Sandman Hotel Abbotsford Airport

I stayed there for One night I really like the hotel. It’s very nice and clean. The rooms are big, beds are comfortable
The front desk staff HARSH & SUKHMAN were very helpful and friendly they made my stay more good

I had a really long day of airports, when I finally arrived the staff was super quick and friendly and helpful! Two guys that stood out were harsh and sukhman

Clean, cozy and handy to the airport or highway 1. Really good customer service. For fans of the Grand Slam breakfast, there is a well-run Dennys at the hotel.

First impression of the hotel room: Friendly staff, clean common areas, nice and comfy theme colours and atmosphere.

Hotel Room itself: Faded leather on the headrest, wear and tear seen on furniture, ok amount of lighting. However, the wifi was very spotty and kept disconnecting potentially due to my room being the far end corner and due to this hotel stay being a business one, it was important for me to have good wifi connection. I talked to the hotel staff and they tried to solve my issue by providing another network and network password for me to use but no improvement to my actual wifi connection. So the day after, I went down to the front desk and they offered to change my room to being closer to the server room. It was quite the hassle for me as the hotel room lock had problems and I had to go up and down the elevator several times to get it all sorted out. And if I am being honest, the wear and tear in the room decor, leather headrest, and washroom looks even worse in this new room as indicated in my pictures. Overall, the hotel provides a bed for me to sleep and has basic amenities, but don’t expect anything newly renovated or any hint of luxury. The location of being close to highway and mall was a plus and well appreciated.

This used to be our go to for an Abbotsford stay. NEVER! AGAIN! I don't ever complain or post any inconveniences we experience. But this needs to be shared.
Night 1:
Our room has mold in the shower and pink mildew in the bathroom. (Pics uploaded)
The glasses (real glass ones) were used.by someome else. And put back on the tray with the little paper caps on them to indicate clean and ready for use. (Pics uploaded)
The tv remote is almost useless, broken and looks like its been thrown a few times at a wall. (Pic uploaded) The wi-fi is non-existant and constantly connects and disconnects.
And the cherry on top.our trucks gas tank was punctured so the thieves could steal our gas, what they could get anyways. I thought the hotel is partly responsible, but thought wrong.
We were basically told " oh so sorry nothing we can do. You can Call the police and file a report. They will question us and will be granted access to security footage. And that their cameras don't really see over there so the footage unfortunately won't be helpdul. Again, sorry. Anything else we can do? "
Sad to see how run down and poorly managed this Sandman has become.
We had our truck towed, Sandman still has not cleaned their parking lot from the gas spill and absorbant granules the fire department spread out. So guests are still driving over and walking through gas.
We don't have any word on our truck for repair yet, so we needed the room for another night. I asked if we can stay another night, and also asked if we could be accommodated a room since this happened on their property. He said "let me speak to our manager. " We were offered $53CAD off our room and a $30 food voucher.
"Our rooms are regularly $239, but we will charge $130 for the nights stay. "
I've included the photo of our hotel confirmation with the room rate we were given when we booked, it was $183 a night when we booked for a weekend "get away".
NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN! Will we stay here.

We learned that this is not the first time there has been issues with security here. There have been many guests whose vehicles have been broken into, and looking at other reviews, a guests vehicle was stolen 10ft from their front door.
I've included photos of the aftermath, the chalk outline, if you will, of our trucks demise.
We were told the calls to police for incidents here are frequent and we were strongly urged to never stay here again.
We will do just that and we will warn others as well. BEWARE. STAY AWAY.

I’m not sure what was louder, the 1970s AC unit, or the noise of every vehicle that passed by which you can hear due to the poor quality of the old windows.

The beds are old and lumpy, and the room is worse for wear.

Giving stars for the wonderful people who work here. Just don’t stay here if you want to sleep.

It was a warm welcome by Satvik at upfront. He help me out with the room and explained everything very well

I stayed here with my family. At first, the shower in my room did not drain properly (took too long to drain). I found this out around 11pm. I called the front desk to complain and I called multiple times but no answer. After 1.5 hours of calling intermittently, I finally got someone who asked me to come down and get a key to a different room. They didn’t offer to even help me move my things or some form of courtesy around the issues I complained about. I’m an RSVP rewards member and this was one of my not so good experience in this chain.

Arsh and Harsh were excellent at handling a large number of us who needed accommodation due to a delayed flight.

My flight was cancelled and I had to stay in Abbotsford for the night. A city I didn't know which made me feel very home sick. The staff made me feel so welcomed and got rid of the home sick feeling for me. Definitely would recommend!

The common areas of the hotel are clean and well-kept. Front desk staff are generally friendly. There’s also a large parking lot on both sides of the hotel with ample parking spots. Note though that this hotel is frequented by construction and rail workers so there is often large trucks in the lot. With that being said, we were still always able to find parking.

However, the rooms are overdue for an upgrade. The sofa in our room was sacked out, one of the glass tables in our room was broken (the entire glass top was just balanced on a single post in the middle and the glue had come off), the headboard was old and it’s surface started to flake, and the room’s heating/cooling unit smelled a bit musty. The hotel chain also does not do regular housekeeping unless requested. However, we requested a full room clean once during our two week stay only to come back to the room and the bed was just remade with the same sheets. The wifi barely worked - and didn’t work at all in the bedroom which was furthest from the hallway. The Ethernet port in our room also didn’t work.

The hallways also didn’t smell that great the entire time we were there but thankfully it didn’t come into the room. A few times, we found that someone propped open the door to the pool and hot tub which made the entire first floor and lobby super humid. When we asked the front desk about this, they said it was to help vent the pool and hot tub area. I’d beware of this if you choose to stay on the first floor.

Getting in and out of the parking lot is a bit of a pain. You can only access the hotel parking lot heading northbound on Mt Lehman. When you exit, you can also only head north on Mt Lehman.

All in all, it still is one of the only nicer hotel options in Abbotsford. It’s definitely time the city gets another hotel option.

I had a long flight delay and got put up at the sandman. There was a problem with my check in code, however Arsh and Harsh were amazing at helping trouble shoot and sort out my booking! Thanks guys! Also the rooms are so nice and clean!

Clean room. Decent view. Location was perfect for our needs.

Only complaint is the pool. The water was WAY too warm and the air temperature in the pool room had me break into a sweat the moment I walked in the door.

Most hotels have the opposite problem! First time I’ve ever experienced a pool that was too warm!

Nice & quite rooms, stayed for short term Satvik & Ahmed helped with quick check-in.definitely choosing this property for future stays.

Shrey is very knowledgeable about the hotel and the area. He suggested some good restaurants in the area for dinner for me and my friends. We had an amazing night. Milestones was a great choice. Thanks shrey!
