Safeway Davie Street

It has free parking underneath which is rare for downtown. The bakery is great if you value fresh bread.

They overcharge and increase their prices very often. At checkout I've noticed different prices too.and of course higher than sticker prices. Complained many times. I'd suggest you always check your receipt and don't 'let it slide'.

Make sure you have 30 min of extra time if you need help at the bakery as their workers are never there and when they are there it takes them forever to help!

Overpriced and overrated for the customer service you get!

Saw a mouse when shopping there yesterday going through bakery and running through different isles!

I came far away from Langley to enjoy the pride parade and my friends decided to have some chip from the Safeway and we went to the store, we saw that the store was so beautifully design, but the chip aisle were empty. And there was one manager who was working over there and she was so rude in talking that we ask her to look back for some chips “she ignore it” and told us that’s all we have now. She was even not wearing the name batch.
Even we have one Safeway in langley which is much more better than this Safeway and the manager are well respected in talking.

Very clean store with friendly staff. Fish department where you can pick up live crab or lobster. There is also a pharmacy, flower shop, bakery, and a Starbucks.

Absolutely shameless, terrible pricing practice. No wonder these people ripping absolutely unbelievable profits in times devastating inflation we are all facing. First the product, that I was buying on a regular basis, completely disappears off the shelves. Then, couple of months later, it comes back but on a completely different shelf, with a slightly updated label with the price gone from 10 to 15 dollars. That is 50% increase in price! Absolutely shameless.look up around your neighbourhood or within a short driving distance, there are grocery stores with half of the price of what safeway now does and better quality too.

I think this is the only grocery store in Canada where you can't search for food on their website. If you type in "veggie burgers" or "carrots" into the search bar, you will get recipes. Also the my grocery offers constantly messes up and doesn't work properly.

Shoutout to AMANDA in the Deli Department. She is a sweet angel who has saved the day for me over and over. 10/10 if you need someone kind, patient and willing to just help. She's your gal.

Conveniently located in the corner of Davie and cardero street, this store is a great addition to the community. It is well lit and spaced out. Products are organized and are easy to find. The Deli and bakery counters are fresh and ready with products for those who want something to eat and are limited in time. You may also bring recyclable ️ plastic bottles to this location. It has convenient customer parking and the store is accessible.

The fish department at this store is the best I have seen in Vancouver. It is always clean, super fresh and tasty, unlike everywhere else. Most fresh fish in Vancouver has a strange taste as though someone put a solution on the fish to keep it fresh. Not here. Kudos to Andre who has been with the company for a long time. He stands by the quality of his fish!

The female employee glared at me with a look of contempt when she walked past me. Then I walked behind her to the cashier area. She suddenly stopped in front of me and I nearly bumped into her so I shouted, "Excuse me. " She turned around and said, "Sorry" while crossing her hands across her chest as if I overreacted. It was very dangerous for her to stop abruptly in front of me while she knew that I was walking behind her, and she was not apologetic at all by making me look like it was my problem (that I did not need to be scared). But it was really scary because we could have hit each other and I was carrying groceries. It was absolutely unacceptable for the staff to be careless in the store while denying their fault by making the customer look bad.

Well laid out, clean and new Safeway. Prices seem a little higher than other parts of Vancouver. Their onions are typically really beaten up and in poor condition.

Hate going in here the staff are just so so rude. Was in here today (Sunday 5th June). I was paying for my items with cash (already no hello or any recognition from cashier) I paid $15 and my total was just under $11, I asked the young Canadian guy (longish brown hair probably 18-21 age) if he could give me my change in $1 coins, he refused and told me he wasn’t allowed, he opened the drawer and there was honestly about 100 looneys in there he refused again, I asked to speak to a manager and he refused, asked to speak to another cashier he refused, so so rude! In the end he gave me the change with a filthy look. Absolutely ridiculous behaviour for a Sunday morning!

I think this location is undergoing some kind of renovation. There are empty sections of aisle and floors taken up. The basil display, I'm not sure what's happening with that. There's a new coin machine kitty-corner to the cigarette counter so they can't be moving.

I checked the machine by the way. There's an 11.9% fee by the way, for the coins service. I wish I'd taken a picture.

Great store! Everyone so helpful & friendly. Great product choices & fresh seafood. Noticed their Compliments brand have great prices & I'm sure are very similar to the other products if not the same. Parking under store for your added convenience.

Overall, the staff is great. The piano is often played by street passerbys. The food I get is good. Sometimes on sale, always good.

Excellent location and free parking while shopping. This store has improved their customer service and becoming competitive with prices.

Andrew in the fish department is the very best. His suggestion of the local farm raised salmon I bought today was the best fresh fish I’ve had in ages! He’s been my go to fish guy for years at Safeway on Denman and now Safeway on Davie. Thank you, Andrew, for your best selections.

Nice Safeway layout store and easy access and nice variety. Much better than the location on Robson. Looked much cleaner and well stocked.

I bought compliments chips dec 2020 that were expired and I have all evidence of it. My tooth broke. I left 2 messages with Safeway, spoke to a nice person but the management got back to me. Safeway, not so safe. It's probably a manufacturers issue but if Safeway did not sell the expired bag on that day, this would have not happened. I would have not bought it. They just don't care. I do not shop at Safeway any more. When I spoke to Sobeys who owns compliments, they asked me to return the chip bag to Safeway. That is my only evidence.

Love this store. The pharmacy is great and the floor staff is amazing and helpful. It's a bit awkward at first because the elevators for the tower are in the middle of the store, but you get over that fast. Great selections and lots of mark downs for good deals. Their fresh fish and meat depart are thumbs up!

Store is very clean but not very organized. Different frozen sections all over the store. Hard to find things. But staff helpful.

New, clean and good staff. Not 5 stars because they still maintain the barbaric habit of selling live lobster.

Glad to see it finally opened. I have one suggestion. I believe workers in Meat & Seafood need to wear masks or avoid talking over the fresh food. I didn't buy any meats because of that.

Very convenient and lots of options. You dont need to stop by anywhere else if you're coming to safeway.

This is what we waited for? Great fixtures, but thats about it. No covid protocols, weird grocery layout. You would think produce would be a target for them, lotsa vegans and flexitarians, TINY produce. Starbucks seems like a waste of space. Nice for your employees i guess. EVERYTHING. 50-$1.00 more than YIG. I like my PC points and operating hours better up the hill.

Beautiful store, happy that it’s finally open, however they are COMPLETELY failing with the pandemic. Employees are NOT wearing masks; had several come within inches of me while shopping and at the self-serve check out. No one is wiping or spraying anything down. It’s like the pandemic doesn’t exist in the store and it’s all a dream. They have arrows on the floor; not being enforced and no one is following the safety measures. Very disappointing.

Will not be going back during the pandemic. Choosing Whole Foods instead as they’re actually taking this seriously.

We were so happy with the store until we got to the section that has live crab and lobsters. So disappointed to see that cruelty for everyone including those sensitive -children etc. - so upsetting. With their claws tied up languishing in small tanks, it is sickening to many people. Seriously, is this really needed in our neighbourhood store? We will not be shopping at Safeway anymore.
