Real Canadian Superstore

First time to this store. Initially turned off by having to plug in a loonies to use a shopping cart. Typical Superstore. No real difference to other grocery stores except for having to root around d to find a loonie so I could use a shopping cart. A pain in the rear so likely will not be back. Rather go the Thrify Foods or Quality Foods and not have to deal with the loonies carts.

Used to shop here frequently.but after hearing about the discount price fixing that Loblaws has decided to take part in I suggest choosing a local grocery store

Awesome selection of food. Nice and bright store. In addition this Superstore has clothing and a pharmacy.

The largest selection of presidents choice products.the trader Joe's of Canada? Large store, good stock levels. Recommended as being a bit different from other supermarkets.

Today I paid $3.35 for 2 onions (the cost of a bag of onions) and $2.50 for 1 potato (the cost of a bag). And then they want more money just for a bag that still isnt compostable.are you guys insane? You want us to buy produce that you wrap in pastic that lasts 10,000 years?

I hate this store, however they occasionally have good deals on meat. Staff are about as smart as a bag of hammers, no care or thought put into their jobs at all.

Low stock, pharmacy not open and you have to search then wait 15 mins for staff to unlock the products.

I don't like the warehouse atmosphere of Superstore. The prices aren't great and I hate having to buy in multiples to save a few cents

They usually have stock of what you need, but their electronic price tags need a lot of work; always lots that are down.

Better shopping place, best for choice with good prices than other same size competitors. Way more choice in the frozen foods sections of meats and fish.

I went through the self checkouts a few days ago. Savannah was really helpful and quickly fixed the price on a water bottle that was priced wrong. She was very kind to my kids as well. Great customer service will definitely be back

I didn’t wanna say anything bad but just look at the pictures, gross, I went there on 12th of September and the bread with the complementary fungus on it, were expired as shown on 9th of September. Also, there was a grand party of mosquitoes? Going on in the watermelon cardboard. I forgot to take picture of that.
I see flies roaming around all the time, but it’s okay.
I can’t make any changes right, just doing wht I can.
I spent 100$ smthg after seeing all the bad stuff.

Only drawback is that sometimes items are out of stock. Positive things: Staff is always friendly, helpful and store clean.

So much clearance clothing marked down and lots of plus size options. Wish they went up to 4x. Cooked chicken price excellent at $8 each if you buy two.

Not the cleanest of places but definitely the location where you will find the cheapest items. Produce are a hit and miss.

Food place to buy cheap stuff like cleaners and toilet paper. Terrrible place to buy stuff like produce or meat. Caution!

I don't like superstore but very little choice in grocery stores. Just wish superstore would be clean, baskets and carts always dirty

Too many shoppers maskless and store does not enforce mask mandate. I and a staff member agreed not feeling safe in there.

Huge superstore that stocks just about everything in the way of food and some hardware items plus there's a pharmacy. Awesome place!

Very dirty store. I would not make this my regular store but they had what we needed/wanted for our camping weekend in the area. I'm not sure I would return simply because of how dirty it was. I prefer a much cleaner store when grocery shopping.

Talk about protocol's, walked in & talk about busy for a Saturday! Just walked right in, no clerk or any sanitizer station available! Saw a few people not wearing their masks properly! Covering their mouths but not their noses! One gentleman wasn't even wearing his mask but talking on his cellphone, walking up & down the isles; theirs Nevers sales clerk when you need one! Looked down the isles with no luck! Said to myself, forget this & left

As of last week Superstore has restricted how many people can enter inside right now. I'm not sure how many people are allowed in at once but I have seen in the afternoon that the line up outside can be as bad as people lined up around the side of the building. My suggestion go first thing even a little before opening or closer to closing. Superstore does offer order on line curbside pick up.

Good place to shop. I tend to buy from the produce, bakery and dairy sections here. Staff are always kind, helpful, and lines are small to non-existent. They do a great job.

Nice store, very tidey.a few times a year Superstore puts beef tenderloin on sale. Cut your own steaks which I prefer. Great price.

The staff are very friendly, specially in the evening. I give them 3 stars because their flashfood prices for almost expired products are always just 50% off. Boxes come with molded fruits, and are way overpriced for them. Would be nice if they priced some stuff more than 50% off, like other superstore on the island.

Pricing is good, return policy is great on their PC brand. If you buy it, try it and don't like it you can return it or exchange (if no receipt) for something else. Many of the staff are really friendly and helpful. This is my preferred place to shop

The shopping cart is always a pain and the baskets don't have wheels.
They do have a very good selection and low prices.

In my opinion I feel the Super Store in Courtenay is operating as well as they can. I don't have any complaints at this time. Keep up the good work.

Superstore "quality? " is even worse in Courtenay than on the mainland. They regularly sell - at a reduced price of course-rotten produce. Or in many cases regular price stays in place with lettuces almost black. OMG. Produce aisles a mess on the floors-and this is on most any day. I buy the small selection of packaged international foods and their pork loins when on sale. If it's in a can, fine-meat and produce I go elsewhere for most.
*and the new mandatory mask rules are not enforced by staff or customers as already noted by others here.
* only store I know of that has black lights installed in washrooms to deter druggies.
I feel dirty just going in there and now go there rarely for the few asian products I can find.

Its definitely the best canadian tire I've visited on the island, great staff knowledgeable about the store always able to help.

I think Loblaw is a terrible company that causes hardship for their employees but the people in Courtenay are amazing and the staff are very kind and helpful. The samosas are amazing too, probably best in town. I hope the CVRD can start doing their part in lifting the community to a safer place so that the public parking lot is not so dangerous and bio-hazardous!

The store has convinient hours and there are always a lot of check-out lanes open. Grocery shopping is usually pretty easy here and you can almost always find what you need.

Good selection of foods but I'd avoid the bread. I have bought bread several times and within 2 days, the entire loaves are covered in mold while loafs from other stores can sit right next to their loaf for a week and still not have mold and the reason is that they either don't rotate the bread or intentionally put expired bread on the shelves to avoid waste.

I checked the best before date on the latest loaf that went moldy and it expired 3 days before I even bought it.

First & last time for online grocery pick up! Apparently Superstore was sold out of all jugs of milk and all coffee, "no substitution" or availability was clicked off for majority of my grocery order which were pretty common items. I went into the store and just bought it myself afterwards. Also after being lied to over the phone about it "not being available".
I understand something's are not available but come on guys.milk! And I'm pretty sure a whole aisle is dedicated to coffee alone.

Mouldy bread was given, expired yogourt! What a waste! The list goes on for how disgusting my online order experience was.

Also read in previous comments above and I also agree if you have a mask policy at the very least don't have your staff not wearing any masks and talking about how "silly" it is with others. People hear. Poor customer service and no response to my email that was written (with pictures to prove) or any refund put back on my card.
Thought I would try the online ordering experience, never again. I feel sorry for the customers who actually have to rely on it.

The checkout can be a bit slow at times, but that's life. As a tech-savvy individual I refuse to use the atrocious self-checkout machines. It's 2020. I could build you better machines in my basement. I hope the chain upgrades those in the near future.

Rude to me about bringing the form back without the clipboard which my wife was still using. I wasn't told what to do by the pharmacist that handed it to me.

The produce is the poorest in town. The on-line ordering service they offer is terrible. Constantly out of items, wrong orders and incredibly rude and inept service.

I went into the store yesterday.shame on you for not cleaning the carts. You should be cleaning them just like any other store. Your customers are lives and health are at stake.

I've shopped here for years now, and I think it's a fine store. No reason not to give it anything less than 5 stars, especially during these tough times.

I was in here looking for some floor mats for Dolly, the adorable 1990-something Toyota Corolla station wagon (it's a station wagon, right, Gil?) along with some general shopping. The floor mat selection was a bit low, with unclear pricing, but Gil and I found a couple pretty good options that, together, implied a forested world sitting below the car. Like two people falling in love, these floor mats came together to make a beautiful union.

Also next door there's a place to get these cinnamon buns that are pure sugar to the veins. This very nice older woman with white hair was working the cash register. The tables were red.

Not comming back. Almost 200$ worth of clothing for my granddaughter and the clerk was misserable all too common in this store. No thank-you. This comes from the top and trickles down to the bottom. No more!
