steel beams so we could have a safe landing spot for this continental sized asteroid of a cake.
We brought out swords to cut it but gave up and used a chainsaw in the end. And while we took pieces from it, it would laugh and taunt us for how small we were compared to its enormous chocolate covered Godzilla body! And it was delicious.

14$ for a milkshake and a slice of pie, so it's a bit on the pricey side. Got a slice of banana cream pie and the cream on top was kinda salty but edible. The custard in the pie however just tasted like uncooked flour. And they tried to charge me twice for the pie, until I mentioned again I had already paid and I was just wondering were it was.

Service was quite poor. They completely messed up a few of our orders and were difficult in resolving their mistakes

The food is delicious but the menu online or printed in store needs some more information and clarification as far as pricing goes. The staff were helpful and eventually sorted it out but price should just be listed

Was waiting at the counter to order a coffee as the employees were making a dri k for another person. After they were done they completely ignored me and just walked into the back. When they didn't come back out for roughly 10 minutes, I just left.

Extremely poor service.

Shout out to QV for having giant slices of chocolate cake available for delivery because that's how I'm coping with coming up on 3 years of pandemic life. Their veggie lasagna is good too, I guess.

The mountain chocolate cake that I ordered was hard. I was craving for sweet, so I don’t regret eating that.

Fantastic place with the world's best peanut butter cookie sandwiches that they NEVER have in stock anymore. Either way, everything else is awesome!

The most wonderful cheesecake in town! So many different flavours to choose from and at a great price. Always a favourite for a quick stop by on weekends for a sweet treat.

Great simple breakfast spot. No frills service. Order at the till and pick a table. Great menu for breakfast and great patio.

They have pretty nice customer service! But don’t EVER ORDER the chai latte! It was not freshly made! It was store bought chai latte! And they just added some milk in there! For that amount of money I paid I could of just bought myself that Nd make it at home!

Cheesecake had good options was ok for taste. Overall experience wasn't very friendly to us won't be back

I ordered chocolate cupcake and nanimo cake but with both disappointed!
They were as hard as rock and were hard to eat rather to cut. Also in chocolate cup cake there white things which from my perspective as a former baker, it was yeast! God knows how long they were there. I am not local to Victoria but if i come back I won’t go there and don’t recommend this place to anyone.

Good prices and excellent service and food is good.
I also find the portion more than enough.

I have given this place so many chances and have been disappointed almost every time. About a year ago I went there and asked for the veggie burrito.got it home to take a bite into it to find out it had chicken in it. The next time I went, I got a veggie burrito and took one bite and there was this awful, earthy taste. I opened it up to find the rice was FULL of mold. I told myself I would never go back after this, but today I was hungry and in the area so decided to give it another shot as it had been over a year since my last visit. This time I got another veggie burrito (I really should have known, I know) and the rice inside was CRUNCHY and uncooked. I also got a banana and chocolate muffin and it tasted only partially cooked as well. Definitely my last visit here. I honestly have never written a bad review, but it's almost comical how many bad experiences I have had here with their food. It's a shame because I used to really enjoy their cheesecakes and desserts, but I can not give my business to this place anymore.: (

QV Cafe is one of my top favourite cafés in Victoria. I definitely reccomend trying their breakfast menu and their iced mochas!

Very good but expensive if you're looking to go cheap then be prepared to spend 20$ for a few snack desert type items and a milkshake is close tov10$

We got the Peanut Butter Chocolate cheesecake and the Truffle Turtle cheesecake, along with two large coffees. The cheesecakes were really well made, moist, creamy, and the taste was on point. Albeit, a bit too sweet for us, but finished nevertheless.
On the other hand, the coffees were large, one with milk and the other with oat milk, felt very watered down - you barely got any taste of coffee.

The QV is always a great place to relax, watch the birds and people fly in and out and have a tasty snack and great coffee exceptional place

Had the white clam chowder, as good as any I've had in the world! Sandra the baker, and her staff are all wonderful. Highly recommend this spot for breakfast, lunch, cakes and pastries.

Great prices, lots of food options, super chill, free jukebox, great patio. Best you can do for location.

Staff here are super amazing people, they have fantastic customer service and always make the orders in good time and at amazing quality!
i would definitely recommend stopping by if you like deserts, milkshakes, burgers, really anything.its such a cute place to go for a date too! Every time me and my girlfriend go down we have an amazing time!

The best thing I can say about this place is the good atmosphere. The free-use jukebox and homely environment is nice. That being said, the food here is old and dried out, neither myself, nor my friends could finish their orders. It lacks flavor that they try to replace with sugar and icing. The whipped cream on top of my chai cheese cake was so dried out that I could lift it off in one piece, and when tapping it to my plate, I was rewarded with the delicious noise of a solid thunk. Instead of a soft, creamy whipped cream, they have a dried out dollop of old topping. For the most part the staff is friendly, barring one member that, when I asked a simple question regarding portion sizing, she let out a huge sigh, turned her back on me, and when she returned, she began to complain about how people had been asking her questions her entire shift. As though it is'nt her job.
All in all, its a nice place to look at, and the drinks are good. But the staff need better training in customer service, and the food definitely needs to be looked at.
I will not be returning for some time.

If the only merit of a restaurant was the food, I'd consider five stars. BUT when the staff say they will bring out your order and you have to remind them not once, but twice that you're waiting on your meal, it's poor service. And let me tell you how embarrassing it is for EVERY customer to ask how the lock works on the washroom; fix your damn lock. Spanish pie was spicy good, lasagna was delicious and apple pie was great. Based on poor performers like this, I'm not inclined to tip at the counter, and reserve my judgement until I finish my meal. Gratuities should be earned, not a de facto assumption!

Great spot! People must underestimate this place. Line ups down the block for other brunch places. Lots of room at the QV. Awesome food!

Mt. Everest choc cake for afternoon snack was.wonderful.we stop here often when in Victoria. Best ever cheesecakes as well!

Solid 4.5 stars. This type of place is the best for group eating. Prepared meals means they may not be the freshest ever, but the variety available (and at really reasonable prices) made it easy to order for a crowd. Free jukebox is a fun perk. Food was all really good, but not exceptional.

Delicious food super friendly staff could not do more to help me and my group. Was very happy to accommodate my group of 10.

Wonderful, tasty wares that are vegan-friendly. However, they are not bashful about charging for it.

Comfortable place to sit with family. Tried chicken pot pie. Tasted good but small portion for the price. The Burritos and veg lasagna were quite bland. The dips need more flavour too. Found the place just okay for a casual bite.

Very Affordable for everyone, large menu, perfect for board game nights or a late night snack or dinner. Cheese Cake is amazing, best in the city without spending 30+ at 5.75$ for a decent size too. They have GF menu without extra cost. This is my favorite place to go on my Lunch breaks when I am in the Area. Its not a Fancy place, but the people are nice and food affordable for low income & working class people.

Had BF there, patotoes werent even cooked, it was like they didn't even try. Staff was very friendly

It's a little cold in there this time of year but everything is priced very well and it's open later than most coffee shops!

This was the worst food ever. The salad was brown and should have thrown out days ago and the tuna sandwich tasted and smelt funny. Needless to say it was a total waste of money as none of it was edible.

What can I say. I absolutely love the food here. The staff is very friendly and are more than patient with me. It seemed I could not decide what to eat from all the great selections. I went with the carrot cake and also enjoyed a nice not so healthy milk shake. The prices are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place.

Dessert and coffee are great. The regular food is not good. You don't microwave sausage rolls, spanokapita, or a calzone. Please reheat these items in an oven or toaster oven. The salad and half sandwich was not even edible, the lettuce was rusty, tomatoes were soggy and the tuna in the sandwich smelled bad. We brought guests from out of town here, so we're disappointed.

Good cafe with reasonably priced food in a central area. Plenty of seating, lots of natural light, a jukebox. They have a good variety of meal foods, desserts, and drinks.

This is two part review. For coffee and dessert at a diner I would rate 5. After many dissert visits we went for lunch. Ouch food was terrible. So dissert yes but meals no.

Good desserts. Table and chairs only so no place to get real comfy for a chat. Washrooms need a key.

The have a really good selection of cakes and beverages. The staff is also very nice. The cake slices are very large as you can see in the photo – I could not finish that cake with a friend. I also got a vanilla milkshake and I really do not recommend it. It tasted like just cold iced milk. It was like $5 and I threw it out. The cake was not the best I had but it was good, and it was a very good price for the size. The place is cute, and it is in Chinatown in Victoria so if it’s your first time here go to Fantan alley. It is only like a 5-minute walk, if that. My friend got fries and a carrot cake and both of those were very good. The fries come with a chipotle mayo sauce and ketchup. She also really did not like the milkshake. However, the other flavours might be better. They had chocolate and strawberry. The place was not that well decorated, but it was cozy. I would probably come back again if I lived in Victoria but I doubt I will be back soon. I would give it a try if it’s my first time.
