R + D Kitchen by White Spot

One of my favourites! Always great service, and the endless fries and slushy bellinis is always my go to.

Food was below the quality of other white spot locations. Got the fish and chips, Fries were slightly stale and fish was overly oily. Fish portion was large which was nice.

Service was also below expectations. 25-30 mins wait after ordering is a little bit longer than usual. Servers did not ask how the food was or stop by to refill our water during the whole meal. We had to flag him down to ask for the bill at the end.

Overall below average experience. Some room for improvement here.

Great host, server was very helpful however the kitchen struggled to cook a medium rare steak. Apps were decent!

Service is very slow which understandable since it’s busy long weekend.
We ordered 3 entrees upgraded meal with yam fries and good with pay extra.
We asked yam fries and fries refill. Our waitress didn’t mention yam fries not able to refill. When the bill come they charged it extra $9 on top with extra fee for upgrade. After speak with general manager (name start with J) he didn’t do anything about it. Overall customer services not meet the standard. We will not go back.

As the name says this is the research and development kitchen for white spot. They have some classics on the menu but also some new and unique items. The truffle mushroom burger was fantastic. I hope they bring this to more restaurants. The service was great and staff were friendly.

Underwhelming. Wildberry bellini tasted like frozen robitussin. Staff were nice and place is modern but food was just okay.

I know you’re supposed to order a burger but i ordered fish and chips instead. As you can tell from the picture, it was super brown and a little over cooked unfortunately. We also had the waygu burger but to me it’s just like a normal burger. The margarita was overly sweet. Server was super nice tho!

Easy online ordering. When I arrived home, was disappointed that they forgot to include the coleslaws with our meals. Called the restaurant and spoke to the Manager. They quickly rectified their error and offered to make it right for our next visit. Highly recommend the black truffle cheese mushroom burger and the Louisiana fried chicken burger!

Food is good, service is the thing that's lacking, however. I have been a few times, sometimes during busy hours, sometimes during super quiet hours. I thought I'd be served quicker during the super quiet hours but it actually took longer. All that would be needed would be to improve the service to improve the review.

I was very disappointed.
First I tryed to pay with cash. The cashier made a mistake and couldn't give me my change. I had to wait another 10 minutes while the cashier cashed out.
I ordered the drumsticks. For $14.70 I got 3 tiny drumsticks and not much else. This is way too expensive for take-up. This is a rip-off.

Worth a try. Items are a little outside of your standard White spot menu but not too "outside".

We had high hopes for R & D white spot. Surprisingly not busy at all on a saturday. Very nice eatery tucked in the back of the west wing of the Tables food court. Service was friendly but wait times for food & desserts were unacceptable. Fruit served with entrees and lemon slice accompanying the tea should not have been served (the lemon slice was borderline rotten and the grapefruit & orange slices were rubbery/dry and obviously leftover from the previous day). Many complaints regarding the Louisiana chicken burger - chicken was dry from overfrying, over breaded, meat to bun ratio was 50%. Pan roasted potatoes were tasty. Strawberry mousse dessert was ok but it was not a mousse as it had a yogurt texture. Overall we wouldn't go out of our way to return but with their ever changing menu we may check it out again.

Food is good. But the staff is really what makes this place good to go too very friendly and above and beyond service.

Overall a big MEH. Nothing special about the R+D only food. Atmosphere is weird as it's right off the food court. Prefer going to a regular white spot.

Good burgers, good service, except their chicken burgers were not as good as their beef burgers. Pricing seems about right.

If you like white spot, you'll love it here! It's a relatively new space and it has interesting new menu items! Service meets all expectations.

Ordered a wagyu burger combo with a classic poutine. After 10 mins later when I went to check my order, the server informed me that they are out of gravy. They should’ve informed me earlier. I checked their review and same thing happened few days ago.

The food was out after 30 mins of waiting. The patty and the bacon were cold and the cheese was not even melted. The fries had too much salt. If you see the photo, you can see the quality of food. It was definitely not worth $20. Hope they can improve the service and food quality.

The clam chowder is tomato based and our server kindly let us know in case expectations don't meet.

Very clean nice place. Love the seating! We loved the staff Kevin and Sharlot where so nice and laughed with us a bit!

Food was ok, needed salt (I'm from the US so you know). We tried the Benedict, clam soup, and fettuccine (the chicken was seasoned well).

Probably won't come back but enjoyed.

We went here for dinner, expecting it to be like White Spot, but better. I hate to leave a bad review because I know the restaurant industry is not easy, and I'm not one to complain about food quality or even service (I know it's hard to find workers right now, and I know they are often not treated well). But we left this restaurant in shock at how awful it was.

Please do yourself a favour and skip this place - everything about it was so bad!

The food was not good.at all. We actually sent back the margarita pizza because we were shocked at how terrible it was (7 Eleven pizza would have been better). When we sent it back, the server agreed that it was horrible and admitted that he should have warned us about it.

Throughout the rest of the evening, there was essentially no service. Anytime we wanted something, we had to hunt down the server.if we asked for something (e.g. More fries) we were left to wonder if he heard us and put in the order, or just forgot? At one point we wondered if he was doubling as the chef because it was taking SO long for our food to come out and he barely came to the table at all. I don't want to come down on a young server (likely a student, nice kid but serving seems to be a poor fit for him) but it was clear that there is absolutely no training at this location, and no concern about customer service. It also wasn't the case that the restaurant was understaffed because a) there were maybe, two other tables with patrons in the entire restaurant and b) we often saw our server sitting down and chatting with other servers, or he was on his phone, sitting with the person who I presume was the manager. Seems like management just does not care about how the restaurant is run.at all.

The icing on the cake was the fact that the bill just never came.because our server was MIA. We probably waited for about 25 or so minutes until we finally saw our server cleaning up behind the bar, so we went up to HIM to ask for the bill. He brought it to us.with the pizza on the bill. I politely asked him to remove that item since we sent it back without finishing it, and his response was that he had to check with his manager but that it may not be possible. Thankfully, they ended up removing that item from the bill.

After we left, I spoke to others who had been there and they too agreed that this restaurant is awful and nobody could understand how it was still in business. I wish I had spoken to them earlier!

I'm surprised this place has any good reviews. They do not care about their patrons. Save your time and money and eat at the food court restaurants at Brentwood (they are actually good!). And yes, we still tipped for service.

I’ve always liked Whitespot Restaurants so I was excited to dine here. I have come here 4 times and have been disappointed everytime by the service. Everytime I receive my meal the fries are cold and the wait is abnormally long. The last time I was seated near the kitchen and could see why, they always make the fries first and leave them sitting out until your entire table’s meals are ready. I saw our fries sitting out for 20mins so of course they were limp and cool by the time the meals came. The servers are either inexperienced or extremely short staffed because they rarely come to the tables to check up and make excuses for all the mistakes. I ordered a side of gravy that wasn’t brought with my meal and the server claimed it takes awhile to heat gravy up so it will come out later, but he brought a poutine to the table at the same time as my order that had gravy in it. After finishing my meal the gravy still hadn’t arrived. The kitchen staff have screwed up our orders and take extremely long to make the dishes compared to every other Whitespot I’ve been to. I have given this place 4 chances to prove itself and they have been disappointing everytime. I think they are trying to save costs by running a min staff and minimal training. I have seen many other customers complaining about the same things everytime I am there too. I hope that the company can improve this location or try the R&D concept somewhere else with a better managed team.

Odd spot for this. The food doesn’t compare with the other options in the food court. Most of the things they have are better and or cheaper to get from other spots.

Purchased a Christmas turkey dinner for two. Cost $60 and the serving sizes were pitiful. Can’t recommend trusting this place with the meal for your important occasions

I came in for a quick afternoon snack. Ordered Poutine, Paid, waited for 5 minutes, then was told they ran out of gravy… had to waited another 10 minutes to get refund… don’t come back, obviously they don’t know how to run the kitchen.
