Richmond hospital made the worst time of my life alright.my grandmother, who raised me, is probably going to pass today.everyone in the hospital, the techs, the nurses, the phlebotomists, social workers, and of course doctors, were enormously helpful, humane, and caring. I've worked in the very best and renowned hospitals in the world and I will say that the culture of richmond hospital and the degree of compassion and morale here is palpably better.the gripes against the hospital must be reflective of the overall state of healthcare rather than the people inside.its clear the doctors are absolutely exhausted and the healthcare resources are always in short supply, but that is a systemic problem, not one specific to this hospital.granted, you won't have the state of the art fanciest gadgets or procedures done here, but they commendably uphold the standard of care and in the 21st century that is far more than sufficient.i would have no qualms passing here as well.go richmond hospital! You've earned yourself a fan!

I have been sick with respiratory issues for about a month I had an appointment with my family Dr Thursday who said he thinks I may have pneumonia so I started antibiotics and went for a chest x ray Friday around 4: 30pm I was still feeling horrible and went to richmond hospital they too did an x ray and multiple test and sent me home with a nasal spray saying nothing is wrong no iv no covid test even thought I told them I've been sick puking and dehydrated all they gave me was a lozenges and made me wait anyways.the Dr came and told me my x ray and test are all normal which isn't true! Today my doctor called me about the other x ray I did at 4: 30 that same day and I have pneumonia! What the heck? The Dr also treated me like I was faking it

Today, September 1,2023, I went to the emergency room. The child’s leg was broken. Because I had to wait for 6 hours, I asked them for some gauze, but they refused. I said I wanted to clean the wound, and I could give some cotton.reject. I asked more and they closed the window in front of my nose. Patients and their families who come to the hospital for medical treatment are very anxious. We can be understanding and patient, but the doctors and nurses in the hospital must also be patient. I was very disappointed with the attitude of the nurses at Richmond Hospital. Don’t recommend Richmond Hospital
02 September 2023 9:51
Male nurse working Aug 20 @ 7am in the ER who asks you questions after checking in lacks serious EMPATHY.

Was severely dehydrated couldn’t keep anything down and needed fluids. Couldn’t care less to give me IV or electrolytes.

You can’t help? No clearly you do not care and should get a different job.
28 July 2023 11:23
I just had surgery 3 weeks ago and my experience wasn’t that great, I was at the recovery room and still unstable and weak and barely can’t walk but they just want you out, I wasn’t even offered a glass of water I was dehydrated and groggy I don’t think I want to have surgery at this hospital again, bad experience, I have better experience at BBY hospital
28 July 2023 6:55
Our baby was born there.we are so grateful to angela, manreet, harriet, briana, aria, stephanie, kenix and of course doctor armstrong, doctor heslip, and doctor lee.fay could work on her people skills but other than that i would say the maternity ward is perfect.
23 July 2023 18:45
I was with my mother in Emergency. They don't have pillows on the bed. She nurse said they are short in pillows. Horrible! I hope they will not be short in medication soon. Our medical system becomes worst and worst every day
13 June 2023 13:59
Broke a bone in my left arm Riding an electric unicycle, had my first emergency operation ever performed the same day, Good experience with all the nurses and doctors here, everyone is very friendly, informative and professional! Thank you Nurse Rose, Zahra, Ashley, Dr Van Wes, Dr Kendall and more!

Busy Hospital Most Day's! Amazing Dr's n' Nurse's Staff as Any Hospital Deal's With alot is a given n' Shout out to them in a High Stress LifeStyle! So of Course I Give them All a 5 Star! For doing what the Do
21 May 2023 4:00
Horrible hospital.
Not good training staff
Nurse didn’t know how to work with Covid kit
Waiting long than expected
I prefer to die but not to go richmond hospital anymore
06 May 2023 13:43
Absolutely the WORST emergency I have even been in Canada. At 6am on a Sunday, with 2 people in front of me.still haven’t seen a doctor 3.5 hours later. Meanwhile, listening to all the staff socializing, talking on cell phones while standing around the water cooler. Inefficiency and incompetence at its finest.
06 May 2023 3:41
Dr. Simmonds was so attentive and patient with us. Really appreciate the care he gave us at ER. Thank you
21 April 2023 16:29
My visit to the ER in 2022 gives me still ptsd. Was experiencing chest pains with leg pain at my workplace a public sector. We have a medical clinic and I rushed to see the doctor. She suspected a pulmonary embolism and asked me to head to the ER immediately with an ambulance and advice them what the doctor suspected. My manager called 911 and as I work in a public sector where we have paramedic services they came within minutes and gave me the same rundown as the doctor. They advised me the wait for the ambulance is like an hour and the Richmond hospital is just 10 minutes away. They said to rush there and let the ER know I have been checked my a medical doctor and paramedics and they suspect a pulmonary embolism and I should be taken right away. My manager rished me to the ER right away.
This is where the nightmare began.
Once at the ER the receptionist could care less about any information I had to share. Kept telling me have a seat. I multiple times try to explain was I have been told by the doctor and paramedics (apparently it was also remarked somewhere) but she kept cutting me off and kept asking me to have a seat. In panicked andI beg her to listen to me and that is when she tells me if I don't want to wait I can leave. I again just trying to explain and then I am threatened with security.
I sat down frightened, waited 3 hours till finally called in for ecg, waited another 2 hours to be seen by a doctor who ordered a CT.
The attending doctor and other nurses (except the triage nurse who tried to give me a lecture about the receptionist) who have seen me where amazing, compassionate and friendly.
But this receptionist nurse is definitely in the wrong profession. No empathy or compassion. Threats patients like cattle.
21 April 2023 7:51
Really sad for this kind of health care system very very slow
There is really lack of doctor to take care of patient here.
I sad for who is really has bad sickness.
04 April 2023 0:09
Great experience with my breast reduction surgery! Amazing doctors and nurses, everyone is so kind.
However. Despite the fact my roommate had come in to drop me off, and that several of the staff in the Surgical Day Care watched me hand my cellphone and items to him, and even telling the Staff outright that he was the person picking me up; the staff later accused him of being a unknown person, refusing to answer his questions about whether or not I was okay. They called him to come in an hour earlier, then got angry when he came in when called.
Great doctors, great care for those in surgical care, but I can’t give a hospital 5 stars for being so cruel to those that are there as emergency contacts. I will do everything in my power not to return to this hospital.
02 April 2023 8:45
Our experience at the birth centre was amazing. I’m glad I gave birth at this hospital, staff are professional, friendly and supportive. From the doctors who delivered our baby to kitchen staff. Special mention to doctor Lou, doctor Lister and nurse Deborah. We appreciate the work that you all are doing.
22 March 2023 21:59
I rate this hospital 3/5, because in the positive part, they provide a first class experience in their Birth Center Unit. But I observed that when you are not pregnant or for other reason, and you have walked-in through their Emergency Room, the quality of their service is very slow and some nurses are not that compassionate enough to help their patients.
11 March 2023 6:26
Can’t say enough about my experience at the hospital. Everything was so organized and streamlined prior to my knee replacement. The staff are wonderful. Very efficient and professional. I personally don’t like sharing a room with men but I understand the reasoning. Also, there should be visiting restrictions during the night, except for maybe the critically ill. One of the patients in my room has had visitors coming and going all day long and at 9: 05pm he still has 2. Very annoying when I’d like to go to sleep!
03 March 2023 20:10
Terrible service in emergency. Waited for over 4.5 hours in pain after being admitted and triaged by a condescending nurse, and in the end decided to leave without seeing a doctor about my condition, and wait for a drop in clinic to open. No dignity, privacy nor compassion from any of the staff there. Was in the middle of the night and wasn’t very busy. All they offered was a Tylenol and told me I wasn’t going to die. Pathetic!
16 February 2023 2:31
The last 3 times I’ve come here for help it’s been over 3 -6 hours waits.the nurse are inattentive and rude when you ask questions. They are judgemental to addicts and people struggling with mental health.the overall communication with patients is horrible. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there for medical attention
09 December 2022 13:48
I brought my son to emergency, he could not walk by himself. Walked to the registration window and first thing receptionist said hope you (my son) not drinking this early. I was offended by that comment and was very upset. This is not the way to treat somebody who is really sick. Stereotyping must stop.
17 November 2022 9:58
I was here with my grandpa waiting 4.5 hours. We were seen by a friendly nurse but after that not one person came to inquire about how we were doing or to tell us the wait time. We were told by a doctor to come to the ER as my grandpa's problem was serious, clearly they did not find my grandpa's pain as an emergency. When we tried to leave we were told that we are close to next but that they go off of acuity (severity) of their cases so they couldn't tell us how long the wait would be. I understand that other people may have severe problems but they least they can do is keep us in the loop as my grandpa is experiencing severe pain. If possible drive to another ER DONT GO HERE.
07 November 2022 6:38
Good is that to see people are seeking for perfection or expecting something great, also it’s great to appreciate people or many people are working hard here and taking care of many patients every day! Today my eyes were tearing
06 November 2022 14:43
What a complete joke at Richmond Hospital Emergency Services. The wait times are horrendous. Over 8-9hours. You see staff chatting and having fun while patients are in pain and agony and made to wait for hours! It is like we are at their mercy and they are doing us a favour by even seeing us! They forget that we are paying top dollars for there services!
Nightmare only one doctor on duty!
02 November 2022 23:44
The worst hospital in the city. We had a horrible experience here. Please avoid this hospital for your health and safety.
15 October 2022 13:49
I am waiting for doctor from last 3 hours nobody is here to attend me. I asked them i can’t wear the pain in my jaw but their was doctor is busy right now.
10 October 2022 18:37
The maternity unit is amazing - caring, compassionate, friendly nursing staff. My OB - Dr. Kowalczyk - is undoubtedly one of the best, and was so clear on her advice when it came to choosing my mode of delivery. I was especially happy since I was transferred directly here from BC Women’s due to a lack of space and the staff here were all knowledgeable about my labor complications. Special shout-out to Faye, Sherman, Sharene, and Autumn for their amazing work ethic. It has been a wonderful experience…
09 October 2022 6:34
Sitting in ER for 4 hrs and 36 min and still nothing! I asked how long more should I wait? They told me they called my name but I wasn't here! They took me inside and said im next, waiting for another hr and I asked a nurse any idea how long more should I wait? She said they are waiting for Xray results! I haven't seen a doc how they waiting for Xray results! I understand why the reviews are bad! All the complaining end up to just get same reply. Hi, Providing timely, compassionate care is our top priority and we're sorry to hear you felt this was not your experience. If you'd like to speak further about your experience or register a complaint, please contact our Patient Care Quality Office!
02 October 2022 22:51
My husband and I are visiting from Michigan. He brought me to the Richmond Emergency Room at 7 PM on Saturday evening. We did experience a long wait but the ER was very busy. The entire staff, nurses, doctor, X-ray technician were very efficient, compassionate and all treated me with respect. It was a very positive experience.
02 October 2022 22:14
My poor elderly mother is here with low levels which according to nurse can be helped with diet…… food cart for dinner has been sitting outside the curtain at the nurses station in back of emergency for over 45minutes. Finally After asking a third time if she can have dinner they brought over ice cold water for tea and ice cold chow mein, dried up cold peas and cold rice. She can’t eat it…. Sure, let’s fix this with diet when you’re starving The patients. The other people in here still haven’t even gotten their food and it’s after 7 PM.
08 May 2022 14:53
Overall well managed, especially through the pandemic. Outpatient department is nice, too. However, some nurses and doctors did not make me feel valued as a human being.
It's disturbing how people with a sheer lack of empathy end up in such a field.
17 April 2022 10:54
I was admitted into the ER yesterday for heart palpitations which I thought were related to my first Shingrix shot a few hours earlier. I barely sat down in the waiting room before I was called in for admission. I got a bed in the hallway close to the doctor/nurse station which was totally fine as I guess the other rooms were full. The resident in training, Lindsay, was so kind and efficient as was the nurse who was helping her. The gals that took my ECG and bloodwork were also efficient and very kind. Doctor Mathew Kwok performed a portable ultrasound on my heart in the hallway but went out of his way to find a portable privacy screen. Once again, he was super kind and efficient. Nothing showed up on my tests and bloodwork but I was told someone would call me the next day to order a Holter monitor to watch my heart activity for the next 24 hours - I was called at 7: 45 AM and had an appt for 11: 30.

We've also been to this hospital's ER several times in the last 18 months with my husband and he was treated well although wait times were very long to see the on-call doctors. But that's common in all ERs I'm sure so we can't fault them. I'm glad we have such a great hospital so close to home. Thank you to all of the staff that helped us in our times of need!
14 April 2022 21:47
It was the most awful hospital I have ever been to. It is not my habit to leave reviews; however, this hospital deserves a negative review. It would be better for me to die than be subjected to the unethical practices of the Richmond Hospital.

Despite Richmond Hospital being just a few blocks away from my home, I had to go to another hospital recently for a minor emergency.
03 April 2022 3:20
I've had many bad experiences with this hospital, from being forgotten in a room in emergency (they told my mom when she came to find me after 5 hours that I had been discharged. Instead I was sitting in a room with an open wound waiting to get a dressing on it) to being sent home with a broken foot after they told me it was just sprain, and finding out days later it was an actual break. But the most recent frustration was when my aunt had a stroke and was hospitalized for 3 months here. They never once washed her hair, they never did anything more then a very basic sponge bath, they would leave food all over her face/chest for hours and she would go days before they sat her in her wheelchair (which was supposed to happen everyday for one meal). I was very disappointed with her care. So happy she's moved into a nursing home now. There were a few really good nurses, but obviously not enough.
26 March 2022 3:04
My experience delivering my daughter here was great. The staff was attentive and always available. Supplies were always restocked in the room multiple times a day and nurses were always popping in to check in on us.
19 March 2022 8:44
Had an MRI done here and the technicians were very respectful and pleasant. Highly recommend if you are claustrophobic as the machine is spacious:)
09 March 2022 17:46
I feel disappointed when I describe the ambulance department in the hospital as bad. 3 hours of waiting and I suffer from paraplegia. I could not see a doctor, not even a bed to rest from my pain from sitting in a wheelchair. This is unfortunate.
28 February 2022 12:12
I called Richmond General Hospital to follow up on my family members surgery. Operator and front desk agent were helpful and finally transferred to surgery department for more details. However, surgery repsentative quickly replies with cannot give you any information unless it's wife. Excuse me, patient is not married and no wife. Your staff member then just disconnects the phone. This is terrible service and very unprofessional. Hospital director should really coach your staff with people skills and service.

Also feedback, 5-6am parking lot entrance driveway leading to main entrance and emergency was not snow plowed. Vehicles are not able to see the lane divider/islands. Parking lot was fine.
20 February 2022 10:06
One of the worst hospitals in Vancouver. The nurses are extremely rude and behave like they don’t like patients at all. I had severe allergic reaction to my body and nurses were laughing at each other while i kept asking for a doctor. They didn’t even care to take the situation seriously at all. And whenever i asked to see a dr, they were extremely rude at me. And this is not the first time they are like these. I had faced similar incidents before with my friends and families here. I wish there were other hospitals in Richmond so that we could avoid this miserable place
17 February 2022 13:23
Very bad service given by the nurse Andrea who was in the pediatric part. She kept convincing us all the time that we should go to the family doctor and not the hospital, even though we explained several times that we only went to the hospital because our son was unable to breathe at dawn. Was I going to wait for dawn to schedule a day with a family doctor? And even came to tell me that in China it is worse. Until today you don't have the results of the exams done there.
15 February 2022 11:33
I had a good experience with this hospital.
I came in on a busy Friday night and the doctor was great from start to finish, he walked me through everything which was really helpful because it was my first time in the emergency. He then scheduled me for an ultrasound early the next morning and I found out that I had appendicitis which they were able to squeeze me in for surgery that same day. The surgeon and nurses walked me through everything that was happening and put my mind to ease as I was quite nervous and had many questions.
06 February 2022 8:49
Staff are always kind when I come here. They want the best for you and want to understand what you are going through. It is just always a long wait if you are either outside waiting to go into a room or inside waiting for someone to come check on you - you need to be really patient. Once a staff does start talking to you, they are all friendly and wants what is best for you. The nurses are kind, one time I came really late at night and fell asleep, and a nurse put a hot blanket over me to keep me warm. Your information for why you are here gets around, so you do not need to repeat yourself to every single doctor/nurse/worker that comes to check on you as they already know from the other workers which makes it efficient. When I needed to get an x-ray back in March, the guy was super friendly and made me feel comfortable as he walked me down to the x-ray room and the doctor who gave me a sling had a great friendly personality which also made me feel comfortable. The front desk lady on the same night was super kind and made me feel calm as I was nervous to be there.
19 January 2022 17:25
I asked for a covid test and they said they couldnt give me one, but why the hell does it say covid testing center? I'd assume its because i needed an appointment to make but it says "apppointment not required"? I was told to go somewhere else in the morning, like i dont have anyone else living with me who could be vulnerable to covid.anyways if u wanna die come here! Front desk person didnt even give me advice, she basically told me "boohoo go to this place in the morning and get ur test results then" ok thanks for ur support
29 December 2021 9:29
I would if I could give a negative star if possible. My granddaughter was transferred here from Children's Hospital as she was getting better and they needed the bed for another sick child. When at Richmond hospital my family was not treated with care, They gave my granddaughter the wrong medication, and she went blue and called a code red. Richmond almost killed my granddaughter, if it wasn't for my sons quick action's she would of died. They have now been transferred out of that horrible place.
20 December 2021 15:07
Phone auto-attendant advice "do not come to the hospital if you feel sick" seems anti-intuitive given that's where people go when they are sick.
17 December 2021 20:29
Very frustrating! Most of the staff are rude and don't care. Off course, there are exceptions. ER services are unbelievably way below standard including the doctors! They literally don't care. My friend went there for very high blood pressure emergency. They didn't even attach her to the BP device. No blood tests till 3 hrs and half. Are they serious? If you have a choice avoid going to Richmond ER if you don't want to be neglected in emergency case.
The department where you have the Holter is horrible! Front desk ladies are just busy chatting. Technicans ask you to take of the Holter yourself and they never sent the results to the family dr.till a month later. Emaging front office is extremely rude and aggressive. This hospital needs a real new management!
13 November 2021 10:13
Richmond Hospital staff are simply wonderful and kind people! Except one doctor. Not bad at all. MRI, Ultra Sound, x-ray departments exceptional staff.
I was so nervous about my first vaccine which was March! The nurses! Are so compassionate, gentle and supportive! Thank you Richmond General
25 October 2021 20:09
Hi my name is benny armstrong and i had the worst experience ever with this hospital. When i was picked up along in my effects with my cell phone was almost a thousand dollars which magically went missing. Transit police said they had sealed my money in my effects bag and some how my money dissappeared said the ambulance driver. He said to me well maybe the bag wasnt sealed proper. Im so livid right now. I have an investigation being launched over it. Tomorrow the lead investigator is getting involved.

Minoru Park is a pleasant place to sit and relax and watch the ducks geese and squirrels and occasionally an owl.
04 October 2021 19:30
Worst surgery experience ever. The day before surgery I went for blood work and an ECG. The man taking my blood and the woman doing my ECG have to be the most cold people I have ever met. The man didn't even talk to me, he was quite rough and he bruised my arm for 2 days. Then the woman doing my ECG grabbed me by the shoulder and pushed me down when she thought I was going to take my shirt off and that REALLY upset me.
Then on the day of surgery I was kept waiting for over 2 hours due to staff shortages. In that two hours MULTIPLE staff, patients and visitors were walking around without masks. They force them on you at the door but no one enforces that you wear them.
On top of that I found 90% of the staff to he impersonal and uncaring (due to their staff shortage but that's not my fault). I made everyone aware I have anxiety and ptsd around surgery due to the loss of a child and hardly anything was done to make the experience more comfortable for me. They allowed my husband to be in the recovery room with me but I had to be the one to call him even though I had no idea where I was (and was in the middle of a panic attack).
Now it's been a couple days since my surgery and I am progressively getting more sore. I have charlie horses from the base of my skull down to my ankles. My throat is also becoming more swollen and sore as well. This did not happen to me after the last two surgeries I've undergone and I honestly feel like these people were so rough with me while I was unconscious.
Unless you enjoy cold, unpleasant, impersonal, uncaring, unfriendly, rushed staff that don't respect your mental health needs and who make you feel like a burden I absolutely do not reccomended Richmond General for surgery.
11 September 2021 20:07
Went here after a car accident with head trauma and was given an off brand Tylenol and told to come back if I got worse. I was already confused and slurring my words when I left. Turns out I had a concussion, couldn't read for about a week and still have memory problems almost a year later. Better off just going to the pharmacy and getting yourself the brand name Tylenol and hope for the best.
09 September 2021 21:10
Went to Emergency and had to wait 5 hours before a Doctor could see my eye (got something in my eye)
Saw an old man sitting besides me in the waiting area bleeding because of injuries on his face, no body attended him for 2 hours. Man should have patched himself up instead.
05 September 2021 19:08
I have a wonderful experience from this hospital. They examined me right away after I arrived at the emergency room! They needed to remove my appendix, so they scheduled my surgery the next day, a very nice team of nurses who took care of me last weekend, thank you, and of course big thanks to my amazing surgeon Dr. Jason Faulds and other doctors who were very kind and careful with me during operation! A lot of thanks! I am very grateful for having such an amazing team of nurses and doctors around me these few days!
31 August 2021 13:55
Very cold blood hospital, there is only one doctor and the front desk has one of the worst attitude that i ever see, i went to the hoapital twice, they cant figure out thing and send me home without any treatment and pills even i told them i was so painful that i didnt eat anythings for 6 days ,if patient say that you probably should give him some glucose, they just simply dont care they didnt care about the patient and want to pay money immeditely, the ambluance wont come after 2 hours and I ask doctor water for 3 times or I will be dehyrated to death, but no one serve me, I drink the water from washroom to make sure I wont die. To cut the cost, they dont even do the proper blood test, there is only a small one use your finger tip blood. What kinds of hospital is this? I was having issue to breath and they dont even try anything and send me home. Try vancouver general hospital, thats way better. At least you more likely not die at that, canada's hospital are so bad, they should rebuild the whole system from scratcht
The states' hospital will actually ask you to pay AFTER you get treatment not when you are dying in bed, and they will actually treat you, my expenrise are so awful, I vould literally die at any moment last week. Dont go to this hospital unless you dont have a choice, if you are sick maybe move to somewhere close to VGH
22 August 2021 12:15
Extremely rude and unqualified staff. Everytime I need to visit or contact this hospital it reminds me how little trust I have of them if I have a real health emergency. Last time I was in emergency the nurses were so unprofessional, that an off duty nurse came in to gossip and chat with my attending nurse before her shift, my terribly unqualified DR then came in and started talking about social justice issues and her political ideologies while not really focusing on my medical treatment. Now today I needed some records and the woman in the records department was rude, unhelpful and the most unprofessional medical employee I've seen in a long time. Her explanations were all medical jargon using terms only employees would understand and upon requesting clarification she literally hung up on me and then refused to answer further calls. Clearly she was likely hired to meet some progressive diversity quota as opposed to her ability to do her job effectively. But then again seems like the entire hospital is a make a work program.
08 August 2021 21:52
If I could give this hospital a zero, I would. I checked into the emergency room a few nights ago with trouble breathing and coughing. The wait room was full of people. I sat there waiting for 3 hours all the while watching countless people leave due to the wait time to see a doctor. When I was finally called to go in I had already waited 4 hours. They set me up in a room a told me to wait and that I was the first in line to see a doctor. I waited another 2 hours before a nurse came in and told me to go home because all they had was one doctor on duty and they had more serious cases in front of me. So they wasted a total of 6hrs of my time and the entire night and early morning just to tell me this. My condition got worse when I got home so I went to VGH where the wait wasn't as long.only 3 hrs before a I saw a doctor who told me I needed surgery to repair an undiagnosed leaky heart valve. They checked me in and ran all the test in less time than it took for me to wait at the insufferable Richmond hospital. Thanks to the staff and doctors and the much more competent and efficient VGH. I swear I will never trust my life ever again to those useless sacks at Richmond hospital.
26 July 2021 0:54
Returned Canadian went to emergency to get catheterization. Was charged 1130 dollars for that. Receptionist is a rude thief. May all her chickens die.
25 July 2021 20:44
We would like to express big gratitude to staff of Richmond hospital in ER unit for their wonderful service that my wife has received during our short trip to Vancouver. We noticed that the staffs of ER unit were very well organized, streamlining the intake, to waiting time and having the nurses and doctor being very efficient with communications, procedures without sacrificing empathy and compassion to patients. We were impressed with this streamline procedures and believe based on our experiences with ER in other facility, Richmond Hospital should set a standard and manual for other hospitals to adopt. We were in and out of the ER in less in than 2 hours as opposed to 8 hours in other ER centres we previously experienced. Once again thank you for your excellent, and efficient clinical services.
25 July 2021 1:17
I don’t understand why it’s always seems like there is only one doctor in this hospital, I promised my self I’ll never go to emergency again but last night my 2 years old son has a high fever, and I tried to Cole him at home but I was a bit worried, so I took him to Richmond hospital, the emergency room was almost empty, no patients maybe only three patients in the waiting area, and just a few in side, we had to wait almost 3hours and no doctor yet.
I understand it’s not a live threatening situation but after waiting my son started fell well because the Madison start to kick on I left the hospital and I did not see a doctor, and they saw my leaving they didn’t even bother to ask me why or where you’re going?
15 July 2021 22:55
Rude nurses/doctors. Got kicked out of the hospital and was threatened, and called security on me for going around the hospital to find a mask.

Had our first baby in Richmond hospital in May of this year. The entire staff at the birth center was just terrific! All the nurses, doctors and support staff were extremely helpful, caring and attentive. Giving birth at Richmond Hospital was the best decision Thank you so much entire Birth center team. We (my spouse & I) will remember each and everyone of you for rest of our life

Very unprofessional in the emergency department. I over heard an hour long gossip group about all their patients “didn’t wanna help him so I sent him to another hospital”
And things like “she was whiny because he had a headache. ” Followed by laughter.
They also wouldn’t let me use an extra blanket or pillow and watched me shiver trying to burying under my jacket while waiting for them.
If you’re not dying- make a trip to a different hospital.

Horrible experience with my recent major surgery at this hospital with the night time ICU staff. Especially Nurse Winnie and Vivian. One had the audacity to tell me in her own words " I am not an ICU patient therefore I do not get ICU care" What is that to say to someone who just had major surgery the night prior? Vivian would not listen to me at all with regards to my pain level even making an effort to mock me saying I didn't know how to use the drip machine when you can CLEARLY hear a sound when you click it to let you know the medication was being dispensed but did not work.

Both have huge egos and not a single empathetic bone in their body. They should NOT be nurses let alone be nurses in INTENSIVE CARE.

Day nurse in ICU was a lot better, and when I got transferred to the Surgical wing before the 3rd night the care was 1000 times better from ACTUAL nurses who CARE about people. I was only transferred there because I refused to stay a 3rd night at ICU and threatened to walk out of the hospital after night 2 of my surgery due to the lack of care and respect I received during my ordeal here.

I really wish management would get in touch with me, because I have videos that I took, as well as memos I wrote on my phone after each incident so I would not forget.

Thank god, the rest of the wings are actually staffed by caring doctors and nurses, it's just very ironic that the patients in need of the MOST care in INTENSIVE CARE are greeting by absolutely awful human beings who work the night shift.

Had the best care at the Cancer Center, Laboratory, Radiology, Cardiology, Pulmonary and Front desk staff.
Thank you for the kind and prompt service.

The worst hospital on the planet-no exaggeration. I called to inquiry some medical treatment in the hospital, the operator could not wait to hang up the phone because "it's very busy time". And she did before I finished my sentence. Is it a busy to to serve patients or a busy time to hang up the phone on patients? Irresponsible, incapable, and useless.

Great group of staff at the maternity unit! They went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of. Thanks again!

Amazing staff at the maternity ward at Richmond Hospital! Me and and my wife spent 6 days there with our newborn and the staff went above and beyond. From the beginning they gave us all the information we needed and always provided support when we needed it. Special thanks to Dorothy, Louise, harmeet, shally, Erin and debrah and every other nurse. Overall amazing experience. Can’t wait to see you guys in 3 years (:

Violet Hung is a terrible doctor and a disgusting human being. I'm filing a complaint with the college of physicians against her.

Had to get health certificate for travel, person didn't even give me 30 seconds to explain situation/reason. Very rude front desk, just talks over you and hangs up very fast.

I was hospitalized on June 2nd with a 90% blockage on my LAD. I was received in emergency and received excellent support from Thor. Early morning I was moved to 2S were I was monitored until June 4 when I was taken to VGH for angioplasty. Returned on the same day and next day I was sent home with my heart reset! Surreal! Every body treated me well and I have to commend Thor from emergency and DR Tam. On unit 2S Jennifer and Upa made me feel important and helped me when needed. Dr Skalska followed up. I thank all the personnel of the hospital for a job well done under difficult circumstances

My sister had a minor procedure scheduled on March 13th in RGH. We checked in the Green zone around 12: 00 pm at the reception. My sister had a face mask on and the ckerk was so rude to my sister. The clerk raised her voice and said "Why did you wear a mask. Are you sick? ". Everybody was listening, it was so embarrassing. I said to the clerk that she is a cancer patient. The clerk then then back off and said I'm not a nurse, I don't know. My sister took off her mask and sat in the waiting room. Do the patient need hospital staff's permission to wear a face mask?

I still can't believe this is a real medical facility.

I was in such pain trying to explain what was wrong with me, tears were rolling down my face, and my voice was shaky.and the male nurse bursts out laughing. He was like "oh not you, one of my coworkers said something funny". I sat there literally stunned by this, missed one of his questions and he basically yelled at me like he was losing his patience. He then walks over to one of the nurses and I hear them whispering "she looked fine when she got here, probably just faking it".

I left of course, which for some reason they found surprising, tried to get home. But I collapsed from the pain in the lobby of my building, and someone called an ambulance and I ended up back there. What a nightmare. I feel terrible for other people that have been humiliated by RGH. Go anywhere else, just not there.

If you’re black and go through emergency with a concussion, just know they will tell you to take it easy. No test, no blood work, urine, x-ray or scan. It’s been a few weeks and still not feeling right. No health care worker takes it seriously.

Waiting is painfully long and it seems to be no doctor available everytime were here. Im so disappointed on their waiting time. Hospital should focus more to their patient. Were gonna start looking for a better hospital. I don't recommed coming here in any kind of treatment specially emergency situation.

I think this is the best hospital i have visited in terms of care. There are a lot of bad reviews for this hospital maybe those people should visit surrey memorial then they will give 5 stars for Richmond hospital.

Had chest pain, difficulty breathing, so they tossed me into an empty waiting room. Ended up in there for like 5 hours there clutching my chest and gasping for air.

Don't let the empty waiting room fool you. It's because anyone with an option goes to literally any other hospital in the lower mainland. It doesn't mean your wait will be short. If you value your health go to VGH or any other hospital

Pay parking. Not on rapid transit but central location. Older building for wards. Definitely needs upgrading. Down right depressing. First class imaging and outpatient departments. Awesome staff. Easy hospital to get around. Busy emergency. Starbucks in lobby.

Friendly staff. Clean rooms and beds. Quick service (compared to other hospitals). Parking is so so.
