Saanich Dental Group

I recently visited this establishment and encountered some issues with the billing process. Despite double-checking the coverage of my insurance, certain services were promoted to me that were not covered or not fully covered. When inquiring about the increased cost of a routine cleaning, one of the front desk staff members offered to explain the situation. However, her tone, facial expressions, and body language were impolite and made me feel uncomfortable.

While I understand the explanation provided and the reasons for the additional costs, I found the manner in which it was communicated to be unprofessional. When I asked if they could inform me of any additional costs before proceeding with the service, I was met with a dismissive response along the lines of "it's not our responsibility to inform you, as we have many customers to attend to. "

I hope that in the future, the staff at this establishment can communicate in a more courteous and professional manner to prevent other customers from experiencing similar discomfort.

This morning I was lucky to have another visit with Dr Sukan Nip and her assistant Jenna. (a Crown preparation and filling)

I continue to be very impressed with their care and explanations and pass along my warm thanks.

They are both the best in the business as far as I'm concerned.

In fact, congratulations to all of SDG. They're an important and treasured part of our community.

Could not be more happy with my experiences at the Saanich Dental Group! I’ve seen many of the staff and they’re honestly all wonderful. Today I had an appointment with Dr. Compton and Mariela and it was excellent! I had a discoloured front tooth, which I’ve been insecure about for years, and Dr Compton made it look perfectly corrected! I am so grateful for the team at SDG!

Went to SDG for the first time today. My hygienist was awesome! She was meticulous and did an excellent job. The dentist was great too! I felt that everyone was professional with their approach. I also appreciate that the office uses the state-of-the-art facility and equipment. I recommend trying out SDG for your next dental appointment!

Hands down one of or if not the best dental group I've ever been to. I use to have immense fear when going to a dentist that my teeth suffered.

Beautiful dental office! I took my 91 year old mum to get a filling replaced- she was so nervous about going after a few years but was overjoyed with how relaxing the whole experience was. Excellent service from the moment we entered.

Our family of 4 all love SDG! All the staff are so friendly and accommodating and I really trust the care we receive here. I’m a very nervous patient (and probably very hard to work on!) but they are so good to me and very communicative about what’s happening and what I can expect. Highly recommend this office!

I used to be dentist phobic until I found Saanich Dental. Kind, understanding and take their time to make you feel comfortable. They listen to your needs and fears and adjust accordingly. I highly recommend going and trying them out. Trudy and the front office staff are beyond helpful, Dr. Sean Compton is fantastic and takes his time until I am ready to commit to treatments, and Pamela! She is a rockstar Hygenist. All staff are so great. You won't be disappointed.

My family and I have been going here for years, and we are all very happy to remain. Everyone is super friendly, the front-end staff is efficient and lovely to interact with, and all the dental professionals are excellent at their jobs. Communication is always stellar, and I have always felt very safe there even since covid.

Our whole family goes to SDG, and I'm so glad we discovered the practice. Having been to many different dentists over the years, here is what I appreciate about this place.

One, Dr. Nip was incredibly gentle and engaging with our 6 year old. She has never feared going to the dentist and loves the experience.

Two, my wife tends to be very particular about hygienists, and has nothing but great things to say.

Finally, I've had several checkups, and cleanings there as well - and I'm very happy with the service. Specifically, how painless the cleanings are, and how easy the whole process from booking to payment is.

Went to get a root canal done as it was an emergency and my dentist didn't have time. Not only was the dentist rude, they did extra work I didn't ask for! And the work they did was so bad I'm going to have to get another root canal to fix it! My partner, who has been going there for 10 years, mentioned my issues to the office. They sent a LETTER stating they could no longer see her as they stand behind their dentists.so if you have an issue don't tell them or they will kick you out! There are lots of dentist in Victoria, do yourself a favor and use one of them. These guys

The name sounds very ordinary, Saanich Dental Group, but this is not an ordinary dental office.

The professional administrative staff are very friendly and helpful, and the dental team is compassionate and very skilled. I like that the dentists tell me what they’re going to be doing before they do it and communicate very well. The workmanship has been beyond expectation. And when I have had dental emergencies in off hours, my dentist has always been available to determine what action we need to take.

I have had a lot of dental work that was necessary and have serious anxiety. I am impressed with the caring approach they have shown me. They do everything possible to make the appointment comfortable and are open to suggestions for that. My dentist knows the challenges I have and always begins with a bit of conversation before beginning. I think I am a challenging patient and I have nothing but good to say about this dental office and their staff.

I have been a client of Saanich Dental Group since my wife and I moved to Victoria in 2001. SDG brings together a team of wonderfully skilled dentists, hygienists and administrators. They have the state-of-the-art equipment. They are part of a network of other specialists in case of more complex or complementary treatment needs. They are the best dental team that I have had in my lifetime.

My wife and I have been going to the Saanich dental group for over 40 years. Of course it was a different name back when we started with Dr. Jim Grier. The hygenisists are great and the dentists are fabulous. One notable feature is that freezing and drilling are literally painless. A GREAT place.

I have been a patient for 40 years since I was a toddler, my parents are still patients and now my kids are patients too. I have always appreciated their laid back friendly atmosphere. Great staff, very informative when faced with any sort of decision making. I'd highly recommend them!

Sure Saanich Dental is a very professional group. More important to me, is they go out of their way way to keep you happy and healthy. I like to minimize my exposure to drugs and antibiotics and found they were happy to accommodate my wishes. I have five dental implants done by Doctor Compton several years ago. I can say it proved a great recommendation and I am extremely happy with the results.

Dr. Sukan Nip and my hygienist Pamela have taken great care of me for several years. They are great - the whole office is great!

As a kid I dreaded dental appointments and so Dr. Nip has had to do several crowns and a root canal as a result. I began Invisalign treatments this year and am stunned at how easy and affordable it is. I didn't realize how much it changed my teeth until I saw the clay model of how my teeth were last year. The change was so gradual and painless.

For over 40 years my teeth were a mess but I now have a great smile that is healthy! No pain! Amazing.

My experience with Saanich Dental Group has been exemplary. My youngest daughter has had to have several fillings as well as a tooth extraction in the past 2 weeks - and the process has been smooth for me as well as supportive for her.
Dealing with booking appointments and all of my questions via email the staff has been fantastic - the dentist herself also answered several of my questions I emailed in regarding the extraction - and even included pictures for reference. The emergency appointments were booked quickly, and questions regarding extended health were answered clearly.
In dealing with my daughter, both the dentist and the hygienist explained each process step so she would know what to expect, showed her the tools they would use, and the hygienist even rubbed her shoulder while she received the freezing needle, which she found very comforting.

Super easy process to book an appointment. The front desk person I spoke with was really helpful and friendly. I was also impressed by how diligent they are being with their Covid-19 safety measures.

Our family has been with Saanich Dental for many years. We are extremely happy with the service we have received. We've been there for our boys 1st dental visit and more complicated procedures with always excellent service.

Excellent staff, very professional and seems to always be on top of having the latest equipment and latest information. On more than one occasion they have explained causes of problems or suggested alternatives that at least feel to me like better information than I have been offered at other dentists I have been to. The hygienist I go to is vastly more thorough and dedicated than any I have ever been to before.

Both Dr. Compton and Dr. Nip are very light-handed, and all the treatments I've had were up to the highest standard of perfection. They are very attentive and caring in taking the time and effort to discuss all the options and answer all the questions down to every little detail. Dr. Nip sacrificed her lunch break to do a root canal treatment for me when I couldn't wait for a regular appointment due to travel plans. And followed up with an email to make sure I didn't have any issues afterwards. Never thought a root canal can be done so painlessly. Have been to many dentists before and this team is absolute best. We absolutely love this place! From the Reception to the Dentists/ hygeiensits / assistants.they are so so professional!

My daughter had her Myobrace treatment here. She had a Class 3 malocclusion (i.e. A significant underbite) and started on the Myobrace treatment about 4 years ago. Fast forward to now and her upper teeth are out in front with a normal bite and we are very happy with how it has all turned out; well worth the up-front cost of the treatment. Her teeth are also very straight, which is a great benefit of the treatment as well. (We were also lucky that our daughter was very diligent about keeping the mouthpiece in when she was supposed to.) Dr. Hodjati has been great at explaining everything to us and has always been great at helping and encouraging my daughter. If your child has a similar condition I highly recommend going through this process and SDG is a great place to do it.

Do NOT go anywhere else! The Dentists and staff at Saanich Dental Group are all so amazingly kind and always put me at ease. I am not an easy patient - I have many childhood horrors of painful and scary dentistry still holding me hostage. Dr Compton has been the only Dentist to successfully and very gently guide me throught the process, I really trust him. I no longer feel any anxiety about going to the Dentist thanks to him and his wonderful team. I HIGHLY recommend them.

First let me begin by saying that even the thought of dental work increases my heart rate and anxiety level! I am not an easy patient…to say the least!

I have been dealing with Dr. Nip and the Saanich Dental Group for over 9 years now and cannot emphasize enough how incredible the entire team is. The warmth and compassion is felt as soon as you walk through the door with the amazing front-end staff.

We started going to Saanich Dental Group because it was close to our house, and now I would never go anywhere else. I have found the care there to be exceptional. They seem to be very up to date on all the latest advances, which I really appreciate. I am especially grateful that they told us about the MyoBrace. Our daughter had a really bad overbite when she was little and they recommended we see Dr. Hodjati at their clinic. Over about a year and a half of wearing the MyoBrace (looks kind of like a retainer and she just wears it at night) and doing some exercises, she had a perfect bite and now doesn't need to have braces as a teenager. I highly recommended both SDG and the MyoBrace program.

As a new client to Saanich Dental Group, I was anxious that I would need to go through the unpleasant intake process of filling out a lot of paperwork and getting full x-rays that involve having to bite down on a mouthpiece that always makes me gag. I was thrilled to find that the forms are easily filled out in the office in a few minutes via a desktop computer and that my x-rays were taken with a state-of-the art machine that did not require me to do anything but stand still. The hygienist was extremely knowledgeable and thorough and the dentist was pleasant and friendly, offered me a range of options for my teeth, was happy to share her own experience of wearing Invisalign braces answering my questions honestly, so I could make my own informed decision about what would work best for me. When I was told that my extended health care plan may not cover the full cost of the visit, I had some second thoughts, but after experiencing the professionalism of the people and the service, I concluded that it was well worth paying any amount not covered!
