Took a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer from Banff to Vancouver. It really is an experience, once in a lifetime kinda feel. You travel through some of the most beautiful countryside while being looked after by top rate staff. First class food and drinks with no limit. Breakfast and lunch is served on the train, cooked fresh by a team of wonderful chefs. Along with sight seeing, we heard stories of the different parts of Canada, its history and people. It is a breathtaking trip.

A very cool experience! Great way to spend a few hours, though the batteries in the VR headset died for at least half a dozen people. The staff were quick to replace but it’s a bit of an interruption.

We had a really amazing 2-day train journey from Vancouver to Banff, with an overnight stop in Kamloops. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable - talking about the scenery that we were passing through, as well as the history of the railways it's operating over. We were also kept well plied with food and drink featuring local produce from the regions we were traversing. The food was freshly prepared on the train.

The entire Rocky Mountaineer trip from Vancouver B. C.to Banff Alberta was amazing! I recommend booking this once in a lifetime trip; late spring or early summer before forest fire season. The smoke from the fires, clouds the mountain tops. Many people predict that Canada has only 12 years left before our forests are completely burned. This trip let's you safely see our forests before their gone.

Great trip to Banff from Vancouver. Very clean train with nice staff onboard. The meals and drinks were so fancy and delicious. The best gift to celebrate class of 2022 and do something I wanted to do when I was a little boy.

It was also awesome to explore how geography changes across BC and the highlight of the trip were the two spiral tunnels.

Also, I had a lot of fun talking to my fellows and Tina reading a poem about the overall trip was 100/10.

Highly recommend adding this train to your bucket list especially if like trains and travelling.

Thanks to Tina, Clayton, Ryan and Daria.

If you are considering this venue for an event function, I would not recommend.

While the venue itself is physically unique and provides a beautiful setting for the event - the staff and event management team are incredibly difficult to work with. In the entire time I was dealing with BC Events Management team, I did not get a single straight forward answer about anything. The events team were not clear about the cost of using the space and hosting an event there, and even further they would avoid answering questions about additional costs. Yes or no questions were met with evasive answers. Out of all the vendors I worked with, this was the most exhausting and frustrating experience. Our event happened in the Summer of 2022, and the team still charged us for COVID-19 related charges.even though there were no public health guidelines to enforce at the time. When we first booked, I explicitly asked about these charges and was told they would be reconsidered in accordance with whatever public health guidelines are applicable at the time of the event. When asked about this, the manager then said these fees would now be allocated to "other staffing" charges.

All in all, I found the person I worked with to be deceitful and withholding of relevant and important information. There was no transparency. When I asked for documents and budgets to be updated to reflect our conversations, it was swept under the rug in the same evasive, round-about way that all questions were answered.

10/10 do not recommend.

All you would expect and more. On train experience was awesome. Logistics and organization each day was amateur hour…sorry to say. Ownership needs to address the poor execution of simple tasks…like registration for instance. Very frustrating at times.

Totally disorganised. From the staff on the platform.
Hundreds of passengers crammed into a small space inside on the platform.
Shocking when Covid is still around.

Nice venue for special events. Big and airy, but given the wrong layout even it can feel cramped.

Its complicated.the on the train food and service and the bus tours are first class. We both got ill on last leg of trip and were isolated and spent next 5 days in Quarantine.we are triple VAXED. The handling of our time in Quarantine was terrible.after quarantine they simply did not inform us of space on the train to go home though we paid for a round trip. We flew home. We are currently seeking refunds.i will edit this.when they get back to us. They simply left us at the train station as the saying goes. But my message Covid as of June 22 is still around.and make your choice carefully.spectacular holiday though. But i paid for a 7 day round trip and did not get it.poor communication once quarantined

This was a hard review to write. There were parts of our tour we absolutely loved, and others that were lacking tremendously. Overall, before going into the train experience, the views you will have just by being on the railway and seeing the natural beauty of BC and Alberta are breathtaking. You also get to experience things like the Spiral Tunnels that you won’t have by driving. So that alone makes the train worth doing once in your lifetime.

So starting with the likes. First off, the train cars themselves where you will be spending your day are well apportioned, well designed and quite comfortable to spend a day on the rails. The food on the train is also, amazing, especially given you are on a train. I’d recommend then Soufle for breakfast and the Port Chop for lunch. The snacks throughout the trip that are provided are also amazing. The hotels they have partnered with, including in Kamloops are all great. And given that they move your luggage between hotels and organise the tours in each city (like Jasper, Banff, etc.) it is an easy vacation.

Now for the dislikes/misses. I would say a lot of your experience on the train comes down to the train hosts. First off, in Gold Leaf, despite their commitment to four hosts per train, that wasn’t the case, likely due to challenges in staffing. And on one legs of our trip, from Vancouver to Jasper, the hosts were all with Rocky Mountaineer for 3 months or less so the quality of the stories suffered, as did the quality of the drinks. On the Banff to Vancouver route we had a host with 11 years of experience, and you could taste the difference but also there was way more stories that were on point. Another obvious miss was in Vancouver on the bus from the hotel to the train. They had a host on the bus who seemed like they should know the details of Vancouver, but pointed our numerous things incorrectly (easy to tell when you live here) but also whom didn’t seem to know how to use a microphone. Finally in Banff they had one agent doing check ins for the return trip. But there was over 100 people to check in so most of that evening was wasted in line when they offer “online checkin” (which the agent told us wasn’t valid for reasons unknown).

A few changes I would make doing it again is add extra days in Jasper and Lake Louise. Being there for only one night doesn’t seem like enough time. It will also give you time to recharge as the train and tour buses almost every day can be draining and just having a day to rest here and there are beneficial.

Also, make sure to bring your own snacks (as hunger can strike at odd times like on a bus) and be ready for the unexpected. Our train got delayed in Boston Bar due to a police incident ahead and we spent many hours just waiting in the train. They keep the food and drink coming but the communications seemed a little lacking. Especially when they said the train manager had to walk a couple of kilometres into town to get info. I would expect they would have a satellite phone on board in case of emergencies.

We really really enjoyed our train trip from Banff to Vancouver BC. In Vancouver station, we forgot our hand bag in the parking lot, when getting into the taxi. Our most important papers such as passport and so forth, along with other expensive things were in that bag. We are so grateful to the Rocky Mountaineer staff. They discovered our bag and we got that with everything in it. Millions of thanks to them. They Rock!

What an absolutely spectacular venue to host a wedding function. I attended my cousin’s wedding reception here over the weekend and I was blown away. The venue allows for ample space for outdoor cocktail hour and an immensely large space for indoor set up. The washrooms are conveniently located and the staff did a tremendous job in ensuring guests were taken care of.

Could do a lot better job in arranging the arrival of buses in order to do a better job in disembarking and loading of the train cars.

Lack of communication. Front office sells you a trip and they are gone. Not there to explain anything about your agenda. It was sent by email for you to follow. A lot of confusion. Train ride is best if you're a gold traveler. Meals were good on the train. Canada is beautiful but best seen by car.

Not much here, just a starting point for the train in a rather down beat part of Vancover. A piper provides a bit of "glamour" The real adventure is the train itself which is fantastic.

What a great trip! Learned so much after having been a veteran mountain western Canada traveller. Lots of neat facts and trivia and history mentioned along the way. The hosts are great about filling in gaps and adding “colour” of stories and historical events that happened along the way. Good that is served is of very high quality and presentation is very good. Service on trip is excellent!
The people were a huge part of making the trip even a better experience.
Well worth the cost.
We travelled from Vancouver to Kamloops to Banff then shuttled up the IceFields to Lake Louise had lunch over looking the spellbinding lake views. Like out of a travel magazine! Louise was still frozen but there is never a bad day to be there. Worked our way up to Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and had a great meal. Like I mean great! And then returned on a slightly different route from Jasper on the Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops to Vancouver. A different perspective from Kamloops to Vancouver as we were on different train tracks on the return journey.
Overall exceeded expectations!

Cannot fault the experience at all. Tyler & Grant were amazing hosts & it was a very informative trip. Food is wonderful & the boys attended to our ever need before we even needed it. Would recommend it to all & hopefully they would enjoy it too

Joined the Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper to Vancouver. It was an unforgettable experience. Sat in comfort, looking at spectacular scenery whilst being well supplied with food and drink. Who could want anything more. Our hosts Chris, Robert, Darren and Rebecca were excellent. This trip was booked in 2019 and at times I thought it would never happen. It was well worth the wait
