Sandman Inn Blue River

It is absolutely very old. At the moment they are trying to improve the external impression with a little paint. However, when you enter the room, you immediately notice the musty smell. The staff is absolutely friendly and accommodating.
All in all, I was happy to continue driving the next day.

Basic room with very poor and limited tv reception. Beds and linens were excellent. Night desk clerk was great.

The place was really dirty and hadn't been upkept very well. Used cleaning wipes on the window sills and they were black. Dead bugs in the sills. Beetles in the room. Requested upper floor and upon arrival was informed there were no upper floor rooms even though I book the room months ago.

Rooms felt very dingy and grimy. Lots of dust everywhere. Not very clean at all and when we checked into our room the door was slightly ajar which was disconcerting.
Locating was very convenient however and having an attached restaurant is nice.

It was a little pricy for a hotel without amenities like a hot tub or pool though it has a restaurant. The rooms were basic what you would expect from a motel. A single room for 1 night will run u 150.00

Food is somewhat good if they have the ingredients, place shows it's age but staff was friendly and timely on our order.

After a very long and challenging day of travel, my family and I found ourselves in Blue River in the middle of the night seriously needing a place to get some sleep. The night manager (I’m so sorry I’ve forgotten your name as I was beyond exhausted) was AMAZING! I let him know our situation and he was able to accommodate us in the middle of the night without hesitation. The room was clean and the beds were super cozy! Bonus that they are also pet friendly! To the night manager directly- thank you so incredibly much for giving us a place to stay where we could get rest and be safe and sound for the rest of our journey!

Older hotel but comfy beds. Was also surprised how quiet it was during the night. Check in was fast, staff very friendly. Would stay here again.

It was suitable for our needs, but would have loved a good cup of coffee and found the coffee in the room undrinkable. However they did give us some apple juice as we checked out which was appreciated.

Decent stop with very friendly service. Room was ok, reasonable value. Nearby restaurants were short staffed (like everywhere), and closed early so food was a bit tough.

It is an older motel but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The TV had several channels and free coffee in the morning in your room.

The people who run this little spot are the kindest and helped me before I asked.made sure I had a clear path to get where I desperately needed to go.somehow a snowplow was in front of me the whole way

Rooms are clean with an induction stove in a 2 bed room. Located in the right spot and you'll find a couple of gas stations close by the premise. The only surprising part is the physical keys for the door whereas you'll provide digital keys everywhere else. That's not a big deal though, but I still wanted to highlight.

Stayed overnight on my trip from Penticton to Blue River and Jasper. The manager couple was super nice and helpful. Room on the simpler side but very clean and the bathroom of this more basic “Sandman Inn” was better than in many regular Sandman Hotels. Can recommend!

A great pit stop on my journey to williams lake. The Grill restaurant attached to the sandman will have your mouth drooling for more.

Smells its age with a hint of cigarette smoke. Walls are paper thin. Great if you're with the guys on a sled trip, but if you want to sleep you better be exhausted. Wouldn't repeat.

Front desk taking personal call from a friend on the hotel phone while i was at the desk waiting to finish check in. Arrived in room, bathroom floor has hair all over the floor, baseboards are caked in dirt and dust, coffee still in the coffee pot from previous guest. Definitely not worth $145 a night, especially when advertised for $125 online!

Dale the manager was very helpful and able to find me a room after a long day of driving from Alberta even though they were fully booked. The room was cozy and clean with stylish decor. I will definitely recommend this excellent motel in the middle of nowhere and don't forget to check out their restaurant for a memorable stay.

Not bad for the money but we were put off by the restaurant door. The smudges and fingerprints and scotch tape remnants on that glass door were clearly visible from the check-in counter. As a former restaurateur my first impression was very negative. The hotel manager ought to have mandated a clean door.

Stayed for a single night. The bed was pretty comfortable. Had the best meatball sub from the restaurant.

I stayed at the Sandman Inn from 5pm until morning on my way home from Alberta. Upon arriving the staff were very friendly. The price was what I could afford. I was thrilled with the room. It was clean and the bed was comfortable as were the pillows and comforter. I thoroughly enjoyed soaking in the deep tub after a long drive. There was tea and coffee available with the pot to make it in. It was very quiet and I enjoyed watching TV while relaxing before having an excellent night of sleep. When I got home, I realized that my spare car key was missing. Sure enough, the staff at Sandman found it and turned it in. They were kind enough to mail it back to me without charge. I highly recommend the Sandman Inn to anyone passing through or staying in the area. I really don't understand any of the bad reviews I've read but maybe it was because of the smoke from forest fires. I found none of that to be true in my case. I highly recommend this Inn and have been telling that to all my acquaintances.

We couldn't have been happier with our stay.
We were in the middle of a 14hr drive and predicted that we would be sleeping in Blue River BC. The reviews of this establishment were sketchy at best and fortunately the other lodge was full because we certainly would have missed the opportunity to enjoy the well appointed, exceptional clean, and recently renovated room that they had to offer.
I simply do not understand where these negative reviews are coming from. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable room, with a big friendly guy named Dale at your service this place is for you.

Fridge didn't work in room initially assigned to us. Reassigned to another room with functional fridge and kitchen suite (bonus). TV only had analog service, but not a big deal since we had good WiFi. Hotel is definitely dated, but clean.

You get what you pay for. Clean beds and bathrooms. That's about it. Don't expect any higher in this pandemic times.

Very good hotel, with a great restaurant attached to it. Helpful and friendly staff, very nice rooms, close proximity to everything this small town has to offer.

We stayed in room 125 on Aug 1,2021. Our room was disgusting. The windowsill was covered in bugs and the curtains were stained. The bed covering was also stained and after pulling it back, we found that the bedsheets had not been changed, the bed was just re-made with old sheets, hair and all. Went to use the sink only to have it start to overflow because it was clogged. Decided to look around and found a nice big cockroach in the bedside table drawer. Scooped it up with a paper and flushed it before thinking to take pictures. Felt kinda dirty after that but the shower was no help. Shampoo bottles were half full from previous guests. Decided to sleep with our clothes on and get out early in the morning and when we went to lock up the room, found that the whole door jam was busted and repaired from what I would guess was someone kicking the door in. As for the restaurant, the guy was super rude and yelled at us and when he gave us our cutlery, it had hair wrapped around it. Decided to order food to the room instead. Would I recommend this hotel? I would recomend spending the extra hour and driving to Valemount or Clearwater instead.

Bad! Do not accept room 106 for the standard room rate. It has no clothes closet. No breakfast, no pool. I could go on.

Very old and dated hotel. No hand towels, and only one face cloth provided. Crumbling concrete in front of our door, huge tripping hazard. Came with a coffee maker, but no cups. Broken shelves in the mini fridge. Window sheers were torn at the bottom. I know that folks don't always get the best rooms when traveling with dogs, but this place was dumpy. Not staying here ever again.

My wife and I arrived to find our room looked like someone had slept on the bed. There were bugs in the bathroom and a few on the bed. Could hear the person above moving around and talking as if the ceiling and walls were paper thin. It looks like the door could be kicked in my a 10 year old. The reception area smelled of smoke. We decided to check out other hotels in the town but they were all booked up or reception was closed. We decided to drop off our key and get the heck out of there. Out $130 but we had a much better sleep 2.5 hours away in Kamloops at a much much better hotel for only $20 more. I wasn’t going to make my wife sleep at the Sandman in Blue River.

Made a last minute reservation through Expedia last Saturday night. Very good experience. Pet friendly. Room had nice amenities and was clean. Nice deep tub. Lots of pillows. Comfortable beds. Only $10 extra for a pet.

Got the King sweet. The whole hotel is fairly run down inside and out. Room was full of mosquitoes and those little black flies.got bit up all night. Shower head was more like one of those produce misters at the grocery store. Definitely prefer the Saddle lodged room I stayed in the last time I was in town.

Drove 6 hours from Vancouver to our booked rooms at sandman only to be utterly disappointed with the state of the rooms. We booked 3 double rooms in total, and all three of them had hairs and stains on them. They manager offered us 3 rooms on the upper floor instead and when we checked, we found the same issue. It's mostly likely an issue with cleaning the sheets. The manager was kind enough to give us a refund, but nothing is more frustrating than coming to uncleaned hotel room after a tiring drive.

The place was really run down and the entire building smelt like smoke. Was very difficult for us to get settled in even for just one night. Was not worth the cost of the hotel at all whatsoever. There were so many bugs in the room I almost packed up and left before the night was over. Highly recommended not staying here, especially if you have a family as you can tell every room is smoked in constantly.

Reception and restaurant staff unmasked in the third wave of the covid-19 pandemic during interprovincial travel was restrictions. Restaurant staff surly. Property dirty. Room dirty. Wifi: 3 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload. Quiet though, and reception was warm. The Glacier Mountain Lodge next door looks nice.

Nicely renovated rooms, nice comforters on beds lots of pillows, fridge, micro, hotplate. The restaurant has awesome food and service.

Older hotel/motel that could use some upgrades, but still comfortable, clean, and quiet. No problems parking the sled trailer, nice to have ground level outside access to rooms when packing gear. Tons of good food options on the menu at The Grill for breakfast/dinner. No complaints.

Far exceeded expectation every time i stayed here while working in the region. Great, friendly management and clean rooms where everything works. Awesome place to stay.

Booked adjoining rooms 3 days before our arrival. Traveling with my 84 year old mother.
When we arrived they had given away the rooms.
The room they gave us was so small and crowded that I could not walk beside mom to help her walk. When I helped her to the bathroom. I had to put the garbage can in the bathtub and then there was mouse poop under it. One small chair in the room and when I moved it out of the corner of the room for easier access for mom,

Check in was quick and easy, front desk staff was friendly. The room was nothing fancy but we just needed a place to rest for the night and we got a decent sleep. We ate at the restaurant attached to the hotel for dinner and breakfast, reasonable prices for the portions you get and the meals were tasty. My husband especially enjoyed the chicken a la king soup. We would stay again if we happened to be passing through the area.

My husband and I stopped over during a long road trip because our original plans were cancelled due to a road washout. We were able to get a room no problem. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet, the wifi was really fast, and the bed and pillows were super comfy. My only (tiny) complaint is that the shower didn't have a lot of pressure, but the building is older so this was expected. No problems with water heat at all, though!
We did accidentally blow a breaker by running the AC and the toaster oven at the same time, so be careful with this if you stay here! The desk staff were understanding and flipped the breaker back on for us within minutes of our call.
Will definitely stay again if we find ourselves in Blue River!

Great little bar to stop for a wobbly pop, hotels good if your snowwed out, beds are great, pillows to big and bulky for me, but if you like them like that this is your place.
Stunk like dirty feet in our room, but if it wasn't for that I would have given another star.
Kitchenettes great for snowmobillers.

Stayed here with a friend while snowmobiling for the weekend. I left a $5 tip on my bed for the room cleaner. The room cleaner only made my bed and didn’t make up my friends bed or clean the toilet. Price was a little on the high side. Beds were comfortable.

The staff and service was great and the rooms were excellent! The bedding and the beds were super comfortable! Don't let the exterior fool you - this place is quite nice! Would definitely stop and stay here again

Very basic Inn, no soap or shower gel provided, the Inn keeper said that because of the delayed shipment. Should they have a back up plan? You can imagine no soap to wash hands after toilet. Good we have travel size shower gel, otherwise need to use shampoo for shower! Room not very clean.

Considering the place is a motel nestled in between some mountains along Highway 5 north, my expectations were exceeded!

Very nice bathroom facilities, very clean room. Kitchenette is useful, staff are very friendly and we appreciated the rough around the edges kind of treatment. Made it feel authentic!

The restaurant attached to the motel has some delicious food too, we were not disappointed with the pizza and wings

The room was updated and very accommodating. The fella at the front desk was not at his best. He needs some coaching, and then we can transform him into a "welcoming steward".
