Our guide Josh was excellent.
Our 4.5 hour trip was less then 3hrs.
Not sure why.
Was a good experience but would like to have paddled the full 4.5hr we paid for.

So friendly, great trips but sadly only one bear after three hours of looking. Our fault I suppose expecting to see more.

We booked a hot springs tour through Remote Passages Marine Excursions and it was wonderful.

The staff and crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. They offered tea afterwards and also handed out maps/recommendations for other local businesses.

I highly recommend this company!

What an amazing experience! Great, knowledgable staff, running a smooth, professional operation. Equipment was all clean and well-maintained, and our guides were friendly and very flexible when it came to making sure we had a good experience. We saw black bears and a grey whale, as well as sea otters and a surprise eagle. When we expressed interest in the eagle, our guide diverted our tour to show us an eagle's nest, which was hugely appreciated because they'd already provided us with everything they'd promised. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company, or to return for more tours with them myself. Perfect.

Went to Hot Springs Cove and loved every bit of the experience from start to finish. The people, the captains, the vessel, the information shared, the mint tea! I would absolutely do this again with Remote Passages. All the stars for this crew!

Had three trips with Remote Passage Excursions. All trips were outstanding. Captain Chris on whale viewing where we saw sea otters, stellar seals playing in the surf and multiple whale encounters. Trey took us on black bear tour and we saw five different bears foraging on the shore line, getting pretty close. Rafael took us on another whale tour which started foggy but ended up perfect conditions. I’m one bay there were four different grey whales. Highly recommend these tours and the company. Awesome

Four months ago when I booked my stay at the Tofino HI International, the front desk staff highly recommended me to also book the activities well in demand prior to arrive. For the bear tour, I made sure to ask if the animals will be seen since it is a nature tour. "Yes they will be there with their cubs and the season was the right one". Later prior to arrive, I called the company to make sure I will see them. The tour only runs AM due to the low tide. The bears will come to shore and feed themselves and their cubs. Well nothing of that scenario happened. Prior to embark for a windy zodiac ride, we all had to wear a heavy and bulky camisole to keep us warm. After more than 45 minutes, the guide Ralph stopped and we spotted one bear on top of the tree. We waited and waited and nothing else exciting happened. We left and at the second location, we saw one on the ground. Both were isolated incidents. Ralph did not look for more and was interested to return to the dock. The tour has ended. On the way back we spotted a seal which I saw before in the bay but remember the tour was meant for bearS. The zodiac trip was longer that watching the inexistent bears in quantity. The company runs that kind of trip daily multiple times and therefore has the obligation to know per sure the locations where the bears in quantity were supposed to roam in their habitat with their cubs. I did not sign the tour to see one or two bears. I could have gone to the zoo and see the same quantity of more. I was very disappointed not to get what I expect and paid for it. I emailed the owner Don to be reimbursed either partially or totally but he did not agree although he appreciated my sincere feedback for the staff to be more knowledgeable and be transparent. Also it is very important for the staff to have the opportunity to join those tours and have a feeling of what they are prior to sell them. IT IS MANDATORY.
I won't recommend that tour to people who would expect to see bearS. I repeat bearSSSSS.

First of all, for us the tour was a waste of money. But with the right equipment, the tour can be worthwhile. Hence the medium rating.

The boatman was cordial and went out of his way to find bears. We "saw" the first one after about 90 minutes. Unfortunately, some of the pictures here suggest that you can get very close to the shore and thus to the bears. In fact, all 3 bears we found could hardly be seen with the naked eye. Even with a standard holiday camera and a good mobile phone camera, it was hardly possible to get usable recordings. With a better camera, however, such recordings may be possible, as can sometimes be seen here.

Since we didn't have these, unfortunately 300 CAD wasted. Speed boating is also cheaper.

Thank you Sam and Rachel for making our kayak trip such a memorable experience! Before we set out, we were extensively briefed. While on the water, we were led to scenic areas where we saw star fish, crab, and lots o kelp. We also hiked Clayoquot island - Sam and Rachel went above and beyond by providing us history and excellent pictures when requested! Totally worth it and highly recommended!

Very nice bearwatchtour with Raphael. We got into a mistake on the whale watch but Don and his team went the extra mile to give us a tour: Connor took us to see grey whale and humbpack. We are very gratefull and pull our hat and off to them. We deeply recommend them.

Connor was amazing guide for our kayaking tour. He's passionate and knowledgeable with his work and truly loves nature. We stumbled upon some garbage along our route and he did not hesitate to pick it up while keeping the group on route.

Kati and Don are very polite and responsive when we were booking our tour. They're very experienced in providing the best service around. I would highly recommend Remote Passages for your kayaking and tours in Tofino!

We pulled into Tofino 20 minutes before a whale watching tour and the staff were very accommodating to get us on board. They were even kind enough to fetch us a snack as we had been travelling all morning!

The tour itself was great, the guide was very friendly and informative and we even managed to see some killer whales on the tour. Thanks guys!

We went there this summer, it was the last days of our Vancouver trip! And a real beautiful way to finish it.
We book a kayak trip for the rainforest island. And I can just say on thing, I was speechless! First the owner, who have the same family name as me, we talk a bit about that ahah, was just so kind! After that we meet our guide, I don't remember her name, but she was really nice with us, and so much good fact she shared with us.
So after we meet her and she show us the security and how to use the kayak on sea we departed on the ocean with her. We where 4 friends and her. After just some minutes we had the chance to sea Eagles really close to us, the views were just so great and amazing so many island.we couldn't take picture because all our stuff where on the waterproof bag. So everything it's on my head for ever.
Finally we reached the rainforest Island. So to explain its an island with really really old trees! The trail leads to a sign marking “Hanging Garden. ” From the decaying trunk of a 1,700years old, five-and-a-half-metre-wide red cedar tree, one of the oldest trees of Canada! A Really giant tree! It's a really easy hiking but so beautiful.
And finally we went back to tofino in kayak using a different way, because it's the Ocean and there is tide.

We saw several whales. The law requires boats to keep 150 m away from the whales, so you may want to bring binoculars. You may also want a hat and gloves to keep warm. We also saw sea lions and sea otters. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The Zodiac ride was fun.

We had a wonderful kayaking trip with Connor this July. It was our first kayaking experience and we loved it! Connor told us interesting facts about the local fauna and the history of the islands on our way. Highly recommend!

We did the Clayoquot Explorer kayak tour and has the most amazing time. Emily, our guide was this wonderful women with a charming personality. Emily pointed out wildlife, shared anecdotes and lead us along a you're of her favourite trees while we walked throughout this Hithuu? Is trail. We did Emily's signature panoramic Tree shot. We had so much fun.

$3 per person of your fare is dedicated to the Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks Society.

Awesome! Me and my partner just finished our kayaking with Mike and it was a perfect sunny day trip around the islands completely recommend and we will return here next time we're in tofino

My two teenage kids and I had an amazing trip yesterday. Guide Ashley's knowledge of seaweed, local history and culture, and keen eye for wildlife made this trip special to us. And taking the kids on the 'rapid tour', well, they felt accomplished. Many thanks Ashley!

We had a lovely 4 hour kayak excursion to Meares Island. Remote Passages provides water shoes + a dry bag for your tour. Our guide Mike was very knowledgeable and fun! Would highly recommend Remote Passages!

My wife and I went for the 4 hour kayaking tour for our anniversary, and we couldn't have been any happier. It's hard to pick who to go with for these tours, as they basically all sell the same experiences. We had looked around a few of the other tour companies in the area but decided on Remote Passages as their staff just came across as being the most fun and enthusiastic, which is the whole point in something like this. We booked in for the 10: 30am time slot, and were very fortunate that it ended up being just my wife and I with our guide Connor, who is an absolute legend! He's very thorough in getting you set up and teaching you the right way to kayak (we have both kayaked quite a few times before, but have never really been shown proper techniques and tips on the right way to do things). We got out on the water and were lucky enough to see lots of wildlife. Connor goes over lots of little facts and stories along the way and clearly loves his job and respectful of the environment that he lives in.

Part of the tour includes a walk on the 'Big Tree Trail' where you see some of the oldest trees in BC. Again, Connor knows his stuff and we learnt a lot from him. The tress are pretty incredible, dating back almost 2000 years. It's also a great way to stretch you legs and back too!

My wife and I would also like to say a big thank you to the team as a whole because, once we got back on land, they let us know that orcas were heading down and could possibly come past. They were so kind to let us come down on to their private deck where we were able to see the orcas up close. What an experience that was. It was also great to see the team be so excited to see them come by too. My wife posted an Instagram video that we captured of that and has tagged Remote Passage in it, so go take a look, and Remote Passage, please let us know if you'd like us to share the videos with you too.

Anyway, I'd highly recommend taking a tour with these guys and girls. Amazing people and we're very grateful to them for kicking off our anniversary in style!

Great sea kayaking experience, very calm and supportive learning, Mike was our tour guide and did an excellent job! Highly recommend, fun way to see parts of the Tofino area from the water. Thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed the bear tour. We'd seen a number of bears on a tour in Whistler so were a little dubious as to whether this tour could match that experience. We were not disappointed. The office staff were so friendly. Kitting us out with inflation suits, hats, gloves etc, we were helped on-board by our guide Rumi. We got so lucky seeing 7 bears although a number of those were only visible through binoculars. The highlight for me was the mum and cub eating shellfish along the coastline. We must have watched them for a good 20 mins. A very special moment. Rumi was so knowledgeable and considerate to all on-board. Switching between languages at times so no-one felt left out.

So we enjoyed the trip so much we booked the Whale watching for the next day. Rumi was once again successful. Four grey Whales, two of which were really close, as well as Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Otters and a Bald Eagle. Magical.

The Zodiac boat was also a bit of fun.

We were both on whale and bear safaris, and both trips were great experiences. We saw many whales and bears close by, it was really exciting. The staff were very friendly and it was clear that they really wanted us to have a great experience. Our guide on the whales was Rumi - he knew a lot and was good at telling about his great knowledge of the whales and the people of the area.
11 July 2019 1:27
Did a whale watching trip in the Zodiac with Rumi. He was an awesome guide and super knowledgable. We say humpbacks and a grey and he made sure to take us around the island where all the sea lions hang out at. He was also just genuinly a good guy. The registation and check in was quick and painless and we were on the water in no time.

Great experience. Fantastic tour guide who really knew his stuff. Lovey staff in general. Saw whales, sea lions, sea otters, ospreys, eagles and puffins. The islands surrounding the Tofino are all breathtaking and I can’t help but think, ‘Damn, what a place to live/have a house’ + ‘Imagine a house on that secluded island’.

I highly recommend.

Don, the owner of Remote Passages, is an ethically responsibly and environmentally conscious owner/operator, who walks the walk of ecotourism done right. Of the operations in Tofino you could choose to give your business to, Don is among the best. His office may be a bit off the main drag (which is kind of a joke, because that means literally 2 blocks away, right on the water), but take the time to seek him out and you can be assured of an amazing experience.
28 May 2019 21:48
A very warm and engaging staff who are clearly passionate about their craft and their clients. Safety presentation was clear and confident, and captain Fraser was respectful and informative about the wildlife in the area. Tour ended with a bald eagle flying right over the bow at about 15 feet of altitude! Well done and would highly recommend.
26 May 2019 2:32
Amazing! Mackenzie and Tyson were knowledgeable, friendly, and patient with all our questions. Would definitely go again, the next time we're in Tofino.

Had one of the best days in our life! Thank you for showing us bald eagles, whales, bears, sea otters and so much more! Unforgettable Tour!

I had a great time! The tour was awesome! Liam (the guide) was awesome and had the coolest fun facts! Saw a whale, sea otters and sea lions! The girls at the front desk were extremely friendly, helpful and educated! (Jaime, Shay and Shantell). The kayak guides were also so friendly and inviting when I come back I'll be doing the tour with those two ladoes I hope! (Tameliya and Kaitlyn)

The tour was awesome, but the wonderful staff made it that much better! And to top it off they give you peppermint at the end!

Had an amazing amazing time whale watching. Before we went out they told us we might see some grey whales and possibly some humpbacks but it would be difficult to see Orcas as they move around a lot. We got to our first spot and I turned around to see an Orca breach, do a backflip and land in the water. It was a pod of transient Orcas and they were in the middle of a hunt. It was super intense, they were breaching quite frequentl. There were a few calves with them and we stayed and watched them for quite a while.

We also watched a grey whale from a distance. Even if we didn't see anything the boat ride is a lot of fun. It's very bouncy.

Our guide was really great. His name was Rumi and he had a lot of interesting stories to share with our group. Remote passage was a really well organized outfit. The staff are extremely professional friendly.

My friend and I had an amazing experience with Remote Passage on a Hot Spring Cove trip about two weeks ago. Our guide Leif (spl?) was professional, thorough and enthusiastic in showing us all the wildlife along the way - we saw 3 humpback whales and at one point they surrounded our boat, and every time we tried to leave there would be a showing.and it's not even a whale-watching tour! We also saw sea otters, sea lions, bald eagle, and so many wonderful things. None of us wanted the tour to end. Highly recommend! Thank you Leif and Remote Passage for a wonderful day.
