Since the revamp, this is by far one of the best supermarkets in the downtown Vancouver area. The so called premium grocers do not even have as many products that this newly renovated Safeway carries. Also, this particular safeway has one of the best meat departments anywhere. The seafood department is also very good.

It is a great store,

You can find the lowest price in vancover for all items when they runing sale, even less than Walmart or Costco.
The regular price is reasonable too.
I do not like all store brands' products, but I do like their brand and have always had good experiences with "compliments" products.
I was really disappointed when they changed Airmiles to a new point system; not a big fan of the Scene point system, and it affected my choice to go to Safeway; I had a great experience with their Airmiles with Safeway, especially when they gave you double or triple points on dome event.

I hope to back to Airmiles, which I doubt it!
I never able to get a good withdrawal from the Scene point system so far, I have been a member of both point systems for over ten years.

Anyway this location is excellent store and clean, super helpful staff; free parking is huge deal in downtown.
They offer warm food, and soups, and there is Starbucks stands.

Thank you, keep up the good work

I like it because they have good options for bread and dessert. Also, their hot food options are quite good. Bakery is always unattended

Why is Safeway always so expensive.other than that good deli, flowers, produce, good ready-made salads

For Flyer Items Only -Expensive Place! Shout out to Tai, a long time employee with good customer service and who is a pleasure to talk to!

Safeway on Robson Street, Vancouver, BC

Date June 15
2: 01pm

Walked in the entrance way and was shoved out of the way and swore at by an employee with a hard hat and holding a camera working in the back where storage is.
Reported the incident to the Management (Jason) asked if I was alright. Said I was okay, then proceeded to take in my bottle returns and when I went to collect my return money the said someone has to watch me so I suggested to view the cameras. (Amit) refused and said I didn't return anything then I got frustrated cuz both (Amit and Jason) were not checking the cameras and refused to let me grab my bottle returns back. Considering filing assault and discrimination charges. Management refused to give me the head office number so I contacted the Davie street location and received it quickly.

Very good Safeway location. Have been coming here for years. The meats are usually cheaper than most places and there's almost always a standout deal. Similar with breads: price and variety is generally very good and there's usually something on a particularly good deal. Variety throughout the store is generally very good.

One gripe is the lack of service at the bakery section where the nice cheap cookies are, like the epic giant PB choc-chip ones for $2.29. I've often stood there for minutes and had no response, even with staff walking by me. Last few times I've just stood on the low shelf and reached over to grab one; problem solved. Not enough to drop a star.

Always works perfectly as intended. There are many spots, never had to wait once for the last 3 years we’ve been using it.

The store manager Hamid Shahrouei is extremely argumentative and escalates store issues. I get he was discriminating against me and I will be filing a formal complaint with head office as well as a human rights complaint. Hire people who have manners and etiquette! People who are not going to be threatening. This treatment is unacceptable. The interaction I have was recorded and will be reviewed. I will never shop here again and will be sure to have everyone I know do the same. I will never recommend shopping at this store as the managers here do not have any first world etiquette and manners that are required for the position.

What a change from the old store. It's so big now and has a great selection of products, like all Safeway stores. Since being bought by Sobeys they list the Safeway house labels which is disappointing but Compliments is a good line of products. Not very busy in the early afternoon but still well staffed so there's always staff to help you.

Because it's enough that you can buy their extended warranties and that you can take the time to phone them in hopes that you might find the product you're looking for but they're so cheap that they won't even keep a phone service working for people's inquiries why should I have to run down there as a blind person or type something online to their customer support team why are they so cheap with their service when they're a multi-billion-dollar company to meet me have to run around after them you don't have a phone you don't get my business

First in line at the self checkout, grouchy employee who often works there kicked me off the red dot, telling me to move back one. Then she stood on the dot, with her arms crossed, watching the kiosks. Not sure what the point was, exactly, but she was way too close, especially for someone in contact with 100's of people a day. I avoid anywhere she's working, and due to this and other issues prefer the new Davie store!

The best grocery store next to downtown Vancouver. They have a lot of products variety and different brands from around the world. I'm not giving 5 stars because they are a little expensive Grocery store.

I am continually more and more frustrated by how poorly this Safeway (Robson St, Vancouver) manages to stock their shelves and cases with core items. They just don't seem to be able to get a handle of of their supply chain. They are continually out of items that I buy regularly - mouth wash, bulk foods, fish, salad.the list seems ever expanding each time I go. The current prime example being that their bulk section has been nearly empty for 2 to 3 months where I would otherwise regularly buy sliced almonds and other items which are now impossible to find here. Their aisles are often cluttered with boxes and unused shelving units. This seems like a poorly managed location and I've decided after coming home empty-handed yet again today that I'm giving up on coming here anymore, moving forward, despite living right around the corner. The prices are still expensive even with discounts and the staff are usually hard to find and often not very helpful or friendly. I'm now driving elsewhere to a different grocer (I just got back from Loblaws in North Van) instead of walking around the corner. At the other grocer, I had no problems with parking or finding anything (where they have a fully stocked bulk food section that has sliced almonds) that I couldn't get at Safeway. Plus, I picked up additional items that I wasn't even on planning on buying that I would never have found at the Robson St Safeway. Thanks but no thanks. I'm through with being frustrated and coming home empty handed.

Great selection as usual. This supermarket has also a nice self service food place that you can purchase and eat there, or take a way. They have free parking for customers and there's a Liquor store next to it, since the supermarket doesn't sell alcoholic beverages.
04 July 2019 5:05
4 stars for a Safeway is pretty much the max. This one is decent bc unlike most it's quite large and if you take the time to scan through random aisles, you can usually find something on sale that's worth buying. Like all Safeways the produce is just so-so though but I do appreciate that they often have fresh horseradish.
04 July 2019 5:01
Reasonable prices good selection nice friendly staff. Recommend stopping here to get some chips etc. It's near a liquor store too

I have compared all the supermarkets when arrived to Vancouver and I would not shop from here anymore. I don’t see any point as I can find the same products for more inexpensive rates ex: 1 liter bottle of pop for $2 I can buy for 87 cents and the list goes on you can simply do your owns comparison.

What made me feel bad also is that their hard working employees get paid minimum wage.

Advise buy your groceries from multiple stores and aim for their promotions and offers.

Really great store. Some awesome finds for the garden, cute little succulents. Always has lots of fresh fruit in stock. The prices are a little steep but some thing are actually less expensive than No Frills.
30 June 2019 20:07
The store is great, I used to go to this Safeway for ALL my needs. I don't go there now because their parking is managed by "Diamond Parking". They ticket you for shopping regardless of paid or not. Go to another store to shop unless you walk. I won't go back until a different parking management company is in place, Diamond parking sucks!

Typical grocery store just like the one in the U. S.with the difference is alcohol are not sold in the store and a few Canadian selections.
05 June 2019 19:38
This store has really improved over the years. I don't go there often but each time I do I like I more. There are lots of ready to eat meals prepared. I am seriously hooked on their potato salad.
01 June 2019 22:58
Low quality produce. They regularly sell rotting strawberries or blueberries at a discount. Prices are the highest in the area. Go to Kins or Aria forfor better quality and cheaper produce.
01 June 2019 0:11
Someone needs to train the staff making sandwiches. Never a smile on the face of anyone (except Winnie). They usually over toast your sandwich to the point it crumbles when you eat it, or its under toasted and cold. Sloppy toppings. These people would not eat most of the sandwiches they make themselves.
30 May 2019 14:21
I like the bakery here, and I like that I can collect Air Miles here. Also, the product prices have gotten much better (competitive) than they were.
23 May 2019 2:36
Small store but great selection of foods and groceries. They had a really nice flower selection as well.
26 April 2019 21:27
A cashier named Marsa (not exactly sure) is supposed to give me 13.85 dollars but only gave me 13.85. When I counted it on the side and find her later, she insist she gave me 13.85 and was very rude.
18 April 2019 10:43
This safeway is stuck in the 90s. They don't charge for bags and double bag everything. You might get bags for free, but you'll end up paying more for your groceries. The "deals" here are unappealing.
20 February 2019 9:08
I am used to stopping into Safeway and picking up some items and getting cash back from my ATM card, I find it extremely strange that a company based in Pleasanton California United States refuses to accept American ATM cards. If you're an American do not use this location less you can carry Canadian cash.

Small, pricey, smelly, and LOTS of homeless sleeping on the streets in front of the escalator. They haggle you, making you feel sorry for them, or they'll make you feel guilty if you don't. The cashier seemed super nice tho, like he seemed grateful we chose his lane or something. So one star for Safeway, and one star for the sweet smiling cashier for making the shopping experience a little better.
15 February 2019 23:00
This is the largest Safeway that I have been in, in a while. First off there is homeless problem around the entrances and in the parking lot area of this store. The parking lot smells like pee and I think management needs to be more cognizant of those camping out around their store. The store starts on the second floor and you'll have to take cool criss crossing escalators to get to it. I saw that parking is free for a few hours so you can get your shopping in and then a quick bite at one of those awesome restaurants on Robson.

The hubby and I wandered in here after a stroll on Robson street to pick up a few items that we forgot at home on our last visit down to Vancouver. The aisles seem endless here, and they do have pretty good prices. I actually bought a maple tea that I saw at the IGA in Whistler here because it was 50% less.

The staff is friendly, we asked of where things were instead of hunting them down ourselves and everyone was happy to talk to us even the security guard near the pharmacy. I thought that self checkout was a little confusing. There is one line for the 6 terminals that's not clearly marked or guided so you can wait for a while in the wrong line then have to go stand in another. A very nice lady let me go in front of her when the clerk dude watching over the area made me go to the back of the line because I was in the wrong one.

If you need something and are staying in the coal harbor area, this is a pretty good place to pick those things up. I wish we had one of these up in Whistler.

High prices, management not very friendly to cudtomers, have never seen them smile or greet a customer. Some staff helpfull and friendly.

One of my favorite stores in Vancouver. I like this particular branch of Safeway because of its friendly staff. (Not all Safeway stores in Vancouver are friendly, sadly.)

BEWARE and don’t park here. Their elevators have been broken for MONTHS and they don’t get it fixed. I walk up the stair case that smells like piss and loop up to walk on the slider thing. I get a TICKET for that when I was still buying groceries. Whoever watches the security cameras don’t know how the building works. I got it disputed and my receipt to back that up. Always keep your receipts because those parking people really want to grab your money during the holidays. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals.

Also, I saw another asian disputing the same incident when I was about to leave. I’m not sure if the parking lot people are racial profiling Chinese/Asian people.
