Sammy J's Grill & Bar - Maple Ridge

Very cool establishment. It's huge. Lots of room for seating. The food is good but in my opinion overpriced.

Food was good and better than I expected! All dishes tasted great and were prepared fresh. Tried the wings, panko shrimp, kung pao chicken and samurai bowl. Only minor critique is that the salt and pepper wings were a little too salty (although I know the name implies it has salt but a lower concentration would have been nicer IMO).

Service was stellar! No complaints there. Server was very attentive, but not annoyingly so either, and brought everything out at the perfect time (appies first and then food and a good amount of gap between appies and main course and even before bringing out the main course). She had a good attitude too.

It's in a newer development area. Would recommend it.

Great place to grab a bite with friends or loved ones. Definitely good vibes, service was great and the food was amazing.

I had the chicken fajitas which I highly highly recommend. The skillet with the vegetables and chicken come to the table smoking hot and are absolutely delicious. Your condiments (guac, cheese, salsa, shredded lettuce and sour cream) come on their own plate on the side
My aunt had the taco salad which was so full of such yummy surprises in every bite and actual ripe not brown avocados in it so so yummy! She said she'll definitely be back to order it again!
I also ordered the crispy cauliflower it wasn't as crispy as it usually is and was a bit too spicy and greasy.
Other than that everything was delicious especially the Reese peanut butter pie

Disappointing Experience, Unfulfilled Promises

I recently ordered two burgers for takeout from this restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. I was initially informed that my order would be ready in 10 minutes and was promised a call when it was prepared. However, after patiently waiting for 30 minutes without any communication from the restaurant, I decided to inquire about my order.

To my dismay, I was told that they had forgotten to call me, which was quite disappointing given the initial assurance. Upon arriving home, I discovered that the food had suffered greatly due to the delay. The French fries, which had likely been left in the package for an extended period, tasted stale and unappetizing. Additionally, the burgers were no longer hot, significantly diminishing their overall quality.

The lack of communication and the subsequent poor quality of the food left me thoroughly dissatisfied with my experience. Timely service and hot, fresh food are basic expectations for any restaurant, especially when it comes to takeout orders. Unfortunately, this restaurant failed to meet these fundamental standards, leaving me with a negative impression.

I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works towards improving their service to ensure that customers have a pleasant dining experience, even when ordering takeout. As it stands, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my disappointing encounter.

Decent restaurant, typical pricing, certainly not offensive food but definitely not memorable. For me a far better choice than the keg imo.
Steak frites could've been in the fryer for 1 more minute and although cooked a perfect medium the Steak (albeit a less expensive cut) was underseasoned contrary to the pic. My steak was ok but I was surprised at the lack of flavour because it looked seasoned. My 'Steak frites' was really not but rather steak julienne, not proper frites. Yes I am nitpicking but it still ain't  'frites'. I dig the traditional frites as u can tell. Wifes steak was sad, dry and well a let down, not as ordered 'cos it was def well done. Kinda heavy handed with the grill as the pics show.
Service was friendly but  semi attentive, but in her defense it was a Tuesday  dinner rush. Patio is really nice but imo doesn't  really qualify as an open air patio or maybe it was just in lockdown mode?

Overall, certainly waaay better than their competition but maybe It was just one of those days, 'cos it could've been cooked properly as opposed to rushed on the grill, sat at the pass, arrives warm-ish at the table.
Js, maybe next time I will find their specialty, I hope.
Some good menu ideas to explore and fair prices too.

It was my daughter and her boyfriends birthday great food great service and the free cheesecake they got for the birthday was awesome and appreciated it was super busy and our waitress was awesome

My wife and I made reservations for 5pm tonight on the patio for our wedding anniversary and rarely get the chance to get out. Less than an hour before we get a call saying "sorry we have an event you have to be out by 545, sorry about that! " Well isn't that nice we book ahead and make a reservation for our anniversary and they cancel our reservation as we are all dressed up and ready to leave. Expect to get your reservation cancelled and just a "sorry about that" statement from the classy management. Avoid your special occassion booking.
And to your response Steve, I consider not accommodating our patio reservation a cancellation on your part. Glad you admit skrewing up but you are deflecting saying "considering the circumstance". No, this is your circumstance you created due to you dropping the ball. Nope sorry will not recommend someone booking a reservation with your restaurant as you will probably drop someones special occassion and give them a "sorry about that" response and defend your own personal "circumstances".

We have been to this location many times since it opened and absolutely love it! The atmosphere is so inviting, very hip and friendly. “The Rock” is the bar and a great hang, dining room is a great place to bring the family.
Tbh the very best part is the food, everything is so fresh and I have never had a bad meal there.

First time being in a bar, everyone including the staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The menu is incredible with many delicious drinks and food you could think of. I would give 6 stars if possible. Thank you for such an amazing experience that I will never forget. -Andrew

Very nice environment to hang out with family and friends. Foods are all well served and delicious and my kids liked their kids menu too.staff are so friendly and always check to see if you need something. %100 recommend and for sure going back for a new taste!

A good place for bar food. A social place but don't expect high end food or fine dining. Sports bar at reasonable prices. Drinks menu is great.

Overall a good bar and grill. Good selection of food, pricea were reasonable. Short rib sandwich was buttery good.

Short on craft beer selection - desperately need some local IPAs in the house.

Good service and good server to patron ratio.

Food is quite good for a pub. They have some craft beer, but not much selection or rotation. Service is always great.

Over all foods and service is good. But the soup with hair and waitress immediate change for us.

Everytime we’ve come to this location the changing table has been out of order, this has been almost a year!

Good atmosphere, fair prices, and really good food. Close to home so this is always our #1 choice!

We took my mother in law for a wonderful Mothers Day lunch. Our waitress Mica was amazing! She was thorough and just all around an amazing experience. Food was great. We were so happy to know there was one in Maple Ridge. We frequent Langley but don’t have to drive far now! Highly recommend this location!

Great customer service from start to finish. I had the taco salad bowl and my husband had the Thai salad. Both were flavourful. This was our first time at a Sammy J"s. We will be back.

Staff were polite and our waitress did a good job, unfortunately the food was awful — we received cold pasta, cold potatoes skins with no condiments and soggy salad that appeared to be a day old.

Service was amazing Food not up to expectations for the price. Lots of choices on the menu and great happy hour drinks.

The owner at Jimmy's in Maple Ridge takes such good care of the customers and the preparation of the food it's amazing. Bring your taste buds and your appetite and you will be very happy. Consistently great food.

Had an amazing time! It was Thursday so wine bottles were on discount *whooo* service was great. We ordered steaks, my friends was better so after shyly telling the amazing waitress Kirstin, she immediately grabbed my plate and made a new steak for me. My steak went from a Toyota Echo to a Lamborghini in 10 mins. Best steak ever! Also the strawberry lemonades are amazing. Thank youuuu xoxo

Fantastic dining experience! We sat at the bar which was lovely with the wide-open patio doors.so bright and airy. The food, drinks and service were all wonderful. Fav menu items so far: Blackjack Chicken Appy, Cajun Tater Tots, The Italian Job Chicken Sammy, the Blackened Cajun Chicken Dinner and the Reese's Peanut Butter Pie. This will definitely be a regular go-to for us:)

My friends and I visited Sammy j’s last weekend and we had a disappointing experience. We came for happy hour and when we ordered highballs, our server asked us if we wanted singles or doubles but did not wait for us to respond and got us doubles, when we truly wanted singles. We mentioned this to him as we were paying our bill but he ignored us. We also were asked to pay our bills after an hour and a half of being in the restaurant because our server wanted to go home. When we asked him why he wanted to come home (perhaps he wasn’t feeling well) he said he wanted to go get “hammered” which was very unprofessional. We ended up having to go to the hostess to request a new server since our original server was pressuring us to leave. We reached out to management because we felt the situation was unusual for a franchise but they have yet to respond. We will not be going back.

Like the location, like the restaurant. 4 of us, for Happy Hour applies. Panko shrimps were great. Good wings and sweet potato fries. Potato skins were very good too. Price was right and service was great

Decided to try it out since it’s a new place, ordered take out last night and again today. The first time they forgot toppings on my $19 salad which is expensive to begin with let alone without the toppings I was expecting. And then tonight I ordered the blackened chicken penne pasta, got home opened it up and theres BARELY any sauce on the pasta. No exaggeration I bit into some dry noodles. My boyfriend had ordered this same pasta last night and it was good which is why I decided to order it tonight, but I got the short end of the stick twice in a row. Took 1hr for the food. So needless to say Im very disappointed, I don’t know if they are struggling because it is a new place but has made me not want to order from there again.

Food was great. Service was ok. Very loud. I didn't have my hearing aids in, and the reverberating sound was painfully loud. Noise dampening is definitely needed for this room. We were not the only ones to complain about the noise level. Probably won't go back until this issue is resolved.

It's great to have a new restaurant in the heart of Maple Ridge downtown. There is a new level of energy that comes from a vibrant happening place in the core.
Bonus: The food and staff are great. I've tried a lot of the appetizers and also I love the New Orlean's Combo Skillet.
Extra bonus: They have several great wines including Burrowing Owl and Caymus at very reasonable prices - especially on UnWine Thursdays.

Loved the place! The food was amazing. The staff are awesome and positive same with the owners. My Uncle is ur electrician hehe overall it's worth it! Fun filled place

First time ordering from the new Maple Ridge location… absolutely fantastic experience. We held a memorial celebration and ordered several family sized servings of a variety of menu items and every item was excellent. I highly recommend Sammys!

None of the staff (servers, bartenders, hosts or KITCHEN staff) wore masks. Service wasn’t very good. Very unorganized. Won’t be back.

It was busy on a Saturday night, we were in and out, good food, had the fajitas, casual vibe, maybe need a tap menu rather than just wine. Had a good time.

Amelia was quite honestly the best Host i've had since the pandemic started. Absolutely positive smile and attitude for a hard time for the restaurant business and our server Diego was nice too! Please give Amelia a raise and definitely keep her.

Great service. Good food. Average pricing for food and drinks. The only issue that we had is the volume inside. They need some type of noise dampening because we walked out with headaches and sore throats from having to talk so loudly just to be heard at our 4 person table.

Despite the initial hiccup with the order Diego and Kayleigh more than made up for the mistake by making us feel valued. We will definitely be back!

Love the atmosphere of this location. I feel like we’re in Yale Town. The staff went above and beyond with their hospitality to make sure we had a great experience. Our food was amazing as it always is. Well done you guys! We’ll be back for sure!
