Sandman Hotel Victoria

Aside from free parking, I would have been cheaper staying at the Marriott Inner Harbour. - The drinks, apples and popcorn in the room was appreciated; as was the morning coffee and apples set up downstairs every morning.

I went to Denny's restaurant with a friend today. The service was good and the food was delicious.

The hotel management was awful they threatened to kick our whole hockey team out for shenanigans with little to no warning.

Bed was very worn out. Room dated. Front desk was not helpful with any questions. At least there was free parking.

Group oof youngster's running around, knocking on doors. I understand that they are boared left for hours on there own. Shame on thecsupervisors and the staff for not intervining.
Neighborhood with homeless and added people does not give a safe feeling

Stay was great. Had everything we needed. Staff were great. Complimentary breakfast was nice, and lots of brochures and coupons for things to do around town in the lobby.

Staying here has been the worst experience of my life. It's unclear who is managing this place, but an immediate replacement of the responsible individual is necessary, along with a complete overhaul of the useless staff.

To begin with, the room reeked of urine. While I understand it's a pet-friendly location and we were on the designated floor, such a repulsive environment is inexcusable. The decision to use a dark brown carpet in a pet-friendly room baffles me – is it an attempt to conceal the pee stains?

We found leftover food behind the bed and even someone's underwear in the middle of the floor. The gym was equally appalling, clearly devoid of regular cleaning. Despite my daily use, the towels I placed in the hamper were collected maybe twice. This negligence extended throughout the hotel, as even the lobby felt unclean and uncomfortable.

Furthermore, the air from the AC carried a disgusting odor, the vents were probably dirty as hell. Adding on to everything, we encountered a bed bug in our room, which the staff attempted to blame on us. Their response was a mere "deep cleaning" of the room, likely limited to vacuuming the unsanitary carpet. I wouldn’t even let an animal stay in this hotel, they would probably go home with fleas.

The behavior of the staff was also incredibly bizarre. One individual repeatedly lingered by the door while I exercised, and later spoke to me in the hallway with an unsettling invitation to let him know if I needed anything. He specifically mentioned that he sees me in the gym and gestured mysteriously toward a location, and told me that there’s always a surprise there. If i wasn’t already at my room door when this incident happened I would have been terrified. Luckily my dad was there so the man left me alone. These incidents further highlight the need for a complete overhaul of the entire staff.

I also forgot to mention that if you ask them to clean your room, they will not clean your shower or replace your towels unless you ask.

Eventually, I got tired of it all and asked to speak to a manager. The man at the front desk told me he was the manager, which i’m pretty sure was a lie? On the TV In the lobby it said the general manager of the hotel was a woman’s name. However, I still told this random worker about my grievances and how our bathroom was not cleaned during room service. He was nice enough to come do it himself, but he did not take out the trash or replace our shampoo.
Why he lied in the first place is honestly beyond me, but in the end he was just as useless as the rest of the staff. I really tried to give this place a chance but it’s disgusting.

In summary, garbage hotel, garbage staff, garbage experience. My disgust knows no bounds.

I had a wonderful experience at the Sandman Hotel in Victoria. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. Every staff member I encountered, from the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! They all go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Exceptional Stay with Newly Renovated Rooms and Outstanding Service by Louise at the rest of the staff. Worth coming back!

Rates are reasonable since rooms are newly renovated. Rooms are clean, unfortunately restaurant is currently closed due to renovation but they offer quality snacks in the morning. At check in, Louise was great, From the moment I arrived, she greeted me with a warm smile and ensured that all my needs were met. Thank you to all the staff and housekeeping who made our stay enjoyable.

Very friendly staff. We certainly didn't mind not having daily room cleaning and going to the front desk for coffee etc.but some people might. We would stay again next time we're viviting Victoria

The bedsheets and duvet cover were extremely dirty with hair all over. I have never stayed in such an unhygienic hotel. Asked the staff at front desk to change it. He got a new cover but that too was stained. I couldn't sleep all night and was so tired that forgot to take my down jacket from the room when checking out. Called the hotel and they said we didn't find it. Just last week I was at sandman plano and it was so much better than victoria which makes me think it's not the hotel chain but this particular location that has no regard for their guests. I have pictures of the bedsheets and duvet cover. I should post them on social media to help others not have such pathetic experience.

Super overpriced rooms that weren't cleaned properly (garbage left from previous guest). Woke up with no water to unit. So many other better hotels in area

Pool broke on the day I arrived with my 3 kids, which was our main reason for using this hotel. Also, sofa bed was so uncomfortable even my 11 year old couldn't sleep there. The room setup was nice, but there weren't even dishes for more than 2 people even though the room sleeps 6, and a full sized coffee pot would be nice in a family suite. I felt there should have been a bit of a discount or coupon for future visit since the pool was out of service. Also parkade was basically unusable due to renovations, so ended up getting snowed in at the parking lot. It was good you had a shovel to borrow though, I know that much snow is not a regular thing.

We stayed here, on a business trip, about 4 years ago and I am afraid that the hotel has gone down hill from there. We witnessed open drug use in the parking lot, vomit smelling rooms having us conclude that it was not cleaned properly, and prevalent homeless around the property. This was not the case when we stayed previously. Also had a sense that the hotel was short staffed and were just barely holding things together. This being said, I am well aware of the labor shortage in this industry and this hotel is not the only one I have stayed at recently that is showing this stress at the customer level. And while the location of this hotel is ideal for a Victoria visit and doing business, I am afraid we won't be back for a while, if at all, unless we see it be returned to its previous state of cleanliness and staffing levels.

We were particularly happy with the service from Louise Osiana at the front desk. She was polite, informative, and very helpful.

Rooms are fine but hot tub is luke warm at best. Stayed here for multiple weeks and there were only 2 days where it could actually considered a 'hot' tub and not a 'luke warm' tub.

Best customer service I’ve ever had, I had a bit of an issue and my problem was resolved far beyond my expectations. Really appreciated what was done for us, thank you!

I would not recommend. I had orignally booked a suite with a kitchennette. The first room I went in to smelled so bad of cigarettes that I literally walked in, turned around and walked back to the lobby. I was then moved to a room without a kitchenette and still charged the same daily rate. This room was not terrible but also smelled off. I then left for dinner, where I had to go elsewhere because the onsite restaurant was closed and I did not know when I booked. Then I came back later in the evening and the room was too warm. Was going to open a window but that was not an option in this room. So I turned the fan on, to which shorty after running the fan, this room also smelled terrible of cigarettes. Since it was late I called the front desk and told them I would be checking out in the morning, rather than stay my intended 5 nights. I will not stay nor recommend this property to anyone.

I have stayed at the Sandman in different location over 70 times in the last 4 years and never had such a bad experience. I had to get my own towels and coffee condiments, could not use elevator key in the last night staying because it expired and had to renew just after a long day at a wedding, MOLD in the shower (unsafe), lights on in restaurant on but closed the time we were there. Over all I would never stay there again or recommend if anything voice to everyone I know to NOT stay at that location. Left a email with guest relations and not even a reply or phone call. Most concern is the exposure to the MOLD every day for 4 days while staying.

The sandman hotel is an excellent place in Victoria. Close to downtown, and in a perfect shopping location. Thank you to Amy for making my stay so enjoyable. Her personality and uplifting smile made the hotel inviting and made my stay that much better.

Friendly staff! They all smile at you. There was a complication with my room with it having to be switched, but they told us once we got there instead of giving us an earlier notice which would have been more appreciated. They give you extra stuff when you need ask for it (toothbrush, tooth paste, blankets, etc).

Stayed over 2 weeks here and still here. This Sandman is great. The staff have been wonderful to us

The room was dirty, food debris on curtains! (at least I think it was food). Dirty pillows and the kitchenette had missing items- no dish soap or was cloths. I had to ask for the room to be cleaned again and even then, the lettuce on the carpet was still there.
Lots of renovations were happening, and the hallways were covered in dust, plaster board and other reno stuff, during my entire stay. As for the noise.drilling started right on 8am and went through the day. Not a very relaxing stay. TV remote controls didn’t work. Kettle didn’t work. Knives were broken.

Older hotel bit expensive the food at shark club is average the kitchen is small rooms are okay alot of bums and crackhead walking around Delta hotel is way better. No soap in shower or shampoo I would say average at best. I'm wouldn't stay here next time. Too expensive for older hotel!

We had a great stay at sandman Victoria. I love that it’s pet friendly. Loved the location, staff and rooms were spacious for family of 4 and a pet

A false fire alarm was put on during night time for the purpose to write digital stories. My whole stay there was a propaganda for Amrit's Music. I felt crooked things but at that time I did not know the reality. CBC radio station was very close to it. I was given room facing towards CBC radio. I believe they were watching me in my room thru binoculars, the room had an angle towards CBC.

This hotel is a mixed bag.
The good:
The beds are okay.
The pool is a good temperature and size.
The hot tub jets are nice and strong
The elevator and stairs are secure requiring a keycard to access
Downtown location in easy walking distance from the arena

The bad:
The guest WIFI loses its connection frequently.
The soundproofing is poor
They are currently renovating so daytime construction is loud
The secure underground parking barely exists right now because it is mostly blocked off for the renovations
the bathroom shower heads are too low for taller people
AC works, but is extra noisy sounding like it needs a tuneup
Very basic cable TV

I had an extended stay here while attending school for several months. It was great, super friendly staff and nice room. Walking distance from lots of good breweries.

Room was very musty and no windows to open and air out, stayed there on our last night as it was close to airport. Disappointing since we have better experiences and expectations fir Sandman Hotels

Amazingly clean rooms. Hot tub and pool were a very welcome bonus. For a hotel that is so close to a main road. It sure was soundproof.
We look forward to staying here again

Terrible parking when its busy day/time.bad experience receptionist Jon W.was so rude, seems like he is not working on hospitality business. When I check in the receptionist told me that I can park in 1 of the spot designated for 15 minutes check in because I got a van with some tools and equipment. He was not so friendly told me that I am not allowed to park there. Told him that the 1st reception told me I can park there he told me, its not him and insist that I am not allow to park there. Our company send out multiple tech here in Island all year round definitely will not recommend to my peers to stay in this hotel for that bad experience. Oh that guy Jon W.on name tag should not even be there in front desk he seem not so friendly all: (

We stayed there for 3 days and soap dispenser was empty for all three days no one filled it up!

Clean, great bedding, comfortable. Pool could have been a bit warmer and hot tub a bit cooler. We had a very peaceful time.

Great hotel, beds were comfy and rooms were quiet and dark. If you're looking for a place to stay for work would definitely recommend staying here. Staff were friendly, helpful and check in/out was quick and easy. The pool and hot tub were both open too!

Nice hotel, but won’t come back because of their TV. We were unable to connect our Apple TV because their TV didn’t have an HDMI port; this jeans we couldn’t plug our Apple TV in. We travel everywhere with our Apple TV so we can watch our shows just like we do at home (we travel A LOT for both work and pleasure), hotels that prevent us from using it don’t get our business again. If you don’t travel with your Apple TV, I highly recommend you do and that you stay in hotels that allow you to utilize it.

My stay at the Sandman was a great experience the staff were very helpful in recommending awesome restraunts to dine at and were in a cheerful spirit with outstanding helpfulness in places to see and the manager Amy is doing an amazing job with the hard work of accommodating all walks of life and making Sandman the best place to stay in Victoria while working or vacationing there in our provincial capital of beautiful British Columbia.keep up the awesome work and thank you for your great team of worker's.mussi cho

Worst place ever! I booked my reservation on a Sunday for a three night stay! And ended up having to cancel my reservation due to the lack of knowledge of the staff who clearly when booking a suit didn’t know what a suit was. Soooooo disappointing I will never recommend them to anyone. Last minute I had to cancel and try to find a new hotel for my kids so I wouldn’t ruin there trip

Had a mishap with check out, the owner seen my review contacted me right away and sorted it out. Very much appreciated the service.

Really really disappointing experience. We had one of their staff enter our room while we were in it. I reported it to management and they handled it well but it happened for a second time! One of the house keeping staff tried to enter our room at 930 in the morning. I want a feeling of comfort and safety when I stay somewhere and that is definitely not what I recived.

The building is kind of old and beds are full size which was a bit small so you may want to confirm and ask if bigger beds are available. However everything was clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. If you're not looking for lots of amenities and somewhere close to DT Victoria this is a good option.

Usually where we stay when we are in the city, as it is reasonably priced and offers the basic amenities. Our most recent stay the underground parking was full for a sporting event at the attached bar, so we parked in front of the hotel. Our car was broken into and over $1500 worth of tools and equipment were taken as well as our ignition system ruined ($400). While waiting for our tow and cleaning up the mess the thieves made of our vehicle I spoke with manager regarding our situation. He told me there is nothing they can do and the person checking us in should have told us not to leave valuables in our car (he made no mention of it, although there is a sign near the front entrance hidden by a flower planter if you're really looking for it). Overall very disappointed with how the manager handled the situation. Telling us that yes they could have helped identify the thieves if they had security cameras, as all the police in the area know all the thieves. The manager played the situation off like it happens all the time and it was my fault for not knowing any better. The hotel should do more for the safety of its guests and their belongings and actually help rectify situations when they happen. Definitely not worth the $2000 to stay here for the night, and will not be returning.

They're very friendly and approachable. They show the enthusiastic nature for the People that stay there, by keeping them comfortable.

I felt the receptionist here was a bit pompous. The room was a little more costly than I anticipated and she seemed quite pleased that we had little options based on our timing. I felt taunted by her, like she had some power over me.

Also, I asked for a King which was unavailable so they offered me a Queen. Halfway through the night when my partner and I are tossing and turning we realize were on a double.

I mentioned it in the morning and instead of apologizing and offering to remedy the problem it became an argument about "what the computer says" okay cool story. I got better things to do than fight with hotel staff about dumb things.

I would have recommended Sandman, as they have always been my go-to, but as the saying goes "CUSTOMER SERVICE IS DEAD" and I can say for certain it definitely applies to the Sandman in Victoria, BC.

Great hotel, great structure, parking, room etc. I'm giving 4 stars for the fact that it's pretty far away to walk if you decide to drink and leave the car behind. And we were told the Shark's would be open until 2am and it closed at 12, which is ok we just wished we had the right info so we wouldn't starve. I loved the room with the coffee maker, delicious.

Rooms old and dated. Had to pay for breakfast. Most hotels have free breakfast. Very low toilets. Not for older folks. Very uncomfortable pillows.

Worst experience I ever had. I have a corporate account with the sandman and we always do jewellery sales in sandman. But this time in banquet hall no coffee no glasses and no body is here to help.staff is very rude and unprofessional. They need to get some training. I will think next time twice to book this hotel and banquet hall.

Bed and pillows were super comfy, and the room was quiet. Shower was so powerful it could take your skin off and I loved it. Staff was very polite and helpful.
Only downside was the walls, drapes, and corners of the room were stained and dirty. The bed and the bathroom were spotless, though, so my stay was still comfortable!

Rooms are very dated. Wifi is terrible. One bed for $210 at a discounted team rate? Not worth the price.

The front reception person at night was just rude. I have stayed at many Sandman hotels in Vancouver and Surrey but found the experience in Victoria one awful.

I stopped by here to visit a friend. She was very happy with her room which was beautiful. Downstairs they have coffee shop and a bar/lounge. My friend have no complaints and enjoyed her stay there.

This is a clean, comfortable hotel with friendly staff but is better suited to business travel because of its location. We visited as tourists and as such would prefer to be able to walk to the harbour comfortably. The hotel has strict security. You cannot use the elevator or stairs without a room key. Another guest told me it was because there's a lot of" bums" in the area. I would not like to walk there after dark. If you are travelling only by car then it's fine and there is free parking which is a bonus as we paid 20 dollars plus tax per day at other hotels.

Good city hotel. Conveniently situated. Free parking and WLAN.
Large spacious room. Bathroom OK.
A star trigger for the windows which cannot be opened and for the hair in the clean bed.
