Highly recommend Edgar from RainCity Driving School as an instructor. Patient, on time, knowledgeable, and great at communicating. You can count on him to be honest about your skills, and I appreciate that he gives you room to learn from your own mistakes. I couldn't believe my own progress over the course of my lessons.

I passed my exam with no mistakes (something that I didn't think would happen) and I attribute my success wholly to Edgar's guidance. If you need driving lessons, choosing RainCity Driving School is a no brainer.

We moved from the island and wanted our daughter to learn how to drive in the city from an expert. We are so pleased we chose Rain City Driving School! They were great at communication and very flexible in their scheduling. Doel was an excellent instructor who taught our daughter everything she needed to know to safely drive in the city. He was very patient and knowledgeable and had great tips for parking. It was wonderful to see our daughter grow in her confidence on the road after each lesson. Doel did a great job preparing her for the road test and she passed on her first try! We will definitely be choosing Raincity Driving School again when our other two kids are driving age. Attending Raincity driving school has probably been the best choice that I could have ever made! I was to take my class 5 license and I wanted to increase my chances if passing my road test so I chose this school
among many other options as I particularly liked the way Roanne made it so convenient to make bookings on top of being very professional and likeable. Among the instructors, Gene has been the one I spent most of the sessions and has helped me a lot to gain confidence in driving. Edgar has given me very useful tips on top of my confidence and Rain has been extremely helpful for the session preceding my road test. All of the instructors there were extremely patient and helpful and each of them gave me very useful tips to help me gain a lot of confidence in driving on big and busy roads (where I come from, we do not have such roads) and to pass my road test with success. This school is really worth the price you pay for it and if you are not confident like I was to drive in BC roads, Raincity is definitely the place to go to!

I am a panic driver. Rain has all his patience and guided me through to pass the road test. I am sure he can get anyone to pass the test with his thorough and experienced driving techniques. I am so glad to have him as my instructor.

I went to Raincity driving school in a pinch with my driving test in a couple weeks. The instructors were patient, informative and practical in their teaching style. They were able to help me to successfully pass on the first try. I would definitely recommend new drivers going here.

After 9 hours of driving lessons with Edgar, my son passed his driving test for Class 7 license (N) for his first try. 5 years ago I also got my N license for my first try after my lessons with Kuya Ed. Roan is considerate and accommodating too. Once again Rain City Driving School proves that it is one of the best driving school in Metro Vancouver!

Highly recommend RainCity Driving School! They were able to squeeze in my desired driving package before my road test even though they had a jam packed schedule. Roanne was quick and easy to communicate any changes to driving schedules. My instructors were Gene and Edgar. Gene is great at nailing down good driving habits by sharing his simple processes for safe driving. Edgar is incredibly knowledgeable and approachable with any driving question. He will boost your confidence in driving safely in any situation. I can’t say enough about the quality of lessons from this team (and I’ve been to a couple in Vancouver).

Great overall service and instructor.
I had an amazing instructor who was very friendly, informative, and gives very good feedback/criticism. He prepares very well-designed and well-organized classes that will definitely help you pass every element of the Road Test.

Took one brush up class with these guys for my Class 5 exam. The booking process was speedy and simple and the instructor was friendly and helpful. I appreciate that they let me use my own car, which a lot of the other places that I contacted did not. Also, one other driving school pretty much insisted that I needed at least two classes during initial booking despite not knowing anything about my skill level so I really appreciate the Raincity instructor telling me that I didn’t need further lessons at the end of our session. The honesty and integrity is respectable.

I’m super happy I decided to go with RainCity! Not only were they extremely helpful when it came to the scheduling of my lessons but my instructor, Edgar was absolutely amazing! He was extremely patient, knowledgeable and friendly. He made the entire experience enjoyable rather than nerve racking! And yesterday I passed my N on my first try with an almost perfect test! This is all because of the time that Edgar gave to making sure I had all the necessary skills down!

Passed my N first time with flying colours strictly because of Edgar and gene! Amazing humans who really teach you more than just how to drive. Gene pushed me to up my speed and gain confidence because I was being to hesitant and to remember my hill parks. And Edgar helped me understand real life driving situations and how to get myself out of them. He also was so amazing at explaining everything with drawings and talking! Which helped me because I learn best by seeing things. Would highly recommend this place ️ if I ever need "brushing up" one day I'll definitely be coming here again. Would give 6/5 if I could!

Doel and his brother, Rain, were really great instructors to have for someone learning to drive with zero experience. They were very patient and created a low pressure environment to learn in. That helped with my stress levels when I first started and eventually, I managed to pass my N on the first try! The only downside is that they're fairly busy, so it was difficult to book any additional lessons without tons of notice, but that wasn't anything on their end.

Rain was very observant and made me aware of my mistakes which prepared me for my test. I definitely recommend him for beginners and anyone who needs to improve. He took me through every situation to prepare me. Am very grateful.

Passed my N license in one go. RainCity’s driving instructors are knowledgeable, professional and VERYYYYY patient. I do not have any experience nor background in driving however they all made me understand the basics and was able to demonstrate my skills that’s essential in driving (although I have tons to polish) I would like to thank Doel, Rain and Edgar for all their talent and skills that really helped in unlocking and completing a task in my life. I had such informative and great lessons with all the instructors. I mainly had Rain who had a very calm demeanor. He's super friendly and kept me calm throughout all of our lessons. I had Doel and Gene for one lesson each. Doel gave me lots of confidence in my driving abilities and simplified everything I needed to know. Gene was great as well! Super friendly and informative. I took several lessons - off and on, a couple of lessons with Robert and half dozen with Doel recently this summer/fall (as well as a car rental mini lesson with Rain).

DOEL
They’re all good, but I found Doel’s instruction, clear precise and calm. His patience / natural calmness really lent itself to being a great instructor. I’d wholeheartedly recommend Doel to anyone who needs a brush up or is starting from the beginning. Awesome all around.

By the end of the half-dozen lessons with Doel, I felt really comfortable and confident, so can only recommend!

RAIN
For my last lesson, it was a pre-test mini lesson car rental for my Class 7, and was with Rain. I can't say too much about it since my time with him was short, but he was great in that time.

BOOKING
The booking process and communication with Roni was also great. She was flexible and pretty prompt. Email and text. Easy to work with.

VEHICLES
The cars were all easy to maneuver and I felt safe driving under their supervision.

Passed my test on the first go. So yay!

Rain was a patient teacher with a contagious calm demeanour. He taught me everything I needed to know for my exam and then some. I passed on my first try:) I definitely recommend RainCity for anyone looking for affordable and comfortable driving lessons.

I learned to drive later in life and had a lot of anxiety about driving in general. My instructor (Rain) exceeded any possible expectations I could have for a teacher. I learned in way fewer classes than I anticipated, I left my lessons feeling calm behind the wheel and skilled. I’ve now been driving for a year and feel like a good safe driver. No accidents and great defensive driving skills. Truly wonderful service and excellent instruction from Rain. I recommend this driving school to anyone needing to learn but particularly for anxious people. My anxiety was respected and understood but also Rain worked to ensure it didn’t hold me back. I can’t stress enough how great this experience was!

I decided to book driving lessons for my son after reading positive reviews about RainCity Driving School. Since our experience was great, I decided to write a review as well, which is something I do not often do. I purchased a package and RainCity did a great job of booking lessons right up to the Road test for my son. Rain even took my son out the day before his road test, even though it was Sunday. Both instructors, Doel and Rain, were patient and very knowledgeable. After each lesson they would text my son with a list of items he needed to improve on. This list was very helpful when I took my son out to practice driving as we referenced the list for things to practice. My son got his ‘N’ on his first attempt because of the great lessons he received from RainCity. I will recommend RainCity Driving School for new drivers.

Rain was my driving instructor. He was always very patient and calm and informative.

My lessons were in Burnaby, near Brentwood mall but my test was at a pop-up clinic (due to COVID backlog of appointments) in New West. I passed and got my N after my 6th lesson with Rain, which goes to show that it's not about how well you know the road and test area, but about how well you were taught and having situational awareness of the road around you and the rules of the road.

I had Robert, Rain and Doel as my instructors. All of them took part in my process of getting driver's licence. The whole process is very structurized and scheduling was pretty easy. Instructors are very patient and adjustable to your needs. Really great service!

Before starting my lessons I was very nervous and unsure about my driving skills but with the guidance and time spent behind the wheel with my instructor (Rain) I was able to gain the confidence and skill to pass my road test on the first attempt! I really enjoyed my lessons with Rain, he is an awesome coach, very calm and encouraging which was especially reassuring as I am a very nervous person and I never felt ashamed or embarrassed when I made a mistake.

Rain provided thorough and precise teaching all throughout the 18-hour lessons that I took with him, which I found really, really helpful. I had some overseas driving experience, but driving in BC is a very different experience with a different set of rules and different challenges, so I really appreciated Rain's guidance. In fact, some of the routes and manoeuvres we did during the lessons were more challenging than the actual road test, which was very beneficial in preparing for the road test indeed. Rain was also very patient, calm, and supportive and always gave me helpful feedback. I also liked it when he'd use a whiteboard to illustrate some key concepts (such as intersections and turns). Scheduling lessons was easy, and I could also schedule my lessons far in advance (which was much appreciated). Highly, highly recommended for anyone preparing for the ICBC road test.

Bought a 12 hour package with this driving school, and without much prior driving knowledge or experience, got my N on my first try. The instructors are great at giving you the feedback you need to help you excel on your road test, but also teach you how to be a safe/competent driver. Highly recommend them!

This is as far the best priced driving school there is.i only booked my driving lessons with Rain but I can say he was very good, he remained calm which helped me stay relaxed and calm though out the whole lesson, he also give good tips and he help me understand a lot about the rules the different types of intersections etc, he was also very frim when he had too and very very patient.i got that 6 hour package deal that they have and I can say it was worth the money. As Roanne was very helpful with helping me book my lessons as well.with this wonderful team at raincity driving school they help achieve my class7N.

Doel is a great teacher. Gives good pointers, constantly reminds me of errors. He prepares you for everything you need to know for the test.

I purchased the 45 minute refresher lesson and rental. The entire process was smooth and the route Rain took me on was almost identical to the one for my class 5. Also, everyone I interacted with was very friendly. Highly recommended!

Dominic was a fantastic instructor who helped me to pass my N test on the first try. He provided meaningful feedback with a positive learning environment. I had my lesson with Dominic. Needless to say, i passed as soon as I took classes with him. He's a very patient trainer, and he kept up with all my flaws with calm, improving them one at a time.
The institute is really cooperative, they adjusted my lessons as per my availability. Recommend them highly.

I have had many classes with all of the instructors and for most part have had a pleasant experience. Rain is very nice and does a good job teaching. Doel can get a bit frustrated at times if your a newbie, and then apologizes at the end of the lesson or at the next one. Robert can come across as having a very strong personality and a bit demanding, but you get used to it after a while - he means well. My last one was Domenic who i did not get along with at the beginning. Due to a health condition i need water handy at all times, and he refused to move a few pens from one of the cars cup holders - saying they are full. When he noticed i got a cough and needed the water, which he had put in the glove compartment he shared one cup holder with me. In general, i do not recommend him, he looked at his cellphone way more than my actual driving. I felt like i just paid to be able to legally drive with someone in the car for most part. He asked me to tell him if he could improve on anything at the end of the first session, to which i explained he could look at his cellphone a lot less, and mentioned all the other instructors watch my driving, rarely looking at their phone. However, with the next classes he did the exact same thing. So i didn't bother repeating myself when he asked what he could improve on again. Also, on the day of my exam the ICBC instructor almost didn't give me the test because she noticed that one of the tires was low on air and the car was showing the signal. She was kind enough to look past it and do it anyways. I simply do not believe that being a driving instructor is his calling. If you are interested in RainCity, i highly recommend having Rain or Doel teach you.

Did a couple refresher lessons with Dominic and he was very helpful in preparing me for what to expect. He was nice, as well as firm in correcting my mistakes and making sure I knew what to do. Overall a positive experience and would recommend!

I had a great experience with RainCity in all aspects including booking lessons, making payments, and the prompt & courteous instructors. Doel taught me how to drive from basically zero experience in 18 hrs of lessons plus pre-test and I passed my N on the first try. I actually can't believe it. I had put off learning to drive for many years and had become quite nervous about it but I was able to quickly gain the confidence and skills I needed. Thank you all!

I had a great experience with Raincity Driving School. Rain was my instructor and he is very skilled and knowledgeable at what he does. Before taking driving lessons from Rain, I took lessons from some driving instructor I found on craigslist. And trust me the difference is huge. So my advice is don’t waste your money and time on random instructors you find online rather come to a professional school such as Raincity and get your license as good safe driver.

After a couple failed attempts at trying to get my dad to teach me how to drive. I decided it was time to take lessons. A friend mentioned RainCity because their rates are lower than other driving schools. My first lesson was with Robert. After the lesson he recommended the 18 hour package. At the end of my lessons I took my road test and I passed. I really recommend taking driving lessons. It was worth it! I wish I took lessons years ago. Thank you Robert for helping me!

He is patient and efficient, make the most of each lesson.

I had Doel as my instructor. He is very patient and encouraging. Excellent communicator. He was very thorough with all the lessons I took.

Doel also helped my girlfriend pass her road test. She previously took lessons with another school but was not pleased. After telling her about my experience with RainCity, she quickly enrolled and was taught by Doel. She says that there is a tremendous difference with the teaching approach from RainCity versus the other school. Needless to say, she was impressed and very pleased to have enrolled here.

All in all, RainCity was awesome! The instructor we had genuinely wanted us to pass, and we did! (first try!) Major thanks to Doel!

I am giving them 3 stars because it wouldn't be fair to rate them with less since I did not take a lesson with them. I am rating them with 3 because of their costumer service. First time I called on a TUESDAY and they immediately asked me to send all my details by text, which was totally okay and I did. Then, I sent a text with my availability, city and amount of training hours that I needed. At 1: 30 pm I decided to call again because there was no confirmation that they had received the text, so I called and there was no answer but I got a text saying: "I'll call you back". Around 7pm I was informed that they were working on my schedule. Finally around 8pm they were able to propose some training hours for me (which I appreciate because I know how busy they are). Then I immediately asked for the prices, and they got back to me until the next morning (WEDNESDAY) around 7am with the prices. After reviewing the prices I confirmed my availability and was ready to go ahead (I responded at 8am). They did not get back to me so at 1: 48 pm I sent another text asking them to please confirm as soon as possible because I needed to make arrangements at my job (considering that the first scheduled training was the next day!), they unfortunately did not get back to me all day. Then on THURSDAY I received a text from a different phone number at 8: 43 am from "my instructor" saying that he was running late, this was very confusing since there was NO CONFIRMATION AT ALL. So I immediately phoned the instructor explaining the situation and he told me this was actually good because he was running late. Then he kindly sent me the scheduled hours that he had on file and asked me if those worked for me (the hours that he had were wrong). At that point I was honestly so annoyed by the amount of miscommunication and lack of formality that I did not reply back and called a different school. Then today FRIDAY the original costumer service lady texts me at 5: 16 am (seriously?) apologizing for not being able to reply soon saying she "overlooked" my latest text and said everything was confirmed. I replied saying sorry but I had to book with another school because you didn't reply.

In summary, IT IS NOT OKAY to keep a costumer waiting for DAYS. It is also not okay to text at completely random hours of the day and then not replying (8pm, 5: 16am.). I REALLY wanted this school because the reviews are amazing, and I am sure the instructors are great, but being "busy" or "having too much demand" is NO EXCUSE to treat someone this way.

I am attaching the screen shots of the texts because I am hoping that this will help this company to improve their Costumer Service. I am in no way trying to affect anyone and I hope they take this as constructive criticism.

1) Fairly priced and convenient meet up locations.
2) Joane the booking lady is very accommodating and works very hard to fit everyone in the schedule.
3) The instructors are great. They are patient and adjusts to personal learning styles.

The only thing is I wish they taught manual as well.

I will definitely come back for my class 5 road test refresher.

Definitely one of the best driving schools in Burnaby! Prices are affordable and the scheduling process was very straight forward. Rain was a very patient, calm and knowledgeable instructor and prepares his students well for road tests. Overall an excellent experience.
