Enjoyed our tour of the facility. It was interesting to see the history of the construction as well as learn about the future plans as well. Definitely worth the $8 admission for the guided tour.
$8 per person, $7 for kids. Very clean and informative the reason it gets 4 stars is because of the elevator that takes you up to the viewing deck. It’s extremely slow and you have to wait a long time for your turn. It’s also shared with the workers.
Went with my grade 4-5 class years ago and just went back now as a high school graduate! Still very impressive and big as I remembered, definitely worth a visit with your family if your travelling through
This place was so cool. We saw a program on TV and decided to venture out and explore. The visitor centre was very clean and inviting. Lots of parking. The entrance fee was very reasonable. I had fun and learned a lot.
We visited the dam on the first day the visitor center was open in 2022. It was really great. We did a tour with a German audio guide, this was also very informative. The entrance fees are good. There is a lot offered for children, so it is good to come here with your family. At the end of the visit there were still some excursion tips from a staff member, these were absolutely great, thanks for that!
If you buy the tour pass (which is under 10 bucks for all ages), you get a detailed tour of the place starting from when and how it was built to and actually tour of the different levels of the dam itself. You don't get to see the nitty gritty things of the dam but as a plus, you take an elevator to the floors that you visit (fully wheelchair accessible) and you get to go to the top of the dam. The only downside is that it's a little hard to find but not definitely worth it. As the website says it: "Whether you're on a self-guided or guided tour you'll be able to take an elevator to the top of the dam for a breathtaking downstream view of the Columbia River Valley. " Now before you get all excited, the visitor centre is only open mid-May to early September (the website isn't very clear).
I didn't expect this to be as cool as it was, and interesting tour (either guided or self guided) and you end up getting some amazing facts about the dam, river systems in BC, and beautiful views. It's a steal of a deal for $8.
It's a great activity if highway 1 is closed for hours on end.:)
Was the first time back since I was a kid, and they finished construction. My father was one of the principles in building the dam, and I spent a lot of time on site when I was a kid! Spectacular views!
We visited the dam and visitor center a few days ago when we were visiting Revelstoke. While there we joined a free tour of the facilities. It was an interesting, informative and enjoyable experience. The view from the top of the dam is majestic. I took photos but none of them do it justice. If you're in the area, I highly recommend visiting it and joining one of the free tours.
Great way to spend an hour or two. Wonderful tour guide, very informative session. Relatively cheap at $30 for a family of 4. Even kept the young kids entertained.
Just dropped by out of curiosity on our way through town. This great experience started at the gate entrance. Very friendly and welcoming gentleman encouraged us to enjoy the tour. After a very short wait we were led on a tour by Samantha who was very knowledgeable and humourous. What a great experience. Lovely and cool on a hot day. Would encourage everyone to take time out to learn about this dam
Haven't been here since I was a kid. Decided to break up the drive from Calgary to Kelowna with a stop at the Dam. It's not even 5 min north of town. It was a quiet Monday afternoon so it was just the tour guide and myself. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I found what he had to say very interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Highly recommend a stop here to break up a hot drive through the mountains. Mainly because it's like 13 degrees inside the dam.
Wow, we have been coming to Revelstoke for years and finally went and took a tour. It is inexpensive, interesting for everyone and the tour was very well done (thank you Samantha). A must see!
Impressionnant! Barrage très haut qui nous rend tout petit. La visite guidée est très intéressante et dure environ une heure. C’est l’occasion de découvrir cet univers et comment est créé l’électricité. C’est intéressant pour tous les âges je recommande fortement. Bonne visite.
This place is a must see when visiting Revy. It's a little piece of history with future plans in place. The staff were super friendly, and our lady tour guide was awesome! Thanks:) @bchydro
Fantastic place, since they are renovating the prices are extremely low. Great tour guide, lovely exhibition and a fantastic view from the top. Must see in Revelstoke!
