Safeway Austin Heights

Great Safeway I was at this branch for the first time. The parking is very strange.they have a high parkade and then elevators/stairs quote a ways down to street level to the store

I love doing my groceries in here. Staff are very helpful and courteous. I always order chicken dinner and they make the mojos and onion rings for me if they do not have enough on the warm food area. The ladies in the warm food area are amazing. Always appreciate the effort and kindness of the staff.

Lots of parking upstairs and downstairs

No secret Safeway is more expensive than the average grocery store in the area, but they do have some things I wouldn't trade the prices for.

-Staff who you can find, and know the answers to your question.
-Tills open with minimal, or no lines! Like all day every day, there's customers, but it's never crowded, The parking lot is never packed.
-A deli that will make you amazing sandwiches, or any other item you think a deli MIGHT have (seriously, the deli is like 20% of the store, has hot and cold!)
-late business hours. Sadly the deli (sandwich and hot case) does often close 20 minutes before I get there. It's either a coincidence, or a plot to keep me hangry.

I can't stand with giving 5 stars to this place. Maryam, who helped me all the way from the start with my complicated concern - and made it perfectly, I really appreciate to you. You are my heroin.

Was there to Sept. 18 witness the lady at self checkout screaming and being extremely rude to that other cashier.this is not ok that poor cashier was shaking. The lady with shave hair should be removed

I think they forgot to pay their electric bill 90% of the lights are off in the store I just had a panic attack I don't think I'll ever come back

Unique offerings that I have not seen in competitor stores, like chocolates, ice cream brands and snack selections.

I love this place the workers are always really kind, but I have one question, if I ride my bike to safeway where can I link the bike chain?

Im cycling around the world and soon realised in Canada so many stores had loyalty cards. Every store we have used in Canada including other Safeways have unprompted given me the discount. I hadn't expected originally it but guess started too. A lovely thing for stores to do for visitors from abroad. However not as this store. They could but wouldn't. Just felt mean to be honest.

Layout seems cluttered and there's random stuff for sale in piles and end cap displays. Anyway, it's lovely.

Quite organized and clean most of the time, lots of female workers putting in some really good hours, always good to see a team!

Easy to park your car. Friendly staff and quiet environment to do shopping. There are many items always on sale. Love this location.

Older blond woman with glasses who is a cashier but also might be a supervisor because she seems to always be telling the other cashiers what to do… usually works in the evenings. What a rude woman! She is always in a sour mood and talks badly to customers. Bossy and accusatory. Someone needs a lesson on how to work in a customer service field. When I see her on cash, I always hope for someone else to go to because she has never been friendly, warm or engaging.

A bit too many ready to eat options and not enough ingredient selection for my taste. Fans of ready to eat grocery store measles may be more interested.

Locally sourced, Canada grown, friendly staff, tons of options. I love this Safeway

What stopped a perfect score? Down escalator is always off. On wet days these "stairs" and slippery and dangerous.
Can't shop in the day time because the construction crew building the apartments park in the parking area for customers so you can never find parking.

Big well maintained and managed grocery store. Always find what I'm looking for. Fast and friendly service. Safeway is definitely my go to grocery store.

Lots of parking and amazing river views from the roof parking lot. I really enjoy the expanded bakery section and having the kitchen there with really good eats and “to go” choices for last minute lunches or dinners.

The staff are nice, but sometimes they are short and it is hard to find someone to help you. Overall a good place to shop.

Frozen Deli rice among other food items that taste sub par and are overpriced. Spoke with assistant manager he seemed receptive.

What I like in that Safeway store is that there seems to be lots of friendly people on the floor to ask questions for stuff you need. Big plus for me. I totally agree

The pride of Austin Heights! Store has been rebuilt, two towers under construction will bookend the store. Small parkade accessed from Austin Avenue and a large rooftop parking accessed from the back.

I've been coming to this location for the last 14 years (before the new store was built). The staff are great, the pharmacy team is excellent and the store is visually appealing.

However, I will never understand why the store is always so hot! The temperature makes the shopping experience rather unpleasant.

Easy access underground parking garage or rooftop, nice clean store easy to navigate my way around a lot of sale items most times I shopped there nice friendly staff.

This place is awesome. Everything is arranged nicely, the store is spotless, the design of the store is done with style. I ️ shopping here.

Clean store, well stocked helpful staff. Great parking options (Underground covered, rooftop with elevator access) always space.

A nice a quaint grocery with a decent selection of items. They have all the staple items from major brands. I love their variety of cheeses and meets. I went grocery shopping for a charcuterie board and it was perfect, they had an insane range of cheeses and meats i cant even pronounce. Safeway also seems to have a new in-house brand for fancier looking food stuffs called panache. Haven't tried it yet but looks great.

Also, great for a coffee! They have a starbucks inside with cosy seating. Always a pleasure meeting friends there unexpectedly and sitting down for a cup of coffee

It is the closest grocery store by my place so I always do my grocery shopping here. Staff are always very kind and helpful.

Really nice new store. I was taken back buy the herb garden in produce. The herbs are so much better looking than the fresh packaged ones the produce dept normally carry. It has rooftop parking and underground parking with 2 elevators for both parking levels and escalators and cart escalators for the underground parking. There's seating by Starbucks and lots of seating outside the front of the store on Austin.

Nice new building. But back entrance really needs to open soon. Had to walk up the ramp to the roofttop parking to get in from the back. Maybe have stairs to the roof top or a walking path up the ramp.

This store is a bit annoying to get into from the street as most entrances are closed. They also need a better selection of chilled drinks. The only drinks they had in the fridges near the checkout were basically coke, sprite, and water. Something like vitamin water or iced tea would be nice to have cold, like they have at Safeway Burquitlam.

No masks on employees. 99% customers mask on. No shopping here again. Customers may be telling you somthing Safeway!

Usually a nice store. But I was disappointed with 2 things in my last visit. First issue was they had 3 employees working in the chip isle while other customers were shopping. Usually no issue other than its terribly inefficient to trip over other people like that, but it's covid now, we shouldn't be forced into big groups like that especially since the 3 of them were causing a bit if a traffic jam. Second issue was the Starbucks. They close at 7pm at this location as stated by the sign. We finished our shop and went over to grab a coffee at 6: 43. The girl at the counter wouldn't acknowledge that I was there, then the service clerk kindly told me that they had to close early today.no announcement, no sign stating such, just not serving customers with the closed at 7pm sign right on the front counter. I hate to complain, but after working at Safeway for 5 years, I just couldn't let that go. I know that nothing will ever be done about this write-up. But I just wanted to share my frustrationn

Store lay out was confusing. They had a display with 12 pack and singles of drinks. I took a single to the register and it was ringing up as a 6 pack. I told them about the display and the check out woman yelled at me. Saying I shouldn't be taking singles out of the 6 packs. I told her to get someone to check because there was no 6 packs. She didn't even bothered and no apologies. Great experience for all today.

Great reno from the old place. I'd really like to see the front entrance open back up. I thought it was a Covid thing to control numbers, but it's still closed off now that capacity is not being controlled, and makes pedestrians walk in through the winding underground entrance.

Always a good experience shopping at this Safeway. I have been a loyal Safeway shopper from when Mom started shopping when they moved to Coquitlam in 1956.

This store is always clean, well stocked and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Kudos to the team!

Still having problems with the escalator! Funny inclusions and exclusions.huge gift card section but very few greeting cards and no magazine section sign of the times I guess. Wide variety of everyday and speciality foods.

Great location. The store is very clean, well organised, love shopping here for certain products.
. The bakery is just yummmmmm. They make great apple pies and so fresh. The lady at the Bakery was very sweet gave me an apple pie? Straight from oven.
The cakes are lovely too and well decorated, with touch of a personal sign to go with it.

This safeway was recently rebuilt, we come here all the time, i love it, it's not always packed even on weekends, always lots of parking, when u park on the roof the view before u enter the store is amazing it's expensive but whatever, best Safeway location I've ever shopped at. Has a public washroom thats open by the Pharmacy.

It's a good clean and well organized place. They tend to be a bit on the pricier side with most of the same brands as the rest of the grocery chains. I had to get baby formula and ended up paying more for it at Safeway than I would have at superstore.

Nevertheless it is a good store with friendly people.

Found everything I came in for, good selection of steaks, produce was stocked and nicely presented, people were mostly following the covid arrows on the floor.

This store is awesome! They always have a good supply, they're very clean, and I feel pretty safe. They have been trying to keep the aisle directions enforced and they do a very good job.

Super clean tuna helped me through the store was very hands on in helping with sales and stuff cause I said I was broke lol super friendly and honestly this has to be the best grocery store I’ve ever shopped at tbh

5 min walk from my place. I do the majority of my food shopping there. Always clean. Nice employees. I also get all my prescriptions filled there. I know the pharmacists, super friendly and funny. Thao

Brand new store so its very clean and shiny. I've never seen it busy. Currently only open to 10pm. Covered parking off of Austin but can be accessed if you are going west. If going east use the back lane to go up to the roof parking which is partially covered. 2 things drive me crazy about this store: they have NOT placed the shopping baskets in any sort of logical place, which would be near where you enter the store, come up or down an escalator or elevator or stairs. You have to hunt for one. At night they close the self checkout and then only have one cashier who is never fast and I've literally walked out or just not bought heavier items because I won't stand in the line. There's no reason to close the self checkouts. They don't do that in any other store that has self check-out kiosks. Lots of speciality departments following with food trends. The visual merchandiser for this store takes a lot of pride and it looks very nice.

This is probably the nicest Safeway in the Vancouver area. It has rooftop and underground parking with 2 elevators.

Greek salad and coleslaw salad tried them.
Whoever makes them no good. Tried giving it few chances for lunch time. I'm sorry salad no good and no taste.

Convenient and clean, the butchery leaves something to be desired. With ground beef I've found oxide in the centre which indicates repacking and it quickly turned within a couple days of purchase. I've also had bone shards in the boneless chicken thighs.

It's so nice and clean. I had a fabulous teller, who went above and beyond to help me. I think her name is Darcee

This new location is great. There's lot's of parking the staff are friendly. Great selections of products and There's also a starbucks inside.

So clean, tidy, spacious, lots of variety of products, fresh produce and fruits, feel so safe to shop there!

Free underground and roof top parking, great variety and good price. The store is always clean and the staff very friendly.

Clean and well laid out. Aisles easy to navigate. Produce department not the best I've seen. Deli and bakery departments provide a diverse selection of consumables. Pharmacy initially efficient and helpful, but no call made to confirm ready for pickup on prescription filled. Self check outs did not like the fact that I had my own shopping bag. Attendant had to override my station 3 times before I could pay for my purchase.

My favourite safeway in town. Its new, bright, spacey.staff are friendly. Always sales happening. Its very often when I plan on going to get one or two items but ends up with 20 lol.

Have been there. On there opening everything fresh. Then downhill since then. Have bought bakery products and stail not fresh. French bread not fresh. No employees to be seen. Prices are double. Service not good. No bargains on Bbq chicken with salad and or potatoes. Disappointing.

The pharmacy here is excellent and super helpful. The rooftop parking is easily accessible by stairs which is really nice to use to stretch my legs.

The new Safeway on Austin Avenue is about twice the size of the old one that it replaces and is a vastly better store.

Brand new larger store as of Fall 2019, replaced the original Safeway. Rooftop parking as well as underground parking. Starbucks located on site.

Very impressed with location. Vast selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. Lots of parking. And a cup holder on the shopping cart for your Starbucks
