I had the opportunity to partnership with Saltchuck Pie company for an event and it was so fun, very friendly staff and DELICIOUS pies that both staff and customers were very excited for! I can’t wait to go in to the location on Bay Street to enjoy some more of their pies I didn’t get a shot of my yummy butterchicken pie I was so hungry but 10/10 recommend!?

I tried an assortment of their savoury pies and was disappointed that they were mostly pastry and little filling.

Amazing variety of both savory and sweet pies.
Popped in to grab some chicken pot pie and came out with those and an apple crumble.
Great little place to stop and have a coffee and a treat.
Prices are pretty good considering the sizes of the pies.

Best pie to go in town. I’m actually not super into pie but when a friend of mine requested us pick one up here for a dinner party I was blown away. I got a peach & strawberry pie and now I must say I’m a Saltchuck pie addict.

I LOVE this pie place. I've tried a banana cream pie, a peach & strawberry pie and a peppered steak pie. They are all very yummy. It can be a bit too sweet or salty for me cause I'm not a fan of very sweet or salty food. Last time when I ordered peach & cream pie, they said they were out of cream. I hope it was just that day that they didn't have cream. Because I really enjoyed their banana cream pie haha. Also, their croissants and chocolate cookies are a must try. Staff are so friendly and lovely. I definitely will keep visiting here.

We have never been disappointed coming here. Every time we come to the island, we visit and miss it till we return. 10/10!

This place is great, always hard to find a good Australian style pie but this place also makes some super fun and unique flavors. The family and I did a bit of a food tour when up in Victoria and this is our favorite, simple, straight forward, so damn good, and the prices were excellent.

Can’t say enough good things about this spot. Great staff, great atmosphere, and delicious food very reasonably priced. Even if you’re not hungry when you’re in the area, go in and pick out something for later - you won’t regret it.

For the second time in about six months, today we were treated somewhat dismissively by the sales assistant. Not the same sales assistant as last time. It's not disrespect as such, just not the cordial service we receive in most other establishments. You're working in a pie shop not Tiffany's so maybe you should get off your high horse. The pies as usual were great although the beef and mushroom had too much garlic for my taste. Could do better.
New staff at work today 05 March 2022. Same great pies - now with friendly service. Brilliant!

I've made a few trips here to make sure that the first 2 times weren't just a bad batch. Their crusts are disgusting with no taste. Their savory pies are all too salty and gross. And their sweet pies are all too sour tasting. I'm definitely a pie fanatic and know a good One when I taste it.

I bought two pies for myself and my daughter.one had a chunk of hair in it and I refused to eat the other (second time this has happened last time i threw away the pies). I called and offered to bring in the pies.they offered to refund me on both. When I went to return it the owner was rude, insulting condescending and try to create a spectacle. I had been patronizing the place for years and will never set foot in there again. Disgusting!

This place is an absolute gem for the fellow pie lovers out there. Sweet pies, savory pies, and a massive array of baked goods, in house sauces and beverages to choose from. Customer service is always on point, and the pies.my God the pies, they are TRULY something to write home about, mind-blowingly delicious?

I got the beef steak and chicken Pot Pie, both were disgusting and inedible. The place has been in constant quality decline for years now. I will never eat there again. Worst Service I have ever experienced!

Hands down the best pies in the city! Both sweet and savory pies are award winning. My personal favorites have been the Thai Green Curry, Beef & Bacon, Banana Cream Pie and Cherry Blueberry. Not only is the owner passionate about his products, he truly cares about his community and his customers. I hope Saltchuck remains a staple in our community for years to come! I travel all the way in from the Westshore for Saltchuck! I was also pleasantly suprised to see the pies on the menu at a local winery.if you haven't tried Saltchuck pies, I highly recommend!

We stop in regularly for their butter tarts. One time we picked up a package of free seeds (for blue hubbard squash, not butter tarts!), and they're now sprouting in our garden. Free seeds rock!

Last time I had a Cornish Pastie this good, I was in Cornwall. A Pastie is a type of meat and vegetable pie.
Saltchuck pasties are baked on the premises, and it shows. The people who baked these, really know how to make an excellent Pastie.

Having tried a few, I would not hesitate to drive past every other pie shop in town, until you reach the Saltchuck Pie Company. This is the place for a pastie that is plump with high quality, tasty ingredients.

The pastry was just perfect for taste, texture and thickness. The meat content was much higher than the veggie content, and all in all, it was an excellent small meal. These bakers have paid it forward, to earn a well deserved Five Stars. I'll be back.

Been wanting to check this place out for a few years. Glad I finally went.

Holy cow this is the best pies I’ve ever had outside of New Zealand. Warm. Gooey. Perfect pastry. Damn it’s good!

I stopped in here as my friend kept recommending it. I bought two savory pies, a beef and a chicken tandoori, and they were both delicious! The pastry was so light and flaky, not like I have had in other meat pies. I can hardly wait to go back and try more of their variety of pies as they had a lot of unique kinds.

Wow, 10/10 pies here! I've driven past this place for years and have heard great things but finally stopped in this weekend and it sure lived up to the reputation. First of all, incredible selection of ready to eat and take home pies - both sweet and savoury, with THE flakiest crusts. Also a good selection of tarts and other bakery/deli items (salads, muffins, sausage rolls, etc.) Knowledgeable and friendly staff as we had an allergy in our party that needed to be verified. Me and my Australian boyfriend came to Victoria for a visit and he needed to try their meat pies because his other Aussie friend recommended it. He couldn't stop smiling while eating it and says it's the best meat pie in Canada. We'll be coming back tomorrow!

I purchased 1small lamb shepard's pie and 1 small chicken pie for dinner. The cooking instructions were great. Both pies were delicious. The larger pies were a bit pricey. The quality of the pies are top rated.

We were checking out some furniture stores, and Saltchuck was nearby. We had a steak pie and a pepper steak pie. I also ordered a quinoa salad thinking that I would eat more healthily. The pie crust was soft and not crunchy, as though it had been microwaved and not fresh out of the oven. My pepper steak pie was very spicy, instead of just a hint of black pepper like a pepper steak, the pepper was heavy. The pies had more gravy than beef, very soupy, and not balanced with vegetables. The photo of the salad show lots of mustard seeds, a bit too vinegary and aggressive – I had to abort it. The home made apple lemonade was very pleasant. And the servers were friendly.

Delicious treats at a reasonable price. The sausage rolls has the perfect bite and moisture, not too dry. The fruit pies are amazing. My boyfriend says that of all the pies he's tried that's close to topping is his tia Marta's apple pie? In Chile.

The decor inside the shop is very cute for a date dine in. I am absolutely in love being fed and feeding different flavors. Will have to make this as a special treat place.

Ordered take out twice and both times the pies were delicious. Would have given 5 stars if the woman working the counter didn't treat us like we were an inconvenience.

Cozy spot for some delicious pie! We had both savoury and sweet pies and thoroughly enjoyed all the flavours! I personally found the savoury pies to be lacking a little bit of salt, and thought the sweet pies could have been sweeter and more punchy with the flavours! However, we left very satisfied with bellies full of pie!

Went here yesterday for the first time heard a lot about it and I’ve always fancied a meat pie; there’s one in Coombs which is my fave but this place is also amazing! Nice clean tidy shop, great selection of meat pies. Kinda pricey but you get what you pay for and they are amazingly delicious pies. I had the beef and bacon and it was yummy! The pasty they pies come in is nice and flakey golden baked and just fantastic. Good staff good vibes from the service. Can’t wait to try other varieties of pies. Loved it A+

This is not the first time.but first time having a chicken pot pie. Didn't like it. The nanaimo bar was great though

This place came very highly reviewed but my chicken pot pie tasted somewhat metallic (from the pie plate) and way too much oregano. The steak pie also was heavy handed on rosemary. The crusts were delicious but overall, this place wasn't as good as I had hoped.

I frequently go to Saltchuck on my lunch breaks. Pies are absolutely delicious, reasonably priced, and enough for me for lunch - although I have a coworker who frequently orders two each time. I don't usually dine there, but the atmosphere has a really bright antique feeling.

Incredible quality pie crust. Best I've had in my entire life, would love to learn to replicate this at home.

Finally a place that understands the classic chip shop meat pie. The pies are perfectly produced and range from your traditional steak pie to more modern flavour combinations. Friendly service and warm environment. The cafe is cute and the perfect place to enjoy your pie if you can’t wait to get it home.

Delightful variety of savory and sweet pies for omnivores and vegetarians alike. Very friendly and helpful service. Super cute and chill dining area. There's 2hr parking abutting the building and along Bay St. There is currently construction on the bridge which backs up on the street a little.

Yum yum yum yum yum! Called 1 hour ahead to get the gluten free chicken pot pie! Hot and ready when we got there. Employees were SUPER friendly and it was overall a great experience

Omg! Are you into pies like me well then you will lose your mind! The Ingredients are so thought of and the care is tasted on every forkfull! They sell takeaway to bake at home! Highly suggest. Oh and did I mention they make some of the best salads ever!

Poor/unpleasant service
Went here for a selection of pies and potato wedges. Apple pies were good. Potato wedges were covered in paprika/chilli, to the point of being unpleasant - inedible by north american spice standards.
Service was disinterested and bored. Obviously a fair amount of effort has gone in to the cafe and recipes. Time to work on service amd customer care. Probably wouldn't go back, which is a shame as i love pies and was really looking forward to visiting this place.
