Good grocery supermarket with plenty of subterranean parking. Great selection of all kinds of items. I loved the shopping cart escalators, up and down!

Good selection but prepared meals seem to often disappoint compared to other grocery store menu items.
Prices are on slight high side but does have great deals if you're willing to shop around.

My favorite chain. I love this store. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I find most things I need here, and I'm so happy to have a Save-on-Foods in my neighbourhood.

Worst location. Hot food is stale and no good. You risk being stabbed by needles just entering. Staff are unpleasant to deal with, security guards are very unpleasant unless your in a suit and tie. Horrible location.

A great little grocery store. Convenient parking underground, friendly and helpful staff, well stocked store. Security guard was friendly, helpful and kind. Produce was fresh, and as reasonably priced as produce gets these days. Would highly recommend and will return.

I've never lived so close to a grocery store as I do now, and it is really good and smart. They have almost everything i should ever need or want. It's very clean and employees are very helpful. Thursday evening, the lights dim for low sensory shopping. Safe underground parking and even charging stations.

Mice are often seen, the black ones are very small. Run under the shelf. More than once! And red peppers are often moldy inside

In the high priced land of Victoria BC, this place has some decent sales at timea. As always, you have to look for and buy goods when they are on sale unless your rich then you can head to Market Fresh

The staff are not trained.they have no knowledge of mathematics or the money.real money.
And your security guards.better check their backgrounds.

When I get threatened by the one that was on at Pandora at approximately 3: 30 on Sunday February 19th. Well just let me say that this store is beyond me.
I have spoken to the manager before and well I can see exactly what he does.trust me folks He is getting alot of benefits from the government.
Now he will have to explain one customer who usually drops about 35 bucks a month into that store.
People go elsewhere this place is not a good place to go to get groceries. Avoid at all money costs.
And oh yeah if their security could hand out tickets in the underground parking.jeepers Victoria police could make their quota in less than an hour.

This location is always clean and well-stocked. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the large store carries a good variety of products. I tend to shop here early in the morning when it's not crowded.

Honestly it has the same priced products as any other grocery store yet save-on's points card the "more rewards" card gets you great and sometimes even absurd deals. The points don't do much but the straight up lowered cost you can get on most product is crazy. Great store would recommend for the points card

Usually a pretty solid selection of fresh meat and produce. Always a deal to find if you look for it! Staff is always extra courteous and helpful.

Our neighborhood grocery store for some time. Friendly knowledgeable staff and reasonable competitive pricing, also offer price matching for certain store such as Walmart if you have a coupon or flyer advert from other store they will match it:)

I screwed up on Sunday and caused the staff a problem sorting out my bill. They did a great job. No stress. No recriminations. A bit of advice and info. Everybody happy. These employees are very professional and kind. Sure was glad I made that mistake at Save-On-Foods. What a great place to shop.

Open your meat department later! The fact that everything is shut and put away by 5pm is beyond ridiculous.

The store was clean I found everything I needed check out was smooth the only thing troubling is if you would like a taxi to take you home with your groceries. The car can't stop on Vancouver or Pandora in front of the store. You need to wait downstairs in the parkade there's no bench and there's no real designated taxi waiting area so maybe this can be improved on in the future.

Typical Save On Foods. It was a hot day and we stopped by the little Starbucks. The young lady working that day did an amazing job and made us (a group of 4) some very good iced drinks. It was on Sunday of the BC day long weekend and even though she was the only person working at that location she still got the drinks out to us just as fast as a location with several people making drinks.

Check your receipts! Over charged then took ten minutes to get a refund. Never enough cashiers open. Long lines. Most staff are friendly and helpful though.

I really like the amount of space that this location has. They had really good sales, and friendly staff too. I just need to remember not to go when the just-about-to-go-make-dinner rush is happening.

A nice big grocery store. Got all the things you need to make a nice meal.
The store is spacious and there is a Starbucks inside as well as a pharmacy.
Ice cream selection is pretty big.
Also there is a bakery and hot food ready to take away and eat.

Some shelves are pretty bare, but it's understandable under the circumstances. Most of the cashiers are very helpful

Extremely under staffed for cashiers during rush hours. Always spending lots of time in long line ups. Out of 8 tills only 2 are active.

Clean, tidy, and we'll stocked grocery store. Located in a "rough" neighborhood but brings a nice touch to the community.

So we roll up to this save-on lookin for some bananas and there’s a literal concert going on.some guy just shredding a guitar.classic victoria.can’t say i was mad about it.still got bananas. 4 stars

Very fair prices hit foods in front more like restaurant before you enter the store have starback also in addition. Variety of food items found fruits and vegetables are also packed. Easily shopping without making you uncomfortable while other big stores checks on you if you are doing bad things which makes customers to feel guilty while spending his own money.

This store never has advertised product and I have purchased moldy bread from here.the prices of out of stock isn't cheaper than walmart.horrible buyers, poor store management, this store sucks.

Not bad for a downtown grocery. Fairly spacious and a decent variety of things. Gotta say it's a little pricey, but what isn't these days.

Great supermarket and will definitely be returning to this shop. I often buy my lunch here.

Convenient store in the area of the staff are pleasant. Price a little bit higher however the location is fine for downtown however compared to no thrills there is a difference in price

One employee working the deli - middle of rush hour… 10 hours later I got my MEAT. Maybe after today I go vegan who’s to say. Also they didn’t have pita … so 1 star

The store is very clean, staff very friendly. I went this weekend to buy a black forest cake (my favourite) from the bakery and they had none in the display. I asked the clerk behind the counter if he happened to have one in the back and he offered to make one for me while I was shopping. Very appreciated and the cake was delicous.

It's unfortunate that the store itself is located in a rough neighborhood that looks like a war zone of a 3rd world country. Until recently there were hundreds of people living in tents on Pandora, some homeless, some drugs addicts and some with mental issues, just outside of the store. If it was a safer walk I would visit more often rather than just once every few months.

I bought these raw chicken wings from here. This store specializes in raw ingredients that can be combined to make meals. Try buying straight milk with some prepared cereals that come in colored boxes for some YUM.

It doesn't have a diverse selection of food and is quite expensive for a regular grocery store. On top of that, there is lots of false advertising and difficult to understand deals. I prefer to go to fairways or thrifties. If your looking for organic or ethicly made products this is also not the store, go to market on Yates or a farmer's market.

Positives are that it there is a fair amount of space to move around

When the virus first started in late March I went to the store because it was closest to me initially it was okay but for these few other times I've gone there most recently the other day the security guard on his phone walking around up bumping into people while staff has little or no regard to social distancing you can order with Walmart and pick it up at any time you like for half the price you would pay going here I don't hate this business I'm only telling what I think is right and my personal opinion is that everybody should only patronize businesses that take the Coronavirus guidelines serious.

The staff at this location are kind and helpful. I don't shop anywhere else unless I have to. Great selection, nice store layout.

Roger is an excellent store manager. The team members are top notch, and the security team is above and beyond. Plus they have quite a few options for Vegans.

All my homies get kicked out for no reason. Can't buy anything without being followed and accused of stealing

Wonderful staff, great selection of products and their sensory shopping hour on Thursday evenings from 6pm onward is so helpful to those who have sensory sensitivities!

Poorly implemented and enforced social distancing policies. Disorganized and often empty shelves, even before the COVID-19 outbreak.

If I could give a lower star rating I would have. I tried to go shopping in this store on May 2nd and was denied entry. I’m not sure exactly how many security guards there actually was but I’m sure it was probably close to 10 of them that came to make sure I wasn’t going to be allowed in. I’ve only been in that store once before and found it to be quite nice and even talked with security about my cab that I was waiting on, joking even and he helped me out of the store with all my bags even. So when I returned and was treated so horribly I was embarrassed and angry and hadn’t done anything to be treated in that manner. I’m sure that they might have sum problems with people stealing and what ever else but I personally don’t steal and the the only handicap that I do have is due to a couple broken vertebrae in my back and being long overdue for a back alignment which makes every step painful and I walk very crooked leaning heavily to the left so when I was so rudely turned away and I believe his exact words were “ listen honey, not today. Try back tomorrow. ” I asked him repeatedly why I wasn’t allowed in n he kept repeatedly saying the same degrading line to me. First off I’m not anyone’s honey! Secondly I wasn’t high nor drunk and was made to feel like that was why I wasn’t allowed entry. I thought this because he also said to me “Look honey it’s not gonna get better if you keep asking me that and I’ll make it longer if you don’t go now so get out of here. ” I replied all that I wanted was to get a birthday cake for a friend and would leave and that’s something of a time sensitive matter if you know what I mean! I can’t go see my friend the day after her birthday with a cake! The fact that this store finds it necessary to treat people in this way is completely degrading and do you think I’d like to go back the next day so it can happen again? I think not! I’d rather die than suffer that humiliation again! Maybe you should have thought of this before moving into that neighborhood and by the way I am not homeless thank the gods and just because I walked through their tent city to get to the store does not give anyone the right to be treating people like that. You don’t know what reasons those people YES PEOPLE! Have lost their housing and I’m sure sum of them might have lost it due to 2 many guests or drugs and alcohol not all of them I’m sure are addicts and they shouldn’t be treated this way either. I’m pretty sure that your supposed to catch someone stealing first before treating them in such an ill mannered way and if that’s how your treating them in the first place there’s no wonder that they would target your store. You need to give your employees a huge talking too and maybe send them to get taught how to treat customers better before you don’t have any at all. I cannot tell you how outraged I am at how I personally was treated because of a disability no less and if that’s how you’ve taught your employees then shame on you!

The family parking spots underground is the main reason why i got to this saveonfoods.plus the store is pretty clean!

Myself I work for huge chains grocery store. I totally understand the situation that going on right now. I went to safe on foods yesterday. I was being questioned why I was only buying a few groceries. Firstly that is my right to get what I want and I wasn't breaking any rules. They don't know me whether i have the money to do a big shop. I know everyone is stressed right now. But I don't need an employee to tell me how much I should buy.

Love that this store is in my neighborhood now. The staff is awesome and helpful and the store is clean and bright.

What's not to like about this grocery chain. Competative prices, a quality house brand, price match guarantee and a helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Not a great selection in a few areas, many blank shelves, even before holidays, never did find what I was mainly there for: lemon-lime sparkling water, for the second time amI have tried. Product layout somewhat confusing, some things logically associated were widely separated.

Beautiful new grocery store. I appreciate how they have a security guard, given the location. Only complaint is I had a rude cashier who didn’t help me pack my bag and tried to hurry me up when I was getting out my Save On More card. She didn’t even ask me if I had a card and was trying to abruptly finish my transaction.

Finally, a Save-On-Foods within walking distance from where I live in Rockland neighborhood. Hot chicken wings and ribs station is extremely popular, which I buy at least three times a week for lunch and when they are on sale a literally "hot commodity. " Only gripe is lack of express checkout line for those with less than 10 items to pay for.

This evening around 6pm while it was quite busy I witnessed a more senior staff in the produce section speaking aggressively, loudly and being totally degrading to a kid who was also working in the produce section. He said the kid was "totally useless" and other such language. I could not see the name tags to know if the aggressor was a supervisor but regardless of their roles or what the infraction was the behaviour of the obviously more senior staff was completely inappropriate and uncalled for. It was so disappointing to see I'm surprised that the staff would be allowed to treat each other in this way.

Struggled with the automated checkout machine after several attempts to scan handle and complete my transaction on my own.apparently my cloth bag alerted the machine that the weight of the bag was incorrect.it was a competitor's bag but I didn't think that would make much difference. Suffice it to say after several attempts finally the attendant came over. I'm in an automated check out for a reason. I don't want customer service. I just want to handle my own groceries. Went over to cashier and had an error was being overcharged for an item. One of the reasons why I don't want customer service. Fix your machines.

I was quite disappointed that the customer service closed at 9 while the store is open until 10. I feel that this is very poor customer service and was not impressed that the store was not able to assist me by not offering all of their services. This is not the first time I have felt let down by this store. I have found sales clerks and cashiers rather unfriendly and am very put off by the flies in the bakery and produce sections. Options for shopping within the downtown core can be limited and this is not my first choice.

Great new spot to help clean up this area of town. Good selection for the most part, but the hot case food could improve! Beautiful inside with security guards at the location throughout the day.

I was in on Sunday and there was a person playing guitar, with amplifier, beside the Starbucks kiosk; I asked if he was paid by Starbucks and was told he was working for the store. Music was WAY too loud and very off-putting. I went to customer service to let them know the music was overly-loud, and while waiting to speak to the attendant there was a huge racket from a 'spin to win' wheel about 10 feet away from service desk.again, a store initiative. When I complained about high noise levels due to ''introduced" sound, I was directed to a man - don't know his title - who, in response, asked if I was aware of Save On special shopping sessions for people with sensory issues"! I told him I do NOT have sensory issues, it is ridiculous that a grocery store feels it needs to entertain customers by providing them with an extra-loud shopping experience. There are plenty of other choices for me, I will shop somewhere else.

Both times I have come in on my lunch break they haven't had what I was after. I find them unreliable and now have to plan my lunches at home

Checked out the new downtown location Saturday morning a little competition is good only time well tell. I understand the world we live in you need security when dealing with the public but do you really need a blow up monkey greeting you at the door staring you up and down “profiling” l felt very uncomfortable l know you have a lot of homeless and drug addicts in that area they deserve a little dignity as we all do there must be a better way to deal with society?

New save on foods. It's very clean, well stocked and friendly staff. Lots of self check outs. Underground parking. Wings bar. Hot and cold food for lunch, sandwiches, salads and roasted chicken.

I am so bloody happy this place has finally opened! The prices and value are excellent (especially using the Club Card), with the produce, in particular being very high quality. I'm also, overall, impressed by product selection; there is a good balance between more mainstream and speciality items. The bulk section also has a pretty good selection. I'd like to see additional varieties of ITALIAN pasta and tinned tomatoes, but they are still getting a feel for their customer base, so perhaps that will come. Besides, such things can be purchased from Italian Food Imports on Blanchard, which isn't a far walk. The store itself is beautiful, with lots of natural lighting, which provides a pleasant atmosphere in which to shop.

I'd also like to make a note here about the avocados (yes, I realise that sounds odd: P). This store manages the seemingly impossible task of selling avocados at the RIGHT stage of ripeness.which means I don't need to plan ahead in order to use one. Seriously, in other places they are either so hard that if you threw one at somebody you could probably kill them.or they're so soft and mushy, that a single, light squeeze would turn them into instant guacamole. I don't know what Save-on's secret is.but even though I'm not an avocado addict, or anything, it's great to be able to just buy them, hassle-free, if the urge strikes.

Honestly.this place has been needed for years. The Market on Yates was good when it opened, but, having enjoyed a virtual monopoly for far too long, they've become greedy and extremely overpriced. Basically, a Wolefoods Wannabee, except they only have the high prices, NOT the selection or quality. I really want to see Save On give MOY the (literal) run for its money that it richly deserves. At the other end of the spectrum, Wellburn's is very hit and miss (especially since the family decided they were going to close the store).

So.from me, a massive thumbs up!

Wow the rotisserie chicken at this location is really good! Moist and not overdone! The store looks great and is very well organized, I appreciate the greater selection of take out items. I was disappointed some products weren't available in smaller portions. I think you will find the downtown crowd isn't necessarily buying for a family of four!

Most things about this store are great. The location is excellent (much more budget friendly than Market on Yates, the closest downtown alternative), and the store is large, bright, well laid-out and clean.

I witnessed a couple of iffy food safety things on my visit last night. When we walked in the store, we watched the staff member stocking the ready-to-go hot chicken wings overfill them so much that they were all over the serving area (not the most hygienic) and then pick them all up and stack them as high as possible. We were also on the hunt for some steaks, nothing too fancy, but all of the packaged red meat looked old and grey, like it had been sitting out a little while too long. We decided to opt for the deli as it looked more fresh, but that ended up costing us more than we'd have liked to pay.

I have visited the store on a few other occasions and didn't have any other concerns, so I'm hoping these are just a few isolated problems. Either way, I will still be back at this store as it is such a treat to have downtown.

Its nice having a Save on so close to downtown. The few times ive been in have been okay. Don't get the onion rings from the warm food area, they were the worst Ive ever had in my life.
