Riverway Clubhouse

I’ve been here years ago for my cadet awards ceremony and loved the dining experience and ambience.

We had our wedding reception at Riverway this past August and they did such a spectacular job! Bradley was helpful from the beginning of the planning process. Even in the midst of a super busy wedding season, he made us feel like he was never too busy to help us. He was so accommodating with our last minute changes and requests, and replied to our emails in a kind and timely manner. Our guests kept raving about the delicious food and beautiful indoor & outdoor space. Bradley and his team’s hard work should not go unnoticed. Thank you for making our dream wedding come true!

What an odd location, with very little identity. Very sterile, you would have no idea you're in a golf club. The restaurant/bar area is more like the lobby of a hotel where some tables have been set up. The decor is very bland, you would expect being in a golf club to carry on that theme. No golf pictures or memorabilia. Odd range of music from elevator tunes to Disney themes. The food was mixed in quality. Our group shared wings, calamari, yam and regular fries. Average at best. I followed with Chef J's burger, which was very good. If I'd played a round of golf I might stay for a quick drink, but with the Cactus Club only a few blocks away, I'd probably relocate.

We came for a Burnaby Blues & Roots event with the Steve Kozak band performing. The music was absolutely amazing! Top Notch! The buffet meal included in the ticket was very tasty as well. There was a dance floor and an opportunity to grab a few drinks or bottle of wine and watch the sunset over the golf course. The only drawback was that they never dimmed the lights to give it a more intimate ambiance. It was like watching a great blues band in the cafeteria of a high school/university.

My wife and I just got married yesterday, and this was our venue for reception. All the kitchen staff and servers did a wonderful job cooking the meals and attending to everyone. All of our guests loved the food.

The venue itself is spacious and very comfortable. It offers many opportunities as well for photography on the patio as well as in front, in the lobby area and of course the dining area itself.

The coordinator, Bradley, did an awesome job answering all my emails (which were like 20 to 30). He kept me up to date on every little thing I asked and explained everything to us in depth.

I would rate it 6 stars if I could.

Visited the Golf Range. Very clean and brand new balls compared to the other Gold Ranges I have been to in Vancouver area.

Pro shop staff are friendly and efficient.

Would love to play a round of golf here and next time perhaps visit the Restaurant Bar.

They have a nice patio area to enjoy the outdoors when weather permits in Vancouver area

Highly recommend Riverway if you are considering them for your wedding. Buget, food and atmosphere is on point! Bradley and his team were so awesome and helpful. Bradley would answer any and all of my endless questions. Unfortunately, the weather decided to rain on the day of our wedding, but Bradley and his team was able to act quickly and help rearrange our ceremony site. They made sure that each chair was dry for my guests. Despite the rain, our ceremony was beautiful thanks to them and my other vendors. Not only is the venue naturally beautiful, the food is delicious! I heard nothing but positive comments from my guests! We are so glad we had our wedding with Riverway!

We had a farewell lunch at this beautiful restaurant. The scenery was beautiful and the food was delicious.

Went here for a large banquet for 200 people. The venue is stunning and the service was great. The food I had was great, no complaints from our table. It was a set menu so didn’t try their regular menu but may come back to have a look.

Wonderful facility - took my elderly mother for lunch and we weren't disappointed. Food was good, service was excellent and of course there is the golf. Great for a group, wedding, other special occasions, or just to try a different setting when in the NewWest South Burnaby areas.

As a wedding photographer, I had the pleasure of working at the Riverway Clubhouse and it was an absolute delight. The venue is spectacular and architecturally stunning, making for a truly unique and memorable setting for any wedding. The floor-to-ceiling windows not only allow for ample natural light but also provide breathtaking views of the lush green surroundings.

The venue's design is perfect for capturing stunning photos of the happy couple and their guests. The wood-beamed ceiling and elegant decor make for a charming backdrop, while the natural light flooding in creates a soft and romantic ambiance.

We had our wedding at Riverway on March 19,2023 and it went absolutely incredible.
Not only is the venue beautiful, but Bradley and the staff were all very helpful; they were accommodating and patient with us. We made so many changes to our plan, but they were so great to accommodate us and never made us feel ignored.

We hosted our wedding at Riverway and were happy with them from start to finish. It is an absolutely stunning venue and we loved getting to have the ceremony, dinner and dance all in one place. So many of our guests commented on the delicious food and wine selections. The service staff were wonderful. The whole event ran smoothly thanks to the amazing team at Riverway.

Wished we could do half stars for review. Anyways, came here for my first dine out of 2023 as I've always wanted to try out their dine out food. I thought the food was just ok but I was quite full as they give a pretty generous portion. Tables are spaciously laid out and restaurant have high ceilings.

2023 January - lunch review
We booked a table for Sunday expecting them to be busy.when we arrived at 11: 30am for our reservations. We were the only people there.

The menu is simplified with mostly burgers, salads, etc

We ordered
Beef Dip
Salmon and avocado Burger with Tomato Soup
Bacon Burger with fries
And Hot and Pepper Chicken Wings

Our favourite is the Chicken Wings, so crunchy and tasty.

The salmon and Avo burger was wonderful and my mother in law also love their tomato soup.

Beef dip with Au Jus was tender and the bread toasted held up over the juice from the prime rib slices inside.

The server is great, since there was only our table and surprisingly no one is there.

The parking lot is full on a rainy day, but with our weather so warm, the golfers are all out in droves.

Atmosphere is serene overlooking the golf course.

Highly suggest reservations online. This restaurant is run by the City of Burnaby.

2019 July - Dinner review.

This Restaurant is located inside the public golf course. Hardest part is getting a reservation as it looks like they don’t turn their table, so only one seating.

Try out the 3 course dinner, food is great and good deal for 3 courses. $29 for Appetizer, Steak and Lobster and dessert.

Nice and quiet spot for lunch, nice food, friendly service.

Took my parents out here for dineout and it did not disappoint!
Bacon potato leek soup, Sablefish entree, and Panna cotta were my top faves. All dishes had large quantities. The ambience was quiet and very nice

Went here for a celebration of life. The sandwiches, veggies, deserts were great. The waiters were quick and polite. The clubhouse is super nice and you can watch people finish the 18th.

We really wanted to try beef Wellington so this was our choice of restaurants from dine out festival. Booking was not easy as the place seemed to be a popular dine out place so book ahead. Parking is plenty so no worries there. Best food for us turned out to be the leek soup which was warm and hearty. Bread bowl was nice and really went well with the soup. Overall, experience was pretty good as the portion size also presented to be quite enough. Only downside was actually the beef wellington as the meat was not tender but really tough.

2nd Dine Out Vancouver 2023. $55 3 courses dinner. Seafood taster is fresh and tasty. Bacon Potato Leek Soup quite big portion with strong favour. I got half full already. Beef Wellington is not tender enough for me. Miso Glazed Sablefish is must and you will not regret. Coconut panna cotta with very rich milky favour. Portion is big enough for 2. The Lemon Tart with raspberry sorbet is too sweet for me. Atmosphere is good and table distances is far enough under COVID. Highly recommended!

Dineout 2023 - disappointing experience.
It was our first experience (outside of weddings) and specifically for the dineout menu.
The seating (tables) was awkwardly set-up/placed. There was a lot of space (empty space in the main hall) and the tables were lined up in a boxy format. I felt very out of place in it all.
While this isn't very important, I only note it because it can affect the overall dining experience for guests.

The food was not incredible. It wasn't something we couldn't get elsewhere for a much cheaper price. In fact, it was just as expensive ordering the items separately here if we didn't go the 'dineout' experience. What it felt like was buying a regular priced meal and the dessert was thrown in as a free treat. That's not dineout. Of course, this could be a subjective point. Generally, the dineout menu isn't part of the regular menu. At least, that's how I remember the origins of dineout Vancouver from a couple decades ago. And what about the slogan, "dineout for life"? I'm not sure anyone really advertises it anymore - why should we support this annual event. But I digress.

The food was unimpressive. The Wellington steak did not 'wow' us. We felt that there was no effort in elevating the taste of the steak. It was something we could replicate easily. In fact, we thought 'the keg' world do a better job.
The Sablefish tasted cheap. Both main dishes appeared to rely a lot on sauces/spices to create a more acceptable taste.

We added a couple of drinks (both a cocktail and mocktail). No comment about the mocktail but the peach cocktail tasted good.

We thought that the desserts were poorly made. Maybe it was created in a huge batch so the quality wasn't closely examined. We just didn't want to eat it after a couple bites.

Having had this experience, I believe the standards for this restaurant are below expectations.

The perk is plenty of free parking. Service appears to be normal - not outstanding. I overheard the same waitress asking the table next to us for feedback but ignored us. Though, if I had to give the feedback written here, I probably wouldn't have been so direct.

I believe some work needs to be done here before embarking on the dineout experience again.
