In my budget.
Not so much anymore

Customer service not the friendliest. Better sale items and competitive pricing than previous years. Poor choice of meat selection and quantity. I rather drive 7 minutes to the Safeway on Wellington and Hastings location.

I've been to the customer service counter for returns the odd time and the customer service is phenomenal.

This Safeway at Kensington Shoppin Burnaby is the nicest Safeway.the other one in Burnaby at Hastings and Willingdon is awful much higher prices mgr is awful and store is dirty. Kensington clean.has a beautiful meat and fish counter.delli is great

Fast freindly service, clean fresh veggies! I dont really shop at safeway but my one off experience was very good.

Great location, I find the staff is generally friendly and their covid measures are really well put in place.

Well stocked with all the essential groceries you need. We get items here regularly, especially if something is needed quickly. It's convenient without having to drive too far.

Good for a quick item in a pinch. I'd never shop here for my weekly. Too expensive across the board

I needed goat milk and asked a clerk who was near by. Although it was busy, she took me to the cooler and showed it to me with a smile. Always great to have a friendly service.

To the lady working at the deli yesterday at 11: 30am. There is no need to be rude and condescending to your customers. Do not roll your eyes and snap when someone ask you a simple request ie. Can I have a pastrami sandwich on rye. If you are having a bad day, consider not coming to work and taking it out on people.

A refreshing change of pace from the busy pumpkin patches in Richmond or Maple Ridge. We usually go to Westham Island Farms but opted for something a little closer to home this year.

The cost to visit was $5 per person to visit but the pumpkins were a very reasonable price and a variety of colours available. There are free run chickens and cows for the children to check out (with hand-washing stations and good distancing) The $2 hay ride was a hit with my littles and totally worth it.

My hubby and I come here once a week. The safe way here is stellar, so much better than the safe way in our neighborhood. Love coming to this spot!

Quick stop for groceries has lots of options and the staff are very nice here. Usually not too busy either except for around 5pm (after work and school)

I’m a regular at the Kensington Safeway and I love seeing the staff there especially Shakuntala. Even though she’s busy working she makes an effort to greet me and let me know where the good sales are. You’re the best!

Best decorated cakes at a reasonable price! Since a few months ago, I notice amazing decorations of the cake at the bakery section when I was buying a loaf of bread. I decided to order one for my daughter's birthday and placed an order. The day I picked it up, it was as I ordered but it was not fantastic as one on the display. I asked Nila who made a decoration to add some ribbons around the cake and she went above and beyond and make my daughter's cake so fancy despite my last-minute request. She was very accommodating and told me that she likes to make a cake with care just like she make one for her family and friends. Some people couldn't believe my cake was from Safeway. I know not all Safeway has this good of a cake decorator, and I appreciate she works in our neighborhood. My cake was 20pcs cupcake (10 vanilla, 10 chocolate) under $30. Where can I find this nice of the cake under $30 other than Safeway? !

Disappointed that you are charging/forcing people to pay for reusable bags just because you guys ran out of plastic ones. If I had known that before coming in, I wouldn’t have shopped there

The chicken breast used in sub sandwich deli section tastes like it came out of a cold wet can. I don't remember it being this bad but I totally wasted $10 on a foot long sub. They also do not have the mini croissant sandwiches everyone loves that other Safeways have. Also missing my favourite Brown jasmine rice. Layout is alright but Safeway doesn't often sell apples from Canada especially not organic ones. It's horrible we are not even eating up our own apple supply, why pollute the world shipping in apples from Chile? !

More goods you need, special food.
But you should have mask and keep social distance for safety.

I like this store overall. But line ups for cashier or self serve are crazy long a lot of times.

The Kensington Store has really great staff. Today @ Self Check the Cashier was super friendly not sure of her name tall blonde Lady always yhere And Then I belueve June is ger name saw i was buying avtiny thong of fliwers snyway she took off returned worh a box and tisdue and paper omg Great service THANKS LADIES!

Everything you need, in a very nice environment. They even carry impossible burgers! Coincidentally, they're impossible to find anywhere else!

Last 3 visits items scanned were different than shelf price. On first occasion the price difference was 2.50 so was given item. 2nd time same problem same item but after 10 minute wait was given price difference in coins. They solved the pricing on that item, Tetley decaf tea, now they just upped the price to the overcharge rate. Guess I'll drive a little further for my tea.
Today bought muffins on sale for 4.99 was charged 5.49. No customer service available.
Crazy high veggie prices, as a senior thought I would save on waste so only bought 4 celery sticks, cost $2.11.
I shop during senior hours but no one enforces the rule. I complimented the two 20 something City Workers on how good they looked for 60. Went right over their heads.

Very RUDE "manager" told me my service dog was not aloud in his store.
My Aunty worked for Safeway for over 30yrs, I have always shopped there out of loyalty, but I will NO LONGER shop there.
Safeway has changed considerably over the last few years and not for the better.

This Safeway is here forever, probably before Canada?
Open early and close late. Extremely convent to locals specially SFU students living around.
They also provides lots of “Ready To Go” food and tables. What a beautiful store.
However, kind feel that lots of food are more expensive comparing to other store.
Specially on meet and vegetables. But due to the location and hours I cannot complain too much about price.

I have been coming here for too long. Time for a change as they never stock up on anything and run out of everything all the time. Many products I have been buying ran out and they were never stocked back up. They only get 3x cases of 24 cocacola cans for everyone so chance are I am not getting any. The bulk section as gone from bad to worst. The one trail mix that was decent stopped coming in.alot of product change and never come back, Aylmer soups, French sauces, eggrolls with meat.etc. They need to be more pro-active in stocking products in high demand. Look at my picture to get an idea.the product shown is more expensive on special then the regular price. The facing of the products is not done at the point where I have to move boxes around to be able to find my products. Who is responsible for this mess?

Don't buy your deli meat from them, they cut it way to thin and you end up with shredded sandwich meat. I asked the lady to cut it a little thicker this time because I don't like it so thin. She smiled and said okay, but then cut it super thin. Waste of money. The store was also kind of dirty looking and disorganized, and they didn't have enough cashiers open as they are trying to direct people to use the self-checkouts. I won't be back.

Safeway is a great to get certain things, I’ve only go to this location for Meat & seafood department. I aways call ahead during Easter, Thanksgiving & Christmas for specific size of turkey, always 10kg + Butterball brand. I’ve always get 10kg to 12kg, thanks to the friendly staff to fulfill the expectation.
Still not happy with the parking lot, not easy to park a Ford F-550 truck, barely fits. Not everyone drives a sub compact or a compact car. I usually take up 3 parking spots when I’m at Safeway shopping.

Nice place. Very clean and the employees are very polite. Everything is well organized and the only downside are the prices which can get a little higher than other places.

Good, clean, and rarely runs out of whatever I'm looking for. Can getting busy right after work sometimes.

I'm only giving three stars to this grocery shop because the sandwich counter person assisting me on my lunch item, made a shamble of my take-out meal.

I didn't purchase my item, and decided to just walk out the door. There wasn't even a "hello", smile or courtesy extended from the clerk.

We hate this Safeway and only go there when we have to. Watch their expiration dates, they like to sell stuff after its expired. Their stocking sucks too, they're always out of many necessities when we've gone. The staff is ok, but that's even iffy.

This is my local Safeway so I'm biased, but I always enjoy this location. The people are friendly and remember your name, the service is good. Sadly they changed their baking so it really declined in quality, as did their onion rings (also recently changed) but overall a good store.

The store is well stocked, prices are generally reasonable. Many items are on sale at any given time.
Overal I havent found the staff particularly friendly or helpful, that is not to say that they're inefficient tho. The cashiers are fast and shelves are always clean and tidy.
Outside the store.however, is another story.
There are a few tables set up under a sort of pseudo shelter right in front of the store. I never see anyone sitting at them.likely because the surfaces are covered in sticky goo and drink container rings. I rarely even tie my dog there, because the ground is strewn with food garbage.
I have visited the store frequently over past few months, and havent ever seen the area clean.
Not the best 'curb appeal'.

You need to actually stock your sale items! When I ask for help, both employees tell me they’re brand new. Where’s the training and support for these poor guys. This is a management issue, not their fault.

Went there on the way back from PNE around 10pm. I was looking for some quinoa salad. The deli was not lit up and no one around. I didn't see the salad and was about to leave when I decided to go back (I'm hopeful and stubborn lol) I'm glad I did because a young man came walking briskly towards the deli from the other end of the store. Hope activated! He looked over at me and asked if I needed help? Beautiful. I asked if they had anymore quinoa salad, he said yes and pointed it out. Yes! He gave me my order checkout line was quick and I was glad my stubbornness paid off! Overall great experience and service, store was clean.

The staff is helpful, kind and, considerate. The pharmacy is by far the best one ive ever had to deal with. In my opinion, the pharmacy is great because the staff treats every individual as an.individual not, like we are all carbon copy cutouts.
For that i say, thank you. Please pass your customer outlook onto any of your new pharmacists / assistance.

Superb Customer service. Clean & friendly atmosphere. Well stocked shelves, good produce & Awsome product. Lots of friendly staff from Deli to bakery, Cashiers to floor staff all very friendly & helpful. I love to shop at Safeway even though the prices are high for my budget. All the deli foods are prepared fresh daily. The staff are very knowledgeable, & calm when dealing with the public. Recommend Safeway for shopping anytime.

Excellant, they are like a Safeway. You ask for help and they take you to what you are looking for. Always someone to help at the self check out and all of the self check outs are always all working. The new safeway (young staff) should have to train there.

Great staff, but occasionally we have found items past their expiry dates. Overall a good place for quick shopping. Lots of parking available

Great service, the real reason l shop here is for the inappropriate jokes, then l go home and feel offend and cry myself to sleep.

This Safeway should be like any other Safeway but it isn't. This one is special not because it is bigger or has a Starbucks or is surrounded by a lot of shops but because of the friendly staff. The staff here are friendly and are always accomadating. I recommend this Safeway to anyone who is looking to get the finest groceries the market can offer. The freshest vegetables, juiciest meats and sweetest cakes, this Safeway has it all.

The slowest checkout experience ever. The female cashier (Hailey) was extremely slow and customers had to wait a long time to check out. She didn't apologize for the long delay. The male cashier at the next counter saw a long line but didn't bother to ask customers to come over. He just stood behind his counter and did nothing. I would have used self-checkout but I needed to redeem airmiles and was told that self-checkout didn't allow airmiles redemption. Sigh! Btw, Safeway didn't accept Apple Pay either. I will shop there as little as possible to avoid any frustrations in the future.
