A bit of an odd school really. Very small for the population it serves, it's bizarre that the school district didn't forsee the suburbs growing exponentially beyond the 90s. There's no real eating area for students so a lot eat on the floor. One of the teachers comes off as racist but is never very overt about it, a good example would be having a class activity outside but making the students of Indian descent stay inside. During sexual education a Christian religious group was brought in to talk to us about abstinence, which is essentially telling someone the safest way to cut a piece of paper is to never cut paper. I never took part in it myself but this same teacher would do a "privilege walk" where she lines you up on the field and tells you to step forward or backwards depending on any personality or physical traits that will negatively or positively affect you in life. The issue with this is she's forcing you to out yourself about having mental health issues, and other personal subjects to your classmates. You'll also be shamed by her for identifying as male and being white. While the subject of this lesson is something of a heated subject today, I don't believe it's okay to make students feel bad for who they were born as or how they identify. The real kicker with this though is that there isn't anybody to complain to as a student, in the eyes of the administration you'll always be a student just trying to get a teacher you don't like in trouble and they won't take you seriously because of it. The career counselor is almost never present. I know a former student who had been diagnosed with A. D. D.and the counselors told them that they would never be able to graduate highschool because of that, really stellar work there as someone who is supposed to help students out. Like a lot of other reviews have mentioned the football and rugby programs recieve a ridiculous amount of funding. While I don't think any students know the numbers, it's very obvious when the band and broadcasting programs in the middle school across the field have better quality production. I won't say anything about bullying as I understand how difficult it can be to prove anything, but when I was attending not enough was being done to deter it beyond just talking about how it's bad and you shouldn't do it. I'm just hoping that somebody higher up the chain of command can see this and maybe enact some meaningful change at the school. A lot of these other reviews raise some good points as well.

My main problem with this school is that most of the budget is focused on the football team. I wish that some of that money went into some of the arts programs or the actual education. Most teachers have to pay for a lot of classroom supplies from their own pay check, most of the teachers are really nice and make learning fun though. The school is is pretty safe and is in a good neighbourhood too. Overall pretty good, a lot better than most Abbotsford schools.
