Real Eyes Optometry

My appointment was at 10AM and I arrived at 9: 40 AM today to allow some time for the paperwork considering I was (at the time) going to be a new patient.
The office was still dark despite the sign at the door saying office hours starting from 9AM.
When the staff turned on the lights I waited for about 10 mins and they still did not unlock the door. I was confused thinking they must have forgotten it so I started to knock also because it was getting closer to my appointment time.
So when the girl finally opened the door at 9: 53AM, I tried to explain why I knocked "Oh I thought you forgot (to open the door) ". To which she explained that they open at 10AM, which is different from the sign, and still not taking into account the time needed for the admin work.
But then another lady sitting at the computer just very rudely shout we open at 10! Please take a seat! I sat down feeling taken aback and not wanting to go through with my appointment anymore. I can't imagine having to come back or deal with this kind of treatment for the longer-term.

However, given the 7 min left that I was scolded instead of starting the process of taking me in, there was no way the appointment was going to start on time.

I was very happy to see Dr. Pati. This was my first visit with him. He is very knowledgeable and checked my eyes throughly. I have been to see other ophthalmologists before but I must honestly say that Dr. Pati is by far the best.

This was my first time going to another optometrist other than my childhood optometrist and it was great!

When I called to ask how much my appointment would cost, the office staff was very clear and I was able to get an appointment within a week! They seemed nice:)

Upon arriving the day of my appointment The office staff were helpful and clear with what I needed to do to get everything in order with regards to my insurance and payment!

Office layout
The layout it quite compact and small but I had no issues with it!

Website
The instructions to get to the office are very clear on the website and I really liked how they accounted for multiple modes of transportation (for example car, bus and Skytrain). I do wish that you had quotes about how much each of your services would cost (but maybe I missed that!). Other than that I liked the website and found it helpful!

Dr. Sahota (I believe that’s her name!)
I can’t remember the name of my optometrist, but she was so lovely, kind, and personable. This is my first time meeting her, and I feel like she really made an effort to make conversation and make me feel comfortable! I appreciated the level of connection she was able to extend and really showcased what a healthcare professional should be. She explained my prescription to me and seemed very knowledgeable. Unfortunately they didn’t have my exact eye prescription in stock for me to trial but that’s not the optometrist his fault haha.

Cost
my other optometrist charges about $200 for a full eye exam and contact lens fitting while I was only charged 145 for both of those here:)

Overall I am happy to write a positive review because I will definitely come back for the quality care, convenient location and nice admin!

Expect no inform of price adjustment and narcissistic abuse by denying the price adjustment

I come here did eye exam for contact lenses fitting because the price offer is great here. But, once I’m starting to purchase the product, the assistants told me that they just have a new price system and price goes up. Waste my eye exam here (cause I can only get rebate for purchase the contact lense from where I had my eye exam) and online is cheaper even without rebate now

Regarding the reply from the store,
This store has no courtesy of informing of price hike to existing customer who is due for purchase soon. All your excuse has not match basic courtesy of informing price adjustment.

Additionally, this store would pretend nothing happens when quote again for the same product, but charge you significant more without informing the price change. And I called several time and some staff confirm the price hike and some pretend there is no price hike. Very poor management. Horrible experience for customer to suffer from narcissist abuse by saler. This store want to push you into self doubt and charge you more.

My family saw Dr. Wang first time and new to the clinic. I booked back to back appointments for my husband, myself and my 4 year old son specifically so we didn't have to wait because I have 2 younger kids. My husband went first as my kids were asleep in the car. Then when I went the 1st thing the rude receptionist said was "You were suppose to be here at 3pm". I said my husband came does it matter who is first? She said "Yes it does, it ruins the doctors schedule". I was baffled at her rudeness as she didn't say hi nothing just lectured me right off the bat. Her angry face just threw me off I literally thought I went to the wrong place at first. It never really mattered at other offices which of our family is seen first but if it mattered so much she can say it nicely. Then she said we didn't answer the reminder calls and suppose to. Well if it's such a big deal why not send texts or emails. One call and expect everyone has to return it? Then when I was done my husband and son already waiting but Dr. Wang took in 3 other patients in between told us that he was slipping patients in? We waited an extra hour before my son was seen. I asked the receptionist why we had to wait and 3 other people seen her answer was that we were late? My son was already there. I am very dissatisfied with the service and organization of the staff. The Asian lady who checked my eyes with the machine seem cocky as I asked her what the 3rd machine is the takes picture with a bright light. She said it's very expensive and other places dont have it but I've been having vertigo from that since. Absolutely not what was done for service as specified on their website. Won't be going back. FYI, tons of other optometrists so good luck!

Very welcoming place & friendly staff! Dr. Amit Sahota was fantastic - super friendly, knowledgeable & kind. I was very satisfied with my first visit here and will definitely recommend to family and friends. I look forward to having a good eye exam place to come back to!

If you decided to go to this place you got the right smart decision trust me, staff are helpful and professionals and they do what they say. I’ve got my glasses less than a week I ask them if they can rush because I’m going out of the country, within few days I’ve got a call from them that my glasses is ready for pick up I’m so happy on that moment I will consider that as my Christmas present from them. Honestly I never expected to get my glasses before my flight. I trust this place and I will go back again someday. Believe me end of the day you won’t regret beside you will be happy. Yeoj2022

I have been with Dr. Wang for 20+ years. He is always great, patient and professional. For the past few years, the clinc hired a lot of new staff and they provided TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICES. I recently decided to go for eye laser surgery; not only I had to contact the eye specialist and eye laser center they referred myself but also the staff named Jocelyn had to charge me additional fee on my top of the pre-op fee. When I asked her about the additional fee she charged, she couldn't provide me with any valid reason why the fee couldn't be included in the pre-op fee. She did not even allow me to talk to the doctor about the fee. Because of her, I will not go back for post-op check ups. My family and I will not go back for any regular check ups in the future either.

I had a nice time here during my eye exam. Staff was friendly. All my questions were answered during the exam. She offered in-depth explanations instead of just glossing over topics, and was really reassuring. I also got glasses here. They left me to browse and try on glasses until I was ready. I didn't feel pressured or rushed at any point while here. It was nice. No regrets.

The front counter ladies are the best. They always help with the best rates for my contacts purchases. They have patience. And Dr Patti is great

Dr. Pati is thorough and patient. He listens to your experience then completes his measurements comprehensively.

Dr. Pati and his team were very knowledgeable and pleasant I look forward to go there again and would recommend my friends to go there too.

I am new to Burnaby and was due for my yearly eye checkup. I had appointment wit Dr. Pati. He is so kind, knowledgeable and took time to check completely all tests. He also took time to check my kid as well. Iam completely happy with Dr.pati and definitely see and recommend my friends for any eye checkups.

My family and I see Dr. Sahota, and are extremely pleased with their services. The optometrists are so patient and caring, and all the staff very helpful. We also saw Dr. Pati for an emergency, and he spent the time answering my daughters questions. We are so appreciative of his experience as he helped clear her problem and took the time to ensure she was comfortable. Top marks for this clinic!

First of all I would like to say that staff are very friendly and helpful but I will never recommend anyone else to visit this place. I had a pair of prescription glasses and a pair of sunglasses. Later at home I found out that they are not fitting well and yesterday I went back asking for exchange of sunglasses or refund. The lady at desk politely explained to me that they never do exchange or accept returns. I was surprised and disappointed to hear that. She tried to help me by asking the owner of the clinic who refused me the service. I wish I could have been to my regular clinic. They also never accept more than one insurance so if you go there, you have to know that it will be a final sale no matter what may happen after exiting the clinic.

Dr. Tony Wang missed diagnosis my eye condition even though I had some concerning symptoms with my eye. He insisted there was nothing to be worried, and nothing he could do for my symptoms. Luckily I went for a second opinion with another optometrist. I ended up with an emergency referral to the Eye Clinic at VGH for an emergency retina surgery. The diagnosis was 3 tears on my left eye. I received an emergency eye surgery the next day.
This miss diagnosis is unacceptable from an optometrist. As my symptoms are very obvious for retina tear or detachment. The consequences of this misdiagnosis can be serious for my eye sign. I will never want anyone have my experience. I do not recommend Dr Tony Wang to anyone as an optometrist.

Dr. Tony was very thorough with my eye exam and I didn’t feel rushed like I did at other places. Everyone was nice and friendly. I highly recommend this place for an eye exam.

They are amazing! All the staff and doctors are professionals, friendly and helpful. We cannot thank them enough for always taking the time to help us and for providing us with amazing services. I highly recommend them.

Went in for a work related eye exam. The team was superb! Dr. Amit Sahota loves her work and it shows.

If you're looking to use your company's benefit to get an eye exam here, I highly recommend you DON'T. I had the most stressful experience.

The optometry informed me the claim was accepted. I got the receipt the exam was paid. Half a year later, they found the claim bounced back. Instead of contacting the insurance company, they chose to pester the customer, requesting me to look into it and pay for the outstanding balance. Called me on a Saturday, during work hours, and even after I told them I will call back since they caught me at a bad time, they still called me 2 hours later.

I had to instruct them to contact the insurance. The optometry claimed they couldn't, gave me a bunch of excuses about personal information, etc. It turned out it was a misunderstanding between them and the insurance, something they could've sorted out themselves, but all they care about is getting the money back. Yes I get it, it's tax season, you just found this outstanding balance on the last week of fiscal, but DON'T pester your customers.

I never had any insurance claim issue before. I will not recommend this place to my colleagues, not with Real Life Optometry being this unprofessional and disorganized.

Dr. Shaun Pati is one of the most professional healthcare practitioners I have ever met — with clear communication and thoughtful explanations for each of my concerns.

My son was prescribed a pair of eyeglasses by Dr. Pati last April and the experience went well. A lady at the reception recommended an insurance named Kids Kits (?) which covered "everything" if the eyeglasses are damaged within a year, and I purchased the policy. My son's classmate broke his eyeglasses yesterday and I was told by the very same lady at the reception today the policy only covers the lens.
I am glad it's just a pair of eyeglasses, not blood work results from cancer treatment or serious heart condition. I've booked an appointment with Lenscrafters from downstairs for my boy and will ask a written statement for any "promise".

The staff here have been phenomenal! The sincere care towards me and my eye care has been the best that I've experienced, bar none! (I'm saying this after jumping around numerous optometrys in Vancouver for the past 23 years of my life). In the past month, I got a regular eye exam and a pre-op exam for PRK surgery.

I like how the availability of their hours, and parking spaces make it comfortable to come visit Dr. Pati.

His high attention to detail and thorough examination really puts me at ease for my coming PRK surgery in late December.

Since I have a dynamic schedule, I don't make it easy for them to schedule me in, but they are always quick to respond and flexible to adapt to my schedule!

If you are looking for an optometry, which will give you the highest level of satisfaction and care, I highly recommend Dr. Pati and his team.
